I just acquired a Lieselotte in her first release, and saw she was a part of a story arc called Harajuku Memories. I would rlly love to read it or find the story, as all I can find are the poems

 

I just want everyone to know that I already called Frozen dolls happening, some time back

I am glad Volks keeps releasing Disney Princess dolls. I don't like Disney so my wallet can stay safe

 

Congratulations! Lieselotte has a very versatile face, I think. One of my favorite girls! I can't remember which of the Volks books has the Harajuku Memories story in it, the second volume? I have no sense of time...

Also I just took a look at the October outfits/FCS models, and good lord that F75 boy is gorgeous.

 

Welp, if Elsa is next to be released in Disney Princess line I can say goodbye to my money.

I really hope she will be available to international buyers unlike Cinderella.

 

I'm doomed. I love Frozen more than is probably healthy. It is deeply personal to me as it pulled me out of a bad depression. I saw the first one 14 times in theater and the second one 10. Call me insane if you'd like!

I really hope they make both Elsa and Anna, and I am curious as to which outfits they will make. Trying not to get too hopeful now, as I know how popular Frozen is in Japan so the lottery will be intense.

 

Haha figured it wouldn't be too long before we saw Elsa and Anna.

As much as I love Frozen and Frozen II it'll probably be a pass. I haven't loved the ones they've done so far with that sculpt family, it's just not my taste, and the dresses have so far had pretty obvious mouse interference and been kind of dull. Disney's probably going to make them use that awful crunchy glitter they love so much on Elsa. XD Plus if it's Japan only again eep. And yeah, Frozen bloodbath. XD

But we'll see! I'd love to be surprised! Maybe Elsa will get a significantly different sculpt that captures her sass.

 

Congrats on your new girl! Where Angels Lie contains many of the early story arc translations, including Harajuku Memories. The images and some links are sadly broken now as it's been years since the website's been updated, but there is a wealth of information there on early Volks.

 

Strange - but it seems to still work for me...

 

With the speed of collabs and re-release Volks has been doing this year, it does look like company is struggling under COVID and just using all their popular dolls or doll ideas to get people so spend that money! lol

 

The Disney collabs are planned years in advance with a huge amount of labor because of Disney's requirements and meetings and general vetting process, so I don't think the pandemic has much to do with that schedule.

 

GUYS...SD Williams is ridiculously adorable. His clothes are sooo soft X3. I'd post a picture, but the picture link didn't work from Flickr. *grumbles*

Re: Where Angels Lie and broken images - they are only broken if you access the site via Google image search, if you open the site by just going to the URL, they all work just fine!

 

My little guy was just delivered! Just after I was thinking I hope he comes earlier rather then later the doorbell rings and it's the DHL delivery guy. I've never been so happy to see a fully dressed man in my life. Sadly, I've got some work things to finish first. Only two months back, and boss out on vaca, and so much to do, Oh MY!

 

Not just Disney I'm thinking though. I know these collab takes time to negotiate and work through, but I don't think under normal circumstance they'd put two Disney themes in the same year, back-to-back salor moon, and back-to-back Oath of Silver Coin. My personal guess is they do have these plans done in line already, but just when to execute it and this year they might have rearranged to combat missing sales from stores and dolpa. But nevertheless, none of us works there, so it's merely a possible guess

Edit: Oh, in all the excitement about Frozen dolls, I forgot that SD16 Kira arrived today. I'm still at work, but hopefully I'll be able to finally pay that doll tax.

 

OMG a sassy Elsa would be amazing. And even harder to resist.

How much did these dolls go for again?

 

I think Japan is still in love with tormented Elsa from Frozen 1, so it's definitely going to be classic blue ice dress Elsa.

Thanks! I'm still exploring Kira and her many facets. Her eyes don't catch or reflect light as easily. She's my first resin BJD and holding her feels so strange compared to vinyl dollfie dreams.

Also, I was completely not expecting DHL to deliver Kira today and was very much pleasantly surprised.

I took some quick comparison pictures between Young Williams, SD17 Williams, and Ernest. The album is here, SD Young Williams.

Man does Volks love melon heads.

But, why or why did Volks add this to the top of the lower torso piece. It practically makes the two piece torso useless. The body can't bend forward at all, and can barely bend back or side to side.

The torso is pretty much only good for turning and not bending.

I am now sorta sad I didn't try for lil Willy... But also glad cause I am facing adult house related expenses and probably would have had to sell him right away anyway gotta live vicariously through you all cause I'll sure not pay his second hand market prices later XD

 

I HATE THAT PIECE SO MUCH. It's in MSDs and SD13s as well, and I have been so tempted to literally destroy it to get it out of there. It doesn't do anything that I can even tell, aside from channeling elastic? I think it's held in with superglue so I've been meaning to research methods for removing superglue that won't eat resin.

It's in backwards on one of my MSDs (it's curved in their bodies) and he can actually bend forwards. It forces my other MSD and my SD13 body to bend backwards due to the curvature.

 

@Astro My SD13 Revival body also has a similar piece, but thankfully it's not as high so doesn't really restrict movement, and instead has locking knubs on the front and back so the body can hold it's position when bent forward or backward. Same with the SDGr boy body.

I too wondered if the piece could either be removed or shortened. The only reason I can see for the piece being like it currently is, is that without it the body might be prone to flopping forward or backward.

 

I’m really glad to see people are receiving their dolls. But I just wanted to ask...is anyone here still waiting on a shipping email...? I won Cecile and honestly did not expect him to ship until a week after the date they gave for shipping to start, so normally the fact that I haven’t heard anything wouldn’t bother me. But every single person I’ve asked or seen posts of got their shipping emails on Friday or Saturday, and it’s Tuesday now. I dont expect Volks to be able to ship every doll on the same day, obviously, but I just wanted to know if anyone else was still waiting. The fact that people are even getting their one-offs before my Cecile has shipped is especially odd to me as I assumed they’d ship the one-offs/icons/dearSDs/dcoords -after- they’d shipped all the new release SDs/DDs.

To be honest, I still can’t believe I won him at all, so until I get that email it doesn’t feel like I actually did lol;;

They’re very charming! I wonder if they’ll be offered with the new Volks USA FCS order coming up in October? I can’t tell if the new heads are Sato-only or not, oops

 

@Cloudedmind I hadn't thought about simply shortening it, but I also have a 13 Revival body and that gives me an idea to shorten the piece and put notches for locking in if possible? I'm not above getting the dremel out if it'll make my dolls actually function properly
That piece actually forces all of my doll bodies that have it to flop backwards, so I'm at my limit for how much I'll put up with from it and I am not going to deal with it on Cecile.

 

@Astro Yeah, shortening it, especially if one has a dremel would probably be easier then trying to completely remove it. Not sure how easy it would be to add notches or slots for the upper piece to rest on when posing though.

 

@Cloudedmind Probably relatively easy so long as you plan it out? The dremel would come in handy there, and I've got some files for sanding in crevices too. I guess I'll take one of my Dates apart and see how that piece is shaped, and see if there's anything on the inside of the upper torso piece that latches in there. I vaguely recall seeing what you're talking about in that body and it's never had a problem with posing. I think I'd try the mod out on one of my MSDs or the SD13 body first though!

 

My apology if I’m selfish. I depressingly want Aurora & Belle to be released before any other Disney characters. If not, my wallet is safe!!! I’m happy with just my Cinderella

@eland, I agree! I'm excited to see more of F-94. And I love the new FCS ordering outfits!!!

@Ferret-hime, it would be extraordinarily surprising to see the new heads in U.S. FCS any time soon. They sometimes pop over to the U.S. before they stop being Sato-only, but not that quickly. F-63 and F-73, which were both wildly popular immediately, took over a year to get to U.S. FCS, if I recall correctly... if not two years?

 

I'd say probably not, just because the next Volks USA FCS is Graffiti boys/SD16 girls and none of the heads look mature enough imo.

 

F-94 looks really cute but I’d have to see more different type of face ups.

Very cute @dollxheart !! Is it me, or does Young Williams feel a bit like he could be Shinku's sibling?

I'm loving those new FCS outfits too!! I'm surprised that Volks USA online FCS has never offered any of the FCS outfits because I would think it would be pretty standard to add an icon or 2 on the bottom of the page. Or even to offer an FCS order campaign like they did a number of years ago, where people who had ordered FCS were allowed to order parts and welcoming outfits. Hopefully, something we will see in the future!

2 more sleeps until online FCS! It's always fun to see what they offer even if I don't order.

I'm also in the boat of 'not a Disney Princess fan' (go Dragon Maleficent!) but I agree what's been said so far in that the dolls themselves (not so much the outfits) are quite cute. And owner photos of the Disney Princess seem to charm me much more than Volks'. Elsa and Anna may be the ladies that may make me throw my hat into the lottery (if it's international). I'd really love to see those new skin colours in person. But my question is, will we ever see a Disney Prince? Put me down for Philip if only to get his sword and shield.

 

Will is so adorable. My big Will really needs his little self now. I’m not looking forward to the second prices though . I can’t wait to see everyone’s Cecile’s as well. I’m very impatient for my Cecile.

 

I know that it'll never happen, but if VolksxDisney ever feels like releasing some of the villains as dolls (or hell, even their outfits!) I'll just be over here with my credit card.

 

@Cloudedmind I had that piece pop out on one of our older girls and we just had to put it back in - the body would not stay upright without it. We're not elastic wizards though, it might be possible for someone who does more of that side of things.

 

Would be first in line for a white SD16 Maleficent.

That cap in the torso really does keep the dolls from flailing around, at least on the older ones where it came unglued, but I bet cutting big notches in the front and back would allow a little more movement. Since I just acquired the new SD Cecile body for my F-58, I'm willing to use him as a test.

 

I'm torn in whether to do VolksUSA FCS this year, especially with Elsa and Anna. Its not a money issue, but I don't want to get a new girl if I'm going to potentially ignore her.

 

Thanks for that info! I just wish the one in the SD10 body functioned more like the one in the Revival body.

Baby Williams is so cute, though it's hilarious to me that the SD sculpt looks younger than the Midi Williams sculpt

 

Soom would make a great Maleficent. green, blue, whatever. And their clothes are gorgeous. (take that Volks/Disney)

 

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that! But in a way it makes sense, since chibified and little kid versions shouldn't have the same effect.

 

So, I did a thing, a thing I probably shouldn't have done, but I couldn't help myself because.........a Le Petit Frere popped up on the MP for a really good price, and I've been wanting him since his release. I even tried, but the click war was hell and I never even made it to his sales page when Volks opened him up for sale. I spent over an hour refreshing the site for naught. But, now my little honey badger will finally be coming home. T_T

 

EEEE!!!!! Congratulations!! I just got a le Petit Frere outfit (with the adorable wig!) and it's the cutest even without him inside of it! I love his sweet face. I kinda love all the Blue Bird dolls though.

 

The outfit and wig look really cute! I reeeeeeally like his wig. Unfortunately, my boy won't be wearing any of it. He's going to be a part of the same world as my RG Williams and Ernest, so all black and white and grey color scheme. And then the characters are associated with an animal or species. RG Williams and Ernest are from the Papilionoidea (butterfly) family, and Le Petit Frere will be from the Musteloidea family, but specifically a honey badger.
