Bummer, I haven't been watching the newest FCS offerings too closely until this year, so I'm going to have to keep checking back for those offerings! Seems they may be rare?

 

I kinda fell off the wagon so belated congrats to all winners of new dolls!

@I<3MySD Oh to be specific, they've never offered boy FCS in anything darker than the sunlight/tan - the other two colors are all limited releases only. And the SD16s are the only girls they've offered in the darker tone, too; I'm pretty certain that even when it was offered alongside the SD16 releases at Sato that you couldn't get ex. an ebony SD.

 

@ekala Which is unfortunate, because I'd totally love an ebony F-16.

 

It would be fascinating to see some ebony SDs! I've always fantasized about getting to do the dream FCS since the possibilities are endless - would love to get an ebony version of my Amakusa SD16 guy, or a sunlight Beth on an SDGr origin body painted by Ciera....

 

God if they'd ever offer ebony for FCS I'd be so overwhelmed with whom to choose! And then I'd prolly get F16 or F22 cause I got my favs and am predictable

For those who did win Williams from VolksUSA, what was the payment deadline?

 

Cecile would've had the same payment deadline, which was the morning of the 21st.

 

I'm wondering if anyone didn't pay, and how long it would take Volks to let us know if we've still got a chance. :X

That's what I'm wondering. There have been times in the past where all dolls were claimed, so there were no second round winners. Seems like this is the case this time too.

 

I hope Volks doesn’t skip the holiday one-offs again this year! But then with us being to participate in a few of the Dolpa ones online I kind of feel like it will get skipped again this year...

 

@Roterwolkenvogel They're so cute! I love those circle shots and I've been meaning to do similar with mine but I'm going to have to split my dolls up by size for one I think. Also the pumpkin shot, I'm so excited for Halloween pics and doll photo challenges coming up!

It looks like it says November for delivery for Williams and Cecile and I'm guessing the others. Does anyone who has won recently know if they generally stick to that month to ship out and earlier or later? It's going to be so nice not to wait as long as Dollzone, Faryland or most companies takes though.

 

I ordered FCS in Apr and they shipped out on June 26 which is a bit earlier than the promised delivery date.
My my SD17 Williams was shipped out on Aug 11th(early Aug).
And my white skin DWC05&04 was running a bit late. But I didn't pay attention to them.LOL
Base on my experience, they are usually on time. If anything happen they'll definitely keep you posted.

I spent my off day, dressing and taking photos of Mischa, my Kohya~ Hope you guys like her! Would love to see more To/Kohyas on this thread! They really can look like such grumps or snooty individuals!

With the boys finally shipping out perhaps we'll start seeing more show up online for re-sale.

Is it just me or has there been less of a mad dash of people immediately putting up Volks dolls for re-sale after they drop for order?! It feels like a few years ago you could almost bet on seeing a dozen or so lottery dolls up on Y!J right after lottery results were released. It seems like lately that's happening less so, or maybe I'm just not searching correctly.

 

@Cloudedmind I can't say I've noticed, but I refuse to buy from Y!J scalpers, so I don't keep a very close eye on it.

 

It's not just you! I think y!J may have changed their listing rules because usually there would be listings as soon as lotto results went out that only used placeholder images. But within the past several releases (starting at least with Cinderella, possibly earlier but I wasn't paying attention until lotto results went out for the SD Oath boys) there haven't been listings for any dolls until after the reseller has them in hand. I like looking up resale prices on recent lottery dolls to have an angry laugh.

Sad I have to wait at least an extra month, but still happy that I'm getting my Cecile. I'm so excited for him!
Could anyone who won Cecile through international measure his head circumference for me once you get him? I want to buy him another wig or two (looking at this one in blond!) but I'm not sure what size to get and would prefer not to buy several duds before I find the right size through trial and error
I also really want to know of Cecile has teeth. He definitely has space for teeth, but did they actually sculpt them? I don't think SD17 Cecile has them though.

 

My hope was that, is this was actually happening and not just my imagination it might be a sign that Volks was getting better at limiting dolls going to people who just wanted to scalp.

But, Y!J changing their selling rules could also be a possibility.

 

Yeah, they all still pop up on y!J (for absurd prices LOL, I think someone wanted 90,000 yen for a Rick BIN), it just seems delayed until they have a doll in hand now. I don't think Volks will ever be able to get a handle on scalpers, unfortunately. There's just no way unless they could individually vet each owner, which is really stupid and draining from a sheer business perspective. I imagine people wouldn't feel comfortable going through a background check just for the right to purchase a doll.

Edit: On a different topic, would someone be able to measure their SDGr boy's shoulders and neck circumference (up near the top where the head attaches)? I'm having the hardest time finding shoulder measurements and neck circumference for Volks dolls.
Woo, another friend got to it for me. Necks are between 10-10.5cm and shoulders (flat across the front, at widest part including arms) are about 14cm in case anyone else was wondering!

 

I noticed that, too. I'm not sure if this is smth. I'm happy with, though. If you are loosing all lotteries and want the doll BADLY Yahoo Auctions Japan is a great option (and in that case I'm happy about every additional doll which will be offered there) I'm super sad that I still have not found any Cecile listings yet.

No, it's not just you, there have been significantly less lottery dolls popping up on Y!J since Rapunzel in my observation, although there were a fair lot of Ricks and Lulus earlier this week (like 4 or so each?), but overall it has definitely died down. I have noticed that there has been an influx of (recent) one-offs popping up as well as some high quality artist faceupped Volks dolls, quite popular sculpts too, and I'm blown away by the bidwars they trigger. It's like on the one hand everyone is scrambling for money by trying to sell off their sought-after dolls and on the other side there's people paying INSANE prices for them. I started keeping a little list of the most outrageous ones I've seen in the past month or so, just for the fun of it:

- artist faceup Michele head for 274.000 yen,
- Rapunzel head by the same artist for 182.000
- Luna head by the same artist for 302.000
- One-off Ran head for 396.000
- One-off F34 for 202.000
- One-off Suiseiseki for 852.000!

And I have the feeling the one-off Shinku that's ending in a few hours is going to top that. I've never seen such prices on such a regular basis before, usually it's rare to see just a head go over 100.000 in my experience, but there have been a bunch ending at between 100.000-150.000 lately as well. Almost makes the scalper prices for fullsets feel tame O.o. Does take the fun out of even thinking about getting a doll like that off Y!J=_=.

@ShuriTigerH Those one-off heads have been going absolutely bananas. My husband and I have started taking to playing a sort of "price is right" game with them!

There definitely have been less listings after events, with the exception of the Junichi Nakahara Lorina IIs. I feel like there were dozens of them over the course of a month or two. I feel like we didn't see a lot of Williams Commadore V2 and SD17 Cecile because they had such ease of order? And Cinderella is just an enigma to me, it feels like hardly any one entered for or won her, which is resulting in about 2 listings haha.

 

@ShuriTigerH Those dolls belong to a very well known Japanese collector who has decided to leave the hobby and hence the dolls are extremely well known and most of them are one-offs which are made recently and due to the popularity of the collector, are fetching much higher prices than the usual commanding price.

@ShuriTigerH - I still remember the days of Avvelenato and Violet Poem and other big name faceup artist heads going for over $5k each, there was that one rather famous School A that went for $20k, so it's interesting to see a jump in prices for especially well done heads again. Yuni is very cute!

A large chunk of me still wishes I could have had an Avvelenato painted head lol

 

Request for pics. ebony and sunlight in whatever the current color batch is. I was going to finally get an sd16 girl, but now am undecided. I always liked sunlight though never saw it in person. photos I see of current sunlight looks very pink. not fond of pink skin. if they had ebony for boys - and why don't they? - I'd jump for an sdgr. they're all so cute! I don't have that size. always wanted sd16 girl and the bodies seem fairly poseable nowadays. not a fan of the heads except f34 which seems versatile.

@petiteballerine I resisted SD16 girls for a very long time, but I've scaled back my requirements for posability in the last decade because I just don't take as many photos as I used to, so I finally got one. The legs are still very frustrating because even the ankles cant rotate so they stand like an old Barbie, but the upper body is quite nice. I'm still pining after an Amethyst boy, but I can't recall if the ones I've seen are on SD17 or SDGr bodies.

ETA: Doll Tax so it's not just me whinging. Speaking of girls turned into boys...

Seems like I always want the opposite gender of whatever the doll is actually released as.

 

Yes! I'm looking forward to taking pictures of him, Sadly he'll have nothing to wear outside of his default clothes as finding things to fit the SD10 body is proving difficult.

This actually confirmed something I've been wondering over the years. Hopefully, it's not a practice that happens often.

Thanks everyone! For once everything I had in mind more or less came together. More often then not the minute I start a shoot I forget all of my photography knowledge. It's like how can I have "studied" photography for close to a decade and still be this bad.

@I<3MySD Thanks! It's a Punk Momo wig. I wanted something similar to a himi (princess) cut look, and they had this one in stock. I wish they'd had a pure white color, but thankfully it doesn't come off as to yellow in pictures.

 

Volks News latest issue out today and I for one need it to be as boring as possible. Anyone else?

I'll start with this - can't read it of course, but I'm still intrigued by the picture.

 

@eland I can read a little. It says Anna and Snow... something to do with Woman. Maybe princess? Queen? I don't recognize the last kanji, but something like Snow Woman. That's on the image itself, by the way, not the caption next to it.

 

Oooh basically it says to look forward to Frozen dolls coming in winter 2020. Anna and the Queen of Snow is how the movie’s title was translated for the Japanese release.

I liked the movie but am safe

 

So Volks is releasing Elsa next? That's going to be a bloodbath. I guess they'll probably do Anna in NS and Elsa in WS like some of the other paired girl releases.

 

So I guess this means international people are out of luck for a Cinderella release huh?

Snow White was initially the only one I was holding out for too, but I entered for Rapunzel and won...
And now I'm hooked lol

 

I don't care for the Disney trappings one way or the other, but I think the sculpts so far have been suitably charming.

 

I know it will be Elsa and Anna, but my heart wishes I could get an SD17 Hans. LOVE Hans.

 

I look forward to what the sculpts look like but I don't really like Disney at all.
