Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXIV

Jan 19, 2019

    1. Thanks for checking that! Hm! Now that's interesting! Since Kai and those early Chris models are exactly the same except for their styling/faceup--the same head mold, the same resin color and body--maybe they all have the K mark? (Kai was made for the Korea Sumika only, so probably that's why he has a different name instead of being a Chris, and Angelden even lists him as just being a Chris by another name.)

The only way to know for certain if Kai has a different head number is to find someone who has a Kai, and to see what number he has! Aaaand for now/until then I'm just gonna carry on calling my boy a Kai, cos without his faceup, fullset, and his certificate, he might as well be! It would really only matter if I was going to sell him, but I'm never selling him anyhow. ^_~

    2. To add to the list of numbers, I checked the ones I have:
Hasekura Tsunenaga: 102 (He's the older one, not sure if the newer one is the same.)
      Chiyo: 125
      F-30: SD F-30 (Obviously...)

For fun, I also checked my yo-SD Kakeru, 68, and Ko-tenshi Tsubaki which is 12.

And about the Kai/Chris mystery, maybe the K is due to the romanisation of the name as "Kurisu"?

    3. I'd love to take at least a partial group shot for you, at least. ^_^ A full one is difficult right now because, I have about 40 dolls. :) And also because some of those dolls are being re-faceupped currently (or soon). But Im happy to get a shot of at least some :D I also have several doll profiles here on DoA if youd like to browse ^_^ I have several dolls who havent been added yet. But Im hoping to get more photos taken soon. Perhaps this weekend? ^_^

    4. Anyone gotten their Oscar or Andre yet? I'm dying to see photos!

    5. She's here! :D
Her wig needs quite a bit of taming and her fullset is very daunting- the fringe on the epaulettes also needs some attention so I opted to put her in casual clothes for today.

    6. :o:o:o:o:o

    7. Funny note because I'm so excited that I forgot all about it: I had a substitute mail carrier today, which are notorious for not bothering to go down my front steps and ring my doorbell no matter what. I got a text saying a "sorry, we missed you =) notice" had been left, bolted out my garage and ran down the street after the mail carrier and was thankfully able to apprehend him.

    8. She looks great in that.

I plan on entering for the British Style Navy suit and the Chesterfield coat specifically for her when Volks USA offers up the February outfit collection. She seems like she'll be fun to dress up in more boyish clothing. I like to do that with my DDS Makoto Kikuchi; she's got a cute face, and she really rocks boyish outfits that offer just a hint of femininity.

    9. I'm also going to try to get her that suit if it becomes available! I don't think the coat will fit her at all, but I really do want it :( Both suits + the coat are beautiful.

She absolutely looks amazing in more boyish looks so that's how she's going to stay. I ordered Azurite Blue/Stylish for her and that should be here tomorrow! I wish the SD17 version of Azurite blue would have fit her, I wanted that most :(

    10. Hee… My Oscar won't show up until tomorrow, so I have to squee over yours, Astro.

I know mine won't be keeping the light-colored wig, and will probably never wear the full-set outfit, but half the fun of having her is going to be trying on everything *else* in the house to see what works best. Somehow, I suspect she's going to be raiding Kestrel's clothes collection first. It'll be interesting to see how well some of the SID/EID outfits fit on that small-bust bod.

    11. @Astro :D:D:D
I can't wait to see how everyone styles Oscar and Andre! Mine is still in transit since she decided to take a detour to Wagga Wagga for some birdwatching.

    12. Someone questioned it earlier, someone else posted that Claude the prince has 114, my Claude the beast one-off also has 114.

None of my others have lookalikes outside of being an FCS used for DSD or a standard in FCS.

    13. @Astro She is gorgeous
Even regular clothes look so beautiful on her. So congrats to you. I really want her TT__TT

    14. @Astro She is stunning! I'm sure no one will mind if you put up a few more pics. ;)

As for the 28-16-Lucas-Chris-Kai thing... I'm pretty sure that Volks changed molds or at least the way they used/labeled them when they switched to pureskin. Thusly Lucas/Chris prior to the cat releases would be K and those after would be 12 - and Kai, also being oldskin, would be K as well. In that case, the K simply makes sense by number; they're ~the 11th mold released (depending on how those at Dolpa 7 were numbered). Prior to that, there was: the Sisters mold, the U-noss mold (maybe not even numbered through this), Nono, Rio, Ian, Mimi, the SDM-01 mold, Nasha, Miisha/Shinshiiya, and Leona/Licht.
Similarly - obviously - the FCS molds changed mold #s as well as FCS #s when they switched the system in 2004.

    16. @Astro I'm just echoing now but she's bleddy lovely! Congrats!

    17. She looks incredible @Astro !!! :D:love Your photo is amazing! I'm so happy you were able to catch the mail carrier! Mega congratulations!!

    18. @Astro Congrats! Very beautiful doll! I love looking at pictures of other people's dolls!
In other news, I managed to find another Show on Mandarake that I bought instead of the full choice system. It's on a female body that I will have to sell in order to afford the body I want, but I'll end up saving about $300 that way, so both my collection and my wallet are fairly happy.

    19. Gonna come in on the wagon and squee over Oscar. I can’t wait to see her in person!

Did she come with any KIPS discs or similar already? Also, I remember from the R.Dean unboxing vid that she apparently had a lot of eye glue...curious about that because even if I leave her with her default eyes, I am hoping the glue is not too dire to remove.

    20. Ooooh, Oscar's beautiful! Congratulations!

I checked my old F-28's head last night and - indeed, it says something like YX3 III in there, so I guess it really is a honest-to-god old F-28, which is awesome cos he's getting a "companion piece": an old F-29 head I found on Y!A and managed to win. :D

    21. @SaiBySai She has some KIPS, definitely in the elbows. Not sure on the legs, but her leg mobility is honestly rather bad so I'm not sure if they're KIPS or if that's just the way she was engineered? All of her other joints move and hold quite nicely and aside from the legs she poses very naturally.
I haven't opened her head yet but I did just recently rip the glue out of one of my Date IIs to switch his eyes around and I'd say it was a normal amount? It came out easier than past Volks eyes that I've removed, though there's still a little chunk stuck in under one eye. I want to get some Oscar Doll (RIP ;-; ) eyes for her, or maybe some DollBakery eyes like Wherethelilacsbloom's girl has once they reopen! I adore that light pupil. That said, her defaults are honestly very stunning and I really love the small irises. I think she'd look good with 16 mms?

      Thanks everyone!

    22. Hello there!)) Please, someone have clear and fresh information about
      “paid-exchange“ service?
It is still exists somewhere? How that works? If I have older doll from secondhand it is any chance to get exchange for newer doll? Thanks!

    23. And thank you! Gives me some thoughts on planning, etc. for when my girl arrives. My whole brood needs a bit of stretching and new elastic, and I have it in hand now.

Meantime, going back to the dolly head numbers... I finally got my guy's head open and the particular Williams head I have has a 52 in it. Something else I also noticed: not only does his headcap have it, but the inside of his head has it too..which I am sure was just something I just never noticed until now (yep, I'm a slowpoke!) The difference is that the one in the headcap appears to be handwritten, while the one in the head itself looks to be more..stamped in? That or it's someone's handwriting and it's very different from the handwritten number in the cap.
