Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXII

Feb 8, 2018

    1. Does anyone have the measurements for the SD13 girl body? Most especially the width of the shoulders, the bust, and the hips. I can only find it for the boy body.

    2. VolksUSA said that the FCS website would be down until July 25. So maybe try tomorrow afternoon? We may find out the heads soonish (maybe on FB) but I don't think you'll be able to look at all the options on this round of FCS until Aug 1. I don't think we can actually see the FCS order page until it starts.

Very welcome news about VolksUSA Dolpa. I think financially it would make sense to keep it in California only because the warehouse is in CA. I would think it would be a cost saver but I wonder if it isn't a different city because they didn't out right tell us where it is? CA is my preference but I know many others would love to see it elsewhere. I guess we will just have to wait and find out.

I don't know if having a Dolpa or not means Volks is staying in the USA or not. It also could be a last hurrah ... (says the pessimist) I guess time will tell.

    3. Hmmm, red white and blue in September as opposed to July could mean Philadelphia. On the other hand it's July now and and they are Volks USA.

Where are you seeing red white and blue though?

    4. Thaks for the info, I didnt know that. I looked at it during one of the other order periods (dont rememebr which one) and I couldent remember if it was only active during the order-time or not.

I do hope Volks USA isnt closing...I'd had hopes of making it to a Dolpa at least once. Im finaly in a plce in my life finaniancaly where I could plan a trip to LA or New York. I hope next year isnt my last chance!

    5. While that thought had occurred to me, I think if you look at everything they are doing lately it seems to indicate they are increasing their US presence. They are offering all the lottery limiteds and pre-orders now, the VIP members only items, they went through the expense of moving, they've been attending all sorts of events, and now they are doing another Dolpa over a year from now. All these thing seem to me to speak to a willingness to take some risk by extending themselves financially, as well as planning for things in the long term. If they were doing poorly I'd expect them to cut their losses rather than spend on extras. Just my own take though.

    6. From a purely selfish standpoint, I'd like to see it stay in California because I can combine the trip with a Disney venture. Even if it went back by LAX again, I can move to Anaheim either before or after depending.

Did everyone see their FB post showing F-67 in the August lineup? Does that mean a return of F-73??

    7. I would guess so, the Midi is F48 the same as last time.

    8. How often does Volks open up the online fcs system? Is it a few times every year? I just saw that it'll be available again here really soon and I feel so torn! There is a limited doll from a very small company I am about to buy, but I've also got F-72 and F-73 pretty high up there on my wish list as well *_* I guess it would be more wise to wait later for the fcs dolls in the future, and go ahead and get the doll from the smaller company? :sweat

    9. @April_Tears Arrange a split maybe? The full SD doll would be about $650-700. I forget the exact amount. At least, youd have the head and SD bodies (single elbow-joint) are common in the secondary market.

    10. Oh that's a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion! I wasn't sure of what a split was until you brought it up and I had to look more into it:sweat

    11. Excited to hear about another US Dolpa. I would love to see everyone again and bring some of my doll updates. I would be happy with NYC or LA, although LA is where I live. We get a lot of love on the west coast and it would be fun to attend an NYC event.

    12. I just got an FCS F15 (Syo) from Dollyteria, and it is missing its head plate.

      The listing said "Plate: F2030."

Can someone decode this and tell me what information this provides? I know it's different from the standard head plates.

    13. Well if it keeps being the same body types and headmolds every time I'll be safe at least lol.

@kcurry9: Sounds like a Sato FCS plate. I used to have a Sato doll and he had the same format. Weird they'd list the plate number but not have it. That number would be likely around mid-2005 - I used to have a WS F-24 that was ordered around July 2005, and his plate number was F-2053.

Though, I'm not that surprised it fell off, my Isao's been missing his plate for years now. It's somewhere around here but Mother SD knows where lol. Got a second hand FCS recently that didn't have her plate either. The hot glue is still there, of course, Volks hot glue is eternal(I keep putting off chipping 12+ year old hot glue to remove her original eyes for that very reason), but the plate went floop at some point lol.

    14. I woudl love to attend a New York event too but either locale is great by me. I'm just thrilled they've got the clearance and they are doing it. :aheartbea:3nodding:

I came into the hobby later than the NYC Dolpas or *just* at the time they were ending... did they ever host there again after the kerfuffle with the stolen dolls? That's still kind of a crazy thing that happened!:shudder

    15. @kcurry9 :love Congrats! Syo/F15 is one of my favourite moulds, was it the white skin one on an sd13 body? I had my eye on her too, I am glad she has gone to someone here!

    16. Thank you so much for this information! My only other FCS doll, also second hand, is an F26 with a plate that has 14.03/FF on it, obviously a completely different numbering system (March 2014? And the FF?). So, each store had its own? Do we have any resources here or elsewhere that would help us decode FCS plates?

Yep, that's the one! I think it's a classic Volks sculpt and I've wanted to add to my collection for some time now. I think it's particularly appealing as a girl and pairs beautifully with the iconic F01/4 Sisters.

I suspect that the plate fell off at some point in the packing process. Apparently it was in the store in Yokohama and was sent to Tokyo before being sent to me. I carefully searched the wrappings and packing materials, but no joy. I have contacted Dollyteria and they are going to see if it can be found, but I'm concerned by their reply that they may have misunderstood and think the head is missing rather than just the head plate.

    17. @kcurry9 I just can’t hold back my self to laugh out about the misunderstanding of loosing the head inside of the head plate as I had experience once before with a dealer XD she was really worried about what happened during the shipping to make the doll head disappeared :aeyepop: I also like Syo a lot and I do have two syo girls in my current collection as I’m a big fan of Volks four sisters. White skin Syo is just wonderful.

Also really excited about the upcoming Dollpa next year and hope I’ll have enough funds for the flights tickets.

I’m super lucky of finding a white skin SWD nana for my white skin F-01 as a twins sister, next target will be a white skin old F-03 which I’ve been searching for a WHILE...:doh shall post SWD nana photos once she gets home :chibi so excited of the upcoming dolls.

    18. @kcurry9 Definitely if the plate # was listed, they should have it around somewhere. Keep up with them! The best resource I've seen for the FCS headplate info is Neo Angel Den (although I believe it's the same as the original Angel Den). FF is probably from Fukuoka.

    19. @ekala Thank you so much, that is exactly what I was looking for!

I received another response from Dollyteria after I tried to make clear that it is the plate that is missing not the whole head. They said the people in Yokohama noticed the plate was loose and used masking tape to secure it. Welp, the head cap was indeed taped to the head. So we seem to be getting closer to an understanding, but were not there yet.

    20. @kcurry9 maybe a photo would help them? I remember when I tried to ask them a question previously I had to literally draw a diagram to explain it.

    21. I came to the same conclusion, figuring that a picture is worth a thousand misunderstood words.

I just sent them two pictures, one of the back of F15 head with the missing plate area circled, and one of another Volks doll with the metal plate circled. I also tried to reassure them that I'm not complaining and I'm happy with the doll, not planning to return it over this, and apologized for all the inconvenience. I just want to make sure that plate isn't sitting around somewhere and to get it if possible. At least I have the info from it, after all.

    22. I am so excited, got artist's pics of my Claude's new faceup and he turned out perfect!

    23. Congratulations! It's always lovely when a plan comes together. Looking forward to seeing pics!:thumbup

    24. Bring on the Claudes! There really aren't enough of them on the forum.

So because I'm a sucker for old dolls, I picked up a Hiroshima version Chris, who apparently came out the same year that I graduated high school. :shudder Man, the SD13 body really has come a long way since then. Anyways, I am considering turning him into a girl if I find the right body, but finding a larger girl body (because it was just sad when I popped him onto a SD10) that matches pre-pureskin yellowed white resin is, um, difficult.

      • x 1
    25. It's a bit disappointing that the online FCS this month is identical to last month (in both the mini and SD head molds), but at least this gives more people a chance to get F-67 or F-73!

      • x 2
    26. Yeah the sculpts and bodies being exactly the same yet again is kind of disappointing, but cheap for me lol. No desire for more dolls. A body split might be nice but I already have too many dolls and a floating head who still needs a body...

Speaking of too many dolls, I haven't actually posted a picture of the latest one yet. She's sort of a rescue doll lol, one of those cheap sad condition really old dolls you find from resellers on Y!J that don't even deal in BJDs so they don't even know what it is half the time. Kind of wonder how they end up in those places, always kind of sad. :( She's pretty yellow and desperately needs a good bath I just haven't had time yet. :( No idea her exact age, her headplate is missing, but based on how her resin looks and feels and the style of her faceup I'm guessing around 2004-2006 as she feels like my Isao and Tsukasa with similar yellowing in the areas that didn't have as heavy an exposure to light and the faceup is the same kind of style as my 2005 FCS. Need to replace her eyes, they're gorgeous IRL but don't photograph well because the brown is too dark and I need to brighten them separately from the rest of the picture in photoshop. But I hate chipping out old Volks hot glue, RIP. The wig is borrowed from my DSD Tiffany and is too big and fell off during the picture taking and I didn't notice the choker was askew lol.

    27. @Ian-KunX, she’s a cutie! I like her determined expression :)

Older Volks eye glue isn’t as difficult to remove as they used less of it then than later on, and it can get a little brittle. My Volks SD13 Cyndy took a fall one day, and it loosened one of her eyes :o So your new girl may be easier to work on than you think.

    28. Oooh, what a cute girl! Isn't that an old F-08? Some traits are similar to mine but with the face-up, I'm not sure.

    29. Close, she's a 'new' F-05, which is mostly the same but with a much less high forehead.

    30. I bought one F-73 and a head last month. Can I justify another? That would bring my F-73 count to five...

(Yeah, when I obsess, I obsess.)

    31. Volks USA is toying with me, offering F01 two months in a row :evilplot:

Would it be so wrong to order a Sunlight SD13 F01 girl with the boy face-up?... :sweat

      • x 3
    32. No. F-01 is never wrong. No matter the question, F-01 is never wrong.

      • x 2
    33. Awww I adore f73 but not in my budget at the moment. I hope they will offer her again down the road. Then i would have to decide on tan, normal skin or white lol ... argh Congrats to those that are ordering :)

Mytyl arrived home this afternoon from her faceup and I adore her mold so so much.

    34. @wrxgal she is so so beautiful, congrats! *mentally kicking self for giving up a recent opportunity to have a Mytyl* Who did her face-up? She is gorgeous!

      • x 2

    35. Well, i too am a little sad with the options, wonder if they will do more headmolds, or at some point at least offer f17 (I just really want an FCS of that head) . I guess until they do I will wait paciently, im still paying my Toppi off after all. ^^;

    36. Ah, that would have been my next guess. :) She's lovely!

    37. @nakitaninja - I am so excited and yes, it's always great when an idea actually turns out better than you had imagined it would, especially with dolls.

@whitebread - I admit I was not sold on Claude by his default, but I am glad I took a chance on him because he's very charming

      • x 1

    38. Is there a piece of tape stuck to the packing material or the box somewhere? It might have come loose, wandered about, and stuck to something else.

    39. Awww I love Mytyl! Your girl is so beautiful. I have a Mytyl myself but she doesn’t have her own body yet. I hope to get her one soon.

    40. Oof. After 20 minutes of poking and prodding, the reluctant use of some alcohol, and a lot of cursing, I have my F-05's eyes out, and the top part of the hot glue. The bottom is unfortunately very generous and I can't budge it yet. Guess I'll take a break and go back in later. At least Enchanted Doll eyes have a similar profile to Zouks if I can't get it out without going insane or damaging her?

Also man, looking at these gorgeous babies next to the sad lifeless flat pancakes that came with my F-59 makes me sad how much Zouks have gone downhill. These are lovely and even and full of life and depth, they just don't photograph worth a darn because the color is dark. :<

Speaking of which we continue our very reduced selection of eye colors... Did they discontinue a bunch of colors or did they just stop offering them for online FCS? I know I got a color with my F-40 a couple years back that's generally Sato only and I remember it still being available until recently and I had a lot of options when I ordered my F-59.

    41. No, I checked every bit of wrapping and packing material including the cardboard box. Dollyteria has been unable to locate the plate. It would have been nice to have it, but my doll is far from the only Voks doll missing its plate, and at least I have the number from it, thanks to the inclusion of that information in the listing. And now I know what it means, thanks to the Volks experts here! :D

    42. @Ian-KunX I haven't heard about them discontinuing eye colors altogether, but there has definitely been a reduced list for the online FCS this year. Then again, I'm not sure what's still be offered after the rehaul, so....

    43. @Ian-KunX, I use the hairdryer method of softening eye glue. It does seem tedious to sit there up to 10-12 minutes holding the hairdryer (be sure to lay the head on a thick towel), but it’s less destructive — well, unless the eyelashes are set far up enough in the socket that they get stuck in the hot glue!

    44. Hey guys! Just wanted to share my recently completed DWC-02 SD10 boy. I purchased two heads back in 2013 from Volks USA during the Dollfie World Cup event intending for twins. They were blank for a few years, later underwent faceup testings that didn't feel right then I sold the other head last month and debated if I should sell him too when everything finally aligned perfectly: Holy trinity of the correct wig, faceup/eyes, outfit. Phew. :sweat He finally "feels" just as he was meant to be. Though still working out a name at the moment but here he is:

Curious who else owns DWC02 as boys? The majority I've came across on research are all sweet adorable girls.<3

    45. @bpanda what a precious boy! He looks amazing. The wait paid off!!

    46. They look so cute.

    47. This is my tool of choice for eye removal :
Home :: Dollfie® Supplies :: Sculpting Supplies :: View All Sculpting Supplies :: MINESHIMA Carving Knife TM-102

I dip the pointy end into some thinner and gently push it between the resin and glue. The thinner separates the glue from the resin. Once I have a small gap started, I might switch to the flat end and then use some tweezers or needle nose pliers to pull out the glue. Tissue on standby to wipe the tool or anything inside the head. I use the thinner very sparingly not to damage the face up or eyelashes. Eyes maybe take me 10 minutes to remove this way.

FYI -- Mia and Theo are still sitting in the International store as well as some other smaller dolls.

    48. I use the freezer method.

Pop off the head. Stick it into a zip-top bag. Put the bag in the ice bin in the freezer. Wait about half an hour, and then get to work with my little sculpting tools. Half the time the eye and glue will just pop right off all in one chunk with a little pressure applied from the outer surface of the eye.

    49. Just curious, but how often does Volks offer F01 when they have FCS events? I was bummed a while back when she wasn't available anymore as a basic SD to purchase, and then started looking into second-hand... But if F01 pops up every so often then I wouldn't mind waiting. :sweat

    50. @bpanda Your post makes me feel compelled to post my Jo March in a similar whimsical bit of fashion. Your doll is very cute! They would take a great photo together.

    51. @Isenn - I love Jo with the short hair, she's so cute!

    52. @Kim They're gorgeous!! I love that subtle scar on Shiro.

    53. It's been so long since I shared a photo but I thought I would share a photo of my Beth.

Does anyone remember @Buff Dead Gary? Well, I guess my Beth is an Ode to Dead Gary.:abow: :sweat I always loved Dead Gary! He always made me laugh and it stuck in my mind like a Disney tune, so I thought I'd have some fun and do something different with my Beth. Like Gary, Beth is dead. Or rather, what we see here is her ghost so I guess she's really ... Ghost Beth? She's the sister of Williams and the betrothed of Cecile, so trying to fit her into that Oath of the Silver Coin story (because Volks never made her ...) ... Still working on those details of her death .... Who killed her? Or was it an accident? Williams vs Cecile!! (ow my eye!):apirate:Now I guess the next problem is ... I have a Williams but no Cecile! I guess I will have to wait for Volks to release him again ...

Alas poor wallet! I knew it well!! :sweat

    54. I tried to get a short wig for my Date, but everything I've ordered came in very long. The bangs cover his eyes and make him look too sweet. Can anyone recommend a wig for a manly look? I will link photos shortly. Thanks!

    55. @pris84 - she makes a gorgeous Grey Lady.

    56. She is lovely! Dead Gary still exists, actually, and is actually going to make a comeback soon! Though, in a much sillier way than your beautiful girl.

    57. Hi all, I'd like to share my Shizu named Nanette, she is on a Little Monica body. She was in the works for many months and is finally complete! I thought I might pair her with my Ryoya Konoe, but I don't they'll get along :mwahaha

    58. @pris84 Your girl looks lovely!

If I was a rich woman and could get my hands on another RG Williams head I'd put it on a female body, and totally go with RG Williams is just Ghost Elizabeth. He just super imposed his own face on a female body because after so long even he's forgotten what she looks like.

      Seriously Volks, where's Elizabeth!

That relationship chart they did around the time Cain and Commodore Williams came out had me a little hopeful.
