Oh wow they are releasing a new Date!? I just got a Date from a seller on DoA and I love him. Do we know when the new version will be released? I'm a bit confused from looking at the site

Possibly dumb question - is the sueding for the online FCS actually suede, or just KIPS? I'm debating on getting all the bells and whistles.

 

I've got a limited boy I bought second-hand that had the sueding done by Volks and it was indeed done with pliver. But that was a couple of years ago, so I can't speak to the most recent batches.

 

Hey, guys. I'm sorry if this has been asked about before, but does anyone here have an older doll in sunlight? Does Volks' sunlight skin suffer from the 'greening' issue that I have seen with tan resin from other companies as it ages? I am seriously considering going for a sunlight SD boy next year, and would like to know what to expect in terms of aging.

Not sunlight, but I have an Irvin (pure skin ebony) from 2009 that I bought second hand in 2012, and he shows no signs of discolouration. I can’t say for sure that he hasn’t changed colour at all, but he’s definitely still a nice shade of brown.

 

I'm afraid I don't have any relevant pictures, but I have a sunlight girl from 2008 and her resin has aged very well! Compared to the extra hand parts that I bought at the same time that have been kept wrapped up in a drawer, she is just slightly less red-toned. I keep her indoors and away from windows, but she has been outside for occasional photoshoots and I do not consider myself particularly vigilant about light exposure.

I have no other sunlight skin dolls to compare her to, but she definitely doesn't look green to me. IMHO she has aged better than most of the older WS and NS dolls in the house. Her color is just less red toned than it was, but honestly I don't look at her and notice it like I look at an old WS/NS doll and notice the yellowing. My sister's ebony skinned Irvin still has a lovely color as well . . . Volks does really nice tans!

 

I have a picture of much older tan with newer, and as others have noted it seems to get gently less red hued than go any weird colours. I cannot get my tablet to cooperate with posting the image, but it is this one here The body is 2017, the head is considerably older, pre-2008 at least.

I had my SDM F43 sueded when I got her last year, and it is glued-in suede/faux suede! It is soooooo nice, I would highly recommend it. Definitely notice a difference between her and my other SDMs.

 

Nice! That sounds like what my MSD F20 had back in the day (long fallen out over the last 10+ years), but I wasn't sure if they cheaped out for the online orders. It definitely works way better than KIPS.

Now if only their website would stop declining my credit card, I could finally order my fauxShinku (F73) to go with my fauxSuigintou (F72.)

 

I got an older (bought second hand) sunlight F-31 sitting here. He's out in the open all day long, seven days a week, sitting next to his sweetheart. I can't see any "greening", his colour's still really nice but I guess I should dust him off. XD Seconding what Dolly and flowergirl said - I once bought a pair of sunlight hands that obviously were newer. They're slightly more reddish but that's about it.

 

Yeah, I was hoping that was the problem, but I already spoke to my bank about it. I'm going to try contacting the Volks office tomorrow and hopefully work it out. Really wish they took PayPal.

@eleniel I have all three that you mentioned and the SD13 Revival boy body is about the same height as the normal legged SD13 boy body.

Well it is The New Thing they're trying to push, so maybe that's all it is. Or maybe they want to push more people towards FCS and simultaneously have more limited limiteds. Or maybe they'll be adding all of this to the FCS sometime! We'll have to wait and see. I still wish they'd just named it something else though, the whole SD13 vs SDGr vs SDGr 13 Renewal thing is bound to get confusing.

 

I have a few in the gang, and can say with confidence that no one has turned green yet.

 

13 Renewal bodies? I’ve actually not heard of this body type, I must have been away for too long. I hope the knee, legs and ankle joints allow Date and Hasekura to sit with knee bent like traditional Japanese way of sitting. SD13 bodies won’t allow that.

 

eleniel thanks. It must be a good body type. I like SD13 bodies except that they cannot sit like Japanese.

Hey everyone! Sorry to interrupt on your conversation here. I just adopted a Creamy Mami head, and I'm trying very hard to find a body for the poor girl. I don't want volks bodies for various reasons...so does anyone know another good body that would work for a SD head? Thanks!

@stargazer_i So the SDGr13 body can do it, although it looks a bit awkward to me. But that could just be my bad posing skills. :P

 

Thanks @riversoblood and @Cloudedmind. So, SDGR13 (SD13 revival)....ok, a bit confusing but it can sit like a Japanese. That’s great.

Hard to explain in words but I find the SD17 body can be difficult to sit and stand upright because of that extra movable part/joint at the bump (connection between upper thigh and buttocks). SD17 bodies often fall backwards when sitting upright if not locked in position properly with that piece of connection. It’s difficult to lock in place when covered with clothes. SD13 bodies don’t have that problem which is why it’s easier to handle. I see the SDGR13 body has that extra piece of lock similar to SD17. I was hoping the SDGR13 or SD13 revival bodies don’t include that locking piece. In any case, I love the way the knees and ankle bend when seated like Japanese, that is very important for Date and Hasekura. They must be able to sit like Japanese.

 

@stargazer_i Like you I find getting the SD17 body to sit straight when clothed a bit of a chore. Mine also tends to want to lean backwards. However, so far I haven't had that problem with the SDGr13 body. It sits up straight fairly easily.

 

I don't know but I will tell you that Creamy Mami has a slightly larger head than most Volks girls that might help when thinking about options. ** it might help people if you let them know what kind of body you like. Do you prefer more mature girl body or younger? jointed waist? larger busts?

 

@cathyaqiong, I had my Creamy Mami head on a Crobidoll girl body for a while, and the proportions were good. The body was not nearly as posable as the SDGr girl body, but the color was fairly close. Echoing what @TreeLore said, CM is a pretty big head! For me personally, I love the SDGr body and the posability and grace are lovely, but ymmv!

 

I had a Yu Morisawa on a Maskcat body once. The resin match was good and I thought it looked OK. I can look for a pic if you'd like.

 

No problem. I couldn’t agree with you more. That extra part on the SD17 body drives me crazy. I’m really going to miss the old SD13.

 

Oh wow, so the sculpt is the same. I love the Date I have from 2011! He is a beautifu and versatile sculpt. I was tempted to get him again if they made any changes. Guess I'm safe this time around.

 

SDGR13 seems like a really weird choice for these characters, I think it's more fitting for the boy's boarding school story line and releases like that. I wonder what's the reasoning behind it.

This is really disappointing news about FCS this round. I really thought we'd get the SD16 and they would coincide with the FCS event at Sato. Well, I guess my wallet will be happy ....

I swore Volks had at least two periods last year for ordering SD16 and SDGrB. I remember drooling over the boys once before I caved on the second round. Other years have at least had the SD16 during October. But I could be mis-remembering.

 

There was definitely ordering for the SD16 & SDGr B in both June and October last year. I don't have great data for stuff before that, but they were also open in October for 2016 & 2015.

 

@HEEDLESS_X_FEI Ah, your Pearl is spectacular! What a lovely girl... it made me excited for the order period for FCS until I read it's the same sizes again. I mean, I'll be thrilled for whatever Volks brings us.

Volks USA just sent out an email that they will have another USA dolpa in September of 2019! They don’t say where yet. I’m hoping for the Midwest but I’m sure it will be California as usual.

 

Meanwhile I'm praying it's NYC lol but yeah, probably LA again and probably during Labor Day weekend again, making it one of the worst travel weekends of the year

 

One thing I will say is I think this puts to bed the earlier rumors that Volks USA will be closing it's doors next year.

However, I'm not seeing anything in the Facebook post that says LA. It just says Dolls Party USA, and that a location will be posted at a later date.

The last two have been in So. Cal and the VolksUSA staff are stationed in So. Cal so while it's completely possible they could hold it somewhere else, the chances are high that it'll be in So. Cal again.

I'm happy we're getting another one, and look forward to seeing what they bring.

 

I, for one, am thrilled that is the case! Yup, no date but interesting the colors are red, white and blue. Will we have a patriotic theme or do you think that is a place holder until they decide on a larger theme for the event?

I’m trying to find it but how do you know what heads are available in the upcoming fcs order period? The website give me nothing when i click on it and the other info I found was on the july order period, or is August going to be the same as July?
