Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXI

Aug 14, 2017

    1. I got the tracking number for my Ernest this morning. If I'm lucky I should have him by Monday.

    2. Thank you! That is very kind of you to say. Do you have a Saki too?

    3. Does anyone know how often Volks USA does their full choice service per a year? I know the last one happened in Oct. 2017, but I wonder when will be the next full choice. :(

    4. Yes, at me is Saki :3nodding:

    5. The problem with Volks is there is not clear what month they do it! and then you wait and see if the one or ones you want are offered. Because FCS on Volks site is limited to the couple of molds they pick.

Interested in what others have to say on this topic also!

    6. @rachel1222 Yeah, I am with @TreeLore - Volks USA is a honey badger and they do what they want in terms of their FCS timing. It also seems like they are doing more events this year (yay!:cheer) so that could impact their schedule as well?

      -just a guess-

I think they'll offer it in March this year! I wanna hear what other people think too!:3nodding:

    7. Hi everyone! Love looking at all the beautiful dolls in this thread. <3 Saki is such a sweetie! She has an innocent, demure look.

Had a question regarding one-off head plates - it has been on my mind for some time. Is there a reason why some one-off models have "one-off model" on the head plate whereas others have the standard number / letter code? Does anyone else have experience with this? ;) Of course I know my boy is a one-off model (he's signed inside of head) and I have the certificate and all the full set one-off items, but was curious as to why his head plate has the letter and number combination as opposed to the "one-off model" plate. Thanks in advance! I have been pondering this for some time as I think I have seen the same situation before with other one-off dolls.

    8. Volks has not announced yet if there will be a FCS coming up. But VolksUSA has always been pretty open to suggestions or requests from customers, especially in regards to what people want in the FCS (more in terms of what is already available in Japan). Id advise that you email them directly with questions or requests for what you would like to see in FCS.

    9. Oh I can't wait to see him! Make sure to spam us with tons of pictures in the gallery. :)

    10. I’m surprised to see Theodore and ernest available for buying on the volks store i guess the lottery was not too successful i dont understand because they are very handsome and i love their bodies very nice

So if anyone want them and miss the lottery they are there and still available :)

    11. :sumomo::sumomo::sumomo:

Yes! I came home and found a Volks Theo waiting for me! That EMS shipping sure is fast! I won’t have time to take photos tonight, but I hope to take pics and update my Flickr soon.

    12. Will do! I'm going to try and do some comparison pics between the new body, and the SDGr boy body and SD17 body, but that may have to wait until next weekend.
What is this magic!? Mine is still sitting at ICS. :P But, in all seriousness congrats. I can't wait to see your pictures. And here's to hoping mine shows up on Monday.

    13. I know what you mean! I checked my tracking number late last night, and it still stated “Inbound to Customs.” I expected the doll to be stuck in customs. Best case scenario: It gets delivered on Monday. But I was completely floored when I came home and found it delivered! :o

    14. Hi everybody, I'm new to the resin side of Volks' dolls and I wanted to introduce my SD16 Pearl.
I just had picked her up yesterday and I've been smitten with her smug face ever since <3
The name I've given her is Ada.

    15. What look! Very beautiful girl :loveCharming suit:)

    16. OMG she's so beautiful!! She's one of my favorite sculpts from Volks :)

    17. Congrats, Cloudedmind and Daniel Falls!! Please do share tons of pictures!!

I want one of these boys so bad, I think I'll be going for Theodore, but Ernest is adorable as well. The only thing that kinda puts med off is the white skin, none of my dolls is white and I'm scared of white skin yellowing badly. :(

I don't really care for the outfits though. If I do get one I will end up selling it.

Also, not too happy with their face-ups, specially the lips, but I want to see owner pics as I bet they will be better than the official ones.

    18. Keep your curtains closed don't let the light shine on directly. We have to live in the dark :-)

    19. My Ernest arrived today, but of course the electricity decided to go out on my block for three hours. When it finally came back on I didn't really have time to take pictures, so just opened him and did a quick once over. I don't have an SD13 body to compare him to, but the new body is sooooo nice. The jointing is the same as the SDGr body, and aesthetic wise the body looks thick and soft without feeling overly chunky.

    20. Congrats again, Cloudedmind!
I really want one of them too.

      Lol, Treelore. :thumbup
My concern is yellowing over time. Some of my NS or even tan skin have yellowed over the years, and I still remember the Luts Beaty white turning into Beauty Green.

Those of you who have Volks WS dolls, do they yellow badly?

    21. @himitsu I can't say much about Volks WS but I do have a CP/Luts Delf Moon in WS. The doll was made around 2006 (12 years old!) and even though I see the greenish hue, it's not that bad actually. Besides, the "green" is only visible during certain lighting conditions (mostly at night...which is hella weird). I say go for it, if you really want Ernest. Don't let the WS scare you off. I think that yellowing is not that drastic as long as you take proper care of your doll.

    22. I rescued my Ernest today from the post office and he’s so lovely, with hardly a seam on him and his face up is beautifully detailed though I’ll certainly change it in future as it isn’t what I have in mind for how he’ll look. Just a couple of iphone photos taken on a cloudy evening before it got too dark:

(I hope the images show up, it’s been ages since I posted photos on any forum :sweat)

    23. Hmmm I guess badly is subjective. My older WS Volks dolls have certainly yellowed even though I’ve never put them in direct sunlight and I keep them in my closet when I’m not playing with them. Personally I’m not bothered by the yellowing, I love WS dolls and the ethereal quality they have next to NS dolls even after they have yellowed :)

I can take comparison photos of Ernest with WC Chris and Kaelin to give you a sense of the yellowing, but they might have to be iphone photos as I had some home renovations done recently and my camera is still packed somewhere.

    24. I have an oldskin white Volks head (the old F-04 made in 2000) that looks about like buttercream frosting. The only times the yellowing is noticeable is when she's right next to my Peakswoods white doll or when she's in a platinum blond wig. Blushing her cheeks and putting her in a pink wig minimized the yellowing a lot.

    25. Congrats @Cloudedmind and @ashlia on your arrivals! Can't wait to see what you guys do with your respective dolls. :)

Yellowed Volks WS is nowhere near as bad as the Beauty Green era of Luts. My white MSD F20 has mostly lived in the dark for the last 8 years, but has mellowed to a light cream/ivory tone. She just looks a little warmer than the ethereal white of new white skin.

Still waffling on Ernest and Theodore. Mostly I'm interested in the new body so that my old SwD Lucas can pose better.

    26. I have some Volks WS hands from 2010 and they've mellowed slightly. Here's a picture of the hands on a brand new WS Volks body so you can see the difference. I think Volks WS ages quite beautifully.

On another note, I've been really tempted by Theodore even though I really don't need him. I just love his outfit and eye color! I wonder if Volks will start selling that original eye color “Amethyst” separately. I can think of 3 or 4 of my girls that need those eyes (but in like 20mm haha)

    27. Thank you for the help, @angelie23 , @Audrina Mystique and @baby~mermaid! I feel less scared of WS now, lol.

      He's super cute, @ashlia !! Congrats!! <3

If you can take comparison pictures, it would be great, I'd really appreciate it!

Volks is so evil, I want them both! :...(

    28. These are great photos, that's a wonderfully handsome and unique boy. I am sad to say I had to pass on this one just because I need to be good about finances as I start my new job (at least at first).

Does anyone know if SD-F-62 has ever been offered on Online FCS yet? I don't want to miss it and I'm afraid I will by not checking every month TvT

    29. Wasn't entirely sure where I should post this thread - but had seen similar archived threads posted here before so thought this might be the right place.

I have had a bit of a nagging question for some time regarding Volks One-off model head-plates:

Most of them are marked "one-off" but there are some with the standard letter / number code (I am thinking this correlates to the specific head mold / model). Is it only displayed one-offs that have the one-off headplate (like those at events / in store locations)? Do all the USA lottery dolls not have the one-off marked plate? I feel as though I have seen a mix of both.

A bit of a bizarre question but inquiring minds want to know - haha! :3nodding:

    30. Haven't decided on Ernest or Theodore yet, but in the meantime here's some Lucai spam for anyone in need...
      My F-16 Misha. <3

    31. F-62 was released through the Online FCS for the first time last year, I think either August or July. You should keep an eye on the second hand market, because there are people who may not have bonded with theirs once they came home.

    32. Aw, thank you for the info, I mostly collect WS so the chances are small that I would find a good match...plus I like the head as a boy and that doesn't seem popular for that sculpt. At least I know they've had it before and they could bring it back again when they don't have time to enter a new sculpt into the lineup! (Pretty certain they've done repeats of sculpts...been a little while since I checked)

    33. I'm curious about this as well. Is there any specific pattern or meaning we can derive behind what headplate gets attached to one-off SDs?

As one data point, Lady Sylvie from the last LA Dolpa has a letter/number code. I guess she fits the USA-based lottery classification you were proposing, then?

    34. @Holo's Apple Tree Very interesting! My boy is from the 2015 USA Holiday one-off lottery and has the letter/number code as well. Perhaps it is the USA dolls that do not have the one-off plates attached. The one-off dolls that I have seen perusing sites like Yahoo! Japan have the one-off plates. Intriguing!

    35. My Lucas is a one off and has the head plate just saying One Off Model but I think he's probably from Japan - painted by Saifa. I sometimes wish there was some sort of directory for the one offs, as it would be nice to see how he was originally dressed so I could see the idea behind the styling...I got his head in a trade but no body or clothing from the fullset.

I also have the orphan Masha from the orphans lottery from when the Volks USA store closed, and she has a plate but it's blank.

    36. With the Winter Games coming up did anyone see the Volks News limited Ice Skates on Twitter?
I enjoy the novelty of them so I kind of want them... But I'm not like DYING to get them.

Edit: I also wonder what the blades are made out of...are they actually metal? I'm guessing it's a type of plastic/resin but I'd be scared of them actually breaking or getting brittle over time lol...

    37. So Volks Korea closed at the end of last year. Is there another place to purchase Volks dolls inside of Korea now or is it a lost cause?

Was just wondering if anyone knew.

    38. Hey! I would like to ask if erasing a faceup off an older doll model is difficult and potentially damaging? Does anyone have any experience with that? I have a Volks okita from 2011 and volks belle from 2013 and I've heard somewhere that makeup seeps into the resin over time..Thanks in advance! <3

    39. [IMG]

My Kaelin is from 2011 and his resin is still a lovely creamy white. I love his little derp face.

    40. @CathyM just stripped the faceup off a very old Volks YoSD and the faceup did stain the resin, but I don’t think that’s the standard experience.

    41. I see, so it's safe to say that USUALLY it'll come off cleanly? That's great, thank you! :)

    42. I've cleaned a lot of faceups over the years, and only one has been a problem. I cleaned a default faceup from a 2005 YoSD SWD Suzuna this past weekend, and it was the hardest to remove. The eyebrows left a stain. It wasn't dark, but it was there. I had to lightly sand that area to remove them. But that isn't a normal experience.
