@Rikka_Mika I can't wait to see your army of Cocos! I finally have my WS F-60 (Coco) from one of last year's FCS all done up with a new faceup from Memento Mori and I love her! I'm still figuring out her eyes and wig though. I leaning toward red eyes and light hair...Anyway, Cocos are so sweet! I've contemplated having more than one in my collection too.

 

I have 18mm Vings in my Lorina and I think they're a good look. You can always go for 18mm with smaller iris if you're wanting more white to show.

Here's my Lorina in 20mm Ethereal Angels Gumdrop eyes. I also have another pair of Rosenlied 20mm glass eyes that I like on her too, so I think 20mm is my favorite size for her, which surprised me. I thought they'd be too big.

Oh wow, you're totally right! I saw $900 on the Angel's Den site about FCS but their information must be quite outdated.

Volks site says $638 which is not that bad. I'm still meh about the body, but admittedly I am a bit of a joint snob and spoiled by the lovely engineering of Fairyland dolls. On the bright side, most of the pretty clothes on Taobao are made for SD13 and not the thinner bodies so perhaps there's a perk to having this classic doll shape.

@ruskyles @baby~mermaid You both have such gorgeous F-60 girls, my goodness! I wholeheartedly support this F-60 train, and I would love to see more if anyone else wants to share their pretty Cocos!

So now that the August FCS period has begun, my plans have changed a bit. I've decided to up my order to 6 dolls instead of 5.

I'm going to order:
1. F-60 in Sunlight skin with B-03, L-02, FO-01, H-03, H-01, GE-03 eyes in 18mm with the Boy Type faceup.
2. F-60 in Sunlight skin with B-02, L-01, FO-01, H-07, H-01, GE-14 eyes in 18mm with the Girl Type faceup.
3. F-60 in White skin with B-02, L-01, FO-01, H-07, H-01, GE-01 eyes in 18mm with the Girl Type faceup.
4. F-60 in Normal skin with B-03, L-02, FO-01, H-03, H-01, GE-22 eyes in 18mm with the Boy Type faceup.
5. F-60 in Normal skin with B-02, L-02, FO-01, H-04, H-01, GE-02 eyes in 18mm with the Girl Type faceup.
6. F-60 in Normal skin with B-02, L-01, FO-01, H-07, H-01, GE-21 eyes in 18mm with the Girl Type faceup.

I have ordered the first doll already, but unfortunately upon trying to order the second doll my order was declined and this all happened 15 minutes before my bank and Volks closed, so I was not able to get in touch with either one today to find out which side the problem is on. I've emailed Volks and am waiting to hear back, and I'll stop by my bank tomorrow after work to see if there is anything I need to do to continue placing the rest of my orders.

I hope everyone else has been having better luck with their FCS orders!

 

@Rikka_Mika wow! A legion of Cocos! It is a super cute sculpt. You must take a photo of your Coco-brigade altogether at some point!

Does anyone know if the SD-FO-02 feet in fcs are high heel feet? Judging from the shadow under the foot they must be, but without a side profile photo it's hard to be certain. If it is a high heel, would you say these are easy to find fitting shoes for?

Gah, I shouldn't have said anything before - with dolls it's always such a slippery slope to spending. First I think oh that's nice but I won't, then oh it's a lower price than expected? Nice to know but still nah. Then five minutes later I'm on the site choosing my hypothetical pieces/parts for the doll that I am semi-definitely-firmly-maybe not going to order...juuust to see...

I'm giving myself til the last day to decide. I'm dithering between sunlight skin and normal skin as well...

 

I just wanted to give a shout-out to @Isenn and her partner for letting me adopt her spare Lorina/Jo girl!! So happy right now!!!!!

 

@stray.dream I believe the F-02 feet are in fact the high heel feet. I don't own a pair so I wouldn't know anything about the fit!
I always loved the sunlight skin myself but I guess it'll depend on how much you care about sanding marks if you ever need to sand seam lines.

Yes, the FO-02 feet are high heel feet. I have 3 pairs of them and I never use them because they are hard to find shoes for. Most shoes sold as high heel are SDGr girl/SD16 girl high heels, which are way more heeled than the SD heeled feet. And the arch in the FO-02 feet makes it where they can't wear a lot of standard SD girl shoes, it's pretty frustrating. They are cute for sitting, shoeless photos, though!

Dollheart used to make some SD heeled feet shoes, but I haven't seen them release any in years. I think because the SDGr/SD16 heels are more profitable and easier to sell for the hassle of making the shoes.

Just placed my FCS order for F62 ! So excited to be getting the SD A03 arms for better and easier photo posing.

 

I am very tempted by the Saki head sculpt and F-62 for this months FCS. I really would love a F-62 boy, I think. LA Dolpa 2017 will be here soon though. Decisions, decisions!

@meowzetta @Rikka_Mika thanks for the info! Glad I asked, I was leaning toward the heel feet in hopes they'd fit more shoes than regular feet. Now I'll stick with the regular feet, if I do this.

I keep looking at the instagram tag sd_f_62. The first F62 that drew my attention was pale, but the more I look at the tan one the more I like that color.

So glad at least the arms on these bodies are double jointed now. Pity the legs aren't - I feel like double jointed is practically industry standard for bjds now - but hey, better than nothing.

 

@stray.dream No problem! I love the sunlight F62s too! There's been a particularly elvish one in the tags I've been very fond of. It's an incredibly charming sculpt either way.

Volks always seems to lag behind on the body articulation especially on the SDs. But there are benefits in a simpler body that people may prefer. I'd probably only go for a suwaricco SD just to give them a bit more options for posing though.

 

@Rikka_Mika check Leekeworld for SD shoes that will fit the SD/SD13 heel feet. The SD16/Gr ones are listed under the DD size there, but the SD ones that are heels should fit that foot.

@stray.dream because the heel feet can only be bought in FCS, I always buy them because I can get the regular feet later.

 

@ruskyles Congratulations on ordering your F-62! I'm really looking forward to seeing the photos on your Flickr account once your order arrives!

@stray.dream I know exactly what you mean! I keep wishing and hoping Volks will someday release double-jointed legs for their SD dolls like the ones the SDM body has. It seems like it shouldn't be that hard to implement, but then again, Volks SDs are pretty heavy... The heavier the doll, the harder it is to make high quality/useful jointing systems.

@InvisibleWings Thank you very much for the shoe hunting suggestion! Leekeworld does have a few cute options, but I still wish there were more selection around for the high heel feet. I should just get off my butt and learn to make shoes properly myself!

 

Congrats on ordering F62! I was thinking of ordering her as well but I am having a hard time choosing the eye size. I like pics with her eyes turned upwards. Any suggestions on the size? This will be my first Volks doll with the eyes turned upwards.

 

I chose to order F62 blank since I'll probably commission a custom faceup for her -- so I didn't get any eyes. Generally, I use an eye size smaller than the ones that are default, but that doesn't help you with your question. Sorry.

 

@callasdoll In the FCS book I noticed that the F-62 has a little more whites showing with the 18/9mm eyes. (I think plain 16mm eyes would have some gapping on the sides since the eye holes seem a little big.)

I think the ones on the site are just 18mm since the actual iris looks bigger. I personally think that the 18/9mm look really good and give her a piercing stare. Though in the end it's all up to everyone's personal preference lol

@InvisibleWings, thanks for pointing out Leeke! That's a good point about the availability. I like the heels available for sdgr/sd16 feet so much better though, sadly - especially the shoes by S&Q on Taobao.

Another Volks n00b question: are the sdgr/sd16 high heel parts available to order separately anywhere in the sunshine skin, and if so would they fit on the sd13 body? I am guessing the answer is a no, but might as well make sure.

As far as I can tell (Volks n00b here as well) the SD16 high heels are built into the legs. When I looked at the July US FCS, the high heels were of a one piece with the legs, where the flat feet had the ankle joint. Though I don't know the size of the hip joint to know whether the SD16 legs can be swapped with the SD13 body.

 

The heel legs for SD16 and SDGr are slightly different (in how they connect and length), and heel legs are one solid piece from the knee down. They do not have separate 'feet' per se but an entire lower leg. SD16 has been available in sunglight only through FCS (and possibly only USA FCS, but I can't confirm that). The legs of the SD16 could not be put on an SD13 because the way the legs seat into the hips are not the same.

If this isn't making sense, I could grab a few pictures.

There was a 3 month period in 2016 where Sunlight SD16's were available at Sato FCS - this is where @Kiriya1103 on Instagram's Sunlight SD16 F62 girl comes from Other than this period, you are correct in that Sunlight SD16 dolls are USA FCS only for the moment.

 

I do not need another F-59 I haven't even made up my mind on ordering clothes and shoes and wigs for the one I have. No. Bad.

 

@davri @InvisibleWings @Chobittum thank you all for the info! It's too bad, but I'm sure I can think of a way around it. I think I'll go with normal skin so if the single joint knees bother me too much it won't be too hard to find a hybrid with a body that has double joint knees and optional high heel legs similar to SDGr. I really like the Switch girl body. Who knows, I might unexpectedly love the SD13 girl body as it is. I do have an ancient Lishe Delf body that I like a lot despite its simple joints. But I bought that doll precisely because it was a very early, oldschool bjd so I kind of evaluate it differently, as a "vintage" piece - I'm more fussy about a brand new 2017 doll.

 

@stray.dream - I have a boy on a Feeple 65 body, and let me tell you, I hate it. Finicky, unstable mess. I truly wish he had the sort of beautifully engineered, perfectly stable, and just pretty Volks joints my Volks doll have. I can leave them standing for hours without ever fearing them falling over. They never look awkward. They have a great locking system. There's just something truly lovely about Volks bodies and how well designed and aesthetically pleasing they are in their own right.

I'd say get the high heel feet since they're FCS only, and then buy the regular flat feet separately. They are good for adding stability in shoes with a moderate heel, and since Volks has the one touch system it's easy to trade the feet out depending on what shoe you're using.

Gah. I hate waiting.... I'm starting to get really antsy for Seema (my FCS Amethyst) to ship, even though I know it's probably going to be several more weeks, at least. 'Late August, I think the email said...

It's not helping at all that I pulled the other members of the Huntsmen gang out of the cabinet for cleaning and elastic-checking this afternoon. I keep looking over at them (The boys are an Alain, a Hijikata and a Prince Claude-) and wondering if she really will match them as well as I think she ought to... I've never actually seen an Amethyst "in person" so to speak. Only in pictures... So, there's some uncertainty involved. That is NOT helping.

I think I need some Amethyst spam to help the wait go by.

 

OH, UGH. I did it. I ordered the F-62.

Seriously, after years of quietly customizing and not buying...2017 will be the year the dollz won.

Congrats to everyone ordering this month! I'm really looking forward to some f-62 spam in a few months. If it weren't for Dolpa I'd probably be slipping in an order for a WS f-62 boy.... I hope they offer this sculpt again soon.

I am so happy that Volks added F-62. I emailed them late last year suggesting to bring F-62 to US FCS, and 9 months later they did?! Even if it wasn't because of the request, it makes me really happy. I like to believe that they did really listen to their fans! I can't help myself but order 2 of them, one SD13 girl in sunlight skin and another is a split head in PS Normal with boy make up to put on my existing SDGr boy body.

I can't get enough of how pretty the sculpt is. I love sharp, catty looking eyes. I think almost all my dolls have them. I just need the PS White to complete the F-62 army but I already have too many PS Whites

 

Suigintou is very very pretty with shadow skin. Although I think I'm totally over chasing this doll. Good luck to the people entering.
