3. My Beth is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I picked out a wig and outfit for her today.:whee:
Also, I would like to share my new FCS girl, her name is Shay. :daisy

4. She is sooo pretty. Which FCS is she?

5. She's so lovely @Lady Kanna I love her blue colors!!!

I took some pics of my Dreamy Will, Grimoire, recently after he received a special crown.

6. That's very helpful, thank you!
Sadly I don't have the head yet T__T but I agree, it's a super cute mold! I fell in love at once when I saw photos of a F-69 modelling clothes on the Volks USA site.

This is good to know, thanks.
Are the inside of the molds sculpted such that only flatter domes will fit? I really like Miyabi eyes but they often seem to have very raised irises.

7. Thank you so much Isenn, she is a WS F-63. I'm so happy with her. :daisy

Thank you Ravenwolf! Grimoire looks amazing in his new beautiful crown, it really is special. :3nodding:

Also, my Beth has arrived home and she is lovely. :D

8. I have to wait until the end of the workday before going home to see my Beth, but my husband assured me that she's safe and sound inside the house. :cheer This is really exciting. My first SDGR body and white skin Volks doll.

9. Everything about this is so incredible.

I just got my Jo today. Everything about her is perfect. The quality is super, as usual. I really dislike her default faceup. I need to figure out who is going to repaint her.

10. I must be in the minority; Jo's default face-up is part of what sold me on her! She's so unlike Alice and Lorina, and has a saucy attitude -- and a brunette into the bargain! She'll be very busy giving grief to my vain Ami Ayase :XD:

11. Hey, guys. I have a quick question - I entered the DolPa 37 lottery for SD clothing and won, so I paid the day I received the winner's email, but a week has gone by and I still haven't received a shipping notice. I'm starting to get anxious. How long does it typically take Volks to send out shipping notices on lottery items?

12. Same! I have Lorina already and I was so drawn to the mid-century mod of Jo. I can't wait to put her in bobbed hair and find her some saucy fifties suits to wear.

She should get here tomorrow!!

• x 1
13. I also love her faceup. I picked up a bobbed wig for her, after seeing those great pix of her in 50's fashions. Now that she's here (still at the post office, though, until I can get her tomorrow), I hope to have some great fashions made for her. I do love the Jo outfit, too, so she will definitely be wearing that, but I look forward to redressing her in more modern clothes as well.

14. Congrats on the new arrivals guys <3.

On Facebook, Volks shared that they will be having two Limited Dear SD dolls for Dolpa! Vanessa and Tiffany ^^. They look very cute.

And Saki is returning for the August Free Choice :love

15. Do eeeet

16. So I have allowed myself to oops into buying a Kurumi. I've always wanted one, so excited to really give her an interesting look. Does anyone know if 18mm eyes work for her?

• x 1
17. If I weren't saving for Dolpa I would XD.

18. @Selenae

Was it on the VolksUSA site? If it was a Dolpa item it can take a while. The last Dolpa item I ordered was on 02/21 and was shipped 4/8. I don't think that VolksUSA actually has the items in hand when they do their Dolpa lottos.

19. @Kim I don't own a Kurumi but Angelden says she came with 20mm glass eyes. So maybe it will depend on the look at the brand? Congratulations on her! Kurumi is adorable!

20. From what VolksUSA has shared on Facebook, it looks like the available head sculpts will be F-01, F-42 (Elena), F-59 (Saki), F-60 (Coco), and the new F-62. I am really tempted with the F-62. May need a sultry girl in my collection.

21. It's a double doll day today! Jo arrived at my house and Cain got here from my deputy service. Can't wait to get everyone unpacked and dressed!

• x 4
22. F-62 and F-01?! Nooooooooooooooooo! It's great that they're bringing in different heads for the US FCS, but man the timing sucks.
Doooooooo iiiiiiiiittt! (I totally don't have this search bookmarked. Nope.)

23. F62!!! My grail!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Plus it's tax return time in Australia, so the timing is perfect!!!!

Actually guys, I need some advice - there's a F62 head also come up for auction, so I am trying to decide whether it would be worth buying just the head, or buying a full doll. Being as this FCS is for SD and not SD16, it's not the body that I want, because I'm after a more mature body for her.
At what point should I say it's worth buying the full doll and selling off the less mature body instead of buying just the head?

24. @Chobittum I've had my eyes on the same auction until I saw F-62 is going to be a part of this upcoming FCS. As much as I love her face-up, I have a feeling she will go for a high price. I personally prefer to get one through FCS and paint the head to my own liking. But the decision is yours, of course.

I'm just really excited to see F-62 being offered. There's no way I'll miss this opportunity even though I told myself no more dolls this year. ;A;

• x 1
25. @Chobittum Id say find a split partner who wants to upgrade an existing characters SD body to the new double-jointed bodies that FCS offers, and specify which skin tone you'd like. Maybe when they offer SD16 again, you can contact the same person to order for you.

I also have seen that auction and had the page saved. I think the price is too high considering you'd get it about same price or less through FCS. Also, I like the FCS faceup option better.

• x 1
26. Hey guys, thanks very much for the input :) I think you guys are right on the money on this one, and getting my own full doll would be the best option. So excited!!! :D

Edit: @Daniel Falls @purplepaws Good call on that auction btw - it went for 60000 yen, almost the same cost as a brand new FCS hehe.

30. Well, it got late last night so Jo still isn't opened and I only have quick and dirty pics of my Cain. But Volks hit it out of the park with him, I cannot get over how beautiful and disdainful and PERFECT he is.

Meet Karidian, also known around these parts as His Royal Jerkface.

33. So I uploaded my pics from unboxing my FCS. I'll create a thread for that in a bit. This is her without her wig, I'm waiting on a wig cap to get it set right. Sorry the pic is kind of crappy, I took it with my cell phone. She's a F-61, I just liked the innocence the sculpt had.

34. I'm so excited that F60 is coming back for the August FCS cycle! :D I've been waiting and waiting for this since I collect Cocos exclusively. I'm going to buy at least 5 of them with multiple color and body options! I just can't get enough Cocos.

35. To all those on the fence about f-62 I say go ahead and do it! I almost want to order another one in sunlight skin, as I love my first one so very much. she's a beautiful sculpt and I would love to see more of her on the forum!

@Lisianthus Jo is gorgeous and I loved the wig you picked for her- pure glam!
@Rikka_Mika I can't wait to see you acquire more Coco(s)! I have to be honest, Coco is an absolute favorite sculpt for me. Having her in FCS white skin would be amazing~~

36. I can't decide between ordering an F 62 or Coco. I want to make a white skin version but I could only get one of them.

37. Hey guys, I could really use some opinions about SD girl bodies if you all would be so kind as to share your views. :) All of my current SD Cocos have the B-01 non-jointed torso with L-01 short legs in Normal Skin. I'm going to order 5 more SD Cocos from the FCS in August, and I can't decide between body and leg options.

I was wondering what you guys think of the B-02 body with the torso joint? I originally picked the B-01 body because it stands like a rock since it isn't always fighting the pull of the elastic tension through the torso that can make jointed torso dolls prone to wanting to pull a fetal position pose. However, I have been slightly irritated by the inability to swivel their torsos and the inability to make them hunch forward or back lately.

I'm wondering if the extra posability is a worthwhile trade off for the extra instability the body comes with? What do you all think? It has been years since I've handled an SD doll with a jointed torso and I'm wondering if I want to venture down that road again or just stick to solid torso dolls.

I'd really love to hear about the past experiences and opinions you guys have on the matter! :aheartbea

38. I have owned pretty much all of the Volks SD, SD13, and SD16 pureskin girl body options with the exception of the SDGr girl body over the years, and I honestly do not think the split torso bodies are less stable than the solid jointed bodies. I was comfortable leaving any of them standing unaided once they were locked into a good position, even my SD16 girl in heels. Now, the oldest bodies are a different story but the jointing engineering on them is different than any of the currently available bodies.

I think you're more than safe getting the split torso or the swarriko body or the SD13 girl body. The snapping to a fetal position issue to me is always associated with dolls that are strung too tightly and that don't have locking joints.

• x 1

39. wow, what are you going to do with so many cocos? lol

• x 2
40. I don't currently have an SD girl, but I used to.
The one piece torso SD10 girl body is absolutely gorgeous, but my favorite for posing and playing with is the suwarrico set up.
I haven't handled the jointed torso with standard legs setup so I can't say one way or the other on that.

• x 1
41. Thank you all so much for your valuable feedback! :) It is true that I haven't played with a jointed torso SD since they switched over to the new body type, so it may be a prejudice against the older style I am remembering rather than all of the posing problems being attributed to the torso joint. I'm glad to hear people who have played with the jointed torso in recent years have had no issues, and that people have enjoyed the jointed torso suwarikko body! That really alleviates my anxiety about choosing a body and worrying I'll be disappointed in it. Now the task is to narrow down the options for each specific doll. *_* Why do I feel like this battle of indecision is only half won...

I wish the Volks USA FCS offered the Suwarikko body, I would really like some of those with A-03 arms, but sadly that isn't an option they offer. :( I keep watching for a Suwarikko body with A-03 arms to pop up on the marketplace in Normal Skin, but I never manage to spot them before they have been snapped up, otherwise I would get several of those.

Take over the world with an SD Coco army, I guess. In all seriousness, I have dozens (maybe over a hundred, I haven't counted...) of outfits being split between 4 SD Cocos right now and it seems like such a waste to have so many clothes not being worn by anyone. Plus, I always love having more Cocos with new, different faceup styles and I had been waiting for Volks to re-release F-60 at their FCS for about a year. I really can't pass up the chance after waiting so long.

So far for the head and faceups the plan is: 1 Sunlight skin Coco with girl style makeup, 1 White skin Coco with girl style makeup, 2 Normal skin Coco with girl style makeup, and 1 Normal skin Coco with boy style makeup but a girl body to be my tomboy Coco. :kitty2 I'm also planning to get one of the DearSD Coco heads and put it on an SD body once they are available. That will make a total of 10 SD Cocos. I'm still trying to sort out who will be on which body to bring some diversity to the collection, though.

I'm honestly tempted to get one or two blank Cocos during the August release to send to faceup artists with wild themes to vary my Coco collection even more. I really enjoy seeing different looks on Cocos and I always love them immensely. Basically, I only collect Cocos because when I have other dolls in my collection they always get waaay less attention than my Cocos do because I'm so drawn to their face. To fix that attention split, now I just get Cocos when I want more dolls and that hasn't led me astray yet! I have never met a Coco I didn't love lol. So the short answer with what I'm going to do with so many Cocos is: I will love them. :D

42. @nakitaninja , thank you for posting your most lovely F-62. I wasn't certain if Volks would every offer her. Which body would you suggest for her. The Volks FCS would be for SD or SD13.
Thank you!

43. If I had infinite money, I'd be picking up an F62 boy with this month's FCS. As it stands, I feel like I NEED to own a Cain.

Finally found a good use for Kei's default as it fits my sourpuss Severine perfectly.

44. @Kim thank you for sharing a LIZ. I love this doll so much. Hoping one day they release her. She has real attitude in the photo above.

Sharing my Jo. I plan to repaint her face myself, but I always like to photo graph them with their original face-up. I decided against dressing her in her default outfit. Maybe because it's hot in Cali, I can't bring myself to drape her in all that heavy black fabric. The outfit she comes with must weigh like 4 pounds. So I put her in something more summery and gave her lighter hair.

45. @Rikka_Mika I must say I really admire your dedication to Cocos! After chopping and changing my collection so much recently, it's nice to see someone who knows exactly what they want from their collection. Are you going to keep the DSD body for another Coco or stick with SDs? From what I've seen clothing is mostly interchangeable amongst the two bodies so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Good luck building that Coco army! Those group shots are going to be insane!

46. Hey you're welcome!:D I'd definitely say SD13 all the way for her- she also looks fantastic on SDGr and SD16. The F-62 is just a little bit more mature so the SD13 body fits nicely. I also suggest springing for the sanding and sueding if possible- it's really nice to have it done!:aheartbea

@Kim Gorgeous photo. I love how crisp it is and you can see every detail! Lovely~

@Isenn You always have my favorite photos.:3nodding: I love the pink with her red hair- just beautifully styled and captured. Looking forward to seeing her repaint!:aheartbea

47. @meowzetta Thank you so much, that is very sweet of you to say! :) When I get the DSD Coco I'm going to get rid of the DSD body and stick to SD bodies for my girls. I think I'll put that head on a Suwarikko FCS body with A-03 arms. I've actually made my own Dear SD Coco some time ago before Volks ever announced they were going to make one and while it is cute, I found the clothing does not interchange as seamlessly as Volks would have you believe. I was rather disappointed with how much smaller the torso was on the DSD and how ill-fitting it made all the SD clothes I own. Here is a size comparison picture of my own DSD Coco with one of my SD Cocos:

[IMG]SD & DSD Coco by Primrose, on Flickr

I sew a lot of my own clothes, too. I resized two of my bodice patterns for the DSD and by the time I finished those two, I looked at my folder of bodice patterns that I have in SD size, and decided I was absolutely NOT going to go through that headache for all of the patterns! It is such a hassle to me, I find absolutely no joy in resizing patterns, so that really killed the DSD body for me.

Because of that, I'm actually having to question myself very hard on if I want to order any of the B-03 bodies in August. I've had the B-03 M bust body in the past and it wasn't able to share clothes with a lot of my girls since all of them are small bust and none of the clothing I have with a fitted bodice will fit the bigger bust. :( It is a tough choice I'm still struggling with, because the body is honestly super gorgeous but I'm worried if I got it that I would sell it again from clothing frustration like I did last time. Maybe I can just convince myself it is okay if they can't wear everything, I still have a lot of clothes they can wear even if not every outfit will fit them.

48. @nakitaninja
Thank you! I gotta say, I feel like this year is my year of dolls. I have Jo, Williams in September and.....I realllllyyyyy want that FCS62! I've been trying to ignore all the excitement but UGH! WANT. I already have far too many doll projects underway. I would need to sell a girl to justify that beauty. As always, I love your girl.

• x 1
49. @Isenn - thank you! She's my grumpy gus so she's always got an attitude. Liz's last release was 2005, you would think she would be due for one. And your Jo looks great with the red wig! She/Lorina are on my to buy list to reshell my one girl and she's a carrot redhead.

@nakitaninja - Thank you! I feel like it has been forever since I managed an even in focus doll photo lol

51. @Kim I really love Liz. She is the doll that made me want to collect Volks and she still stands as one of my favorite all time sculpts. Something in the eyes. She looks like she is thinking about something. I think that's more of a challenge with some Volks molds and it's why I normally prefer the serious expressions of Lucia molds over my newest arrival. Working with the Lorina sculpt will be fun and new for me because her features are are bit more straight up sweet than I normally go for. Please share more photos of your moody Liz.

52. Everyone's dolls are so pretty! I feel like Volks is one of those companies whose sculpts always look better in owner pics than in the official promo pics.

I love F62, but I find it difficult to justify $900 plus shipping for a doll with such a basic body (and especially since I've seen that body value to be only around $200 or less on instagram, which means I'd be throwing down $700 for a non-limited edition head). I wish the Sdgr girl body was an option in FCS, that seems like a much better deal for the price and personally I think that body is much more flattering.

Still, it's a little tempting because I really live F62 and had not expected that head to ever become available to US FCS customers. I follow the Volks instagram and find that just about always my favorite Volks heads are FCS from Japan only locations.

53. Here's my Jo! She's in her original outfit. I'm going to commission a couple of dresses that are similar to the 50's style dresses that Volks had as part of their display, since I love that look, but that won't be until later this year. Until then, I'll be trying out some of the other SD-sized outfits and wigs I have.

54. Okay, I'm confused. I thought the split torso type body of SD is the Suwarikko body. And please explain what the A-03 arms are -- I've searched all the sources of information I can find, and don't see anything about them. I want to order the split torso body with double jointed arms in the August FCS.

55. Think of it this way: F62 are limited by location to the most exclusive part of the Volks club (Sato). Whatever dosh you'd be spending for just the head also encompasses whatever methods you'd normally have to use to get it - expensive proxies, flights and accommodation to Kyoto, stuff like that. I'd even go as far to say that because this is (so far) the only time this sculpt is available outside of Sato, during a time-limited period, that it's definitely a limited edition head.
You should definitely go for it :)

56. So with the Beth/Jos coming home and people occasionally selling the outfits, anyone with them also have an SD13 girl and can tell me if either outfit will fit one? I suspect not but I figured I'd ask. X3

57. @Rikka_Mika
That’s rather a shame that the DSDs aren’t super compatible with the SD bodies. It is very cute though!

For the M bust bodies, it really depends on how you collect. I have a few incompatible body types but it doesn’t really bother me because I tend to collect clothes with a certain doll already in mind and when things don’t fit I can just rationalise it as their body type or out of character to have clothes in a certain style. But if you make a lot of your own clothes I can understand not wanting to constantly have to adjust patterns to make things work. While I don’t have much experience with the SD bodies, my suggestion is to give the body to a Coco that image wouldn’t work with the others so it wouldn’t make sense for them to share clothes in the first place. Maybe your tomboyish Coco would work since she probably won’t wear the girlier or frillier clothes of the other Cocos in the first place, it won’t matter that they don’t fit. But it’s all up to what you want your dolls to be able to do!

@ruskyles
The split joint torso with the S bust is usually the Suwaricco body but there doesn't seem to be an option to add the Suwaricco legs. And the A-03 arms are the new double jointed SD arms. Here's where most of the information can be found if you need to know anything more! The US FCS does seem to have more limited options even in body types so unfortunately not all of these are available.

58. They should fit, except possibly the shoes, since they are for high-heeled feet. I have the Beth outfit on a Customhouse Choa, who is similar to SD-13 sized, and it (and the wig) fits fine, except for the shoes. SD Graffiti girls aren't that much different in size or shape from the SD-13 girls

59. Ohhhh -- okay ! So the legs are also key in determining a Suwaricco body. I see the difference in the leg tops with the slots or grooves that allow the cute sitting position with legs sort of splayed out. In regard to arms, the A03s (double jointed) ARE offered in the August FCS; just not in combination with the Suwaricco legs. Thank you for clearing that up ! :)

60. @stray.dream That $900 dollar price tag is really high.... Are you planning to order your doll through proxy from Japan? Or are you basing the cost off the old price of FCS when it was only available when the store in LA was still open.

The US Basic Online FCS will run you around $640 + Shipping without a Face-Up. If you order all the bells and whistles like face-up, sueding, seam removal and coating it'll be around Nine-Hundo.

---

In other news ~ I got my Jo! At first I wasn't crazy about her default outfit and was planning on selling it... But actually having it in my hands made me fall in love with it. My only gripe was that I had to undo the corset lacing on the back to be able to get the bodice on. My favorite part about the outfit was actually the lingerie. (To be honest, I didn't even know that she was going to come with a bra...)

What is everyone's favorite eyes for Lorina/Alice/Jo? After wrestling out the hot glue, I tried some 14mm and 16mm Enchanted Doll eyes on her, but was mega-turned off by the gapping on the sides near the sclera... I just napped some 18mm and 20mm eyes off the Marketplace to try out sizing... But I'm scared that they're going to make her look like an alien.
