Thank you to everyone who confirmed that my new, as-yet-unnamed boy is indeed a F-17. And, yes, despite his lack of a name he's nonetheless settled in here very quickly and I'm pleased that he appears to be a fan of the old Volks outfit he's got on as it's one I've always liked and it makes me happy to have someone wearing it again.

Hi I hope it is ok to ask for some opinions here about changing my doll's default face up. I'm buying a SDGr Joe second hand on layaway so I have awhile to decide. I really love the default but at the same time I want her to have a softer look and I found the perfect face up style for her but I'm wondering if I change her face up would I regret it later? What do you guys think I should do? Thanks for any advice you could offer me.

 

Yeah I was thinking I would probably wait a few weeks or a month before I made my final decision on it. I just always imagined my Lorina with a soft face up.

 

I hope this is the right thread, but I just bought an SD10 Magical Michael and was wondering if a Leekeworld 8/9 wig would fit him? I don't have him yet.

 

An 8-9 should work, since Magical Michael officially wears a DD-sized wig (Volks-speak for 8-9).

As other have said, you need to make the final decisions.

In my house only Black Jack and Kinoko are staying as default since I bought them for the characters they represented. Other than that everyone of my volks have their default wiped.

 

Apparently the Dolls Party 37 stuff that was in a recent Volks News is going to be lottery sold, at least on the VolksUSA site.

It's the kimono style stuff. And limited things for Rin and Len.

Oooh, and I like the corset dresses that are the July release. Though I have to admit, I'd be happier if th there was a baby blue or mint green version. But that's just because blues and greens are my favorite colors.

 

which deputy service do you guys use for YJ auctions? I was a bit away from the hobby for a while although I kept
up with dolly hobby privately. I used to use rinkya a long time ago but seems like everything has changed and it's very
hard to navigate as compared to before.

 

@davri, you're in luck, there WAS a minty green-blue version of those same corset dresses released in 2016! (In both DD/SD16 size and a SD/SD13/SDG size, iirc, that page just only lists the former because the site is more used by DD people.) It should be floating around in the aftermarket and not too elusive, i'm sure i have seen it on Mandarake.

 

I was thinking today, that we're getting close to LA Dolpa and the tea party! I'm very excited to go, since this is the first time we've had the opportunity to attend an LA event.

I see a bunch of information for the tea party, but I haven't seen much about LA Dolpa in general. Can any of you remark on what kind of convention it tends to be? I went to Dollism in NY, but that was several different companies and more of a collector-driven convention. Does Dolpa itself typically have a 'vendor hall' type area? Do you think they will have one-offs separate from the Tea Party?

 

Volks Dolpas only feature Volks dolls. All dolls in official attendance are Volks.When you say "collector-driven" did you mean "run and staffed by doll collectors?" In that sense, then this is a company-sponsored event instead.

Dolpa does have a vendor room. It's mostly Volks merchandise but Volks does sell third-party merchandise as well, mainly dressmakers from Japan. Last time, people formed one line, pulled a random number from a box, Volks (basically) pulls a random number, and the number they pulled becomes the start of the line. They let a few people in at a time to shop.

Previous events had merchandise being sold in the same event as the tea party . But if like last time, then Oneoffs would be part of the tea party and separate from the vendor hall.

 

@Daniel Falls I figured as much. By "collector-driven" I meant it wasnt run by a company like Volks and more it was run by collectors and sponsored by many companies. I was curious, since it was definitely only going to be Volks, what the experience was like.

 

ShoppingMallJapan has been my go-to for probably 15 years, back when I collected anime cels rather than little resin people.

@bjmommy, I can second SMJ! Make sure you set it up in advance as they have to process a clear on your credit card, even if you intend to pay for your purchase with PayPal. Otherwise it works great! (Random specific other issue: make sure if you're bidding on an item that has a BIN, and you want to try to snipe bid (last-minute bid) toward the end of the time for less than the BIN price, put in your max price as like one yen less than the BIN, otherwise no matter how low the bids are your bid will be the BIN!)

It has been a while since I have stopped by this thread. I just received my new girl back from Nomyens yesterday and I thought she should be introduced to my fellow Volks SD lovers. I asked Noymens to mod one of my Volks SD Coco girls into a sleeping head for me, and then do a simple and sweet faceup. I'm blown away by it, the work is astounding!

Charm is a normalskin F60 I ordered from the Japanese FCS with a custom Volks faceup, and A-03 arms.
Dream is a normalskin Coco standard that was modded to sleeping eyes, with the modding and faceup work done by Nomyens.
Cherish is a normalskin Coco standard I ordered from Volks USA and I left her default makeup, but I changed her eyelashes. Oh! I also swapped out her default body with a new SD body I purchased from the Volks USA FCS that has A-03 arms.

I really need to get more bodies with the A-03 arms when the next FCS period rolls around... Speaking of FCS, after seeing my sleeping Coco, I really hope Volks will one day release an official SwD Coco like they have done with their other old standard models! I think it goes without saying, but I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Volks USA just sent an email saying that Jo and Beth have arrived and that they will be shipping out our girls soon.

Just received my update from Volks. Jo and Beth have arrived in the US and mailing orders are going out.

I was really hoping that my FCS girl would come next month so I could have two separate experiences of anticipation and enjoying each doll's individual arrival but I just received a second email from Volks USA saying my FCS order has arrived and will be shipping soon. Believe me, I'm happy to see both of my new girls, I just would have liked to see them spaced out.

 

I got that email too, and can't wait! I ordered toward the end of the preorder period, so mine will be one of the last ones, but it's nice to hear she will be on her way soon! She will be my first Volks Super Dollfie girl (I do have a Dollfie Dream, though).

Oh, and VolksUSA announced on Facebook there will be an FCS in August for Midi and SD boys and girls. No hints on sculpts, though.

2nd edit: They do say there will be new heads, though!

Yay! I got my notice too. First bjd at all, so I'm really looking forward to her arriving.

 

I'm torn between wanting to order clothes for my incoming F-59 girl now and wanting to wait until she gets here and starts ordering me around!

Also kind of wishing I could find a Jo body because so many nice clothes these days are just SDGr size and won't fit a bigger waisted SD13... :cry:

Hmm.. recently I saw some one selling a FCS doll on yahoo! auction.
The doll he/she is selling is actually a Suigintou, but it says its a Dream FCS 2012, just wondering how were the ex-owner able to obtain this, is it an reward for long time volks member to send in old dolls for a FCS or is it a special selection from a long time ago much like Pearl from volks USA in June?

 

I got an email that my FCS order was reissued and due to be refunded which is weird. Derp.

Actually it seems that's how they send the shipping number. I had my order reissued a couple of times, and this reissue did nothing to change it (even had the same number), but added the tracking number to the order. It's right under the method of shipping.

Weird way of phrasing it, rather than just saying "Your order has shipped"

 

That is really weird yeah. And when I ordered Samuel last year his shipping notice came more normally so it threw me off lol, but yeah looking around through it I did find the tracking #. XD

 

Sorry to double post, but she's here! I put her temporarily in a SD13 boy shirt and a temp wig that will not be her final color.



The eyes will stay though, I think. They look lovely in her! They're a pair of 18mm Enchanted Doll Milky #74.

She has the new SD-H-15. They're designed I think to go with the new muscular boy arms as they strongly resemble the SDGr boy H-10 hands, but they look great on a girl as well.

The SD-L-02 legs are as derpy to deal with as I remember from the F-19 I used to have years ago, but the double jointed arms are great!

Now to go shopping. ^o^

 

My FCS arrived today! Thank goodness I was there since it required a signature. She's so pretty, I love her. I need to set up an account before I post pics. Given photobucket's idiocy, what would people here recommend for sharing pics?

 

question to everyone: I bought my SD Kei boy straight from a korean volks store. He is perfect in every way, however, in between his hands are silicone looking circles between the arm and hand joints. Is this normal? Do all volks dolls have these protective covers or was it just for packaging purposes? Also his leg joint that connects to his hips tends to swivel around backwards or pop out of joint as I pose him. I have heard volks dolls tend to do this, but is there a way I can fix it?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew the eye size(s) that would work for a F-69?

I'm planning my first SD, who will also be my first resin (!) after only having DDs so far, and have just placed a bid on a SD10 body so I am quite excited.

 

I don't have an F-69 but I do have the FCS handbook and it shows a photo of the head wearing 20mm Zoukemuria eyes (they are a flatter, glass eye). I guess it also depends if you want the head to have a bigger eye or more mature look and go with something smaller. Hope that helps!

Speaking of Zouks being flatter, the ones that came with my FCS order are like, really really super flat. O_o I don't remember the ones I had years ago being this flat(Or even Samuel's). The whites are more like 20mm whites though the iris is right. (Sadly the pupils are noticeably different sizes. Kind of disappointed but I had other eyes to use so I'll live.)

@Lyrajean Yeah it's not a bad look, but she's giving me the death glare. XD

 

Yeah, I was kind of surprised by that as well. I mean it's my first doll, but I went on youtube to see how to position eyes, etc., and was kind of shocked at the flatness of the eyes. Most of the techniques mentioned in the videos didn't work on that flat of an eye, lol. Ah well, I was thinking of getting some Mako eyes anyway.

 

Anyone else receive any Volks emails concerning Beth and Jo shipping? I just got a notice that my order has been marked as "completed"!

So excited! My Beth will be home next week! Can't wait to see all the new beauties.
