Does anyone have any comparisons for Volks sunlight? I don't seem to be having any luck with that.

Does anyone know if Volks White is a close match for Soom White?

 

I don't think Volks NS would match Iple's NS. Iple's is 'pinkish' and very pale compared to the yellowish, dense tone Volks has ;_;

VampireAngel13 - that pic of the Granado64 body under the Heath head looks pretty good! Is his head sitting on the very top of the neck, or does it settle onto the neck (don't know if I'm being clear--!)?

I'm looking for a slightly taller body for an older F31 that's yellowed a bit. His head is a bit larger than it needs to be on the older SD13 body I found for him. They match, but still I'd love a taller, lankier body for him. Doesn't need to be 70cm though!

I have 2 B-line bodies from different batches.
The first batch from B-line Yuri (Dec 2011/Jan 2012) is paler and pinker than Volks NS.
The 2nd batch from B-line Kyul (mid 2012) is close match to Volks NS, about 80-90% match.

 

So, sunlight resin match anyone? I really want a SDGrB body to replace the SD13 one I have, but with the exchange rate, I really don't think that's an option for me.

 

I have a Volks sunlight doll (2011) and she doesn't match ANY on the tan dolls I have in the house.
Confirmed BAD matches:
Iplehouse realskin (too dark)
Iplehouse light brown (waaaaaay too dark)
Elfdoll homme (too pale)
Resinsoul light tan (too pale/gray)
Angel Region tan (closer than the others but too orange)
Island Doll tan (way too dark and translucent)

I have a souldoll sandy brown doll on the way so when he gets here I can confirm (but I think the match is going to be off. Souldoll looks a bit too pale without blushing).

I was actively looking for an alternate body option for my MSD girl (see avatar) but I wound up tweaking her character when I realized the only good match for any tan skin doll is the resin made by the same company or a LOT of blushing.

 

Does anyone know what bodies will fit/match an SD 2011 pureskin/NS Kanata? I'm looking for a body between 62-65cm.

 

Kanata is an extremely small head. Hmm, you're prob going to have a hard time finding a body it will fit neck/proportion wise because it really doesn't fit on the 60cm SD13 boy body well at all. Maybe an older Delf body cause they were more delicate, but then the resin isn't going to match.

 

Hnnnnggg that's not good news... I wonder why his head is so small. Is there something weird about the neck hole? Aren't Volks SD heads usually huge?


@Kataxenna- On your doll website you have an SD10 Nono head on a Luts girl body. How's the fit and resin match?

 

Volks heads run the spectrum of sizes, and while their popular SD sculpts often have really huge heads, a lot of them don't. Kanata is one of the smallest SD sized Volks heads there is. The neck hole will be the same as any other Volks SD head, but proportion wise, it's probably going to look a bit odd on a larger body unless that body is more slender and delicately built, though I guess ymmv. It's definitely a sculpt they intended to be an SD sized boy/girl, not larger.

 

Hmmm okay. I would've gotten him as a full doll, but the price jump to $700 from $600-something was not what I had planned on.
I'm in the process of buying his head off the MP, and I want to find a slim body for him that's about 60-ish cm tall. He's going to be paired with a 70cm Dollshe Husky, so I really didn't want the 58cm height of the normal SD boy body for him. The 60cm range would be best...

 

So last ditch effort at resin matching...

Anyone have a tan Ariadoll body to compare with Volks Sunlight? I didn't realize that they actually did release and since they vaguely matched with Volks for pureskin, I'm hoping they vaguely match for sunlight so I can get that extra height for my F31 that I've been wanting.

Anybody have pics of small SD heads (like Kanata) on a taller body than the 55cm they come with?

I honestly think he'll look okay on a 60-something cm body. His head is about the same size as Ashe's. I just need a body with a shorter and thinner neck.

Does anyone have any comparisons for Volks sunlight and Granado sunshine skintones? And what about Luts light brown?

 

I'd just like to mention that AoD NS-Y does not match Volks NS as well as it says on the first page. I went off the notion that it did, and I bought an AoD body for my Volks head. I was disappointed that it wasn't a near-perfect match like I thought, given the info from this thread. Maybe both companies have changed their color formula since that was posted in 2008. The head is from 2011 (UV-NS) and the body is from 2012 (NS-Y), so there's not a big gap between manufacture dates. The body's resin color is definitely more yellow than the head when you compare parts that aren't exposed to sunlight (top of the neck and inside the headcap).
I'm not getting rid of the body because it's not a big deal to me, but just be warned if you do plan to make a Volks/AoD hybrid.

 

Any ideas if Doll-Leaves' resin color would match Volks normal? I have a floating head whose resin was matched to Volks normal and I'd like to buy a Doll-Leaves body for him.
Aside from that, what about Spiritdoll? ^^

 

Looking for a non-volks head for my SD17 pureskin body (made in 2013), what companies will match?

 

Is that pureskin or UV protect pureskin? etc.? I plan on getting a SD17 boy body for a crobi head hybrid in the future so I need to know which resin type matches crobi normal.

 

does anyone have pictures of a normal skin La Legende de Temps (LLT) Edria head on the Volks SD17 body? I would like to see how the resins match and the proportions. It does not have to be the Edria head, it can be another from that company this is the same size.

i was wondering if Volks NS will match Little monica , I have been on layaway for Volks Hasekura head and trying to find him a body ... I love little monica body shape ... but not sure about resin match .

I don't think Volks is going to be close enough to Luts to match. Volks is on the yellow side of NS, whereas Luts was more pink.

Volks Sunlight and Dollstown Copper Oriental are a decent match in person, the copper oriental is a bit paler and slightly less red toned, but it is really very close:

Are there any current resin colors that match old NS Volks? I have a head from 2009 in need of a new body and I'm having the darnedest time understanding all the resin options out there. Any help is so appreciated!

 

@lunch break pluto It will depend how yellowed your head is. In my personal experience, how yellow Volks resin gets is also affected by how it's stored and handled: I have 2019 Volks resin that matches 2011 resin. Older Pureskin resin is more likely to become buttery yellow colour than current Pureskin resin.


For reference, L-R: 2024 F-55 Adaption Model PS Fair/Normal (somewhere between 2013-2023 that has had the outer layer of resin peeled by Volks to remove yellowing); 2014 Dai/Mako PS Fair/Normal; 2023 F-60 PS Tan/Sunlight; 2025 SDM-F-05 PS Fair/Normal.
The girl on the right is as yellow as Volks PS Normal/Fair resin gets in my experience.

You'll definitely be wanting a yellow-toned resin body. A perfect match from a brand new body will be unlikely as not many dollmakers do very yellow resin unless they're willing to do custom colours, which is becoming less common.
If you had access to a piece of recent PS Fair, it would be easier to compare how yellowed your head is.

Dollmakers I've seen that have close matches to current PS Fair are Loongsoul's Normal Yellow and Maskcat Normal.
Switch Powder Beige/Normal used to be a close match but is now pinker. Some dollmakers also do a yellow-toned "V Normal" or "Soom Normal" that might match, but it isn't universal across brands.

Ultimately, it will also depend on your individual tolerance for colour mismatch: some people can deal with an obvious mismatch if they like the proportions of the head/body combo, some people can deal with a relatively similar colour, others prefer if a head and body are nearly identical in colour.
The colour of a head can also be adjusted with a faceup, through more subtle methods like blushing with pastels, or more intense methods like airbrushing paint over the entire head – if you have a look through the Customisation and Maintenance section of DoA's Workshop or faceup artists' social media, there are plenty of examples.
