Volks NYC Dolpa, June 19-20th, 2010.

Nov 15, 2009

    1. I was told the US preorder are for those who bought any of the Dolpa NY Yos directly from Volks (ie at the event or from the web lottery). They will be checking orders against their list. The preoder is only for the original purchaser of the doll(s) not open to second hand buyers. On the upside Volks did not say there was a hand limit ;)

    2. I just got my Alice today too! I haven't even had the time to open ehr yet!

    3. hmmmm
I just wonder for people who won the limited FDQ dolls. Has FDQ started the payment process? I started to panic right now...x_x since I haven't heard anything from them since I won one of the dolls.

    4. same here... but the site said Aug and Pat was out for a while so I was going to wait until the last week of Aug before sending her a message

    5. @Anavel : ooh I'm glad I'm not alone here x_x Thank you very much! I just sent an email to Pat last night and hopefully we will receive something soon.

    6. Pat sent an e-mail this afternoon. Soon, it will be Williams arriving here!!!

says that the dolls are arriving Tuesday or Wendesday in NY and after being processed will be shipped priority with tracking!!! (so glad not ups).

      Barb

    7. I got an Alice and I love her. But sigh, she's white skin and all my other Yo's are normal skin. Is it impossible for me to order the option hands in normal skin?

    8. Does anyone have a contact number to reach Pat? FDQ site doesn't have a phone number listed. I won one of the LE dolls but I didn't get any email. I'm really worried now. I emailed her last night but still haven't gotten any reply :(

    9. Did you get it first hand? If yes then the doll came with the order form for the special ordering period. If you got it second hand then the original purchaser has to order the hands.

did you try calling the 212-961-0662 number for FDQ?

    10. Pmed you with any info I have.
      .

    11. Many many thanks to both AreeElf and Angelguardian! I was able to contact Pat, and everything is ok now. My email address was incorrect in their list.

    12. As many of you know, I'm an employee of FDQ. The Williams and Cristals are due to arrive in NY today and Pat will begin processing the confirmed orders for these awesome dolls!

Pat wanted me to let you there have been a few cancellations of the Cristal dolls so there are a limited number of them available for those of you who missed the chance to get one before. You can contact Pat at:

      [email protected]

Please do NOT ask for a Williams. He is sold out completely. Only those Williams orders already confirmed can be filled.

Congratulations to everyone who won one of these amazing dolls.

    13. People canceled? I thought you are not suppose to. I can't believe some people taking away the chance of someone winning by entering and winning, then cancel later. That's not nice.

    14. Sometimes it can't be helped, I really doubt anyone entered with the intention of turning down a doll they'd won. I'm sure a few of those people are upset they had to cancel. I've had to cancel orders before because an emergency came up and I didn't have the money to pay for the doll any longer. Although it is someone's lucky day, to those who will get the Cristals that were canceled, I'm sure they are quite thankful.

    15. From my understanding, weren't there more than a few Cristals left for purchase afterwards? Williams was the sought-after doll for this event, whereas Cristal was less popular. I'm happy with knowing that other people can now have a chance for this girl for retail price. The thought of a SD16 Cristal has always invaded my mind, but I'm not fond of her outfit nor her faceup this time around.

    16. I did get her first hand, but my little order sheet is only for the white skin hands. :( Saaaad.

    17. There were a few left at the end of the drawing period but they were all claimed soon thereafter; Cristal WAS sold out until these few people cancelled their orders. I can't wait to see what people do with this girl in different wig, eyes, and clothing; I think she could be something really spectacular.

      I've not been a very good girl financially of late, however, so no Cristal for me. >_>;;

    18. I understand that. But I'm talking specifically about people who enter just to enter for the heck of it. And when they win they don't even want it. Example: I won Eden but I don't really want him blah blah (it happens a lot especially in lottery) They don't want to pay for it in the end and cancels. I have seen them (not going to mention any names)

They can enter and cancel however many times they want with each drawing but that is not the same as canceling due to an emergency occurrence so to me personally that's not right.

    19. I, too, am having a major problem with my LE order. I tried to call but no one answers, I hope they will answer my e-mail soon.

      This is very stressful

    20. Watch your inboxes!

Got USPS tracking number from FDQ for my LE doll Mad Hatter Williams! Hoping he will be delivered on Monday! :D

    21. Hes here.....!!!!

      Alex

    22. Congratulations Alex! mine arrived too. I pretended to be doing yard work in the rain so that when the usps truck came by, there would be no chance of not hearing the light knock at the door. Well worth being rained on! -Barb

    23. I got my Crystal, too. She's Beautiful!

    24. My tracking number for Williams hasn't updated yet - it still shows him as "U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on August 20, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date." I'm not sure if that means he has yet to be picked up by USPS, or if it just means they're not updating his number for some reason, but he's definitely not here yet. Ah, well. I can be patient.

      Mostly.

    25. My tracking number did not update ( read the same as your's) until he arrived in my town ( sorting and out for delivery). It appears that the post office where he was shipped from did not scan them into the system, but my post office did scan as arrived, sorted and out for delivery.

    26. Kiyakotari, Mine didn't update till it arrived at the local PO. He arrived yesterday. You're a distance from NY so should be just a few days longer. But these gorgeous dolls are well worth the wait.
      Marianna

    27. As of 8/20 I had two incoming....Cristal for a friend and Williams for me. Got two tracking numbers and didn't know which doll was which until one arrived.

Cristal arrived Monday. Her tracking looks something like this:

      My Williams still has....

I thought he would have arrived yesterday or definitely today. Still nothing.

Yesterday I had called Pat at FDQ and she said some dolls had been mailed on Saturday in addition to Friday....so that adds another variable. I hope my Mad Hatter hasn't gone on a wild ride to who knows where....(nervous laugh).

    28. Glad that everyone is getting their dolls

      Geri

    29. Well that's good news and a relief, at least. I was worried that he was languishing forgotten in the back of an office somewhere because a USPS pickup person had overlooked him.

    30. Poo....no Williams in the mail today. :(

So he better be home Wednesday!

    31. Cristal is home! She's rocking a black cheongsam and dark blue Droprops. She's made herself at home, and is Queen of this castle until my Ashanti's head comes back from faceupping. Then it will be battle of the hourglass figures.

    32. Oooo....tracking shows Williams is at my PO this morning....just have to wait for the mailman to bring him home! :)

    33. Excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall over the fact that Williams still isn't in my area yet. Seriously, USPS Priority is supposed to take 2-3 days maximum within the continental US. Even if he was mailed Saturday, not Friday (and the tracking number did indicate his mailing date was Friday), I'm at 5 days now. ARGH!

Ah, ignore my whining, please. I'm happy to wait ages for dolls before they ship, but once they're actually in the mail, I get stupidly impatient, partially because I'm worried they'll go missing. (I had a $450 Souldoll body disappear once.)

    34. Congrats to everyone whose dolls are arriving or are in the mail! We were so lucky to have such an amazing assortment of dolls to choose from. All of the dolls are so gorgeous at this Dolpa!

    35. My Hatter Williams arrived home safe and sound this morning. :)

I too was worrying he would be lost. So maybe my guy was "put in the mail" on Saturday but didn't really go anywhere. Or....worse case....mailed/started moving on Monday so I ended up with a Wednesday delivery.

The 8/20 date is really only when the label was made....and the actual mailing date is unknown to us unless the packages got scanned in NY....which they didn't. Both of my packages had 8/20 for the labels....one arrived Monday....the other arrived Wednesday. I'm guessing FDQ made all the labels as orders were confirmed/charged....then packed up and mailed them over a few days.

So Kiyakotari....I would go with Monday as latest time your doll started moving and do 2-3 days time line. Hope yours is safely home Thursday!

    36. the eye putty tutorial is very useful. i heard some people are using blowdryer to remove them...

    37. Do you mean hot glue for the eyes? I use hairdryer to remove hot glue. Just make them soften with heat and then scrape them clean.

    38. It's wonderful hearing about everyone's arrival of the limited dolls! I want to thank FDQ, Pat Henry, the FDQ staff and volunteers. The Volks company and the Shigeta family are gracious and generous and certainly add an excitement to the whole doll collecting, and ABJD enthusiasm. I am sure that not everyone is happy about things that can happen at the Dolpas but the fact that it happened is a great thing! I, for one, am grateful for the opportunity of having a Dolpa in NY, and also grateful that Pat and FDQ work hard to make it as fun and organized as possible. I look forward to hearing about the LA Dolpa's in the future and visiting the LA store at some point. I hope that Volks will continue to bring their dolls, talent and enthusiasm to New York and allow those of us who can't afford to go to LA to be part of the fun!

    39. Since this event has has passed, HOW WAS IT?!!!! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A DOLPA!!! I GOT TO SEE THIS WONDERFUL LADY POST A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE ABOUT GOING TO DOLPA IN JAPN AND WANTED TO KNOW HOW EVERYONES EXPERIENCE WAS IN NYC? X3 OH, IS ANYONE PLANNING ON GOING TO JAPAN'S DOLPA WHEN IT HAPPEN AGAIN? =D

    40. Lady L, please do not post in all capital letters. It gives the impression that you are screaming at the top of your lungs, and is awkward to read.

As for your question, if you read through the last few pages of this thread, people have already talked about how their Dolpa experience was. And there are separate discussion threads for other Dolpas.

    41. Eee, I still regret not being able to go... :( Congratulations to everyone who is receiving their dolls! :)

    43. Has the doll arrived yet? I know you got a Williams, BEAUTIFUL Boy btw, and hope he has made it home by now!

    44. I don't think Pat reads DoA very often - she's got an astonishing schedule - but I'll pass your message along! The generosity of VOLKS and the Shigetas is truly beyond anything I've ever experienced. That, along with their incomparable energy and creativity, has created something that's unique and completely wonderful. This uniqueness, this ability to create joy and bring it halfway 'round the world to share, is a big part of why ten of the FDQ folks are following them home - crossing the Pacific to experience VOLKS in Kyoto.

      ~Bruce

    45. Yes, Rynn007, my boy did make it here. He wasn't lost in the mail after all, just very delayed. ^_^

    46. I was wondering too....glad he finally made it. :) Isn't he wonderful?!

    47. Can someone please post pics of Williams????? I am dying to see him!!!!!

    48. Yes please! And I would like to see more Cristal too!

    49. I wouldn't mind seeing him myself, since he's not coming here to play after all . . .

      ~Bruce

    50. As requested! :)

Here are two pictures of my FDQ Hatter Williams.

A friend and myself had our box openings at a Kings where we met up (her from OH and me from PA)

    51. Oh! Thank you so much for posting your pictures. He is so gorgeous!!!!! :aheartbea

    52. Thanks for posting the pictures, he does look quite elegant in his Mad Hatter costume! Congratulations!

    53. I hate how I had to miss out on him...

    54. Very, very nice, Angelguardian!

There's something about Williams' narrowed eyes that I like a lot - a handsome and calculating gent!

      ~Bruce

    55. Not to drag this up from the ether, but... Does anyone know when the optional hands for the Yos are supposed the ship?

    56. I seem to recall hearing from Volks USA that it was to happen towards the end of October. I must admit that I may have gone a little overboard, having ordered one of almost every pair! :) But they're so darned cute, besides who knows when we'd get another chance to grab all those little hands in Beauty White?! :love

    57. lol, I ordered quite a few pairs, too. So you're not alone!

    58. Ugh! I soooo wish I could go! Sounds like it's be so so so much fun! Wish I wasn't stuck at a dead end jobs >_>
Any ideas on becaoming rich fast?? jkjk I hope everyone that gets to go has awsome fun though! I will be looking forward to pics :3

    59. You don't need to be rich. The admission to Dolpa is quite reasonable, like $40. You don't have to buy anything or take a class, you can just go to enjoy it.
However if you want to take a class or buy something, why not start saving now.
