Volks NYC Dolpa, June 19-20th, 2010.

Of course the peace of mind would always be worth it and I would've bought Little Lorina regardless at the Dolpa. I was just a bit shocked when I saw the prices, although that might just be because I'm so broke now xD.

Thanks for the clarification on that! I was wondering why we hadn't paid anything over the listed price at Dolpa, but the tax being included certainly explains that.

 

The LE items were all for sale at NY. The items are picked up in NY, thus by legal requirement, the sales tax of the location where the goods are being delivered must be charged. Thus all items, dolls, the LE outfits, the Japanese vendors outfits, the small items which Volks were selling all had NY sales tax added.

For those who will be participating in the on line web thing, if the winners of the LE dolls are living in CA, the final price they paid will have current listed web price, plus the 9.25% CAL tax plus shipping (if applicable). So it is the same reasoning

I pay 9.25% sales tax on everything I get from Volks USA

 

If you filled out a pre-order slip and turned it in at Dolpa, I would imagine that Volks considers that your pre-order so if you also order from their website, you'll end up with two copies. To be certain of your order's status, why not email them?

 

Volks USA has a tax amount of 9.75% posted on their website. I am also in CA but Northern and that is what our tax rate is here
They must have raised it. I will double check my Chika and see if I got charged the 9.25 or the 9.75 listed on the site.
I had looked it up to see what Little Alice would cost me if I won her in the lottery. I know if NY they have a lower tax rate.

I know Jenny. It added $40 extra $$$ to my Chika's price. The worst part is I will still pay it because I love Volks dolls too much ;0

 

The sales tax can't phase me--I live in Chicago. XD Ours is 10.25%!!! It's highway robbery!

 

They need to hold this in Indiana, tax is only 7% (think of all the money we could save!)

 

South Carolina only has a 6% sales tax, but in my county if you buy already made food, like in a diner, or even a cooked chicken in the grocery store, the sales tax is 8%. Unprepared food is 0%, but like for shoes, it's only 6%.

 

It's 8.875% in NY. Expensive than most states. Can't blame them since NYC is a consumer city and a tourist site. I hope the money is being put to good use.

 

Likely is. I believe that money goes for roads and other public projects. I could be wrong though.

 

Our tax dollars get spent on things like a $10M suicide-barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge, which just forces people to go to the Oakland bridge to kill themselves instead. Personally would rather my exorbitant sales-tax be paying for something useful like a bullet-train to LA or more frequent buses. Just my last dose of tax to VolksUSA alone, for buying two doll-sofas, I think that could've dented California's budget problems....

 

1) Do School Heads only come in NS or are they also available in BW?

2) I seem to remember the option to buy an SD13 body, too, if you bought a School Head (which also necessitates that you were enrolled for the faceup class). Did I make this up? How much were the bodies? I seem to remember the heads were ~$120 or so.

 

I dunno if the School heads come in BW, but I do know the answer to the second. Yes you could buy a body for the school head, however is it much cheaper to get one second hand as the bodies were like over $700 as I remember.

 

YOWCH! Ok, yeah, secondhand it is! I know I've seen them available for cheaper than that!

Hopefully someone knows about the BW/NS color options.

 

The only school head that comes in BW is School A (both open eye and sweet dream version), if I'm not mistaken. They weren't offered this time.

 

It makes me an evil person, but bless good old Delaware and our complete lack of any kind of sales tax. I grumbled the entire weekend I was in NYC.

I can't remember if anyone got the BW School A head; it seemed like all the ones I saw were NS.

 

Starzzz: According to the limited items list on the Volks website for the Dolpa, neither school item was offered in BW--only in NS. If you bought the head you could also get the SD girl body ($502.43) or the SD13 boy body ([FONT=Helvetica, Arial, Times]$705.79)[/FONT].

 

For this year's NY Dolpa only the normal skin was available. I think (but don't quote me) the event that happened in L.A. last fall was the first an only time so far where the white skin School A's were available in the states. I could be wrong, though (anyone who knows, feel free to correct me).

I guess I shouldn't complain though, mine is close to 15%.

I'm just glad that Volks put the tax included in the price. It was a lot less painful seeing it like that when I bought my Lorina and at least I knew exactly what was going to hit my bank account and how badly.

 

Yeah. And the heads were $177.05, not ~$120. And that's not including the manditory $40 class fee that enables you to buy the paint kits and heads. So yeah, $217.05 just to be able to purchase the head, entrance to Dollpa, travel, and hotel expenses aside.

It makes the ones selling on the marketplace for $250 not seem like such a mark-up.

 

Word. I was considering selling my school head, but with such a tiny markup, I'd rather just keep the head already.

Now I just need to decide on a body...

 

You are correct. The white skin School A heads were available at the SD workshop last fall.

 

The preorder slip was good until June 30th. You also had to give the bottom of the slip back to Volks or they won't take the order. They check orders agaisn't returned slip bottoms.

I ordered using the preorder Monday after Dolpa and received the book last Thursday along with a lovely signed photo from Mr.Shigeta as a preorder present

 

*** Hmmmm, I live in S. Cal but I do not even get our tax rate straight LOL LOL however, all of the sales tax we paid includes both state and city sales tax, so in S. Cal, so cities are higher than other..... I double checked I was wrong, the tax rate is supposed to be 9.75% so that is the rate at which I have been contributing to the Cal deficient of $48 billion LOL LOL daily

Jenny Totally agree, they should really put some of that money from me towards the high speed train to SF area and LV area. Just these two area will
1. Reduced crazy traffic and waste of time at the Airport
2. make enough money from the travelers to recover the expense building the trains
3. reduce traffic accidents on the highways


Instead, they kept on fixing the 20 miles of freeway between my work and my home - they would dig it up, fixed it, put up the concrete middle divider - then break middle divider down within 4 months to redo it in a different height. It is really like WTF, can you just do it right the first time?? Now it is the third time they are re--doing it since last year.

SCHOOL heads have been sold in NS and BW (BW were only available since 2009). HOWEVER, Volks does not sell all the heads in all of the resin options at each Workshop. They offer different heads at each time.

Last Nov 2009 workshop, BW of School A and SWD School A was available

 

Sorry about that yes the date was June 30th. If you were in the line early you got to get and pay for the book if you got a preorder slip which sounds like the slip you had and I had you were supposed to order within the ordering period using the link on the half of the preorder slip you got to keep. Volks then checks if your name matches one of the slips they received at Dolpa and then processes your order.

Volksusa now has the date for regular Another Yourself 2009 order as being available starting July 17th.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I have a question about the Volks USA "Down the Rabbit Hole" after event which finished on July 25th. Have winners been notified yet? I entered for the Opera Cat outfit but would like to use those funds elsewhere now. However, I'm afraid that if I do I'll be notified that I won >.<

 

Winners will be notified around July 30th according to the instructions Volks USA listed on the item application pages. From the sounds or lack there of I don't think anyone has gotten any early emails either.

 

They're pretty good about notifying all lottery entrants on the exact date, so I'm sure we'll all find out Friday. And believe me, the moment I know whether I won the Turn the Key set I'll post here XD. I've been dying for those white hands ever since the Japanese Owners' event!

 

Yeah I was getting concerned too, but now that I know notification doesn't begin until the 30th, I'm feeling like the "Don't Be Late Set" might be mine afterall!

Oh and for anyone that's put in for the Opera Pink Cat outfit, as cute as it looks in photos, it's even more scrumptious in person! I'm thinking it'll look especially adorable on the upcoming Charlotte and Lieselotte, or any of the "H-girls"...Rose, Bianka, Kurumi, Miruku, or Luna.

Has anyone in the past ever seen the STATUS of their order on Yahoo change to Confirmed/Before Shipping BEFORE they got the email? We know from past ones, if you don't get the "You win!" email your order shows Canceled on the site. I wonder which is done first or if it's done somehow simultaneously?

My Order still shows Confirmed, Status is blank.

 

I think they do the cancellations first since most people find out about the cancellation before finding out about the win. Usually not can canceled gives people hope and the email comes in as the verification. most times I get the win email before any status gets updated
