I am hoping for BW School A or School D head

 

Yeah I know you can purchase them ahead of time. I'd like to see them available to purchase at the event so that I can have a few more months to save up. hahaha

I agree, I wish Volks wouldn't make us buy the bodies/heads way ahead of time. I want more time to save up too!

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for Miichan and Taachan kits. It will never happen, but I can hope! ;0; And seeing School D face-upped, I think even more that it looks like a mix of Heath and Madoka.

Okay, so why did it take me so long to drop in to this thread???

Dolpa NYC has become a pretty major part of my life over the last three years - and I'm almost giddy with the knowledge that it's returning for a fourth! I'll have to work at getting the weekend (_ALL_of it!) off, and perhaps even building a bit of fundage before the big event.

Most of all, though - I'm excited about meeting new friends and seeing the ones I've met in previous years again, whether they've come from New York, the Midwest, the West Coast - - or halfway 'round the world!!

Did they ever release photos of school D blank? I know I saw pics of her in girl form on an SD16, but I can't recall any others.

 

I am with you on this one. Either a BW School A or School D would make me very very happy. I also want an SD17 boy so badly.

Can anyone tell me what the prices are like for an FCS MSD? Are the prices the same as they are at the Sumika locations or do prices vary according to how the currency is doing at the time of order? I'm really thinking about ordering one if they offer FCS at this dolpa, but just want to get a rough idea about what the total cost would be...

 

This site lists the LA FCS prices so I'm guessing the NYC prices would be the same.

I'd like to see the School D head for the Workshop, but what I really, really want is for the Limited to be an SD17 girl! You know, taller, lankier (a bit flatter chested maybe but still grown-up :-)) than the Sd16 girls that I love to the point of having too many. Do I think it's likely to happen? Nah.

If I remember correctly prices were the same as LA Sumika. If you are getting it delivered to NY you get charged sales tax though.

 

RE: Because you have a very busy life, my dear. *laughs* Sometimes it's a wonder that I can keep up with a lot of festivities going on in here with my full time schedule. The only times I can check up on the boards during the weekdays is an hour before work, my lunch break, and sometimes when I get home. Of course, there are times when I'm too tired to log on once I'm home. *shrugs*

RE: Personally, no disrespect to those who attend AX, but I kind of hope it lands on the 4th of July weekend. That way, I can use my holiday times for the trip, rather than my vacation time. I'm still saving that time for a huge vacation. *weak laughs* Of course, if it lands on a different weekend, well, then I guess I'm gonna have to use my vacation time. Oh, well... if I'm gonna use my vacation time, what better way to use it than going to New York?

Don't know if this was talked about yet, but what kind of experiences has it been for those people who just go by themselves, especially for the first time. I am thinking of going this year, but will be by myself, not knowing anyone and well, not too great at social interactions. Sitting at a table, not knowing if you should have sat at THAT table. Pathetic I know.

 

RE: Okay, I can't speak for the New York Dolpa, but I can speak in terms of last year's Anime Boston? Last year was my first time going, I didn't know a soul at that con. I basically chose that convention because it landed on Easter Weekend, and I've always wanted to go to Boston. I didn't feel lonely and I wasn't too concerned because I figured that I would be meeting people who were into the same hobby as me, and that we would have something to talk about, and sure enough, I was right. I basically walked into the doll meet, introduced myself, and then start a conversation with the people there. They were very nice and entertaining, and I walked away from the experience feeling completely satisfied... not to mention that I made a couple of friends in the process.

But yeah, all you do is just walk in, find a group of people at a table, and just introduce yourselves. You don't have anything to worry about, and I'm sure you're gonna be just fine at Dolpa 4.

Everyone is super friendly and we all there are there for the same reason. So there is not a reason you cant talk to some there! Dolls is the perfect conversation piece.

LOL I was at a table full of new friends. We all just hooked up at Dolpa and sat together and it worked out great. Everyone is so friendly.

 

Last year was my first Dolpa and I went alone. I am kind of shy and withdrawn but everyone was SUPER friendly =)

For the event doll... hm. I'm probably sunk if they do a SD13 girl or SD10 Swarrico girl. I'm safe from the SD16s and SD17s and the boys. So maybe for finance's sake, I should HOPE they do a doll I don't want.

 

This. So this. I want my little Yo Kira to have a sleepy eyed sister so much. The SwD Nana Yo's from the Owners Appreciation event are killing me with their cute, but I can't afford Y!J prices right now.


I think I'll safe from most other limiteds unless they do a Tokyo Boys release. I'd be doomed if they were released again.

Kaighn - Keep stalking y!j, I've seen several go between 45 -48,000 yen, which thanks to the upswing in the dollar is not bad at all. I have to admit I am a bit flabbergasted at the prices people are selling them for here when you can get one - fees and shipping included - for much cheaper off of y!j.

The only Tokyo Boy who hasn't been rereleased is Tsukasa, and that would be both amazing and awful at the same time since I am positive I won't be able to buy any dolls this time around. The only thing worse would be Michele. I'd just cry.

 

Yukinojo is a Tokyo Boy that hasn't been released also. But oohhh would it ever rock if they re-released Tsukasa!

LadyNyssa --> I think that most Dolpa people are very friendly, but no one really came up to me to talk, you have to go to them. And that is what is very hard for me. The very first NYC Dolpa I went to I spent my time sitting by myself or with my mother at the table ^^;; Last Dolpa I did go around & get lots of pictures of people's dolls & I talked with a few a bit before asking if I could take their dolls' pictures, but mostly I didn't ^^; I was still better than the year before when I didn't talk to anyone at all

People at the Dolpa are super nice. Last year was my first time and I'm always shy since I'm kind of a baby compared to other people, despite me being in the hobby for some time. I'm all "hay guyz...n~n" And then they are like: "*turn* OMG! Lugimoo?! I love your boys! *fawns over, gets hugged lots by random nice ladies*"

Its all very nice to know someone knows who you are, even if it is by just a screen name. X3

This'll be my first time going to a dollpa... i'm starting to save up now. If they have an SDC this year i'm going to go home sooo broke. But I have a few questions for those of you who've been there before.

Is anyone there going to be offering faceup services? I have a volks doll that needs a new one... I was hoping the volks people would be there doing (or at least fixing) some.

Also, I want to take the faceup class... i'm told I can buy a school head, and that they offer discounts on a body for the head if you want one. Do they offer the sd16/17 boy body... does it even fit on the school head? I'd sooo love a mature SD boy... and if I could paint one myself in the class I think that would be a blast!
