My Shizu arrived and she is gorgeous! I ordered the dark version and she has the most beautiful blue eyes.

Mine is here too. Eeek, she's amazing but I was only able to peek. Hopefully I'll get some pictures tonight or tomorrow. What an amazing faceup. Congrats to all the new mommies and daddies.

Mary and Barb, your girls are beautiful. I love the face up. Each girl I'm seeing really is special and unique.

OMG! So I got home and the UPS guy had left her in the mailroom, bless him!!!! She is amazing! Stunning! Everything I hoped for and more. This doll has single handedly put my entire collection into perspective. I am totally floored. Her character spoke to me stronger than any doll I have ever owned. I got the light version with dark gold hair, deep blue eyes & a pale pink kimono And she's just perfect! The faceup is amazing *goes on yet another squeefest*

 

She is beautiful! and her color combination sounds fantastic! You have to post pictures once she arrives dressed in her kimono.

Mary: Thank you so much! I am totally smitten. She has a perfectly done face up! The best default volks face up I have seen. Her kimono is truly beautiful but unfortunately it will most likely just sit in her box as it does not really fit her character.

I dressed my Shizu so quickly when she arrived and meant to go back and check.
It was homework time in my house when she arrived so I did not have much time to play.

 

Wow, she is gorgeous! Volks really outdid themselves with this edition. I feel so lucky to have one on the way.

 

Wow, everyone's Shizus are so fantastically stunning! I am really sad that I missed out on this release - I hope Volks continues with the to-die-for LEs in the future. Love love love her gorgeous faceup!

 

I got my Shizu! I'm so happy! She is a gorgeous doll and I love the faceup.

The wig and kimono...not so much. I requested the light version so I think that's what I got. It seems that kimonos in general are worn with contrasting accessories, but orange, green, red AND blue are a strange mix to my eye. T_T I was really hoping for a pink one.... Sigh, I might end up selling the kimono/wig set, which is not what I wanted to do.

The wig has a very interesting construction, with a heavy trailing bun on the top. I'm just not a fan of it, sadly. It looks like a beehive or something.

I still greatly applaud Volks, though. The quality of everything is just wonderful, even the under kimono! The obiage sash you tuck around the top is just darling.

Riversoblood: She is stunning! I actually quite like her kimono and her wig. I am sorry to hear you are not quite such a fan but I am sure you will have absolutely no trouble should you decide to sell it. Congrats on such a beautiful and special girl!

Omg!! I love Madoka/Shizu in BTSSB!! Please post a pic of that! Thses girls have such expressive and versitile faces. I am sure she will be stunning.

These kimonos are just really amazing! I looove seeing dolls dressed in kimonos like these--reminds me a lot of human-sized kimono. XD

She's gorgeous, riversoblood. I agree with you about the kimono (not my style, either), but I think the wig is gorgeous. Would you mind taking a picture of the side view of her in the wig?

I think she is a beautiful doll and would look fabulous redressed :-) Maybe you can find a pink kimono for her in the marketplace. You must post her pictures in BTSSB :-)

 

No prob, here's a side view. It is a nice quality wig, but not the kind of style I like. The trailing pony tail is at least cute, though. It's a pity about the kimono. Orange is usually one of my very favorite colors, but I can't dig this shade for some reason.

justkatie, that is a great idea to do a trade/swap for the Shizu wigs and kimonos. I have yet to dress up my Shizu;maybe Sunday night.

 

Finally a picture of my girl. She is wearing Olivia default wig in this photo. Haven't tried her default wig or outfit yet and she hasn't told me her name but here's a quickie photo of my gorgeous girl.

Oh no! I was just tracking my Shizu on the UPS website which was supposed to arrive today, and it says that
"A CORRECT STREET NUMBER IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION", I looked back at my form I sent to FDQ and my address is correct but on the shipping notice email from FDQ its missing the last two words from my street name! Now I have to wait til tomorrow! ahhh! I think I may explode from anticipation!!

 

Well she arrived today and is just beautiful! I am so pleased - the pictures are bad but were taken in a hurry to show her off.

I'm not seeing a whole lot of differences in the faceups... they're all beautiful and unique but I can't tell if any of them were the 'dark' option. Is anyone else able to spot differences? (Mostly just curious as I requested the dark option.)

btw, would you also tell us if you chose light, medium, or dark? It would be interesting to compare what you asked for and what you received.

 

The variation I tend to see has to do with the color of the lips. The dark shizus seem to have a more uniform lip color application while the lighter shizus seem to have a bottom lip that is darker in the center. Could just be me though...

 

Oh yes, for more Shizu's. Congrats to all the new owners. I actually didn't chose a color. I just told Pat to surprise me so I'm not sure what mine is though I think she might be the medium. I kind of thought the differences only seemed to be the wig. Light got the lighter wig, medium got the updo like mine and dark got the long wig. Not sure if I'm right but the faceups all look so similar to me it's hard to tell.

Marianna, did you post pics of your girl? I haven't seen her and does she have a name yet?

Maybe there is no rhyme or reason in the differences in the face up then. They all look so different to me though!

 

Here's mine! She's been waiting for me at my office since last Wednesday...

I put Dark as my first choice, and got the dark updo wig. My understanding was Dark/Medium/Light preference was primarily about hair color. While red would not have been my first choice for kimono, it's still lovely (photo is showing orange-y, but it's red...bad iPhone/flourescent lighting office pic). Mine also has dark grey eyes.




We barely got out of the office...2 attorneys tried to kidnap her LOL interesting to see folks' first reaction to a BJD...
