@nakitaninja aww thanks I got my SECOND new pair of shoes yesterday but haven't taken any good pics yet. There's a craptastic one in my Instagram feed

 

Ha! All I take are craptastic photos!!! I try to get better but sometimes I feel like investing in better equipment, at least with my skills, is like setting a pile of money on fire. I'll look forward to new shoes pictures soon!

 

@revien Looks like Hewitt was the last limited boy in 2010 and Mihmi was the last limited girl in 2009.

I'd love for Volks to release Hewitt again so that I can give my boy a refresh. Love the head sculpt so much, even if the first MSD body he came with is so bad.

This is an awesome question. This is just my observation from watching the events: I've seen them release Byakuren as a girl multiple times in PSN but generally not as a boy (unless someone on YJ! changes the body). Her eye color changes as a coordinate between skin colors PSN and PSW and occasionally with the seasonal events (Christmas Sumika Fair vs Spring Sumika Event). I've seen Byakuren released as a coordinate with brown and blue eyes. Tenshi are never released in sunlight skin- just PSN and PSW. The wigs/outfits change per season and have no particular rhyme or reason other than theme.

I am speculating that even though tenshi are sold on 'genderless' bodies the sculpting and design teams leans towards designating the gender for each doll. This, of course, doesn't mean Volks won't mix it up in the future and swap things around! Their creativity with each sculpt is pretty impressive.

TLDR Version: They usually release what they are advertising. In this situation I might expect some different wigs but the skin tone/gender/eye/faceup combination should be the same.

@Artemos This is actually an interesting question! Based on what I've seen in the after reports, they actually release far more combinations than are advertised, even including other molds. It really is just a selection that they choose to highlight. As @nakitaninja says, though, they definitely have some rules/leanings; you won't see sunlight skin tenshi or actual tenshi bodies (the coordinates are all on regular SDM bodies); they're mostly girl bodies, but there are some boys too. Wigs and eyes change, as do the outfits, even within an event. I am pretty certain that they also release some YoTenshi as coordinates (at Sato/Mado events).

For instance: in the Sato Christmas Fair after report, under the third heading are the coordinate model pictures. There are obviously some YoTenshi, and with a quick look it's clear that the five advertised on their main website are just an example of what was available at the event.

In a way, the coordinate models are like one-offs. They don't have specifically styled faceups or clothes like the one-offs do, but getting two with the same outfit, wig, eyes, etc seems to be very, very unlikely! This definitely isn't what I thought when I first saw them; I assumed that they had a few "models" that they then had 5-6 each of, but that's not the case.

Anyone in here is thinking about participating in the international lottery for the SDM Four Sisters? I hate that they require payment upfront, but damn, I want Nana so much D:

 

I am somewhat tempted to enter for Nana, too, but with my bad luck in lotteries it's probably not worth the effort.

You are super welcome! I adore the Byakuren sculpt- she's charming to no end. There is also a PSW Mamu, also very cute, and I am betting -dollars to doughnuts- that we will see a PWS SDM Una either for Tenshi no Sato events later this year or (and more likely) next spring. I hope you get the angel of your dreams!

Byakuren was the SDM that stole my heart and really got me into the SDM size. If I take a doll to travel, it's usually her.

 

Ahhh I am so excited! Bought myself for my birthday a white skin Byakuren fullset. I've loved the sculpt since it was released so just super happy to bring her home. And this may be the first time ever I don't repaint a Volks doll lol

Woot! I got Kira and Nana from Volks USA! The site was a bit slow and I thought it might crash (as it sometimes does for click-wars), but my order went through! They'll be arriving sometime in June. I was going to get just Kira, but they look so good together as a matched set.

 

@eleniel and @CathyM , congrats to you as well! I missed out on a Four Sisters SD sculpt because I kept putting off buying them until they discontinued, and then I was like, Noooo, why did I wait?! So this is a nice solution. I'm more comfortable with the SDM-size anyway.

Yeah, I thought that as well. I can wait. Besides, that frees up more dolls for the International customers who can't buy through Volks USA. Plus, I hope that by using the USA branch, that will give Volks all the more reason to keep it open!

 

I ordered a Kira, too. I've always wanted a Four Sisters, but I usually don't go bigger than 1/4. I compromised with a DearSD, but I just couldn't pass Kira up in my ideal size. I doubt the AS will stay now, but we'll see. I can't wait!! If you asked me a year ago which impossible doll I wanted it would have been just this Kira. !

 

I just hope I can eventually get a Kira head secondhand for a decent price. Wonder how she'd look on an SDC body...

@Alice80 - she's a midi Byakuren in white skin. I really love all of the midi versions of the bigger tenshi

@MsPatricius - I really love the midi Byakuren sculpt, it's so charming and pretty. Probably one of my all time fave Volks MSD sculpts.

 

Look who I just won on Yahoo Japan! I've always wanted an F-21 and I got her for a great price! I also love the color of the ears and eyes. It's exactly what I would have picked out myself. I'm so glad to find one since she's been discontinued. The mold is a little tricky I think. She can look so different depending on the angle. I'm thinking of sending her to Memento Mori for a sweet pinky faceup. Does anyone have photos of their own F-21 girls or boys?

Looking at the scans from the newest Volks News - and Volks indeed will make Midi Tenshi Una. In white skin, to add insult to injury. But she'll probably be Sato exclusive, and I'm definitely not looking forward to her aftermarket prices.
