@PoeticSoul thanks! it breaks my heart that volks tan skintones are not more readily available! they are, as you say, scrumptious !!

 

Does anybody have the older discontinued MSD f-10 doll? XD Recently I've been looking at discontinued heads, so many of them are so cute that it's too bad it's discontinued.

 

Does anybody have hybrids that has volks head for mini dolls + a different body in normal skin? Would love to see some pictures!

I am back in DOA after going missing in action for more than a year due to a sudden illness in my family.

I am posting here because I bought an MSD body from eBay a few days ago. The body is meant for Yo-Midi Reisner. Not sure if it will fit. Difference between MSD and SD Midi seems to be small and Reisner’s head is big, it gets even bigger when he wears some of the wigs I have here. I prefer the MSD body because most clothes are made for MSDs. I am excited as well as worried. Has anyone put Yo-Midi Reisner’s head on an MSD body?

Yo-Midi Reisner and Yo-SD Isao has been neglected for years in my collection. I only started buying them new clothes and shoes two months ago. Since I never had a MSD in my collection before, MSD Reisner will be like a new doll. If the body fits Reisner, I will proceed to find him clothes and a pair of boots or shoes. Sigh. I feel tired. I am nervous about the new body.

After some struggle, I finally remember how to share a photo from Flickr.....here are the two small boys. I just bought them new clothes, and a new body. Reisner is actually very beautiful, I feel bad neglecting him for so many years. He never had new clothes, he deserves a bigger body.

@stargazer_i, please don’t worry; Yo Reisner’s head should fit fine on an MSD body. I don’t think there’s a lot of difference in the neck sizes. You won’t have the double joints of a Midi, but with some glue sueding and elastic tightening, it’ll be a solid, user-friendly body.

My Midi boys generally can wear most of my MSD boy clothes.

Thanks @beamlette thats reassuring. I would still rather wait for the body to arrive before getting new clothes. I plan on getting him 1 set of outfit from Dollmore to start with. In the past, I always had bad experience buying shoes/boots from eBay that did not fit my SD17 and SD13 dolls when they advertise that the boots fit SD17 or SD13. I resorted to only buying shoes from Volks but when I look at the current options on the Volks web store, I don’t see many options. Should I take the risk and buy off eBay once more? It almost never worked for my big boys. Where do you normally buy shoes for your MSD boys? Can you recommend?

That illness in my family took a toll on me. I am tired. It took me a lot of effort to snap a family photo of my dolls over Christmas. I submitted the photo for Volks USA snap challenge but did not win. Not surprised though because I was really tired. I did not produce a perfect snap. I could have corrected the flaws but did not. It’s alright, my purpose was just to share a family photo. I can’t expect to win.

 

@stargazer_i, that might be best to hold off any more clothes purchases until the body arrives. As for advice on where to buy and what to buy for MSD boys, I've slowed down over the years, and haven't done much shopping on Ebay since 2010, so I can't say who is best to buy from right now. I agree that Volks doesn't have as much for MSD/Midi boys in recent years; they seem to be more concerned with the girl dolls' needs!

Thanks for pointing me to Denver Doll Emporium. Once upon a time, I bought non BJD dolls and accessories from them. I am surprised they now carry primarily resin BJDs. I sold my vinyl contemporary doll collection keeping only resin dolls and my own childhood dolls from the 60s-80s. Looks like I will still be buying from Denver’s Doll Emporium. Times have changed and we change with time. My resin boys are fussy with footwear. The big boys will only wear boots/shoes from Volks and sneakers from eBay seller Mimiwoo. LeekeWorld’s MSD shoes will fit Volks MSD. That’s very useful information. Thanks.

 

What’s everyone’s hybrid body for mini sized volks dolls? I recently got a Msd body to really compare for myself if I like sdm body better than Msd body since Tenka is an older doll. I’m a little scared the tone won’t match perfectly. Also it seems like this thread is usually very quiet, are there other places people use for volks community? I do search up pictures on Instagram and twitter from time to time but don’t really see any other places of discussion.

 

I have never handled an actual MSD or SDM body but I don’t care for their chubby hands in photos. All my girls are on the SDC body, including my F-31, who looks super cute on it. I do have issues with the SDC’s posability though. Especially since owning other companies’ minis now. But it’s just such a cute body that it’s not that big of a deal to me.

 

Hello Volks Midi collectors!

I got into the doll hobby in 2008, I've been collecting resin BJD since 2016 and finally in 2020 I bought myself my first Volks Superdollfie!
She's a Coordinate Model from 2016, SDM F40. I adore that sculpt. The face-up is the default one from 2016, the wig is made by Pengin Workshop on Etsy.

She poses so well, there's something really 'natural' about her!

I've got my YoMidi Reisner on a SDM body and it's really such a nice body. I actually like it more than SDGr boy and SDGou, I think because the smaller size means the weight doesn't cause the joints to do odd things as much. XD;

The hands bother me a lot though lol, the body came with the super chubby H-02 and it looks ridiculous with how mature Reisner's sculpt is. Gonna have to find someone ordering this SDM FCS period and see if I can get them to split an extra pair of the H-11 hands with me. XD;;;

 

I am trying to get my Yo-Midi Reisner on MSD body but looks like the body is stuck in transit somewhere for 1 month because of eBay’s Global Shipping Program. Tomorrow, I start the long process of getting my money back. I am considering adopting MSD Manabu from the second hand market instead of waiting for that body to show up. However, I am not in the mood to collect new dolls. Manabu looks like my SD13 Isao’s younger brother and Yo-SD Isao’s older brother. He fits in my doll family. I have a soft spot for Isaos, if MSD Manabu comes home, I won’t be able to part with him. He will be another Isao. He will end up staying here for a long time. Sigh. I am only looking for an MSD body.....sigh.....why must this happen to me?

Dollyteria has a msd boy body for around 9900 yen right now. Not sure if you want to order from Japan right now tho.

SDM F40 is so super cute! Now I got her I wonder how I could collect dolls for years withot adopting a dollfie before!

I'd like to preorder a FCS SDM or SDC - I actually bought my F40 on secondhand market - but I guess that Volks Usa only allow customers from North America to place an order on their online store.
I live in Europe and I only have access to Volks International Store which actually don't offer any FCS orders

 

Thanks for the info. Something to consider. No appetite for new doll from anywhere. Just trying to put Yo-Midi on MSD body. I don't want to spend too much on this since it's something extra.

Currently the new USA online store fcs for March is open with some good choices! Although I kind of like getting secondhand market dolls with volks because FCS makes it hard to choose.

 

For those of you wondering... Volks USA is offering F-20, F-33, F-40, F-42 (SWD F-20) and F-44 this time around

I recently got an F-14 (Hisui/Kohaku) through the winter special FCS this past December. Hisui was my first ever BJD that I had to sadly part with a few years ago, so I'm very excited to bring her back!
When she's ready I'd love to show her off here.

 

I have been looking through Volks website for MSD boys' clothes and accessories. I have not planned on a new doll but since Manabu is unexpectedly coming home with the MSD body for Midi Reisner, I thought I should get Manabu a Volks outfit as a present. My head tells me to get the new Herbalist outfit with that impressive cloak but my heart says to get the old striped Salopette set (Sailor outfit) because that suits Manabu better. Since my budget is limited after buying Reisner's MSD pirate outfit and accessories, I have to choose. It's so hard. I think I will do what my head says and buy the Herbalist set. This is the problem when we get a new body size, accessories and outfits have to be bought new. I am hoping MSD Manabu can at least share eyes with some of my SD boys. I never had a Volks MSD boy before. I'm excited. I have to name him. He looks like Isao, so may be, his family name is Nanjou, I still need to come up with a first name.

All my boys wear Volks shoes (Except sneakers), I'm not sure if MSD Manabu is also fussy with footwear like the rest of the crew. I only bought a pair of Dollmore sneakers to start. I have to meet Manabu in person before deciding on shoes and boots. I have had almost all bad experiences with footwear on eBay.

Talking about the new outfits, I see the SDGrB/SD16G white rider jacket is snapped up and sold out already! Not surprised. I have the black version and was thinking of getting the white version but nope, it's gone.

 

Manabu takes size 16mm eyes. What Msd pirate outfit did you buy?

 

I bought the Dollmore eBay Marooner shirt white. Volks black baggy pirates pants from DOA market place. Pirate necklace from Dollmore eBay. A new wig reddish long curls from eBay. Pirate waist sash courtesy of SD17 Reisner. Did not buy the eye patch because I love his eyes, can’t cover it up. I might buy or make one later. He has his pirate hat. I am hoping the either the SD17 or Yo-Midi sword holder can be adjusted for the MSD. That sword holder is unique to Volks. No fanciful pirate boots for now, only modern sneakers without socks. From my experience dressing SD17 Reisner, he likes baggy, comfortable, light, simple clothes. He is informal, an easy going guy. Complicated in his simplicity. He hates being suited up in tight fitting clothes.

16mm eyes on Manabu.....wow, those are big eyes! Thanks for the info. If Manabu is anything like Isao, the new wig will be perfect for him. He can also use Reisner’s wig.

 

After several years of wanting one badly, I just ordered my F52 through online FCS. I am super excited!

 

I managed to hold off ordering this round on the online FCS but I'm so seriously tempted -- does anyone know if F-51 has ever been offered for the online fcs?

I finally ordered an f-40 SDM (in Sunlight!) from the online FCS! Super excited because this is my first Volks and my first tan girl!!

 

Hello, I need advice about buying an msd / sdm Hina or Noa. There aren't any 2nd hand listed. It seems the Volks USA site is down. But the Japan site is open. Can I order from there and have it shipped to the US amidst this COVID mess?
Also, when I search for them, are the terms msd and sdm interchangeable? Thank you!

 

@Melly123 from what i understand volks international is shipping overseas via dhl only, and volks usa is expecting to reopen sometime next month.

 

I think volks site do ship internationally.

About the key word : SDM is newer body type of old MSD // All Hina and Noa are SDM

if you are alright with second hand. Buyee provide proxy purchasing sevice from many second hand site in japan like mercari.jp (Which I saw a Noa on sale today just a while ago)

Another second hand site that ship internationally are mandarake and dollyteria, don't forget to check with them.

xxxsaturnxxx has good advice but you may have to wait until the pandemic clears. Dollyteria’s overseas orders are closed as they only ship EMS and AIR which have been cancelled to most countries by Japan Post. Mandarake items can only be shipped DHL express, which can get pricey . Buyee allows both DHL express and seamail, which is inexpensive but very slow. Hope this helps. @Melly123

I bought a Smart Doll outfit set on Sunday. DHL delivered it from Japan to here in the US on Tuesday! Wow!

I could not find a SDM girl here in the US, so I finally just ordered overseas. One from Volks Japan (Noa) and one second hand from Europe (Mako). I sold 3 other dolls to afford these. I'm so excited! I'd love to see your photos of Mako and Noa while I wait for their arrival.

That's lovely to hear. A large part of my collection are Volks and I've pretty much owned all their various sizes (except DearSD) at some point. I love that their resin is so nice and solid.
