Volks Hometown Dolpa Sendai *August 12, 2012*

ADORABLE!!!! Congrats InvisibleWings! Her cheeks are so plump and her lips are pouty in spite of her little smile~~~~~ So cute!!!

 

In fact Megohime was being offered yesterday and today in Volks International After event to anyone who wanted to order her. (Not Lottery) I see now that she has sold out. ...thank god the temptation is over.

 

I got my little Megohime today. I was too tired to do a full box opening, but I did take her out to have a quick look at her. I'm so glad I got her, she's so much prettier in reality.

Btw, have anyone seen any custom face-ups on Megohime? Curious since I'm not that fond of the black marks/spots by her mouth so I need to look for alternatives.

Hero, my cranky-warrior-Yo dude has arrived! He landed on my doorstep Thursday morning, but I waited to open the box until my enabler...uh...husband, got home. He doesn't have a stick, but never the less, can kill with his withering glance! LOL! Here's a quick picture with him and his new partner in crime, my Smike...he is the Master of the Sea, this week anyway. Enjoy!

Got the attempted-delivery slip for my Bontenmaru yesterday--gonna pick him up after work this afternoon.

 

Hehehe.....you're gonna be delighted!! Bontenmaru is the cutest little guy......but, I have to warn you... mine came with a warning label. "Open at your own risk!!" I think it was from customs as it was not written in Japanese.

 

Juli, he's perfect! Congratulations! And look how happy Smike looks to have a compadre! They make an absolutely wonderful pair.... though I sense a lot of merry property-damage. It is unbelievable how haughty they made Bontenmaru look, and it is unbelievable how much like Masamune he looks. The withering gaze and heavy eyeshadow, it is literally a smaller version of this.

PS: BTW, is Smike wearing that Dollheart 'King' set? I'd been wondering how that looks on an Isao. ^^ Very dashing! The two of them look like they're off to a historical-dress party.

Thanks Cynthia! If it were anyone else with Hero, I'd be on alert, but Smike can hold his own. He's the original kid you'll find during recess, hanging out by the jungle gym exchanging pop quiz answers for Fruit Roll-ups. :lol Meanwhile, CONGRATS on getting a Bontenmaru of your own! Would love to see him.

Hi Jenny! Thanks so much! I knew these two would be buds from the moment Volks made him the star of the Sendai Dolpa. But Hero's even better in person than I dreamt he'd be...his face-up is truly exquisite. And after seeing the photo of mature Masamune you linked, it really does look like Volks used a shrink ray to make this Yo. Oh and thanks for your kind words about Smike's outfit, it's DollHeart's "Cortez", minus the hat and jabot.

Hero!! xD Perfect name for Mr. Imperious.
The Volks Shrink-Ray did amazing things to Isao, and it really did wonders on Masamune. My grownup-Graffiti Masamune wears leather corsets and halter-tops... it would totally knock me out to see Hero in that Yo-SD black leather 'Cavity Creep' outfit.

 

OMG Jenny! "Mr. Imperious"?! ROTFLMAO!!! Now there you've coined the perfect last name for him! And I remember the weird little Chibi outfit....I didn't buy it back then because I didn't have any Yo-boys, and I thought it was in fact too creepy...if only I could've anticipated it's future potential! I'm also wishing I'd picked up that little kimono set that Volks had in stock forever...but it didn't suit Harrison, and if I had tried to dress Smike in that, he would've giggle-snorted at me and then done something silly like jump off the sofa. My still nameless SWD Rabbit Boy might've worn it, but he puts up with almost anything in his narcoleptic state. However Hero has needs...he's said so, quite clearly..."I wants my stick, more clothes of my own, and a sword...now!" Uh...I think I'm in trouble...LOL!

Thank you Ksusha! I was really surprised at the delicate shading of Hero's intense little face. It's difficult to really capture in photos, but in person you really see the true artistry in his face-up.

I'll be tweaking my Megohime as her default face-up is doing her any justice

 

I know MingYi painted a megohime recently!

 

I think I saw the one by Mingyi on Flickr, but I'm still looking for other customs of these. On the other hand, it's been such a short time since the release that it will probably take some time before others pop up.

 

I've got an email from VolksUSA about optional hands for SDGrB/SD17, pistol one and a bunch of others. Hmmm...*thinking which to buy*.

 

Does Hasekura come with the pistol hands by default?

Bontenmaru is a little handsome boy after custom!

 

It's not a custom faceup, but I have changed my Bontenmaru's wig and eyes for everyday wear. Yaso has decided that he's sick of wearing his shichi-go-san festival getup, and it's time to go back to nursery school with the other kids. Though he does insist on taking his stick and his minion along.

 

So adorable!

 

Cynthia he's so cute! Does he know his teacher will probably take his stick?

 

*snerk* I'm afraid Yaso has a little too much confidence in his ability to defeat any opponent who tries to disarm him . . .
