Volks Home Town Dolpa Kobe - July 31, 2011

He was clearly not based off the game due to his hair and what he is wearing. However, real Date Masamune was also missing his right eye. It is why all fictional representations of him are missing the right eye. Thus, it's not Date Masamune to me without him missing his right eye.

The original Reisner fullset came with an eye patch and wasn't scarred.

If he's SDGr then he's cheaper than SD17... XD And that body does look like SDGr or SD13. This is not the first time Volks released a man in SD13 body... ^^;; How old is Date supposed to be, in the history? I don't know anything about him, but I'm going to search now. He looks interesting. ;D

 

People do not know he's a real historic figure that the anime and games are based on? ^^;

Well it depends but I think they would depict him in his late teens? from that photo shown before, but then I'm terrible at telling age.

 

I heard about Date Masamune in Gintama *rolls on the floor*

 

i'm just so glad that it's not Basara's Masamune :'D Almost made me want to choke myself to death so I don't have to go through this Q__Q

 

I knew the game/anime character was based off a real person, and after looking at the picture, realized they were doing the more historical representation of Date Masamune. It would have been cool if they did his anime version as I totally want his six katana's, and that outfit. However, the fact that they're doing him at all is still pretty cool.

 

I love Date Masamune either he's a realistic character or game, anime character ^^;
so I won't know I'm safe until a clear front picture of him shows-up Dx

 

Any ideas about which girls will be released?

I figured he wasn't Basara's Date. XD Especially after seeing the hair.

I am a big fan of Masamune Date since I watched the history drama "One-eyed Hero Masamune （独眼竜政宗）" of NHK of 1987.
Ken Watanabe played the part of Masamune Date in this drama, and this drama created a big boom in Japan.
"Sengoku Basara" is a current popular animated cartoon, and the movie is shown this year in Japan, too.
However, the popularity of Masamune Date originally exists from dozens of years ago.
Because his eye is not a thing damaged by the outside, he cannot be a "scar face".

Because I like a character of Date which Ken acted in 1987, I have always loved the name of Masamune, any characters of Masamune... SD Masamune will be released as a part of Utage series, and he is one of the dolls I feel "must have". I wanted to stop buying new doll......

Yes! Since I had heard Volks would do Dolpa in Sendai, I have been quite sure they would release Masamune. (I knew this year would be a year of "Sengoku Basara", too.) I am not familiar with Sengoku Basara, either. But I am very familiar with actual Masamune and cannot wait to see more data of this doll!!

 

I am excited too. I love when dolls are based on historical figures.

 

You already own Amakusa and Okita. This SD Masamune has a very striking face to fans of Williams, doesn't he? So I guess Masamune must have stolen your heart! :3

Ooooh, I'm loving that little teaser picture! I'm personally glad to hear that it's unlikely that Masamune will actually be a scar-faced doll because I *really* like the look of his face, but I'm not a huge fan of one-eyed resin guys.
*crosses fingers* I hope he doesn't turn into another "must have!" I really thought I was through with grail-dolls. *eek!*

 

Now I want to see that movie. *cough-has a "secret" crush on Ken Watanabe-cough* I blame my mother who also has a "secret" crush on Ken Watanabe.

 

Oh you and your mom, too! I have all DVDs of this drama, and I have the official books of it etc.

I don't think they'll offer armour with him because that would probably be too expensive to do, but on the other hand WOULDN'T THAT BE COOL *dies*. Volks quality samurai armour would be to die for . . .

 

looking at Ria_ria's post of Masamune, how can he be release in any size other than SD17 (unless Volks has another new size up their sleeves unrelease haha...><)

Judging from the size of the neck, I'm not sure it's SD17. Too thin. Looks like SD13.

SD17 is also fantastic! I definitely would love either size, I simply want Masamune doll! (I had planned to make Masamune for my own in the past.) And, his face looks quite nice in the pic!

Hmm, everyone on the blogs seems pretty confused, and I still only see the shot of the banner. So the cancellation of the Sendai Dolpa was announced at Huis ten Bosch, and Masamune was supposed to be released for the Sendai Dolpa, right? What doesn't seem clear is whether Masamune is even going to be released for the Kobe Dolpa. Am I reading that correctly?

Hm... that is slightly confusing. You would think that if Volks went to all the trouble of designing and sculpting the doll, though, they would release him at *some* point. If they don't at this upcoming dolpa, that would strike me as odd. Or maybe they will treat it like a special order or something. At any rate, my hopes are still that it will be Masamune that's released for the Kobe dolpa, and that he is on an SDGR body. (and my chequing account is in direct opposition to these hopes... XP)

 

I'm still hoping for awesome sauce in DD form. :3

 

Maybe they will release him as a special order though FDQ, like they did with Ami and Shinku?
I just pray there will be no girls. My funds are really stretched right now. Plus I always look forward to drooling on the gorgeous boys Volks produces.

Shizu was last year. They did a special edition FDQ Madoka with a kimono, etc.

I am not sure Katie. It seems like there are quite a few dolls released at once (at times)but I have never checked whether it is a boy/girl release. I should go check on Angels den.

 

Ohhhh, you guys mean Shizu. I about had a heart attack thinking they did some special Shinku release after I let my subscription lapse this year.

 

I would just die. I have Suiseiseki and I would love to add Shinku but I doubt that would ever happen. I dont think Volks will ever release the Maidens again other than one-offs.

 

I fixed my mistake also! I get the Asian names mixed up some times - I'm better at remembering Madoka. I can never remember which Rozen girl is which, although I know they are all out of my price range. I think every dolpa has had a boy and girl release, but I could be wrong. I hope not, though, since I only collect girls!

 

I only collect girls as well but I do enjoy looking at all the boys. I got my Suiseiseki for a great price but I had to piece her back together lol ( head from one person, body and papers from another and I am still looking for her default outfit and wig) I really want Lorina/Alice but I am hoping they wait until Xmas so I can beg the hubby for "just one more" haha

 

Sorry, Katie, but it's actually quite random. There is no rhyme or reason with Volks releases. Sometimes, they release all girls (and perhaps a Yo-boy) and then they will also release boys (and perhaps a Yo-girl). Last year, for example, they only released Charlotte and Liesalotte at Osaka Dolpa. Then, at Kyoto Dolpa earlier this year, they only released the SDC Hansel and Gretel.

Because this is the first-ever Kobe Dolpa, I'm not sure what will be there, but I'm hoping that there will be both the SD17 boy and SDGr Lorina so that everyone will be happy. But, one can't really predict it. All we can do is wait and see.

 

Poor, but happy Besides, Rei and Kokoro are so lonely...

Hmms :/ just saw the update on volks site,sendai dolpa has been cancelled

 

Yes, there's been an announcement on the blog. Sendai Dolpa's off this year, but they do intend to do it at sometime in the future. It's not a big surprise considering many factors, but it is sad. They don't even have the Sendai Showroom re-opened yet, so things are obviously going to take a while in Tohoku to get back to normal.

That still leaves me wondering where they'll put Date for their releases. I'm thinking if they were planning to have him ready for the Sendai Dolpa the Kobe Dolpa does make the most sense.

 

Shipping of the guidebook starts soon! I hope we are lucky and get cell phone pics in the next couple of days as well as scans

 

I am actually wondering what DD's we may get if any. I would love to see more DDS girls and would really love to see more Touhou Project girls released.

The more I look at that pic of Date, the less I actually like his profile. I suppose I would need to see more pictures though. He doesn't seem....Volksy enough for me.

 

Please, keep the discussion on the subject of actual dolls rather than politics and history.

 

Masamune, from the profile, looks somewhat like Maki... >.> On the other hand, my friends keep telling me they're going to release Valkyria Chronicles characters as DD this time. >.< I'll be screwed big time if they release Selvaria...

 

Looking at him, without the Volks label and knowing he was a Volks doll, I would assume he was a Soom sculpt of some sort. Which is why he doesn't seem very Volks to me. Maki was instant 100% where have you been all of my life love.
