Hurray!!!! C: Can't wait to see who will be released for this one

 

OMG, more new Volks dolls? My bank account is trembling~!!

 

Awesome, I might actually be able to make this one! Had a company party on the day of Kyoto dolpa -_-; Though I'm a little nervous as I've never been before and I'm not sure what I need to do. Hopefully I can sort it out by then...have to ask at Sumika.

 

And still no US events....

Good news! I'm eager to find out what new LE dolls will be released! Also, most of the companies and brands that I purchase in life don't host special events for their customers, so I don't feel entitled to expect one from Volks in the USA.

I hope they release information on what they're releasing soon. I really want SD Victorique... but she'll definitely break the bank... unless this new Dolpla has something that really catches my eye. Here's hoping they'll release info soon.

Yes, but the other companies make their dolls a little more available to overseas customers. OK, So I'm just totally bitter about Una and big Lorina!

It's just because the special events Volks hosts is sometimes the ONLY way to get a lot of their dolls. (At least at a reasonable amount of money- $5000 to burn and a proxy service will get you anything off Y!J) And that is why it is annoying that there are no U.S. events. It means no special dolls for us.

Me too! I couldn't go last year and was so looking forward to one this year. I hope they do one next year...or something in LA that I can go to.

 

I think Lorina SDGR is probably at this DP since it is right after &#24863;&#35613;&#31085;

Last year Lorina is also available at the DP after it.

 

.... Of all the places for the event it has to be in Kobe We're still going to be in Tokyo at that time!!

 

I will be very happy indeed if Lorina makes this Dolpa!

 

*Mustcollectmoneymustcollectmoney* I think (or strongly wish ^^') they'll release Lorina then. Or maybe Alice too? (but that'll will kill me, unfortunately...) Fingers crossed for one now and the next in few months time!

 

I hope they will release Lorina at this event to Wouldn't be wonderful if volks released both big and little dolls of this pair! That would break my bank account lol.

Yeah Ess, it would be really cute to have a big sister Lorina for little Alice! Although I'm must admit to being a bit torn here. On one hand, it's always exciting to wonder what dolls will be released at any Dolpa, but on the other hand, I was still hoping in my heart of hearts that there we'd have another New York Dolpa this year. Don't get me wrong, I feel lucky that I've been able to attend all of the previous NYC Dolpas, not entitled. Those of us that have had the chance to go to any Volks events in the US really have had it good. The events Volks has thrown for collectors in the US have been so much more intimate than the huge Dolpas held at venues such as Tokyo Big Site. So while I'm waiting anxiously to see all the goodies this Dolpa in Kobe with bring, I'm more than a little disappointed that the timing seems to indicate there will not be a US Dolpa this Summer. And if my dream girl Ruby get released as either an event exclusive or a One-Off, I'll really be heartsick. No! I must not even think such a terrible thing! Doll dreams do come true and this one will too, here's hoping!

I was looking forward to attending a NY Dolpa for the first time this year but it doesn't seem like Volks is planning on having one. All I can do is hope that they have one in the works next year and I'll gladly wait for one.

I'm just grateful that Volks is gracious enough to have a store and 2 US Dealers here so that I can get limited Dolpa dolls directly through them and not via the second hand market. I'm friendly with a lot of other doll collectors that aren't able to buy Dolpa dolls directly from Volks and they shell out a lot of money to get them second hand because they don't live on this continent.

julidc- I totally understand how you feel too! I never go to experience a US Dolpa and regret not going to one in the previous years. But I'll be crossing my toes that Ruby will make an appearance at the next US event!

 

I hope they release more dolls with the DDs body!

 

I just hope i find somebody i want in this one ~_^ ! I hope for luna, kanon, er.. and i think thats it >.> ! But hey new molds are always welcome! I know I'm crazy but I'm hoping that I'd get a new addition haha!

 

They're doing so many Dolpas this year in Japan and have this whole "travel Japan" theme going on, so I'm not surprised they can't manage an NY Dolpa. Not that that would do me any good, I certainly couldn't go to NY either.

I always love the mixture of fear and eager anticipation with Volks events. "I hope they don't release anybody I want -- but I hope they do!" A Colin/Remi re-release would have me scrambling, though, because I do want another Colin. SD17 Tsukasa would also be heartwrenching because I wouldn't be able to get him . . .

 

No worries Essie. Word is Volks will be holding another NYC Dolpa this Summer, it's just unlikely that we will hear about it until about a month or so before it's scheduled to take place. I will let you know if I ind out a concrete date.

OMG Brandon!!!! That's awesome news! I just hope they don't have it at the end of June since James and I are going to Chicago then. I'm surprised they didn't announce it already since the other years they announced it several months before hand.

 

I'm sorry, that is completely LAME. This is not Japan. You can't just travel at the drop of a hat in America. The only people this will serve is the East Coast and even then only people who can drop everything and travel there. Volks either doesn't get how big America is or refuses to get it.

But it's not like I could afford to go anyway so it does me no good either to complain. But for everyone else this is going to be a big pain/disappointment. I wonder if they actually wanted to cut down on the number of applicants?

 

It's a problem becuase people have to ask off work in advance, $ave, make hotel and travel arrangements....hey I may not be able to go either if they tell us with one month advance. Last year I knew like 5 months in advance!!!!!

 

That's really not in keeping with the way they've held any of the past events. Last year's Dolpa was announced in January and it didn't take place until June. Hell, registration didn't even happen until April, but the concrete dates were announced by Volks and FDQ in January. Previous ones also included announcements early to allow people to plan and enter.

It'd be incredibly poor planning on both their parts to quickly throw up something a month before it happens if they expect it to be a physical event that people can actually attend. FDQ is a quarterly magazine, they wouldn't even be able to advertise for a Dolpa this summer now since their summer issue just shipped. I suppose FDQ and Volks could no longer be partners, but then I highly doubt an event happening at FIT without FDQ's assistance.

 

I can see 1 month notice for a web dolpa, but not a physical one.

 

I'm sorry. I guess there was some confusion when I posted that. I've been to the 3 or 4 NYC Dolpa's and forgot that I had time to plan hotel stays and travel plans a couple of months before hand, so the mention of 1 month warning was probably wrong. Very sorry about that. I think I was remembering the time they had to cancel the month or so before due to the bird flu.

Agreed. Every NYC Dolpa was held with FDQ helping out so I doubt they would change this. Sadly, I agree if the source of my info was correct we probably would be hearing announcements this month or last unless they were planning it to be late in the Summer (like late Aug or Sept) and they usually hold them in June or July so who knows. Maybe they heard it wrong?

 

I hope so too Essie. I'm starting to think the news was premature and my friend just heard it wrong. I'll stay hopeful though unless they confirm otherwise. I do love the trip and look forward to it every year. I they don't hold it I'll have to plan something else to get away, but it would be sad not to see my dolly friends this Summer.

 

Wow, I sure would love to see a September NY Dolpa! The weather would be so much nicer!

 

I would not mind an online Dolpa, as I am in CA and in school so I cannot travel this summer. I am dying for a chance at Lorina or Alice (please be Alice). I was so thrilled when they released the "extra" yo Alices after the NY Dolpa last year, except I had just spent my doll funds on Chika. So now I am waiting, patiently lol I am not buying anyone until the year is out or one of my two for-mentioned girls is released. The only way I would buy anyone is if Luna, or a yo four sister came out.
Has anyone emailed Volks to ask? I wonder what they would say? Maybe I might just do that right now lol

 

I think this information has to be wrong. I don't think Volks would throw something together last minute, it is not thier style.

 

That's pretty much what I was saying earlier. I think they and then I heard it wrong because nothing has been said by Volks or FDQ by now. Hopefully they will hold something online or even LA this year so we still have some fun in the US.

 

I'm more curious about what Volks has for the Kobe Dolpa than speculating on a rumor.

Either way even though Volks does have some hard to get dolls I think they still show their non Japanese fans love in offering their dolls in in online after event. The US still has better odds than some who go to the actual Dolpa.

Besides sometimes I do wonder how much of the need to get an exclusive is part of the "The coveting brings more joy the actual getting"

I am very curious to see which new dolls Volks has in store for us this round since the past few have been amazing. I know that a lot of people request/hope for repeats of collaborations with certain companies and I do love me some BTSSB, but I'd love to see them collaborate on more of these anime/manga characters and more fairy tales etc. this year. All of the ones they've released so far have been so darn cute.

 

I am still whining for Alice/Lorina. I just wish they would tell us if they will come to the US this year. I have other dolls I want, and I dont want to spend my $$ and then lose out. lol

 

I'd be so happy if Volks did a Dolpa in the late summer, I'll be moving so I'll be a 5 minute subway ride away (that is if they do it in NYC again)~ Anyway, on the topic of this current Dolpa, I'm still hoping for a Luna ^-^

 

I'm going to echo a lot of people and again hope for a Luna Or a Genji... That would make me just as happy.

 

This is EXACTLY how I feel too!! I wanted to put in for a Victorique but I want to be absolutely sure I have money if they decide to release Alice/Lorina.

 

Ooh! Dolpa. I know it probably won't happen, but I'm hoping for Elizabeth (Williams' sister). Love the Order of the Silver Coin and am curious to see what she'd look like.

 

It's hard to say at this point, but I would assume with this see-Japan sort of theme they've mentioned that either Kobe or Sendai will have some sort of historical theme.

I'm curious as to what Elizabeth looks like, too. I'm assuming she will also be good at angsting .

This is my only issue with Volks. Soon as I buy someone they come out with another "must" have. I bought my Chika and then Yo Alice came out and I couldnt afford her. I ended up buying her in the after market for a pretty penny. I am afraid if I cave for someone else they will release her and I will be in the same boat. I LOVE Luna and she has been on my want list since I first go into the hobby. I always want who I want but financially I pray someone I dont want comes along lol

I was amused watching the last Dolpa's LEs get announced by Japanese owners on Twitter, because they were saying the exact same thing!

I can't afford anybody no way, nohow, but I still love the excitement of hearing who the new LEs will be.

 

I feel the same as you, timid. I'm sitting out for this dolpa absolutely. I just can't afford it this time of year; July is always a broke period for me for some reason (probably because the high AC costs around that time from summer and from living with an elderly who is very sensitive to the heat). But I'm still super excited to see what the releases will be and who will be bringing home a new cherished doll or maybe even two, knowing a few of my friends lol. In that sense, I want July to hurry on up already! I want to see the eye-candy, dangit!

 

I think volks has gone a bit crazy of late, and for the people who cant control there spur of the moment buying this is bad news for them and there financial situations. Why do you guys think they are doing so many events at once? Do you think there losing money and need to sell more to make a quota, this makes me curious, either way ill peek at whats now in store for us when it decides to pop up, hopefully just some cute outfits ^^
