Volks Halloween Party in LA

Sep 23, 2006

    1. Wow! Then I feel re-e-eally lucky to have won Lucas!

      Was there an Anais?
      What scupts were #13, 15, and the auction?

    2. LOL So you've got your eyes on Shigeta-san's son, Kuni? ;)

    3. What a cute, happy looking lad! I'd eat him up with a spoon!
      :D :D :D

    4. The auction was an Anais :)

    5. When Shigeta-san was mingling with guests, he had Kuni with him as a translator and introduced him as well (Shigeta-san remembered about the St. Louis flood of '93--good memory!). Anyway, he asked if we had any questions. Of course, being an idiot, I promptly asked him how long his son had been a maid and if he had known about it. Kuni froze for a moment before translating my question, and Shigeta-san laughed and replied quickly, that this was his son's "hobby", which Kuni just about died translating for us, while arguing with his father the whole time. :D It was a good moment!

    6. All,

      Some of you may know that Cecil has been on my wish list for a long time, but I never thought I'd get him. I'm a practical doll buyer, above all, and I couldn't afford the $2500 after-market price tag on him :...(

      So when I saw him at the mansion, painted as smexy as I've ever seen him, in gorgeous fantasy-samurai clothes, I just about died on the spot. When it came down to it--though there were 3 boys there I'd have been thrilled to bring home--he was the only one I really wanted.

      I'll have to hope and pray that the TV crew didn't tape me doing my happy dance as I went into the mansion to collect him :sweat

      Anyway, long story short, here are a few fuzzy, sad pictures I took of him when I got home today. I'm exhausted now, but I'll post better pictures up later:

    11.
    12. Lady Samhainne: You are VERY lucky. I was staring at him, comparing my girl (a Sylvie) next to him... it must be doll-destiny. I didn't even put in for him. I could tell he wasn't meant for me. I am glad he has a happy home! I hope to see lots of pics of him in the gall!

    13.
    14. Lady Samahainne - good for you, you got the boy you really wanted!! I was admiring him too - oh, what hard choices that day!
      Astro - Oh, thats the F-09 you were telling me about while we were in line! Congrats, hes a cutie! And I didnt recognize you with the blue hair that day! Alex

    15. Lady Samhainne-- and Astro and Snowleopard-- Many congratulations for winning your lovely one-offs!!! How exciting!!!!

      I won one at the tea party a while back and I totally remember how amazing it felt!

      I hope you'll all enjoy your dolls and post many, many photos!!! :sumomo:

    16. Congrats to all the happy One Off Owners ^^ Personally i loved the F-09 and Aya. Please post more pictures :D I loved every single moment i spent at the Tea Party, even if it was freezing cold past 3pm xD

      I was happy to meet all the ppl that i already knew from the Parties/Events before. I wish i would have been more outgoing xD i love meeting new ppl ^^

    17. Hey, so, what was everyone's bonus present besides the hat? I got a CUTE cherry necklace. One friend got a japanese-style hair pin. Another got a "bling-bling" $ necklace.

    18. OK, coherent now. XD

      Drove down Saturday morning. Got to the Volks store a bit early, got everyone out, spent waaaaay too much money! (Left at one point, then went back later and spent more! But Ephram and Lukas really like their new wigs...) Then I just kind of hung around nearby shopping centres wasting time for a while. Ahahaha, I can't sleep worth a darn at night. XD LA radio rocks, though, I found a station that had an early morning trance show. Nothing like cruising at 4am with a doll and some nice trance music going. <3

      The party was awesome. XD It was great getting to see everyone's lovely dolls and getting to talk to people, and of course the Volks people were awesome as always. XD Valico was really nice and of course Mikey is awesome.

      Nai stands like a dream now after getting him tightened and my Femi has her headcap back on. XD;;; Her headcap is hard, the doll doctor had to fight it a bit even after heating it! XD;;; Poor Nai, his jeans have stained pretty bad and I was sitting there apologizing to the staff about it while he was getting worked on. ^_^;

      Last time I didn't get to ask in time about an omukae ceremony and didn't really have anyone with me that felt like they should have it done, but this time I was able to ask right off and Nai is still fairly new, so I got to have one done for him. ^_^ It was really really wonderful, especially with the Shigetas doing it and Ephram and Remus sitting there as well. I cried through the whole thing, I swear, I had trouble blowing out one of the candles. XD;;; And then the guy filming things interviewed me afterwards and I cried all through that too, and then the next three ceremonies before I finally made myself go back to the patio so I could stop! XD;;; They were good tears, though. ^_^ I cried at the one before mine, too. I felt really bad for her though, they had trouble with the lighter. ^_^;;;

      Ahh, that Tsukasa one-off was awesome... ;o; Someday! Hehe, Tsukasa, you just won't quit, will you? ^_^; The doll costume contest had some really awesome entries. ^^ I don't think I saw all of them, though, that room was always crowded and I think some people entered after the omukae ceremonies started and I didn't make it back there before they started announcing the results for the contests. I guess I found out the answer to why Mikey came over to the table I was at to check my number... ^_^; I got the Mikey's choice award, yay. XD That was really cool. ^^ The other winning costumes were great too! ^_^

      I got one of the $30 gift certificates in the lottery, as well as another one that was my prize in the costume contest,. ^_^;

      So what jewelry did everyone get? XD; I got a really pretty fancy hairpin thing in a dark metal with a cherry blossom with red crystals and dangly bits.

      Thanks so much to the lady(I forgot your name! I'm sorry. ^^; ) who helped me figure out how to get *back* after the party... ^_^;

      I dunno if I'll be able to make the June event in New York. >.<; I'll definitely be going to the LA Dolpa, though!

      Congrats to everyone who got one offs and seitenshi! ^_^v

      Er, I don't know if it would be appropriate to post a thread in picture request about it, but if anyone took pictures of Nai's omukae ceremony, can you please upload them for me and let me know where they are? I obviously didn't take any myself... ^_^;

      And then to top off the wonderful weekend, my MSD F-13 arrived today!

    19. I got a beautiful ring with a light blue stone, but unfortunately, it doesn't work for any of my kids, because it's SD13 size, but my two don't have split fingers. I couldn't sell it, but if anyone would be interested in trading for the piece of jewelry they got that doesn't work for their kids, that would be great. If not, I will just keep it as a reminder of a wonderful day! :)

    20. Kelly - I'll trade! I always need rings - I'll check tonight to see exactly what I got, think it was a necklace with 2 charms - I'll get back to you - Alex

    21. Yay! Thank you! My kids love necklaces! :)

    22. I got... a cross necklace, a cool hair baret, a ruby ring, and... I havne't looked at the last one XD I love these parties, they don't let you leave empty handed no matter what.

    23. Oh, man! My guest (who was also the driver) wanted to leave early, so we missed out on the thank-you gifts. Poo.

      (But we both scored gift certs in the raffle, so I can't really complain!)

    24. Ooh, RINGS! I love rings. And the hair pin sounds gorgeous- I'd really love to see one!

      I got a little black metal rose on a velveteen cord w/chain, as did TeaTime. Her boyfriend got a cute little pearl and chain necklace.

    25. When reading the alert in my email I didn't see it was you writing the post at first so I was thinking "Whaaaa?" Then I saw it was you. XD

      The necklace is still on Isabella though I can tell it's for an SD sized doll.

    26. I got two ruby rings (3 in a way since my boyfriend also got a ruby ring.) If anyone wants to trade me for a different color stone PM me ^^;;

      It was lots of fun though and it was very nice of them to give us so many lovely gifts.

    27. Im interested in buying that ring off of you if youre interested. I only went by myself, and I got a black rose chocker. Its incredibly beautiful, so Id like to keep it. But Id also like my Daniel to wear a ring. Just PM me if youre interested.

    28. Oops! Just took it out and its actually a pair of crown earrings with additional stones dangling off a longer chain - LMK if you're still interested, if not thats ok too! Alex

    29. Oh, that sounds so cute, but I only have boys with pierced ears and I'm not sure if they would put up with crowns.:sweat Thank you though!

    30. I got a Necklace with a black Cross and darkred stones and my husband got a ring with a pearl ^^ Anyone tried that Pumpkin Hat already?

    31. Oh, I didn't realize that your husband was there -- I'm sorry that I missed meeting him!

    32. I'm sorry I didn't talk to more people at the event. And I was telling myself this would be the time I'd finally put more doa names to actual people faces.... -_- But I was sick(not really badly yet I thought it was a mild chest cold) and didn't want to spread it.

      Did anyone get any good pictures of the costumes that people were in? I remember a few people had really pretty dresses on and various other nifty outfits.

    33. lol, i got a necklace w/ a cherry charm and my husband got a ruby ring :) my uncle who also went got a necklace w/ three cross charms ;p

      i think the "pumpkin hats" will work better as jello molds.

    34. Jola, I loved the pictures of your F-07 twins..that mold is just soooo precious, especially times two :D

    35. ah, i want something with a crown if anyone is willing to part...

    36. I've got the pumpkin hat on my F-09 mini, and Jola is right-- he looks like he's wearing a Jello mold on his head. :sweat

    37. I've actually got it on my SD10 F-09 and it looks really cute on him, kind of like a stylish hard hat.:)

    38. [IMG]

      My boy and his hat. It's cute!

      Oh, and I got some kind of crystal rosary thing with mine. I'm very pleased. :)

    39. I was just going to say... Don't the "hats" look suspiciously like breast-shaped jello molds? XD

      Ooh! I'd love to see what the ruby rings look like!

    40. Lol..they look more like jack-o-lantern shaped jello molds. Hmm..now I feel like eating jello ^^;;

    41. They obviously look like they're Jack O Lantern's, but they're suspicously boob shaped if you ask me. XD

    42. I finally had time to work on my photos yesterday. There are an even 100 of them. You can find them in Yahoo Photos at http://new.photos.yahoo.com/cindyward/album/576460762333344541 .

      If while viewing them, you get an error like "Uh oh something bad happened" or "Bad request", usually if you retry the action, using your browser's Back button if needed, it works the second time. Occasionally it doesn't work until the third time. I am not happy with how buggy Yahoo Photos is, but I didn't like the terms of usage of some of the other album sites like picturetrail and shutterfly *_*

      Enjoy :) ... Cindy

    43. Thanks for sharing your photos!!! You got a lot of shots that other people didn't show--like some of the wonderful matching costumes of dolls and their owners, and the displays around the one-offs and more of the people in costumes and the dolls on the tables, etc. I loved seeing all that! :)

    44. Wonderful photos, Cindy! Thanks so much for sharing :daisy I agree with april, I love seeing photos of the event itself.

    45. I had so much fun at the party. I went as Sally and my mom was my guest as Jack.. I had the bright red wig on.

      I don't really know who was who from here at DOA but I had fun meeting everyone I did and chatting with everyone. So fun! I will def go to the next event. :) Congrats to those who won sei tenshi!

    46. What did the costume winners receive as prizes? Just the trophies? The winning costumes were awesome! :D

      I wish I could have been there!

    47. I got a special mention prize for the Doll Customization (costume) contest--which was a Store Coupon. The top three winners got the lovely trophies. I'm pretty sure they probably got a Store Coupon, too... but I'm not sure.

    48. As President's choice, I recieved a $50 gift certificate but no trophy.

    49. Thank you for the photos, Cindy! I have certainly enjoyed them. You managed to capture scenes I hadn't seen in other photos of the event. :)

    50. I won second place trophy and recieved just the trophy, with trophy box. :)
