Volks Halloween Party in LA

Interestingly, when I went to the opening of the Harajuku Sumika, everyone was showing their cards at the door. When I got to the front of the line, since I didn't have one, the door person asked the manager if it was okay and they let me in anyway. Volks is so nice!

 

Ah good good. I just wanted to make sure X_X everytime I dont think we had to show ID but with just my luck they would switch the rules. I can just see myself forgetting to print out the invite.
I just got fabric for my costumes for my boys today. I cant wait to start.

 

They also haven't asked us who our guests are. So how would they know that you guys aren't a "couple" or sisters or just best friends who share everything with each other? I just don't see why they would care, just as long as you were accounted for and they planned for you.

 

Do you have to have a card to get into the halloween party?
I don't have one But I have bought from volks!

I've said this before. I emailed Volks USA and said, "My card never arrived". They said,"Oh something was screwed up with it. We will send you another one." Two days later, I received a card in the mail. Now I have my card.

 

I did that too. I have yet to receive it. I hope it's not going to be some major requirement to have it.

 

...It's not a "claim" -- Volks posted it themselves on the official blog. It proves that you can buy anything (re: not just Super Dollfie dolls) at the Volks US store and become a member, and that the SD owners list and the Volks USA member list are now combined.

 

All that means is that people on the SD owner list will be put on the Volks USA member list if they live in the US, it doesn't mean people who just bought $10 eyes from VolksUsa will be considered SD owners or part of that list, which is what I meant.

 

Well, I forgot mine last time and they didn't even ask me for it.

 

The last party they just checked people off of the list, but then I know Bailey so I don't know if they were asking others for ID. I do suggest printing up your invite and directions, just in case.

Volks USA Membership is everyone who has a card and a number with Volks, irregardless if you ever bought a doll. Anyone who has purchased from the store is in the data base, and that includes even small items. If you have a number with Volks, you are on that list. What Volks did is merge in the earlier registration info into that list, so they have one main list for the North American Volks. So if you previously registered your doll on the Volks Japan site, but never bought anything at the US store, you are on the list. If you bought eyes from the store and they gave you a number, you are on the list.

It's used as a database for merchandise purchases. They did not go through and see who had dolls on it for the last party, so no need for anyone to worry. I did not hear of anyone who was not admitted.

I hope this answers the questions. I suggest that if anyone has questions about the US Volks Membership, you might want to contact the store directly.

 

Is everyone going in costume? How many are going in cosplay? I am not, so I don't want to be the only one haha.

Does anyone know how long the party goes? Is anyone going to disneyland on the 30th?

We will be driving from LAX around 7 pm if anyone need a ride, is there a hotel everyone is staying at? I dunno where to book our room!

Most people I know going to the party don't cosplay, but will be in costume, so you won't be alone there and I don't think the Shigetas cosplay, can't wait to see what they will be wearing.

You might want to start a thread in the Meet-ups section for Disneyland on the 30th, could be some non-Volks people might want to go for that...

Most people bring one or two dolls, a few bring more if they are smaller.

the other parties went till about 6 pm? I just remember it being dark by the time we left the first party, but then we were the last to go because we were taking photos all over the mansion.

 

I might cosplay, but it'll be a really neat costume... which I think most can enjoy. =D

 

A lot of people bring more then one doll. I'll probably bring two.. don't really want to have more then one in each arm.

It was a invitation letter, I believe. She already had recieved her receipt for entry. It said she could come, bring a guest, and they are still sorting things out...

 

I haven't gotten an email back with invitation, just my confirmation when i entered for the tickets..

 

I haven't gotten anything either :/ But they said they're taking applications til the 13th... so I don't really expect to hear anything until several days after that honestly.

I don't see why she would have gotten her receipt before they even find out how many have signed up. They still have all day Friday. They could get 200 people out of nowhere. Unless she is attending with a press badge (I know some of the magazines get confirmed people in) I highly doubt she received her invitation.

Although, stranger things have happened.

 

I am kinda wondering if maybe it was just a mess up in the system. Maybe a past invite got circled through or something? I'll ask her to forward it to me....

 

I got a reciept too- just a reciept that said that I had 'bought' a ticket- thats probably what she got too- she just must have thought it was the actual ticket that you print out and gain entrance with.

 

Hmm..I wonder when Volks will send out the invites?

I was at the Volks store today and asked about the Halloween Party. Bailey (sp?) who works there said the invitations should be send out soon.

 

My friend was also at the store today and said they were going through the invites while she was there.

How odd. It really seemed like less people were interested this time. Perhaps they are going to set up a bunch of activities and that is taking space. Or perhaps they are worried about the weather being bad and are planning on being inside if that happens.

 

Phew! I made my travel arrangements BEFORE I received an invite, but I did get my invite e-mail today. I also have a companion invite I don't have allocated to anyone (although hamsterlolly gets first dibs if she didn't get picked in the lottery).

Since it appears to have been a lottery, would it make sense to try to match up people with companion invites that they won't be using to unlucky others who want to go (or more importantly already have travel arrangements) since Volks is asking for entry at the same time? Just a thought ... Cindy

 

Yep, saw that. I haven't heard of anyone *not* being invited yet, so there's still hope for my friends.

Maybe with the costume competition, it motivated more people to apply? Dunno.

 

Maybe it's because of those events they can have less people at it? I mean.. A costume competition and things like that can take a LOT longer the more people are inolved.

 

I believe I have room for two guests as well. (My friend and I each asked for a guest in case the other didn't get an invite...)

 

Hmm.. I feel sorry for whoever didn't get an invite since it seems like almost everyone got one :/ But hopefully if they read this blog they can go as a guest with someone!

Still I think in the future people shouldn't apply for a guest if they don't have one in mind since doing so clearly made it so some people now cannot attend at all

Yeah, but part of the problem also is now that it is so close to the date of the party our two friends couldn't get the time off work now. Boss said if they go, stay gone. *shrug* I am sure that is the problem with a few other people.

(clarify) We had our own "back ups" who want to go but don't own a Volks yet, but now their coming isn't an option.
