Volks Halloween Party in LA

*loves the postcards* I'm going to try to find some way of getting there - the only issue being a place to crash. ^^;

 

Luckily we're only an hour away! I want to go so bad! Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday

 

For anyone wondering the drive from the Torrance shop to the mansion is only a bit over half an hour. Maybe a little more or less depending on traffic and if you get lost in palos verdes estates.

I just finished planning my costume. XD I hope this event will be like the last one where you don't need to be a member to apply. That way I can bring one of my friends as well as my boyfriend.

 

Well, that was something that came up for my friend and I at the first tea. She was invited, I wasn't, and only I had a car! We begged and pleaded our case to Volks, eventually they said I could come too, but I am always worried that one of us will be invitied, one won't, and they WON'T say okay...

 

I have a feeling that this time you will need to be a member and have one of those membership cards they sent out to apply. Hopefully we can still bring guests though!

 

That would be bad.. I never got mine. I have one from the store, but they never mailed me another one... I have a volks doll but last time I asked they said that they weren't taking registration stuff at the moment....

I hope that wouldn't mean that people who didn't get mailed another can't apply...

That would be really unfair...

volks people are very nice.

 

Are the cards you get from the shop the same as membership cards?

Or is it a separate registration?

How do I get a VOLKS Membership?

Membership cards are given to:

* Customers who order or have ordered at the VOLKS USA Website.
* Customers who register or have registered at Tenshi no Sumika in L.A.
* Customers who have registered in the &#8220;SD Owners Club USA Registration&#8221; at the Volks Japan International Website. (Registration is now closed.)

What are the terms and conditions of VOLKS Membership?

* The Volks Membership card is only valid for the person whose name is on the card.
* In the event that we have any members only events your card will be asked for upon entry.
* If you need your card reissued we will ask for a $5 replacement and handling fee.
* This card does not afford you any special discounts or privileges unless otherwise specified in either this outline, or at any given time.
* All information collected by Volks Group will only be used for our personal business reasons and will never be sold or given to any third parties.

 

I would assume you'd need a card... but if you've bought from them in the past or have an old member no., you could email them to say you didn't get this year's, and probably get them to send you a new one.

 

The US Volks store is less than a year old..

 

The LA store issued 2005 cards, and then sent out new cards for 2006.

 

Yeah, I never got mine either. xP To be turned away because of that would be a little annoying... I'd hope they would know enough to double check if you -should- have received one as opposed to just asking for one just because.

 

Eep! V, you're allowed to take a guest, right? If I can go, I'm sure either Ebi or I will use you as our "guest".

 

unfortunately I'm stuck in the same boat as V... and my oar isn't helping much!

I bought 3 dolls from their Torrance store, I sure hope I can go! because if I were not allowed because of the cute new little card... I'd be quite sad!

 

Well, once we see what the requirements are I am sure those with cards and no guests can help others in.

 

I think they would know if they didn't sent out every single card if you're in the system.

 

If you didn't get a card just e-mail them about it ^^ I mean, if you think you qualify for a card and didn't get one might as well ask.

 

I thought more on it and realized that anyone who didn't get a new card but still has the old one still has their memeber number. So I'm sure if they require you to have the card to sign up you just enter your member number. At which point it wouldn't matter which peice of plastic you had. *nods*

I'll be going by there this saturday anyway to ask various other questions, I'll just add this one to the list.

They're nice so I'm sure everything will turn out ok.

I can't find the post about the new cards they sent out, but I know some people had different numbers for some reason... o_O Either way, if you've bought anything from them ever, they have you in their database.

I agree, I'm sure everything will turn out ok. There's no point fretting about it until they tell us the specific requirements for entry.

Sigh.. I wish Volks would update their blog. Its been a week and a half now. I'm already committed to going down there ^^; but I wish I they would give us some more information.

 

MMM... as much as I would love to go, absolutely love to go, I've already been to one volks event (The LA opening reception) and I'm not going to pay for plane tickets, hotel, etc just for a halloween party. Stupid practicality, it needs to go away :P Maybe for the next one!

I'm so excited, my dad's got the time off work and so we're definitely going down to LA for the weekend! I've never been to the Volks Mansion before.

I do hope they update soon though, the curiosity is killing me! When I called the store a day or so after the announcement, the person I spoke to mentioned that they'd update with more information in a week or two. Looks like its going to be closer to two! *tries to wait patiently*

as of sunday I got the poliet/formal/stanadard "can't tell ya/don't know anything yet" line... I wonder when the information will actually go up... Already, for all practical purposes, the 4th. 24 days to go!

The delay on news about the H'ween party makes me think Volks is going to try something different on who and how many people will be able to attend.

Yeah, I mean, I don't know... I'm not gonna be able to go if they don't let us know whether or not we can come within the next week, cause I have to contact my grandpa and find out if I can stay with him, and get leave to take a couple days off work and school. I'd need like two weeks notice to get everything taken care of.

 

I dunno. I think they're just taking a little while with the submissions for invitations because the web site tends to be slow. I really hope they don't limit it to a really small number of people.... But then again I've never seen Volks act like that. So far they've been very welcoming and I don't think they'd highly limit a fun event like this. I think it'd be more likely that they'd try to figure out how to fit more people into the mansion.

Also I don't think it'll be a problem for everyone to get in... It looks like less people are coming to this than came to the tea party and there didn't seem to be a lottery for that event. I'm looking forward to the prospect that everyone who applied might get to go again this time. I'm also hoping to bring some friends along who'd need to apply separately so.... I am a little more biased than normal. XD

I agree. But I can also understand the concept of not wanting to say if it IS an email system or something untill they're ready to start receiving the emails.

I guess my biggest nail biting concern is that out of town folks need more time to plan ahead on travel and accomodations.

Were there other parties that didn't have a lottery? I believe the NYC and LA party in Aug, had lotteries.

 

Really?.... I thought that the LA tea party that displayed the new FCS heads didn't have a lottery..... Maybe I was wrong. O_O I really hope everyone can go... Especially considering how many people have already made plans to come out here from far away.

 

I don't think either actually had a lottery.. Volks said if they got too many applicants a lottery would be held but it wasn't necessary to actually hold a lottery either time.

Since this one is in October and many people are now in school etc I think there will be less people applying to go this time and so I doubt a lottery will need to be held.

Well, my friend and I just had to assume we'll be invited. Our job requires a lot of advance notice before runnin' outta state for a weekend... (not like a well trained monkey couldn't replace us...it's pretty much push three buttons over and over for eight hours...)

 

Do you need a membership card to go? I dont have one... I think Im only about an hour away and itd be such a shame if ... god i just wanna go I mean Ive never been to one before...

 

If you buy something from VolksUsa or the physical store you will be considered a member and probably get a card with your order. There is a free way to be considered a Volks SD club member but it requires signing up on the international site and the SD list normally closes after the first few days of the month, and requires you to be an SD owner, of course.

 

This is probably still an unknown, but I'll ask anyway... does anyone have any idea if the store will be open on Saturday, the day before the party?

It will be open. I was told they changed it to the last day you can order sunlight skin, since originally it was the day of the party. and the store isn't open on the actual day of the party.

I was able to open an account at the japanese volks site.. i think.. but it only says web user account.. so i guess thats not it huh...

argh so I have to be an SD owner.. Im already broke after ordering my first BJD and shes not from volks... the only thing that I can buy right now is an acrylic eye or a sock...

so.. does that mean the only way for me to get in is to beg someone to take me as a guest...? ...

The costume contest sounds really cool I was thinking of making a costume and now I think I'm definately going to do it.. I just hope I can finish it in time.

Btw.. I went a tried to apply for a ticket but got a message saying the tickets were not available at this time. Has anyone been able to successfully apply?

Interesting to see that they made it automated this time, will probably be less intimidating to people..hope everyone who attends remembers to be polite and to have fun, instead of worrying about winning something.

And no, the web user account is just to keep track of your purchases through that site (the information won't carry over to the Korean or US sites). To be in the SD owner club you have to register one of your Super Dollfies on the list, but it is closed for now.

Hm well I didn't apply since there's no way I can go, I guess all you can do is e-mail VolksUsa and tell them you can't get the application to go through. They usually are good about replying to questions.
