Volks Full Choice System 2008 ~ New heads & New services ~

Not to shamelessly promote myself, but you could ask an FCS service to order him for you. Although I highly recommend coming to Kyoto if you have the opportunity, you still need a Japanese address for Volks to send the doll to.

 

Yah, the shipping is another problem because it won't be easy shipping from Japan to Canada. I'd be a bother to relatives and/or friends in Japan.

 

Actually, since the doll arrives in its own perfectly sized shipping box, all your relatives would have to do is take it to the nearest post office. You can even fill out the form before you leave Japan. It's really not a hassle at all.

Are the FCS molds limited? Or how often do they discontinue them? I am also falling pretty hard for the F-38, but I don't know if its worth it to start saving if Volks will discontinue him in 2009...

 

the headmolds are not limited at all - and it seems to take a long time to discontinue molds - and since the f38 is probably really popular, i don't think they'd ever discontinue him so i would have no worries about not having time to save up.

 

They only seem to discontinue head molds very infrequently. They did have a big FCS overhaul a few years ago where they discontinued a bunch of the previous FCS molds, but since then they seem to be pretty reluctant to do so- a couple of heads were discontinued earlier theis year but they were only older sculpts and I'm guessing they were unpopular and selling very poorly, like Shinshiya/Misha. F38 is still rather new and seems like he'll be pretty popular so I doubt they'd discontinue him anytime soon!

EDIT: According to Creating Dreams they were actually discontinued over a year ago! Wow, time flies!

 

If you are taking a package holiday to japan and want to do an fcs while you are there, you can try nicely asking the travel company who organized the trip for you if you could have the dolls sent to their office. That's what we did. They siad they did it quite often for other people too, not for dolls but for people who take pottery courses in Japan.

 

The new FCS heads were released in October, right? Does that mean unpainted F40s might show up this month or would it be more like early December? I'm really anxious to see more pictures of F-40.

I've tried looking for pics already and haven't found any and F-40 isn't even listed in the Japanese doll databases I know of.

 

F-40s that were ordered with no faceup started shipping last week. We should be seeing owner pics soon!

 

I wrote to Volks Japan and asked them if they intend to discontinue the F-38. the reply was that there is no intentions at this time to discontinue that head. I need to know because I cannot plan a trip to Japan next year and then have the him disappear on me.

Sigh. The exchange rate is a menace. If the Yen keeps appreciating, (or Canadian dollar keeps falling at this rate) I will not be able to visit Japan and will have to order the doll through FCS service. I would prefer very much to go to Kyoto for him because just feels right to do that.

I'm very thankful he is not a limited supply doll and those of us who want him can get him with effort and planning. This is good.

 

I ordered a F40 tan skin with no faceup XD he's currently on his way to my house ;x; I got some teaser photo from PurgatoriX and I would say he's really handsome even without the faceup XD *sqeeeeee*

Ooh! Will you be keeping him and doing the faceup yourself? If you are, then I am so eager to see the gorgeous faceup that you'll give him! The mold is still such a mystery, since there are few photos of him. But I'm glad that the first complete F40 I see will be yours! I'm sure he'll look amazing!

Ooh! The headmold is much better looking than I thought it was! At first, I thought it looked too similar to Volks Tony but with more squashed features, but the preview photo makes me like it so much more! It seems to have F35's eye shape.

Ah... so my question has been answered. It's either a Sakaki or a F-40 for me now... it's nice to have another option from the same company. But I'm still going to gun for Sakaki when I can though. =^.^=

 

I don't know if this was mentioned before, but in addition to beauty marks and freckles, Volks will also paint teeth on SD head molds 01, 03, 05, 06, 09, 10, 12, 14, and 15.
