Volks Dolpas in August - Discussion thread

It does help, thanks! My classes start tomorrow and I just really want to get this matter sorted out so I can concentrate on them

 

I'm glad nobody else seemingly got a notification because I didn't either. I was worried that I'd lost and they were going to send out losing notifications a day or two later.

Still -- I reeeeally wish Volks would hurry up and pull names (they know how many dolls and how many entries they have, certainly it's not *that* time consumming?). If I don't get my doll there's something else I really want to get and of course I can't afford both. If I don't find out in the next day or two, though, I won't have the other option if I don't get my doll. ;_;

 

No conformation here.....but they did email me back on a complete seperate matter from two weeks ago (about an out of stock part)?! I really hope they send out losing emails too.

 

No word here either.

 

This is very nerve-wracking. No word here either...perhaps they won't be contacting winners today?

 

It says starting August 28th..maybe it will take several days? :\

I've been checking my email all day and no word yet (I'm going towards Kuuta). I'm really scared now that I won't be able to have him. *sad sigh*

 

Or it could mean they're just starting to organize it? :\ I think SOMEONE would have heard by now.

 

This has happened with every single Dolpa. It always takes them a couple days after the day they said they would send out the emails to actually send them out, and everyone usually receives their emails the same day. Please be patient, and don't start emailing them to find out if you won or not. It slows them down more. Also, if you didn't win, you won't receive an email. At least that is what has happened in all the previous Dolpas....

 

I don't think anyone said anything about emailing them....but I do agree with you. Also, I have only done after events where you know if you will get your doll right away. Everyone is just excited and nervous. it is a lot of money that you "may " be spending. People's anxiety is understandable.

I agree with NabeeRain... we're only excited, worried, and nervous. Which isn't a bad thing ^^; And I don't think anyone said they were off emailing Volks about it at all

Okies guys you should check out the Anne Estelle 10" Size clothes! They fit the YoSD girls great! You can find them on ebay really cheap...I just got one for my Tinatsu!

It is ok! There will still be an after event soon and you can try to buy one there if you don't end up getting an email. That what I have done before.

I put in for two and got one. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled names out of the lottery once one doll was won, especially between the two Yos. They have to hold onto some stock for the international after event.

(I really wish Tinatsu and Kuuta had opposite heads, though. I love his makeup but I can't justify forking over another $400 to try and get him in the after event.)

You can always giver her a new face up or add some blushing without removing or harming the orginal one.

Yeah, true, but I'm reeeeally not good at that and can't really pay someone else to do this (I work only part time and I'm currently going through hundreds and hundreds of dollars to apply to grad school so just Tinatsu herself is a huge indulgence). I'm also nervous to touch her because the face has everything to do with how I feel about a doll. I've found I can only buy dolls with faceups because otherwise... they just sit there, ignored.

With any luck I'll open the box to love-at-first sight and not want to touch her face at all. I was convinced my SDC Kurenai would need a repaint, but then she got here and I've been happy with how she looks ever since. It's like... that's sort of who they are, ya know? ^^;

 

I haven't gotten one yet!

And if you didn't get one, don't forget about the international after event! If you have a decent connection speed and are right on time, its usually not that hard to snag one. ^_^ And there will always be a few that pop up in the marketplace later.

But my Mom didn't get her Kuuta. T_T I'm disappointed about that, I really wanted to see just how big Yo's are.

 

Now the Syo database will have at least two more beautiful boys in it soon..yay!!

 

I got my Tinatsu! Now off to convince family it's my birthday present...That should be easy since my bday is in October and that is when I'll probably get her!

Now that Volks USA is open and they are doing things like this there arent going to be as many items available in the international after events. It was a bit of a trade off. But there is still some hope (although so far, every after event has been at a time I cant be home or the internet is down). And like I said, I've already paid double for other things in the after market so that is still an option for me (not a good one, but an option).
It would be nice if they sent a 'sorry not this time' email to the losers though - I kept checking my email every 30 minutes or so last night, just hoping there was a delay. And I even kept a ray of hope alive this morning and checked again.

For everyone that didn't win a Yo and still wants one I'd suggest using a shopping service and bidding on Yahoo Japan. There are lots of Yo's up there right now.

The prices look to be around $375 - $515 when converted using www.xe.com Of course with the shopping service it'll probably run you an additional $100+ for the service and shipping but this still seems like a good price. You may be able to get one this way for under $500 with all shipping included. Considering people who ordered from Volks will probably pay around $400 (or more) after shipping the price difference isn't that big. As time goes on I think the price of Chinatsu and Kuuta will only increase.

NabeeRain you make me smile too! I'm so truly happy for you & others. I already bought Kuuta on YJ... may turn him into a girl... sharpening the ole tools as we speak! No really, what happened was I bid on the wrong darn doll, can you believe that? There's no withdrawing bids with the deputy services, so here I am with a doll I like & will love but not "the one!" Will need to reload funds to get Tinatsu. Oh well, off to the vintage Barbie room to make some cuts... let's see Barbie or Midge? umm

 

After sale on Volks Japan is Sept 9/10, but like I said, not many likely to be there, since this is in store and web.
There was a Tinatsu sold on ebay this week for over $800 and I would guess once the last aftersale is gone the resale price will be over $1000. Although there is also a Piccalo for 400 (currently).
I guess I'll keep dreaming and hoping (and maybe someone - not on DOA - who won but will fall through on payment and I'll still have a chance - I like to dream)
Stinkerbell, if the Tinatsu went for over 800 now, list your boy on ebay, I'm sure he'll be even more and you can get your girl.

 

Ohhh StinkerBell that's Awful I'm sorry. But maybe you could sell your boy, and get your girl any way. There are a lot of Tinatsus on YJ! Auctions.... I'm sure you'll get one if you want. Good luck with whatever you decide anyway.
