Volks Dolpas in August - Discussion thread

Those Yos are adorable! FINALLY a "regular" release tiny from Volks that I really want! It'll be hard to choose between the boy and the girl though, they're both too cute.

And recently there have been two main ways to get Dolpa dolls from Volks: the Volks USA lottery (for North America only) and the after event on the Volks international site.

The lotteries so far have been very soon after the Dolpa, and you usually have to wait at least a month or two for your doll if you "win" it (the odds are pretty good but vary from Dolpa to Dolpa). The online after event will probably be a few weeks after the Dolpa, but who knows how long those dolls will take to ship! It used to be that after event dolls shipped out right away, but I'm STILL waiting for the SDC I bought from last Dolpa's after event. Won't stop me from buying again, of course. ^_~

 

wait, they all regular release? sorry, confused. been drilling screws in hot sun all day to buy my yo, lol. so, just keep an eye out on both sites for info then? i can wait for my little girl, i just want her!

 

Not sure if she meant just "regular" limited run, as in not small amount like Shinku, but they are definitely not standards.

 

If these are the Nagoya LEs, does that mean they'll release a different set for the other Dollpa?

I've heard that for Nana and Kira at least that they may be released in different outfits at the different Dolpas. I'm not sure if that was just another rumour or fact, though.

 

You mean the Makuhari Dolpa? The website lists the same dolls for both Dolpas. So I'd say no there probably won't be a different set for that one. It'd be kind of hard on Volks to release 2 different sets of LE's a week apart.

 

Oops, sorry for the confusion! I meant that it that was a "regular" release in that it is a regular limited release, rather than the ultra-limited releases that the Yo-Tenshis have had. There are no standard Yo-SD's, sadly.

Ahhh, the YoSDs are adorable! I wish I had enough money for one now, I'd definitely try to get one as soon as possible! Now I just have to hope either A) They aren't super popular, and will be available on volksusa for a while yet after the dolpa or B) They don't wind up going for too much on the second-hand market and after saving a bit I'd be able to get one from Y!J without breaking my bank account.

 

The Sweet Dream dolls are all lovely, I think Syo would make an awesome girl^_^

I really hope that the YO-SDs will be available for us to purchase. I've been saving up so that when volks released a YO-SD that stole my heart I'd have enough and this makes me glad that I've saved

 

Heh. I wish volks would release some standard tinies. Actually, I wish they'd release a new standard, period. It's been, what, two years? There were rumors of them putting out a new SD13 standard boy a while back, but I guess they turned out to be just rumors.

A FCS for Yo-SDs would be amazing too.

 

At one point Volks said there would not be an FCS for Yos because the parts are so small and they're much more detailed work. That can also be backed up by the fact that they don't make Sei Tenshi optional parts, even for people who have accidentally damaged theirs. Although, one could also look at it in another way..back when they first started making SD10 girls, Volks never thought of making boys, it took owners to convince them

 

i just want the girl yo, that's it! when do you think they will release information about if we can order them too?

We're always allowed to order limiteds unless they're one of the collaborations, then they're usually sold a bit differently. Most likely Volks won't give us much information on the dolls or when the web Dolpa will be until a week or two before the first real one happens. When they do, it'll probably be on Toppi's blog first.

anyone have pictures of the full outfits the limiteds have?? btw this dolpha is in japan correct? do u think they will give some out to the LA volks store so the US can have a dolpha of their own? im liking those yosd's too much!!!

 

No it's fine, I just meant don't expect to hear much news until the Dolpa is very close, Volks likes to be difficult that way

There are two Dolpas being held a few days apart, both in Japan. Most likely we'll get some at the LA store after the two Dolpas and after events in Japan are done.

The outfits Kuuta & Chinatsu wearing will be sold at Nagoya & Makuhari Dolpa.
Yo-SD sets always don't include outfits ^_^.

 

i'm wondering, if you live and japan and go to the dolpa, can you get a yo there? my mom's friend is in dakota af base over there, is that any where near the locations for the dolpa? and would she be able to get one for me if she doesn't speak japanese? yeah, i know long shot, but i want one so bad, i had a dream about it last night! no joke, lol.

 

ummm if you live in the Northern Hemisphere your best chance at getting a Dolpa doll, is by applying at Volks USA when they offer a doll or trying the On-Line International event. Since the Yos are being offered in Nagoya and in Chiba, chances are pretty good they will be offered both at VolksUSA and in the On-Line AE. The only Dolpa dolls since Volks USA opened that weren't offered through Volks USA were Shinku the Rozen Maiden and the Sweet Dreams/Awake Dollfie Dream bride. (Both were Tokyo Dolpa dolls) We got all the Kyoto Dolpa dolls and all the Nagoya ones last year.

You can attend Dolpa even if you don't speak a lot or any Japanese, I have, but it is a bit grueling, there are no guarantees of getting a doll there, and really a lot to ask of someone who is not a collector. I have no idea where the "Dakota" base is, you would need to give a city in Japan. I know there are a big Navy base in Yokosuka and Air Force in Morioka.

I think they are all very cute! I love all of the sleeping dolls, and while I'm usually not a mini person, Chinatsu is adorable.

Is it just me, or does Sweet Dream Kira look a little modified? Her head looks slightly more angular, and her lips have more of a kiss/smile look to them. I think Syo looks slightly different too. Something about the nose and lips. Maybe it's just the pictures or my imagination. Either way, they're adorable!

 

ahh, well nevermind then. she's done alot for me in the past, and she said she doesn't like going off the base anyway, eventhough i would be so happy if i was in japan! i think they are an hour away from tokyo. yes, i'm very impatient, lol, but i'm building a stupid fence just to get money for a yo, so it's alot of hard work! and the very hot weather! i think kira and syo do look a little different too.

 

I'm still trying to tell if Kira is modded or just painted that way, though it wouldn't surprise me if at least her head was a different size. Volks has been making all their melon heads a little bit smaller when they release new limiteds, it seems. Syo is definitely different, I've been studying the pictures and he looks fairly different from oldskin and Pureskin Syo with (obviously) different eyes, more upturned, round nose, and it's not easy to tell if his lips are just painted bigger or if they are bigger. The inside of normal Syo's mouth is crooked and makes him look like he's biting his lip, they might have finally changed that with Syo-SD. Either way I'm really looking forward to getting this boy eventually

 

Welcome to the Volks school of patience! I'm a pretty impatient person too, but I have to say in the last year i'm getting better at it since its soo hard to wait for the dolls you want to be made available and then theirs the pre-order and shipping time. I'm gonna estimate (just for fun) that that little girl will be in your arms about late November /Dec. Because Dolpa is in Japan late August, average 2 weeks maybe three for the announcement and actual USA after-event and/or international sale. Thats puts us around mid to last week in Sept. About another few days if demand is large enough for a lottery (they might skip this step) to be e-mailed the invoice. Here we are at the first or so week in Oct. Then comes the month or so waiting time (i'm not too sure why) could this be shipping time from Japan to US Sumika? and then a week/ 10 days (maybe a little more depending on how many orders they have to ship) from Sumika to you. And there's my guess! of late Nov.

I do think you'll get her though as most have said through one of the after events because it really is alot to ask for a non- collector to stand in the JP Dolpa lines and its so disappointing to stand in a line for hours only to learn that they have sold out of the doll you really wanted and you never even made it to the Volks Booth

Sweet Dream Mimi is the same, just a hint of a smile. I'd like to know if her head is smaller. Anyone have measurements?

oh man, i hope i get her! the yo's are the only volks dolls i would want, well, except for chii, but yeah fat chance on that, lol. if i could just win the lottery, i could go to japan myself! he-he. geez, december? it'll be like a christmas present! i really do hope i get her! my hand is not raw from putting screws in wood all day for no reason! it hurts! i'm stalking this thread like every couple hours for updates, i think i'm crazy!

 

Kuuta reminds me of a mini Arashi. Who looks like a mini Isao/Tsukasa mix.

Good thing I don't like Yos or the outfits available for them. XD

 

Kira looks so different, I keep looking at my Kira and Syo at home and they look so different from the sleeping ones. Specially Kira.

Definately getting Kuuta. I have the money in hand and the itch to mod his back to take the yo-tenshi wings. x3 He's too too cute. And the girl looks exactly like a little Midori.

Hmm, if I can't ever get my Yuki, I'd loooove to have Kuuta. His face, wig, and eyes are all just adorable. But my Yo-SD plans call for a girl so I don't know how that would go. *lol*

 

Don't Chinatsu and Kuuta have the same headmold, like all the other pairs of Yo-SD's Volks has released have? Their make-up is very different this time, so its hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing that they probably do.

 

It's almost guaranteed that they do. The difference could be because they may have different designers.

 

I'm nearly positive they have the same head mold. However the make up looks pretty different, the eye colors are different, and the wigs are tremendously different!

 

Yay! Thanks! n_n Hopefully more people will decide whether they want to keep it or not when they have her in their hands! Yo's are so cute... I wish I could afford another one, but I should really get a bigger girl first.

There's no way I could get the yo girl and a sunlight fcs @_@ I think the boy is much cuter but since they're the same mold (and I would probably have em repainted anyway) I think I may try for her if I can come up with the money in time x__x

Well maybe if there is a lottery I'll enter for both Chinatsu and Kuuta and then if I win Kuuta I'll just give him a girly face-up and dress him in drag ^^;; Don't get me wrong, I think Kuuta is very cute, I just really want a girl Yo-SD. I can afford one as long as I don't buy a doll at the Volks La Tea Party (we'll see how that works out) ^^;;

 

I've posted some pictures of the clothes coming out at Dolpa on the News thread. By request, here's a picture of the Yos, so you can compare them I guess. Please note that these pictures are NOT from the dolpa guidebook(s) - the guidebooks are in B&W, and don't have a proper picture of the Yos in them anyway.
