where is the English version of the international site I don't see it?

 

Will it be a lottery?

 

In the past, it has been done as a lottery. You would have to fill out a form accordingly and wait for the results. They don't send e-mails to the folks who didn't won the chance to purchase though.

after reading the after event page, I start wondering if VolksUSA will participate in this event. volksusa is not on the list TAT

 

I read on a different thread that volksusa is not offering a lottery - so no usa dolpa! you have to enter the international or buy on Yahoo Japan in the after market.

 

VolksUSA is no longer offering lotteries for Dolpas period. With the closing of their storefront they announced the discontinuation of their lotteries through the USA site. Now all international buyers must go through the international site.

 

If only we had a VolksEurope, I could order a beautifull Melty with these lovely pointed elf ears !!!

 

I thought the international also meant you can enter too when they put the English page up for the lottery.

 

I remember Volks USA offering some Dolpa 31 dolls when they first re-opened. Was that a one time thing? It would be nice to have a second option other than the after event... Y!JA prices for Lieselotte is already off the roof.

 

I only remember Volks doing a sale for Dolpa items during the summer. I remember DD Sakura Shinguji (from Sakura Wars) and DD Asuna being two of them; others may be from Dolpa 29 (?). But I have a feeling that they were available a second time because of overproduction.

 

I remember they had a sale for Yo-SD Rinon, Elena and Kanata on a first come first served basis. They even had Hajime Saito in stock... I guess that was due to overproduction too then. I highly doubt there will be many Lieselottes left after the after event. Meh...

 

It will add more to the market though so it may help drive prices down a bit.

Just a quick question... Can more than one person from the same household enter the lottery? Just wondering if having the same address would somehow cause any problems.

 

I never tried it before, but I don't see why not. I think some DoA folks here who are mother-daughter and husband-wife pairs have been quite successful in the past.

 

Um.... I could swear that I saw the rules saying only ONE entry per address and that the order would be cancelled if more than one order for the same address was put in.
The rules should be up though and so you can read them and be sure then. This was for the USA site.

It is one entry per account not address. My husband and I have put in for the same doll on both VolksUSA and the international site before and both won. Volks knows that there are households with more than one doll owner so they limit it to one per account. Now if you open more than one account in your name and try to enter the lottery with more than one account they will give you the ban stick.

 

um... so basically you can't use the same name with two accounts and go for the same doll. But your husband or sister /housemate with their own account and the same address can enter for the same doll and different credit card I would think.... not sure on that one though.

 

[MENTION=448]TreeLore[/MENTION] That sounds about right. I think for the credit card, just the address needs to match. After all, you can't argue against the possibility of a household with one person being the only credit card owner.

 

Yes you could have a mother and daughter wanting the same doll and the credit card being the mothers.

Heya guys! Happy new year! I've been in this hobby for awhile now, but I've yet to make the pilgrimage to Dolpa. Last year, it was held in around May, so I assumed this would be a recurring month held annually. Now after doing some research, I'm much more confused now.

I was hoping if one of you guys may know the answers to some of my questions?

1) How often does Dolpa happen in a year?
2) What is the difference between after event and Dolpa?
3) Who do I have to follow to keep up with the latest Dolpa updates? (is there some sort of Newsletter?)

1. There's a Dolpa four or five times a year, I think.
2. Dolpa itself is a big event with the limited dolls, Sumika items, Dolpa activities like scavenger hunts and bingo, and dealers. The after event is an opportunity for those who couldn't go to Dolpa (or who didn't get the doll they wanted at Dolpa). There's after events at the Volks stores in Japan and online; different stores will have different dolls available for lottery, while online will usually have all the limiteds available for lottery. RiverR covered a lot of info, but here is some more for you too:

DollPa happens 2 times a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. This is in Tokyo. Dollpa Dolls Town, which is like a Dollpa and sometimes a lil' different but pretty much the same thing, also happen in several places over the year. There's usually one of those in the spring and one in the fall. It rotates between cities with no clear pattern. So far Hometown Osaka, Kyoto, and Nagoya happen on a semi-regular basis, and in some years it's been in Kobe or Sendai. So, in total, there are usually four events, one per season-ish.

Sometimes there are other events as well in other locations, especially at the home store in Kyoto. There are also events that are 'Members Only' if you are part of the Volks VIP program. It's confusing, but for Dollpa the site RiverR linked is probably the best reference! I know there's a lot of folks who've been to a lot of events who may know more!

 

RiverR & Gryfeathr: Thanks for the response guys! I have another question, will every Dolpa host dealers? I find that the artisan part of the hobby is also as intriguing and I'd love to see it for myself (as well as do a bit of shopping). Any ideas on that?

 

clowve: A large part of Dollpa are the dealers! It makes for a large part of the venue. Incidentally, there are also general doll shows in Japan (and other nearby countries) as well, such as DOLL TOWN, which don't have the branding restrictions of the Dollpa. (In case you didn't know, most Volks events are restricted to Volks brand dolls only, i.e., you can't bring a LUTS Delf into a Volks store.)

I have a question regarding the Volks International doll lottery. When one is interested in entering for two different dolls do you put both of them on the same entry or do you enter for them separately? I'm thinking the later since there is no combined shipping but just want to double check before doing so.

According to the DD forum, it seems as though emails have gotten sent out at about 2:30 AM EST for previous Volks lotteries. So it could be in an hour!!!

 

That sounds about right by my (limited) experience. Last time I entered the DD emails went out first also.

 

it seems like this time round, the result will be sent over a span of 3 days? From 22 Jan - 24 Jan. I shall wait till 24th T_T
