I rescued my pretty boy this morning after paying ransom (sigh). I don't like his faceup, his eyebrows look sort of blurry or smudged in pictures, but besides that I'M IN LOVE!! (and I think Dáli too lol)

Siruveru Ransom? That was what I was worried might happen. They usually treat the package very well after payment. Don't know about the customs in Spain, Canada customs can be punishing.

I have the same opinion as you regarding the eye brows, I also dislike the blurry style as it makes the brows look thick and smudged. They used the same style for Prince Claude. I like that he has clear double eye lids and I definitely like his lips and overall expression.

 

Hi Captainkyo, Don't give up yet, sometimes Volks emails get caught up in SPAM filters. So if you entered through Volks International, you can log into their website and check your order status. If you entered through Volks USA, you should've received an email from them confirming your entry with a link you can click to check your order status. If you entered through Debra, check with her because her emails definately went out a couple of weeks ago. Good luck to you!

So this is the first time I've done the international lottery.. My status says "lottery" does that mean a win or loss or something else?

 

When it says Lottery then you didn't win, I am sorry. It is supposed to show "ordered" and a link to a payment page.

The payment deadline isn't until Friday night JST, so I'd expect to start seeing a banner for it after that, maybe.

I wiped my Ryoma's faceup today. I will take some pictures tomorrow with daylight, the head looks really different without the meh stock faceup. I love him!

I hope Midori and others found Azuna, was a surprise to see her suddenly withdrawn from the Volks USA lottery list.

I got Ryoma Sakamoto from the Volks USA lottery, does anyone have any rough estimate of when I can expect to see him? The lottery announcements only said sometime in August. I remembered Little Isao arrived sooner than anticipated. Do you think this will be the case for Ryoma? Due to unforseen circumstances, I might have to move house in early August instead of early September. I am very worried Sakamoto might arrive in August and I have moved. I must at least have to make arrangements to ensure I collect him when he comes. It's messy. Constant moving is the main reason why I cannot acquire big dolls.

 

stargazer_i, you better write about it to VolksUSA directly, maybe they can do something about it. I know they can hold it longer and ship when it's more suitable for you. Not sure about changing shipping address, but since you are moving, this question is better to discuss with them. Congrats on your Ryoma btw! ^^

meeve Piccolo is a lovely boy. He looks shy. Thanks for sharing. You know in Singapore, some people with the word "loong" meaning dragon in their names change their name after converting to Christianity. Others don't mind the name, but some do. I am not able to keep Sakamoto because Ryoma translates to dragon-horse. I hope to keep him for a while but will one day have to find him a new home. Politically, and ideologically, Sakamoto fits into the storyline of my boys' team (Ishin Patriots).

 

I can't wait to see my Ryoma! He's back home waiting for me with a friend and I fly back this Friday, whee~

stargazer_i The thing is, in many Asian countries dragons are seen as symbols of good luck, fortune and power; not beasts of destruction as commonly portrayed in Western mythology. It's pretty common for boys to have the character for dragon in their name -- the Prime Minister of Singapore is named Lee Hsien Loong (李顯龍 in traditional Chinese characters), and I know a few friends with the character who are Christian or Catholic too yet have no intention of changing their name! :3 Perhaps you could rename your Ryoma?

Edit: I believe this is the myth that Ryoma's name is derived from.

 

Congrats on getting him too, Rainwaltz! I can't wait to see you photograph him... :3 I, too, am Christian, but not in the least troubled by the "dragon" in their names. And both Ryoma and Ryo have changed names in my house. ^^

 

Thanks for logical words, it's reassuring to hear from other Christians. I am thinking of an exchange of Ryoma for Hasekura. When I was young, my first church in Singapore ordered the destruction of all things dragon. Subsequently, other churches I attended told me the dragon is not evil, the interpretation is specific to certain churches. The church in Canada was shocked that American missionaries in Asia brand the dragon evil. It's not possible for Asian Christians to destroy all things dragon because that is like destroying the culture, misunderstanding can result. However, because I grew up believing the dragon is evil, I should avoid it if I feel uneasy.

I will have to rename Ryoma if I keep him. I should have adopted Hasekura. Reisner is British and Christian. He accompanied me to church and after service, I almost heard him say that I should apologize to this forum for implying that the dragon is evil. There is nothing wrong with Ryoma's name. There's a clash of cultures.

rainwaltz, you are in Melbourne/Singapore, two very meaningful places for me.

 

I got my Ryoma just a few minutes before, he is so handsome and all his outfit is very special and great quality like every Volks. But I already have problems dressing him. There is small white cushion and an elastic white ribbon - and I have just no idea what to do with this. I only know it should be worn under all his clothes. Can anyone help me with a hint, please?

 

I don't know if I am correct, but here is the order I use to put the outfit on him :
1. Put on the brown under garment, then secure it just below the waist with the white ribbon.
2. Put on the white cushion on top of the ribbon, and secure it at the front. It is called waist adjustment pillow. I do not know why they call it that!
3. Put on the black kimono, secure it with another white ribbon, or use the black pad, secure the black pad at the back. The buttons must be on the back.
4. Put on his hakama, secure the back area to the black pad using the buttons. Tie the 3 waist plaits securely, and you're done.

Thank you, Fransyung, this helps a lot! I will dress him when I come back home this evening after work. It's so funny, all the kimono and hakama outfits always look so simple, but still there is always one of the items which I never know how to use it the right way... I remember when I got Date Masamune, and there was this long white cloth, this was also worn below all other clothes around his waist.

 

Fran, Thanks for posting these dressing instructions! I'm printing them out so I'll have them when my "Romeo Saki" arrives...though that smirk of his tells me he might really not have clothing on his mind at all!

You are welcome, Julie! Do not tie the white cushion after the black kimono because it is going to show. XD It has to be put on between the brown undergarment and the black kimono. I found out from a friend today that it is used in the old days to create a space between the garments and the body parts (below the waistline, legs included), so they can move more freely.

 

Yay! News for those who waiting dolls. I accidentally found out today that VolksUSA will ship dolls from this Dolpa next week! ^^

 

WLD contacted me today as well. They said the dolls will be in stock and ready to ship next week.

 

My Ryoma arrived yesterday, and is settling in nicely...

 

I can't wait to see them come home... My boy has been lonely, there aren't a lot of Ryomas around! ^^
