Volks Dolpa 29 - April 28, 2013

Glad to hear Volks News 53 will be releasing soon. Can't wait to see what new dolls Volks will be releasing this time as well as seeing a clearer picture of Asuna!

 

Make my Golden Week wishes come true, Volks. Let this be the SD17 Tsukasa Konoe Dolpa at last.

I've never seen SAO, so I'll pass on Asuna. Seems like she'll have a lot of competition, so good luck to whoever enters for her!

Does it say the guidebook will be available on April 3rd?

Yay!!! It's at the start of Golden Week and I have no holiday plans, so I could actually go! I really, really want to experience my first Dolpa... so if they release any cute midi or sdgr girls (and I find out before plane tickets are too high..) I'm going to have to go. I'd love a lolita girl or maybe something new in the Maiden's Promise line

 

By the way, anyone else expecting pirates for this..?
Since Volks has been spamming their twitter with Oath of silver coin for the last few months since it's the 10th anniversary, I can't help but to think they'll totally slam us in the face with their piratey goodness at one of the tokyo dolpas...

Oh no I'm too excited for this! Aaaah makes me so happy yet sad every time there's a Dolpa because I can never buy their dolls. Too expensive. Hopefully that will change this time around or hopefully the next one they have!
Do you think they're going to do anything special for 30?

I let the Osaka Dolpa go by but I'm definitely entering this one. D': If they make Sakamoto available in the US... >3<

Aside from SD16 Megu, I really love this SD16 mold. She is beautiful. But I think I like the SD17 Ryoma better. I literally fell for that smirk.

Oof, Sakamoto is awesome! I'll have to see if we're in Tokyo during the after event. It would be horribly tempting to try for him while we're there!

I want to see more of Sakamoto! His face looks like I'd love it... but I can't tell yet. Ugh here I am trying to find some of my dream dolls and Volks has to have another Dolpa to ruin my plans.

St. James... I was invited to visit Japan with a friend and I declined. If I go, I doubt I could win, so I'm rather glad I declined, so I can use the money to win the dolls instead. XD I hope you can go, though. Take a lot of pictures!!!

 

OMG that smirk is killing me! Sakamoto...sock it to me baby! I hear JennyN giggling in my virtual ear saying "This is how giant resin men take over your life" I should look away now...keep reminding myself that any day now I'll have my hands full of sexy Beast "Vincent"...but my "Joe-Anjin" is stretched out next to me and our conversation is going something like this:

Joe: "I'd like to try and knock the smirk off that dude!"

There look to be a lot of great things this Dolpa, and I think Ryoma is rather handsome! I don't think I'll be trying for him though, but I probably won't be able to say the same for some of the cute outfits being offered. X3

And Ryo makes me think of a grown up Luna, probably the chin and mouth xD but she is gorgeous too~ I love her hands lol.

I was wondering, i know for DD's it is usually the head that is more expensive than the body (if its not one of the standard models) is this the same for regular volks dolls? (not standard model) or does it depend on the body its being compared to?

Volks Int. does accept Paypal. They do charge extra fees (called handling fees) if you pay by Paypal. No fees if you're paying by credit card.

 

Volks Intl you pay in Yen right? or do they give you the price in USD?

 

It depends on the body type and the head sculpt, also depends on quantity vs demand. For example, both Creamy Mami and Lorina are SDGr girls in normal skin. But Mami's head is not as rare as Lorina's head. So the price of Lorina's head is much higher, while the body of both girls remain the same (price-wise).

I tried paying with Paypal the last time I won a DD through Volks International... >.> The Paypal option was there, but everytime I clicked on LOGIN it brought me back to my cart... so I guess PP is unuseable.

It's a good thing that in the end I don't like Asuna's face, she just doesn't look like Asuna to me at all. Ryoma looks gorgeous though so I may just have to try for him.

 

Ryoma really looks like a modified version of Claude the prince.

 

Maybe it's just me but Ryoma reminds me a lot of Spike from Cowboy Bebop? Maybe it's the smirk and the pose? Both are very cool but I must resist ...

 

I saw a real historical photo of Ryoma's wife Ryo, a very beautiful lady. They might have tried to sculpt her face on the doll version.

I won't have the money for Sakamoto if I get Reisner. However, it's anybody's guess if I can get him. If I fail, I won't be getting Reisner from the secondary market because his secondary market price will sky rocket.

I read Sakamoto's role in history on Wikipedia. My resin boys' team is Imperialist. Sakamoto is a comrade. F38 Himura will love him. They can practice sword together! I remembered when Hijikata was released, my resin team was scheming to take his body minus his head and then sell off his clothes. Fortunately, he was not caught by us. My resin gang is political, pro reformist and pro West.

Tan boys were $1700 so I doubt they'd mark him up $400 over the actual current exchange rate. Still painful, but it's not really the fault of Volks, it's our crappy US dollars.

 

Oh, that's because I noticed that Claude the Beast was only 136,500jpy and VolksUSA is charging him $1788 at IDEX. So I just scaled it up a bit since Ryoma is more expensive. Anyways I'm expecting him to be $1800~1900 unless VolksUSA decides to be kinder to us. It could also be that IDEX dolls are priced differently. (say, that $2310 SD17 Reisner...)

But given the recent price adjustments, it does make it more desirable to enter the AE or even scout out Y!J instead of entering the VolksUSA lottery, no?
