I will never use UPS to ship a doll from Volks again!!
I am away on vacation and I had called once I got the notice to make sure that Daria would not be returned before I could pick her up. Since she is signature required she should of been held at the UPS store for 5 days after three delivery attempts. I could not put her on hold till after the first attempt and did not want to bother Volks for them to put her on hold before that attempt.

I check Monday to see that she HAS been delivered and that the site says I signed for it! I was hundreds of miles away!

Frantic attempts through a friend to contact my apartment complex this morning and it turns out that UPS FORGED my name and left her at my door!! My complex is safe, but there are some not so upstanding places near me and no where is it wise to leave a large package obviously on the steps! My apartment is across from the office and I know it was open when she was delivered and the UPS man couldn't even put in the effort to walk over and leave her there instead he forges my signature! And leaves my large boxed, expensive, limited Daria on the stoop!!

She is safe at my apartment office now but I will have words with UPS tomorrow.
Even though it's more expensive, I will ship USPS from now on with Volks. It was so nerve wrecking to not know where the doll was or if I'd ever see her..

 

Bird of Hermes I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I can imagine the feeling in the pit of your stomach. I go through that EVERY time with my USPS mail carrier who see's my car in the driveway but knocks once (ever so softly) and leaves. It is very frustrating indeed. Anyway, I am glad it all worked out in the end and you will be united with Daria soon!!!!

 

That's outrageous, Bird of Hermes. I'm glad someone was able to go get her and keep her safe for you.

I don't use UPS because of their ridiculous brokerage fees, but that's far worse!

Has anyone heard from Debra at We Love Dolls about paying their balance on DP24 dolls? I have a friend who won her Williams there but who hasn't yet been contacted to pay the rest. Thanks!

 

Thank you everyone! I've started the complaint process with them. But as I'm still on vacation visiting my family it's hard to find the time to do so. Hopefully I can work it out to make sure this doesn't happen in my area again

Bird of Hermes, that is awful! I'm so sorry. I haven't gotten a doll from the Volks USA shop yet, and my girl won't ship until April. Do they let you choose which shipping method they use?

 

When I entered the lottery for Williams, I was able to choose USPS in the shopping cart section.

snowgray: check your order confirmation email you got when you ordered her... it does state which shipping method you choose...

 

always use usps...ups tossed one of my first dolls (megu) over my fence...anyone could have kidnapped her...our postal service is pretty great compared to other countries....

 

Tian Pien, thank you! Apparently I did pick UPS. Usually I use USPS, too: we live in a condo building, and the UPS guy just goes into the building through the store downstairs and leaves packages in front of your door. It's better than leaving them in the vestibule, but still... USPS holds all of my packages, and then I pick them up all safe and sound! Oh well.

 

They just recently started letting a person pick (this dolpa was the first I believe)- I made the mistake of still picking UPS because of the money saved mostly- and because they had been reliable in the past with signature confirmations in another area.

I'm so sorry to hear that other people have had such a problem with UPS also! Really is ridiculous thievery to pay for something and not get the service. I've had minor issues with my USPS- but never something parcel endangering thankfully! At least if they're 'lazy' they just don't even try my door and I'm left waiting a day and driving to the post office. I'd much rather have that then abandoned packages with forged signatures though! And the people at the post office are awfully sweet in my area.

I'll definitely be hoping that everyone else precious darlings make it home safely- especially the drunken pirates! lol

 

Shipping Update: Hubby and I manged to get everyone packed except for Williams. Shop super busy today and it's so time consuming to pack such large and heavy dolls. Williams will ship next Wednesday, we are closed Sun & Mon and will need Tues to complete packing. All other dolls packed & ready to go tomorrow to all who paid in full. I have a couple of hours work printing packing slips and collecting money so please bare with me. Thanks!

After much ado my Daria finally comes home! The UPS man crunched the one corner of the box, but thankfully otherwise safe and just perfect!
I've posted pictures for anyone who want's to see a Daria in a different wig. She's stealing one of my boy's wigs since I can't really get synthetics on with one thumb immobilized but she turned out pretty cute in it!

 

Did anybody notice that the Yo's have a wider range of mobility and locking joints in the arms ankles and waist?
It's really adorable I just managed to put Tanpopo into a fetal postion... I'll need to take pictures when her first official outfit is complete.

 

I noticed it too! I was surprised to see the joint locking notches in the shoulder joint. Are there locking joints in the ankles and wrists too?

 

Yes, I was confused at first, and then upon closer inspection I began to notice that she was a tad bit more poseable than my Puff.
I have to say, I'm really liking it!
There's locking joints in the ankles, not the wrists though, but the wrists have always had a wide range of motion anyways, it seems like maybe it's got an even wider range of motion now.
I'll do comparison pictures with my Puff in the morning.

 

I really want to play with one of these new bodies! It's great to see Volks continue to improve on posing in their bodies but I'm shocked they didn't make news of it! Thankfully I plan to get more Yos so will see one eventually!
I can't wait to see pics once you take one!

My Williams is set to arrive on the 25th. But I am freaking out a little. I have had two packages returned for “no such address exists”. WHAT?!?! Ummm, I do live in my own house, so I know it exists…I feel like I am in the Bermuda Triangle of Suburbia. Has this happened to anyone else? I am going to the Post Office tomorrow to get this figured out.

My Williams came home from Kerbey Lane, but sadly he has 2 broken fingers on his left hand I emailed Rochelle, so hopefully she can get a hold of Volks soon and help him with his boo-boo

Spiralaqua, a few years back one of my boys (I think it was Reisner) arrived with broken fingers. I notified the dealer and Volks took care of it right away. I sent them the broken hand, and they replaced it. It didn't take too long either, maybe a few weeks.

 

I saw a Daria for sale on the We Love Dolls website . They probably had a cancellation. It was still available this morning.

Seconding that Volks replaces parts quite quickly. My Okita Souji 2.0 had a broken hand from VolksUSA and my DD Makinami Mari Illustrious arrived with her glasses broken from WLD. Both times I took pictures, send the part off and had a replacement and a postal money order for my shipping back in short order.
