Volks Dolls Party 24

Oct 29, 2010

1. Congrats, Merangel!! That was so sweet! :)

2. Aww, I am so happy for you!!! Your husband sounds amazing!!! Congratulations!!!!

3. "Add to Cart." A new way to say "I love you."

Haha! I had a similar experience while I was looking at wigs one day. My BF sees me staring at this one on DoA, and says "You should buy that one." He also likes long hair, which I'm sure also was taken into account. But he's usually very strict with how I spend!

4. These stories are too funny and sweet...my hubby was going to be annoyed if I hadn't won Williams because he was so sick of hearing me pining after him for so many years:lol: He knew he'd never hear the end of it so it was more of a relief for him that I finally won:)

5. Thanks everyone <3

I hope more people post box openings when their dolls start to arrive. I can eat out of the Daria eye candy box every day!

6. I'm so glad my box opening helped you in deciding to go for Daria!

And your hubby is really sweet! :)

7. I got my Williams 2 days ago but I was too busy with work so I couldn't play with him :(

here's a quick shot of him^^
[IMG]

He's really handsome in real live:aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea I can't believe he's finally home and in my arms X3 (when I saw fransyung and Jo77 opening box threads I was saying to my self how lucky they are to own double Williams but suddenly I remembered that I own one so I ran off to his box like mad women then I hugged him soo tightly while saying: you are MINE~~ crazy fangirl:doh)

My only problem with him now is how to remove his glued eyes T_T as it's my first time owning a brand new volks doll^^;

8. Omg omg omg!!!!!!!

9. Hair dryer + pliers/tweezers is the key. Take of the head cap (easier if you can take off the whole head) and heat it with the hair drier. Then proceed to go at it with the pliers/tweezers. It will be a process as you pic off the outer warm layer and have to heat further down. Eventually likely the whole eye and hot glue will come out and you can work to separate it. Good luck!

And congrats on your handsome boy being home!

10. Oh look at the dream boat, congrats to you on the arrival of your new boy shoujo!

11. I've tried about everything to get hot glued eyes in Volks dolls out but the tutorial on the Volks USA site is seriously the BEST and most complete and easy way to get it out. I seriously wanted to smack myself in the face several times after I tried this method because it's so easy compared to other not so simple ways I've tried.

http://site.volksusa.com/sumikatimes/2009/07/24/come-unglued/

12. I boil a pot of water and heat my 1920's metal cuticle pusher in it. If you don't have a well manicured granny to borrow from, then I suppose any small metal blade (not sharp) or standard screwdriver would be a good substitute.

When the metal is hot, just pry a little at the glue and it comes away easily and with no chemicals.

13. That is a great idea Merangel, what a great tip!

14. I like putting heads in the freezer. I left my Chika there for about 5 - 10 minutes, then chipped the glue away with a butterknife. Incase you don't have thinner or anything!

15. I use hairdryer and it works fine everytime~ ^^ Congrats, shoujo! I can't believe you just forgot about him! XDDDD

16. fransyung I'm sure she really was busy and definitely has not forgot about this gorgeous boy, no way, no how!

17. problem with using any kind of heat, like a hair dryer, you have to worry about frying the eyelashes.

thinner and the tool is the easiest way.. and the freezer is also a good option, however be careful as the knife can nick the resin

18. Ah, shoujo, he's amazing!

I second the Volks method of hot glue removal, although I don't have the proper tool. It's worked better than anything I've done before, which usually I ended up cheating on -- i.e., just clearing out enough to get eyes in and out :sweat.

ETA: I just typed "Willions" instead of "Williams" on another thread. I think my incoming boy just done got himself a new nickname . . .

19. I have no idea how to ask this without feeling/sounding
stupid but is there any other store that might have Daria
for sale (other than Volksusa..) and also has layaway?

20. I honestly don't know, but maybe Kerbey Lane or We Love Dolls? Do they do layaways, does anyone know?

21. Thanks guys:chocoheart

Thank you all for the great tips:D I'll try it when I go home

Actually I forgot lol it's because I still don't believe that I got him specially after what he went through while trying to bringing him home (a lot of stories with money, customs parents, and friends) and also as Roweena23 said, I was really busy with work.

here's the box opening :)

22. Shoujo I'm so happy and excited for you! Can't wait to see him in his new eyes!

Thx for all the advice on eye removal! It's really helpful! I removed my hijikata's eyes by just pulling out the eyes and the hot glue remnants are still stuck there. :(

23. It's so painful seeing her there at volksusa and not being
able to get her!!! But I guess it's just not meant to be.
Congrats to everyone who received their dolls and to all
those still waiting!

24. Kerby does- but in so much that 30% is due when you win the lotto and 70% when they arrive at Kerby. Not sure about We Love Dolls. But I believe that Kerby at least has ran through their allotted amount. You could e-mail and see Lula? But there's nothing like an extended layaway like I know of.

25. That's too funny shoujo and yes customs sounds like such a pain. Whenever I'm expecting a doll, I make sure to clean the house up before I even open the package, no idea why I have to have everything picked up like I'm expecting the queen but everything has to be perfect before taking out anyone new:lol:

26. waww...congrats melon...:D
He's stunning...can't wait to see another williams here.....

27. What a babe! I really am falling more in love with Williams' wig.

28. Congrats on his arrival~ XD Volks spam... plus one Bory... XDDDD Courtesy of me, Kirarashine, and shinka...

29. Melon congrats!!!! I luv the pic!

Fransyung they look great!! Hijikata! :)

30. Fransyung : ouchh....XDDDD. I want to laugh when see this pic.

31. Why? XDDD Spam yours, too! I think you have the photo of my kids watching me eat?

32. Fransyung : no, I don't have. XD . Vien the one who have that pic. Should I post the Great SuJu pic ?? XDDD

33. Bwahahahha okay... We haven't submitted a thread... hmm... (_ _)

34. Congrats Melon! He is beautiful!
and fransyung...what a gorgeous set of lads and lady!

35. Hi guys, I hope this isn't an odd question to ask, but I really wanted to know. ( I aked in another Volks related thread too, but more feedback is better) ^^

Does it make sense to you and is this regular with Volks dolls in the marketplace, that the Dollpa 24 Willams head that only came out last month is going for $1000+, when someone in a split could have gotten him for $500 or so? I'm just worried I've completely missed my chance and will never have my grail doll now. :( Just wanted to see opinions on if this is considered normal markup or not...

36. Williams is the most sought after limited Volks boy ever, so no, I don't think the current second-hand prices are unusual.

37. ^reaperofleaves: Usually many Volks dolls don't have such drastic markups, but Williams is a VERY popular doll. When I got my Williams a year ago after the small Kobe Cruise release, I still ended up paying roughly 1400 for his head alone which is what I see him now on the market place.

Unfortunately if there is still a huge demand for Williams [which there probably will be given his popularity] people will pay high marked up prices. If the demand goes down, and everyone that wanted a Williams has one there may be a chance that the price could go down, but we don't know because the dolls people are waiting on from the US lotto have not arrived. To be perfectly honest though, I have high doubts with his high demand that Williams will sit in the marketplace. ><;

Is know it seems crazy when you could have split him and got the head for $500 a month ago, but truly there's really no "fair/unfair" rule when it comes to limited dolls. n__n;; You either pay second hand price if you want it or not. My best advice is to just watch the marketplace, and wait for the influx of Williams that will be delivered in March. Maybe with the larger number coming in you will find one for a good deal, [but as St. James said his market price is always high] so a good deal probably won't be at $500.

38. Yeah, there may be a few more Williams heads on the market again in a couple of months. Back in early 2007, my GF and I paid $650 for his head on Y!J and considered ourselves lucky, and that was from his first release...which was well before his popularity exploded!

39. From what I can see... Williams heads can't go lower than $700. X3
It's better to get the fullset... or better yet, join the lottery and get him at the base price.

40. Alright, yeah, that does make sense. It's of course in that people are willing to pay it that the prices are so high. I'm just kicking myself for ignoring the lottery since it was Christmas (what bad timing!) and they're unlikely to re-release him again, at least not for a long while. I'll have to wait and maybe when I graduate Uni he'll be my present to myself :) Or maybe stalk Y!J.

41. Oh its so hard to buy some doll hehe

42. congrats on everyone's new arrivals!!! I'm getting really excited to see the Williams arrivals especially hehehe :D

fransyung there is so much eye candy!!! So many beautiful boys (and girl ^^) and my dream boy Hijikata is in there!!

43. XD Thank you! That Hijikata belongs to Shinka...

44. It's almost time for the Dolpa24 dolls to come in. Who else is starting to get that pre-shipping bounce in their step? :D

45. WooHoo~ XDDD We'll see a fresh swarms of dolls soon then!!

46. oh oh me! I'm practically stalking my inbox for the shipping notice already, :XD:

47. I'm sadly expecting no notice till late March- buuuuuut here's hoping it sooner!

48. I hope it's not that late!!! *_* I thought (and hoping) that notices were to be going out in early March.

49. KL was in contact on the 17th for payment of the balance for my Wills, and with the DP24 regular items showing up for release on 3/5, I'm betting the dolls will ship around then as well. :D

50. Well, I was more thinking back to my Souji Okita who was supposed to ship May and shipped then past mid May (17th to be exact)- tack on the few days to ship and you're in late May. Just going off that experience I was always assuming late March for Daria actually being home. March just means March- Volks is still valid shipping anytime in March.

But InvisibleWings makes a great point- we can assume the regular items came over on the same boat as the dolls- and last time I ordered a regular item it shipped two days after I ordered. So- we can assume that the dolls are there (or very shortly so) and it will just depend on how quickly Volks can organize it all! It is a great deal of merchandise to sort and label.

If they could ship out this week or start of next I would be ecstatic since then I wont miss my Daria when I'm gone for spring break. I'm not sure if ups will even hold a package like that! Hopefully so if need be.

51. Argh, I'm trying not to think about my Williams' impending arrival (and failing miserably). I'm totally psyched! My birthday is March 13th, so he's like the ultimate B-day present. :D And then there's Ayumu, of course. Poor boy, he's like the afterthought. >_< I'll have to give him lots o'love to make up for it.

52. :) I've been scanning the internet, looking for pictures of Daria to psych myself up. I ordered her with the Satogaeri sanding service. How much longer does that usually take? A month?

53. Happy upcoming b-day Genesblues (my sister's b-day is the 13th as well). I am dying here while waiting for my Williams!!

54. Heh, I see I'm not the only one who started making predictions when I saw that the DP24 clothes were about to go on sale. It occurs to me that it's appropriate to have a bunch of Williamses on long sea voyages :sweat. But they might even be on dry land by now!:dance

55. I'm telling you, they spent the entire trip drinking and left Daria, ALNA, Ayumu and Tanpopo to do all the work. :XD:

56. Heh heh - I can just see the box opening-

ME: And here he is everyone! He's so gorgeo-huh. Why does he smell like vodka?

Wiliiams: *winces at lighting* ...Wake me up some time next week. *climbs back in box*

57. lol- I don't know- I think my Daria would of been right there drinking with the Williams, ruining her good fur and sitting in laps. She'd be sure to find the Willams with the good alcohol though! She doesn't really do work if she can help it- she thinks herself too proper a lady for that!

58. Yes, normally about a month longer.

I think the people who ordered from VolksUSA will be able to expect their dolls in the first or second week of March, where as I think the people like me who ordered from dealers (Kerbey Lane for me) should be expecting more of mid to late March. That's how it has always been for me judging from all my past calculations, it almost always lines up exactly for the same amount of waiting time. I think in all the time I've ordered from Volks like this, it has only ever been two days at most difference between the amount of time I waited for all the dolls when I actually counted down the days.

59. Ditto! I am really hoping they come home around our birthdays :D (My birthday is also March 13 lol~ *high five for b'day buddy*) I think that it's possible that the dolls are coming on the same boat as the items, but since I ordered from KL, he'll be coming at least 2 weeks after the ones from VolksUSA--aka 1 week to get to KL and then they need to organize and then more time to get to me from them.
