Yor Forger has been going through Towa's old outfits... nyan nyan.

Yor's wearing a Cotindoll wig and Uzuki has a very cheap AliExpress wig. The AliExpress wig is beaten up after a lot of wearing and outdoor photoshoots but when it was new it was sensational.

If anyone is sitting on the fence, Yor Forger is a spectacular Dollfie. Her semi-white vinyl looks amazing. I'm also glad they made a her a Dynamite as it seemed like this line was dying out (except for Towa and the occasional special).

I haven't put Yor in her default outfit yet because we had a nasty nasty incident with some black pleather that stained another girl really bad. Fortunately acne creme and a LOT of heat fixed the issue, but I'm still wary.

As for boys, I so badly want to turn Kaito into Loid Forger.

 

I love your style for them~! I skipped on Yor because I am waiting for Volks SD Ariel but I am slightly regretting missing out!

Yesterday I was looking through the list of old collaboration models and a couple really caught my eye. This morning while looking at the ending soon auctions on Yahoo Japan I found one was actually available.

All being well the latest member of our Dollfie family will be Erica Fontaine. Does anybody have her? I'm still undecided about her face, but I think her outfit is totally kick ass awesome. I'm trying to get some sort of similar look for my DDdy Towa, but haven't yet found the right outfit.

Anyway, I think I got Erica for a decent price. It's kind of difficult to know given she doesn't come up for sale that often. She can be besties with Kirika, my other less well known limited release Dollfie.

 

Congrats on finding your doll, @Xiongmao! I'm still new to Dollfies, so I had to look her up. What a cool looking girl!

Its a bit late for Valentine's day, but Miku's Mikuzukin outfit came home a bit ago. I'm so in love with how cute she is in it!

Anyone like the manga/anime ARIA here? I find this DD release of Ciel reminds me of Aika from ARIA so much that I'm tempted to customize her into Aika if I can get one

 

I just made my final payment for Kaito. The shipping I schedule for late May. I’m so EXCITED!!!!

 

I've also got Kaito coming. He'll be my first boy doll so you don't need me to tell you all how excited my many girl dolls will be about his arrival. There could be much doll drama in the months ahead.

I've also bought Shin Sato and Ciel. I just got them from YJA Dolpa resellers because I honestly cannot be bothered with the clickwars again. There was a markup of course, but their prices weren't bad. It can be quite difficult to find the limited releases afterwards. Yor Forger is still pretty rare.

I might make Ciel into Violet Evergarden. Shin Sato was my slight favourite as I love smiley DD. I love Ciel's outfit, and I also picked up her other outfit. Thankfully it wasn't selling for a crazy markup.

As for my existing DD, here's my Big Dango Family (Uzuki left, Rin right). Clannad is well worth watching, and all the better if your dolls have the outfits from the shows you're watching together.

 

I think I've confused myself looking at the Volks international site. What are the differences between the DD-f3 frame and the dolls without a frame specified? I don't know much about Vinyl...

 

Which dolls are you interested in? The DD-f3 is the newest frame but it's possible they have some older models in stock using the DD III frame. Anything from the last few years would be on DD-f3 though.

 

I'm interested in Mirai and Miko! Mirai has the dd-f3 frame but Miko doesn't have a frame type listed.

Miko is a discontinued standard model that was never updated to f3, so the stock of her that’s left will be on the older frame (DDIII). There’s nothing wrong with that frame, but keep in mind that f3 frame parts aren’t compatible and DDIII frame parts aren’t sold anymore.

 

I finally got my shipping notification for DD boy Kaito. I’m so excited!!!! I finally will have a DD boy

 

@MrFjmg2003 congratulations on your Kaito being shipped! I just got my first DD boy too (secondhand Len). I’m seriously thinking I will need another guy someday as I just love Volks vinyl dolls so much. Please share pics of your gorgeous guy!

 

Have any U.S. buyers of Kaito been charged import fees? I'm purchasing a Kaito directly from someone who can't keep him. Neither of us has ever had import fees on Volks shipments from Japan before. Thanks for any input.

The carrier is DHL.

To the best of my knowledge, there will be no import fees. Dolls and children's toys are exempt from import fees in the US.

edit: Ugh, I have been informed that DHL will sometimes attempt to charge import fees on its own, even though the US itself holds dolls to be exempt. Apparently this usually only hits really expensive packages, though, so a DD on his own should be okay; if he is being shipped with other clothes and shoes, though, he might be expensive enough to trigger them.

If DHL does try to surcharge someone in the US for a DD with no add-ons, please let me know; I feel like I should know this.

 

Gallye, there have already been import fees assigned to the shipment by DHL. They had to be paid for the shipment to be released, or DHL would have sent him back in 4 days. :-( I am curious who gave you the information. Kaito is a full set, so for a DD, he is on the expensive side.

Edit: After chatting with my seller and looking on the DHL website, it's looking more like a fuel surcharge than anything else. We're just wondering why not every DHL shipment gets it.

Ahh, noted. I was referring to actual US Customs fees, which have nothing to do with DHL surcharges.

I am reading about DHL fees on DollDreaming (the vinyl doll forum) and they say that the fee is supposed to only hit packages worth more than US$2k, which is a lot more than Kaito costs. (There is also some talk about scammers pretending to be DHL, but that doesn't sound like it's applicable here!) So now I'm really confused. Is your seller in a remote area of the US?

Nope, they're not remote, they're near a major highway. But they're going to try to contact DHL to ask about it. We sure are curious!

I got a message on my phone last month saying I owed import fees on a package in the UPS system. The problem was I had nothing ordered, so I knew it was a scam. Be careful.

 

I recently ordered a DD from Mandarake (May 15) and used DHL and no fees were issued. The package was just over 1k, so well below the 2k limit. I’m wondering if the package I got didn’t get a fuel surcharge because it was shipped from a business that has a contract with DHL, and the surcharge was added on at purchase? I’m just wondering if the surcharge is because your seller is a private individual and not a business, so DHL is trying to get some extra money. I’ve had this happen with FedEx.

 

To clarify, it is Volks shipping the package via DHL to the person (in the US) I'm buying it from. There's no scam, unless it's incorrect import fees being charged by DHL. I trust my seller, they're an established vendor, and they're local to me too. Thanks, all.

@galatia9 I'm not Kurogane, but I know it's dollars. That's generally the total you need to hit as a US resident before you start seeing possible import charges on things like toys/dolls.

 

@galatia9 Cloudedmind is correct, it’s the dollar amount allowed without import taxes in the US. Sorry I didn’t make that clear. I’ve never had a package at that price and was kind of sweating when it got to customs as you just never know, but thankfully it went through just fine.

 

My Kaito was delivered on Monday! He's my first DD and I'm really enjoying how lightweight and poseable he is!

Hi! First time posting a thread besides introduction. I just manage to get my hands on a secondhand Volks DD Miku, however, the only thing she comes with (besides the body) is her wig. I was wondering where I could purchase some accessories for her. I've been looking on some sites like Mandarake but its currently out of stock! Are there any other places I could get second-hand doll clothes/accessories?

 

Have you tried Dollyteria? I swear I saw Miku's wig there. If not, I'm sure there's plenty of artists and creators who would happily make you a custom Miku wig.

Hello all! Everyone's Kaito's look so cute! I love his peace hands and sweet smile.

I don't have a complete DD but I do have a head that I've hybridized with a Volks SD13 body. One question I have is, what is the best/easiest way to put eyes and eye putty in a DD head? The squishiness is something I haven't gotten used to yet and how the eyewells are in the DDH06 head. Very different from the resin I'm used to. Any help appreciated!

I've found that silicone ear plugs work really well to keep DD eyes in. You have to put the putty in a ring around the front of the eye, rather than covering it from the back like resin dolls.

I'll try putting the putty around the front of the eyes, and hopefully that'll help. Guess I need to go get some silicone ear plugs, I've heard good things about them so this is my sign to finally get some.

 

The Dream Fitter is somewhat controversial - some people just don't like it, some people have had older Dream Fitters get stiff and malformed - but I personally love them and have had nothing but good luck with them. You can fold the big sponge in half and stuff it in there and it more or less fills the head, with two little dips to hold the eyes in place. You can even get a silly little rubber-tipped stick which can be used to shift the eyes back and forth without having to open the head or remove the putty, too, which is nice for changing the doll's line of sight.

I found this to be way easier than filling those deep DD eyewells with putty. So much putty!

 

That is the coolest thing EVER!!!

Tried stain removal for the first time with 10% benzoyl peroxide acne cream and it worked like a charm. I feel so relieved- for some reason I always expected it to be a complex or tedious process. Only half a day for the stain to get sucked right out of the vinyl.

@Evaporatinggoose Have you tried Japanese Mercari or Yahoo Japan Auctions? I see fullset parts like that around there pretty often.

@Aiko-chan Just mentioning that you might want to keep an eye (heh) on the silicone plugs. I've used them before on DD heads and they left a strange grease-y mark despite being brand new.

 

Thank you for the heads up @rainglow ! I've had the ear plugs in for about a week, so I checked inside. So far it's good, but I'll definitely keep watch on it.

I actually made some eyes to accomplish the manga-esque look I'm going for, and the silicone works great to hold them in place. I'm still experimenting but being able to swap the eyes out easier is a huge plus.

I pre ordered Kagamine Rin from Volks USA, so mine won't be here for a bit longer, but all the owner photos on FB have me excited! I am seeing people mention that their stock wig is kinda "fried"? Does anyone with Rin or Len have thoughts?

I'm still learning about Dollfies and their care since Miku is my only one, so I have questions.
What is the difference between Volks oil spray, wig mist and treatment mist? I love Miku's twintails, but they are a pain to deal with, plus I'd like to figure out how to keep the curls that are often at the ends of her twintails curled.

I’m waiting on a tan boy right now, a DCH-07, so until he gets here I’m posting my two girls.

The long haired girl on the left is Yushimi, she’s a Beatrice. The one on the right is Tryphena, a DCH-22 on a DDS body ☺️

We’re so excited to welcome him home!

 

I'm most likely going to get a Sheryl as my first dollfie and hunt down those wigs, and get a peach pai plus bust for her, my main question is would the peach pai plus bust fit on a DDIII body, or should I just plan on getting her a dynamite body? If I do get said body, should I just wait for the new motion line body or would the f3 be sufficient?
