Thank you kirei, Eventually I will be changing her into casual clothing. I have another DD and a SmD so lots of clothing choices. It took the better part of an hour to get that incredibly complex outfit on her so she'll be wearing it through the holidays before I try putting something different on her.

I bought sheryl nome off of Mandarake a couple days ago. I’m really excited, she’s my first Dollfie Dream!!

 

I have a friend who has DDS dolls. The SD13 girl clothes are a hit and miss. I know the hoodies and shirts fit somewhat well but for the pants I think she uses male pants but they don't look well around the waist (too baggy ) and are long so she fixes them . When I visit her again I will look at her collection and ask her for more details about the clothes. I think she is in the dollfie dream forum.

 

Been a while since I've put anything up on DoA. Just got my first DD - Kagamine Len. I'd love for some suggestions on how to dress him... with him being male... most of the DD stuff won't fit and he's much slimmer than my other SD-sized boy.

 

@amberhawk i just got len too !!! very excited ! i’ve also been wondering what clothes will fit. because not only is he a boy dd, he’s a dds boy!

Are you sure there are more than one? I think last time they did this event there was only one of each doll. It basically just mimics the One-Off event, but with D'coord girls I think.

I mean unless they changed it this time around. But I swear that's how it was last year.

 

I've been reading the past few pages of this thread and I came across some really great news and dolls. The NieR: Automata 2B and 9S are absolutely amazing. I loved KosMos but never got her. (I know these two have been for sale since October, but I just found them.) I was looking for a doll that I could make into Dante from Devil May Cry. 9S may not be Dante, but he's beautiful just as he is...... 2B is also beautifully done. (I wonder if I could convince them to make Dante.... lol.)

Time is so short and I'm really thinking about getting one or both of them. Winter delivery means March or before? Gosh, I've got make up my mind very soon on this.... (I've always loved Volks dolls.)

@oriscany when you say winter delivery are you talking about the nier collab? The delivery is planned to be in Fall 2019 according to the order sheet. It'll be a longer wait >//<

 

@oriscany i think 9s would be a great dante! he would maybe need a new/altered faceup to make him a little more mature, but it would be a great base!

the sculpts on the nier automata dolls are really special! and i don’t expect we’ll see another vinyl doll like these for a while !

@c4tbus , I love his faceup and I'm thinking he could be a young Dante, or Nero.....lol. However, Dante is my favorite.

Back to the PayPal thought. I read the propaganda on the Volks site and am not still sure why. Anyone know?

There's no problem using paypal - not in the US anyway. and the delivery is 'around winter 2019' as stated on the Volks USA site.

Both of the NieR:Automata Dollfir Dream doll are gorgeous imho. I read order sheet and I didn't notice that it was not from the Volks USA store. I really hate to put things for me on my cc this time of the year...

I got 9s and I'm thinking that 2B would be great. Time is so very short. I do love them both and with PayPal as an option I just may get her, too.

 

haha, @oriscany - I feel the same way. wishing I could add 9S. they're perfect, just like the video game characters. even the robot sidekicks are so well done.
she'll be my first DD. I'm exicted, but will have to stretch that out over 10-12 months.

I saw that a few weeks ago. pretty funny. interesting that the game might have been called "Doll." I loved playing it, but wouldn't want to go there again. hard work.

I like the brown skin DDH-09 girl and the DDP DDH-11 girl but the Claude one-off murdered my wallet forever so I won't be entering. Good luck to those who do!

 

I got out my DD and Azone girls yesterday. Both were Christmas gifts, and I haven't really played with them in a long time. I have to say they are beautiful and a lot of fun to pose.
I like the DDH-09 brown skin girl, too. I hope that someone here gets her, and shares lots of photos.

The D’Coord models are so adorable! That was so awesome of Volks to do a Holiday one-off lottery for these special DD’s. I wish those who are entering the best of luck! I will not be entering for the holiday one-offs, because I finally caved today.

With little time left I put a down payment order on both 2B and 9S! I did not want to regret missing out on these androids later on. Their head sculpts are not your typical DD. Oh man, it’s going to be a very long wait. It will be worth it though. I have plenty of resin kids to keep me company throughout the year wait. There characters may as well remain as androids since they will be my only two vinyl dolls.

I’m also interested in seeing a Dante or Nero inspired DD. Those are great character influences.

 

@Seditionary - that's how I think. Unusual heads with a bit more realism. not going to happen again any time soon. if I could possibly swing that downpayment on 9S, I would. but, Christmas....family....travel....

 

Cheers @Seditionary! I broke down and got both of the NieR:Automata kids/ androids, too. They are very unique. At first I just got 9S and the more I looked at 2B, not to mention the interview of the 4 guys, I knew I'd regret not getting her, too. The wait is a killer, but like you and @petiteballerine I've got a few resin friends to keep me company.

Now, I do think that Capcom needs to step up to the plate and work with Volks on a Dante and Nero. I adore them and the games are great. Say, does Volks have a suggestion box? I'll stuff it with Dante requests.

 

I do like 2B but she's a little frowny for my tastes so I'm sticking with 9S. I should probably actually play the game at some point too rofl. 9S just looks so sweet.

At least the pale wig won't stain him like Kirito's has. :P I had a fabric cap on but it shifted when I put the wig on I guess and some went through it... Got some stuff to try to remove the stain but oof. At least it's just where the wig already is anyway. :P

 

I worry about everything staining my dolls. @Ian-KunX, wigs are bad. Congrats on 9S, he's really a sweetheart. (Kirito is beautifully done, too.)

Yeah I was pretty much expecting it to happen what with a black wig like this lol. I wish companies would make black wigs with like... Light beige caps, at least for styles like this one where there's no chance of seeing the cap. Especially a black wig designed for a DD rofl.

Just curious, does anyone know the reliability of the shops listed on the DD Friend Shops page?

 

From what I know they are all fine to shop from. The only one I have experience as an US resident is TOM (Tokyo Otaku Mode) which is just fine. They aren't particularly amazing but they are trustworthy. Just sometimes they mess up stock, and other such things.

If you want to I think some of the shops are maybe up on MyFigureCollection, and they have a review place for any shops listed. I know for a fact TOM is there. You just gotta search them and see. Link: Shops (Page 1 of 17) | MyFigureCollection.net

Don't be surprised if some aren't up there as the rest on the list are specifically non-NA countries.

 

Hello, long time since I posted here...

Me and my friend were going to order the two Nier Automata dolls, I was going for 2B and her for 9S, we decided to wait for the last minute to preorder so we would be on the last batch, that way we would have more time to get all the funds (collecting in Brazil is HARD, 100% importing fees!).

2B is going to be my second Dollfie, I have Miku, and 9s was going to be her first, she was very excited since 9S is one of her favorite characters.

But she slept, she was working for a long time and went to rest a little but lost the time and the preorders close, she is very sad now.

I dont have much experience with Dollfies, I know that their price goes up a lot in the second hand market, but what are the chances of Volks having left overs after launch to sell on the site for the normal price?

I know Miku keep selling for a long time, but I think that was a special case becouse Volks received SO MANY pre orders that were cancelled and had Mikus to spare, but what about more normal Dolls? Do Volks usually have spares or they tend to be sold out?

 

Man, 2B and 9S were SO POPULAR. You will easily be able to get them once they start to release. Either people will pass on (editted due to confusion) their orders, leftover stock will go up in stores (potentially online too as other pre-orders have done so), and even if you have to go secondhand the chances are you won't pay really much of anything above the retail price unless you wait too long.

I would totally recommend watching the DD forum (Dollfie Dreams dot com), Facebook DD groups, and MyFigureCollection for people cancelling pre-orders. You will not see people offering up pre-orders on DoA as it is against the rules.

And as a future suggestion: Do not wait till the last minute to order the doll. If you want to be in the last batch all you had to do was order in the last week/few days. Volks doesn't really take it by the minute to fulfill orders. If you had been the last week I'm pretty sure you would have been considered apart of the last batch. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

 

Thanks for the answer, yeah we should not have waited until the last possible time, I called her a few hours before the time to remember her, and I was able to preorder 2B for me but I did not thought about calling her again at the end becouse I was sure she would make it.

I will keep an eye open and suggest to her to also make accounts on those sites, if in the end she become very unlucky and cant get one I may pass my 2B preorder to her, its not 9S but its all I can do.

 

Is it actually that common for people to cancel their preorders?
I imagined you wouldn't do that in the US since the down payment for 2B and 9S that Volks USA would keep is $200

 

I've picked up multiple dolls that were via pre-order from people cancelling. They just charge you the full amount. The deposit goes toward the doll after all.

 

I would think @whitewhale is correct. The down payment of 200USD is quite a lot to give up and get nothing in return. The buyer of the cancelled doll still has to pay full price for it. and the person cancelling the pre-order may be placed on a list and then banned from pre-orders in the future. I believe that is how Volks used to do it.

 

there's a year to wait. a lot can happen. nothing much going to be solved now. but, who knows for sure if they'll have that promised money so far in the future? best bet might be second hand market where a new doll goes up for sale pristine in box.

The $200 goes toward to the total price of the doll.

The preorders do not work like you pay $200 and then the full amount on top of that.... It is you pay the amount minus that $200 deposit you paid at the beginning.

I.e. if the DD is $800 and I pay a $200 deposit then I owe $600 + shipping.

No one loses anything. They just charge full price, shipping usually, and maybe PP fees.

 

Actually if a pre-order for 2B or 9S is cancelled, then that potential buyer looses his/her $200 deposit on one or both dolls pre-ordered. In other words, there probably may not be as many cancelled pre-orders of 2B and 9S do to this cancellation penalty policy. The pre-order deposit is kept by Volks if a buyer chooses to back out of the down payment pre-order.

So yes, cancellations will cost those who choose to back out. Perhaps not to those who get a second chance later. I only know from what I read and agreed to by committing to both my 2B and 9S pre-orders. If I choose to back out, and not pay the rest of the remaining balance, then Volks keeps my $400 deposit.

 

That's not what I'm saying? I'm saying if they don't want the doll anymore they will pass on the pre-orders. You pay the full price, they get the doll, and then they ship to you.

I'm not talking about cancelling? I know that. I was talking about people passing on pre-orders.

Edit: OH. BAD WORD CHOICE. I see how the confusion happened. I said cancel, but I meant like people not wanting them anymore and offering their preorder up. I see my thinking there though. I don't think people would just cancel and not try to pass on the doll so I simply said "cancel." Lol. Sorry about that. My B.

 

I don't think Volks would allow a payment take over on these pre-orders for these DD, but you could always email them and ask. Maybe they should state that also when they do these typer of orders in the future as well.

 

That's not what I'm suggesting. You pay them and then they pay Volks. That simple.

You basically get a middleman this way. They have the order with Volks, they don't want it so they advertise, you claim it, when it comes time you pay them to pay Volks. You have to pay double shipping (though I've gotten free shipping before) but that's still cheaper most of the time.

I've done this about 3 times and I plan to do it with 9S. I didn't realize it was such a foreign concept.

 

@Seditionary is correct. You back out of a pre-order you lose the 200USD deposit, plain and simple.
However, should Volks decide to sell that doll later on after all the other pre-ordered dolls are paid in full and shipped out; then the next buyer pays full price for that doll to Volks. That's what I was trying to say earlier.

Maybe ya'll can help answer this for me, but does the volksUSA shop in Gardena CA actually have a storefront or is it just a distribution center? I live within a couple hours of there, and if they have a storefront I'd love to visit.

 

@Cap'n The Gardena location is just a distribution center now. VolksUSA no longer has a store front. Although, I believe you can still pick up packages from there.

 

Okay what is up with this fake Snow Miku that Volks is warning about on their website?!! A fake DD Snow Miku had been made and is being sold??? So I looked on ebay and it is true. OMG she has been copied, WTH!!!???? Not trying to cause a panic, but seriously???

 

I thought vinyl dolls couldn't be recasted because it would destroy the vinyl?

As for DD Snow Miku, there's an ongoing discussion about it on the Dollfie Dreams website, if anyone is interested, as I don't believe we can go into details here.

 

That fake doll looks so ugly, at least it is easy to spot the fake DDs unlike with BJDs but it sucks that they're being recasted too :/

 

I finally got my hands on a Kos-Mos I've wanted her since she first got announced in like... 2013, and i just found a complete set. She'll be my first dollfie, which is somewhat ironic since they're the dolls that first got me interested in bjd :

Due to the complex multiple processes needed to manufacture vinyl dolls with internal skeletons (Dollfie Dreams, Obitsus, Smart Dolls), counterfeits would be more accurate than recasts. These types of dolls are complicated to manufacture and require a lot of expensive equipment, unlike recasting resin dolls, which anyone can do at home on their kitchen table.
Vinyl dolls use two manufacturing processes; injection molding for the internal parts and a process called slush molding for the exterior vinyls. Both processes are detailed here, although the design processes may differ for the various brands:

These Miku counterfeits are troublesome in that someone has gone through a lot of trouble to produce them and has access to the various manufacturing equipment necessary to do so. This is no small thing.

 

I got my new girl in today! She's a DD3 with a DDH-07 head in normal skin. Here she is hanging out with my Luts boys since she has to borrow their clothes for now. xD


Also, has anyone here ever hybrid a resin head onto a dd3 body? Not one of the resin SQ heads I seen that already fits on one of them, like a normal resin head. I heard the first gen bodies could easily be hybrid, but I can't find one.

Thank you for the very informative explanation! I had no idea it took two processes to make DDs. Seems like a lot of effort for a fake to put in, and they're usually known for the bare minimum of effort. Is this why volks unleashed the DD³ body?
