Mine arrived yesterday, but I have to wait for my family to pack her in their suitcases and bring them to the UK before I can do an "unboxing". I'm just relieved they got to them safe and sound.

 

congrats @HEEDLESS_X_FEI & @Jglow, I was also able to pick up my girl from the post office yesterday. My first DD.

It was a little fiddly for me getting used to handling her especially because I'm so used to controlling movement with tension or dolls with frames that are more integral to their body (so much easier to control alignment of the skeleton when putting back together). But she's so darned cute! I'll be scoring these threads for notes and tricks from DD veterans.

By the way the instructions for putting on her iconic 01 sticker; does anyone know what they specifically say in English? I get that it needs to soak in water but no clue about the other details. Also the clear liquid they show being painted over it - any idea what that is?

Have you guys seen the news on Dollfie Honey on Volks USA's FB?
Here's a video from Speecy's website. I think this is the same base they'll be using for Miku? I immediately thought about the Smart Doll when I saw this.

I don't know if I'd ever get (or could afford) one but it's a cool concept. I can't wait to see more.

 

My first thought upon seeing DD Honey: "Volks beat Danny this time." But I really do love this concept, but I beat it'll cost more than I could every pay.

UPS attempted to deliver my Snow Miku while I was at work today. The note they left said they'd try to deliver tomorrow but the online tracking states they delivered it to the local UPS Store for me to pickup. I plan to call them as soon as they open to find out if they have her or not. But its looking like I won't get to open her until at least Sunday!!! D: I'm helping someone move and will be out of town until late Saturday; thus, I REALLY hope I'm able to pick her up tomorrow, because otherwise I'll have to sign the slip and ask to have the package left (I'd sweat so many bullets).

 

lmao I appreciate that the skeleton and the program don't match up at all, especially the legs. GSC showed off something similar with their Nendoroid Miku:



Personally, I don't think the technology exists yet for what they're trying to accomplish with the DD/Smart Doll. So they're going to need to sink a lot of money into a project like this to make the movements halfway believable. Right now it's too gimmicky.

 

Talking about robo-dolls, I think that it would be better if Volks would cooperate with these guys:

@kranberrijam My thoughts exactly... I don't even know how far Danny is with his project. We haven't been getting any updates lately other than him saying he hasn't dropped it.

@revien Haha those legs did creep me out a bit, to be honest. We still have a long way to go before humanoid robots become mainstream.

@Tolgy You beat me to it. Rozen Zebet is their actual Youtube channel. I've been watching them ever since I first saw their videos 4-5 years ago.

Also, the new September outfit collection is announced, i´m already loving the jeans...but it looks like none of them will fit a DD, or is there a model that will fit?

 

A quick pic of my Snow Miku! I'm not going to put the "01" tattoo on. VolksUSA restocked the medium semi-white torso, so I grabbed one of those. The SS bust is cute for the Miku outfits, but I want something more "mature" for other SD outfits.

She's my first Dollfie Dream, so I'm getting used to the difference with her having an interior frame as opposed to being strung. I do have vinyl fashion dolls, so it's similar to that, but of course DDs are more articulated and have more range of motion.

I like the new DDS Anastasia, her face really looks different to the other heads, though she reminds me a tiiiiiiny bit of the DDH-07.
I'm safe from her though She's probably going to be the lottery for December - or even earlier - so I wish everybody luck who try to get her

Seriously? I didn't get the notice, but I ordered mine from the international store. I didn't get a notice from them, either. I hope it's not delayed any further; it would be annoying to get a winter outfit AFTER winter was over!

Thats super annoying about the coat delay; they must have gotten a lot of orders for it (it IS a very nice outfit). I do wish I would have waited and ordered it via the US store, since it was about $10 cheaper overall. I'll probably be doing that a lot more now, since the conversion rate is sucking for the dollar currently.

Volks showed off the Senbonzakura outfits for Rin and Len, and the next outfits for them will be the Akuno series and Deep Dea Girl for Miku. Even though I don't have the twins yet I WILL get them and all these outfits are mandatory, especially the Akuno one (my wedding dress was that dress, so yes I AM a tad obsessed).

Thanks for reminding me the channel, I had failed to find it this time.
Looking on their site (http://dancingdoll-rz.com/main.htm) one can see that the proper way to build good robo-doll - is to start not from the body you already have, even very beautiful one, but from building rigid skeleton which will be able to carry powerful motors and battery, required for doll's agility and stability. Some accelerometers and gyros and a lot of software will be required as well. And still their dolls - the best dancing dolls I have ever saw, in spite so many time have passed!

Great news! Aku no Hana outfit, it's the only thing I wanted from Volks for Rin! And it makes Rin must have for me...

@Tolgy Yeah, macro lenses do require a tripod when you want to make close up pictures, otherwise they get super blurry - but that wasn't the problem since I have one > < It's rather that the picture gets grainier and less vibrant you more you zoom in, no matter what settings I tried. And when I can't zoom in well I don't need a macro lens, or will have to save up for a better one.

Well, if these dolls are the long awaited pre-order, I am a little bit disappointed. Nothing for me, although I really like Anastasias dress.

 

I just saw the DDP girls on Facebook too. I must say, I wasn't expecting more Idolmaster girls for the new body. Are they going to be the pre-order dolls for this year? If so I'm disappointed... I was expecting something new.

 

Wow.. If they're the pre-order dolls I'm dissappointed as well. What was with all that hype if it was just more Idolmaster dolls? It's nothing new really.

I think that was also a pretty weird bet from Volks to make Idolmaster girls pre-order dolls and not Kagamines.. Kagamines seem to be more popular and it'd have made more sense since all the previous Idolmaster dolls have been lottery dolls and Vocaloid dolls (Mikus) have been pre-order dolls. Maybe the DD collectors in Japan are just really crazy about Idolmasters..

 

Yep, Iori, Yayoi and Anastasia are the new preorder dolls - accepting orders from the 8th October to the 4th December 2016.
And they're supposed to ship in Fall 2017, but knowing Volks it might be more Winter 2017

My wallet is safe this time, I'm not interested in little girl dolls and Anastasia's face somehow isn't mine.

 

I have to agree with you @purplepaws & @Godzilla I'm also extremely disappointed. The last thing I wanted to see was more Idolmaster. After so much hype for this countdown where people were guessing if it would be CardCaptor or Sailormoon it's no wonder I feel let down by Volks. They can do so much more than they're releasing, but they don't. It's as if they don't give a rat's bum about the international market's wants/needs and only focus on their own region's tastes. At times like these it's especially evident why Danny Choo is wiping the floor with them as far as variety.
What doesn't make sense for Volks financially is they already have all the molds and licenses. Why only focus on one show and only 2-3 colors? They'd make a lot more money bringing the tan skin color back, but make it a standard option and not just a limited release.
Sorry rant over. I'm so frustrated right now.

 

I'm guessing the reason they don't bring tan as standard is because maybe they're afraid of backlogging too much, evident of what happens when they bring something popular for pre-orders. I am also disappointed by the Idolmasters girls TT_TT I understand that all their decisions are made based on their local market and not international market, it makes sense, but since all other girls were lottery, why make these ones pre-order? Like Jglow said, they already have that license, so why not get another contract for the pre-order instead? TT_TT

 

I'm curious about this Dollfie Dream Pretty they mention. I haven't seen any info on that page. I think they're all cute but I need to sell a few dolls / things before I can think about another doll.

 

@originalcyn What are you curious about? .w. I don't know which page you're referring to, here is the body though? You can see the size of it compared to MDD and DDS. My guess is that the skeleton is the same as the other bodies, just shorter/taller (to MDD). What else is there to wonder about? .3.

 

@Shailara that is exactly what I was looking for. I guess I didn't know where to look. This is the first time I've heard of DDPretty. That looks like just the body I was wanting! I was thinking about getting an Obitsu 47 and this new body seems to be on those lines.

 

The Pretty body is interesting, though not for me. And more IdolMaster dolls as pre-orders, but the Kagamines are lottery??? No, I will never not be upset over that. It looks like their Senbonzakura outfits are clickwar and 18,000yen each. I will be stealing my husbands computer since its much faster than my own because I MUST HAVE ALL THE OUTFITS.

 

I hope in a future they have preorders for Kagamines! same as Miku, I want that cute Len so much!

 

Really disappointed beyond words to see more Idolmaster. I was really hoping for Cardcaptor Sakura. Guess not.

Even though it's not standard yet, they're bringing tan skin back for D'Coord! We can cross our fingers and hope that they release it standard some day soon.

I'm also a little disappointed that the preorder wasn't the Kagamines. . . that's what I would have preferred. . . or another series that a lot of people were hoping for, like Sailor Moon or CCS. But for me there was a "consolation prize": Iori and Yayoi have sculpts that are perfect for a couple of OCs! So I'm not too upset now.

@paxita I'm also hoping they do a preorder for the Kagamines! It seems that they're pretty much releasing Miku yearly here in the States, so maybe they will bring the twins over too. But as Miku seems to be more popular, I'm a little worried they won't. . . .

IDOLM@STER is extremely popular in Japan, so it's not surprising to see these girls at all. I love Cinderella Girls but something about Anastasia's make up bothers me... Iori is very cute though.

Not to be a debbie downer, but an official Sailor Moon DD is a pipe dream. Bandai has such a tight grip on its license in Japan it'd be impossible for Volks to pay the license fee for it, especially since there are much more popular series. Even in the figure hobby only Bandai and its subsidiaries release SM items. Cardcaptor would probably be doable though.
