$500, yeah right!! I rather commission a pink sweater for Sky and paint his white sneakers in pink. =D

 

Yep, no luck for me either. I have to say I'm kinda relieved though because on a second thought. $200+ for that outfit is a bit too much. Especially since I had no use for the wig or the uniform... All I wanted was the cardigan, sneakers and the headphones. Oh well.
I wonder if anyone actually pays the scalper prices for these outfits and/or dolls. I see dolls listed for ludicrous prices on Ebay and YJA and they sit there for the longest time before they disappear at one point.

 

For anyone curious about the DDP body, looks like there are some prototype pics here! (...thread also contains slightly lewd gif, don't open in a public place.) So a slightly taller equivalent to the MDD, huh? Interesting. And looks like they're trying to get the engineering to the 50cm Obitsu level. Hope none of it breaks easily this time >>

Just got an e-mail from Volks USA stating that Snow Miku is on her way to them and she'll be shipping earlier than expected! You have until the 19th to make the final payment if you didn't pay the full amount up front (I've got to figure out the budget like a madwomen). They're also offering a pre-order for her wig, but its $110; I was ready for around $80, but think I'll just get a cheaper one off eBay for everyday wear.

BUT I'M SO EXCITED, WHEE~! \^o^/

I've always wanted to try making flower crowns for my dolls and I finally went out and got the materials today. Here's my second attempt, modeled by Alice. She loves everything floral and I think the pink flowers suit her perfectly. ^_^

I believe this is my first time sharing my Amy Marie! She recently got an outfit change and a haircut all brought on by a stain on her neck that forced me to take her apart to clean it. Strangely enough, the stain wasn't from her clothes but from the metal backing of a necklace she was wearing! Now I'm ultra paranoid about any metal findings on her clothes.

Took a quick shot of my two big girls this weekend and wanted to share it because Mariko's looks sssooo tiny (she's a DDS, Kana is a Luts Senior Delf). Mariko is also wearing some rather large platform shoes. Her shortness kills me with glee.

Yes, that is because polyvinyl chloride (aka vinyl) releases hydrochloric acid as it ages, which corrodes metals. That is one problem that old barbies have too. That is one good reason to keep the vinyls away from the resin dolls.

 

Well, that's a new one I haven't heard before. Would you be able to provide a scientific/academic source for this? I'd like to read more into it and Google isn't helping me here.

@Kimchi Amy Marie looks lovely in her new outfit. I love the color of her wig.
I had a similar incident too. I had this school uniform I got from Volks. It had decorative metal buttons on the front. Being the DD newbie I am, I didn't think twice before putting it on the doll only to remove it a couple of weeks later and find her chest covered in stains. I was so sad because I've heard about stains but never thought I'd experience it because I was being extra careful. I learned my lesson the hard way so no more metal accessories for my vinyl girls.

Aww I like the height difference of your girls. Mariko must be really tiny though because my Sasara is almost as tall as my SD17 boys when she's wearing heels. How tall is Kana?

 

@purplepaws: Kana is also wearing some heels, but Mariko's platforms are still bigger. Kana is 60cm and Mariko is 55cm, giving them about a two inch difference in height (which is a lot when you're talking dolls). Mariko has a slight complex about her height, heehee.

The funny thing is, I'm rather short (5' even) so I guess that ended up bleeding over to Mariko? Then again, I keep wanting to buy her clothing that I'd kill to wear myself, but I can't afford it human-sized. Guess I'm living vicariously through her, lol.

 

So am I! This will be my first Dollfie Dream. I'm so looking forward to getting her.
I also have the Fluffy Coat Set on preorder for her from Volks Intl., but that's not due to arrive until September now. Which is fine, since I bought it as her winter outfit, anyway.

 

@MichelleAK: This is will my first "completed" doll (both of my other ones came in blank). I'm paying for her on Tuesday and then the longest wait till begin! I am a bit bummed about the Fluffy Coat getting delayed (was really hoping it would all arrive around the same time) but ohwell. I do plan to change her bust, but have to wait until Volks USA gets the SW S-bust back in stock, but I did order her a second wig to wear everyday so I can keep the default wig in the best condition possible.

Also, the lottery on Volks International for the Kagamine twins starts today. I'm entering and one friend is entering for me. Throwing it out there now, but if we lose and someone doesn't want their win, pleasepleaseplease let me know. But either way, good luck to everyone whos entering and just crossing my fingers so hard they might break that I win my loves.

 

Good luck in the lottery! I'm holding off on any additional DDs until I see how I like Miku.

I also plan on getting an additional bust for my Miku, but I'll probably get a medium bust, so she can "fill out" some SD13 outfits I already have.

It seems I'm not alone with the metal incident I like to put a bunch of stuff on Sky and I kept this cute necklace on him for like a week and when I removed it I noticed an ugly stain on the back of his neck I freaked out like "noooo on Sky!!! my cute boy is runied!! " then I tried to remove it but it didn't come off with anything. I gave him a small tattoo on his neck to hide the ugly stain... it looks cute so I'm happy in the end. =] (but no more necklaces on him!!)

I also pierced Jorgen's ears but the earrings are plastic and not metal, phew!
However, Crash is on the obitsu body, he wears only black and wears metal bracelets. I also pierced his ears and the earrings are metal, he also uses a hand metal chain and has a metal nose piercing. I inspected him and he looks fine...but no necklaces! I think they are the culprit here.

Aaah so many pretty girls here with different styles!!

I also wanted to add real quick: good luck to everyone entering the lottery! I entered several times for Len even though I already got mine but if I win more than one I will offer my entries here and/or at the DD forum.

 

I think I got lucky with Amy Marie - her torso was sealed from a body blushing I gave her, so I think the sealant kept the stains from penetrating as deep as they could have. It still took like, ten applications of acne cream to get the stains as light as possible. You can still kind of see the worst one in bright light and there are smooth patches were I kept reapplying the cream. The aftermarket mark-ups of DDs is almost a blessing or else I'd have at least two more fussy vinyl girls.>.o

 

Have been out of the loop for a while now, work and life have been busy and not left me with much doll time. This little lady arrived about 3 weeks ago and I've been so bad at introducing her T_T
This is my Alisa, who I managed to get as just a head on Jungle for a fantastic price. She stole my DDdy body but the torpedo tits just didn't suit her, so I modded a DDIII L bust to fit and now she's perfect!

 

Hello all, I'm not a DD owner but I hope to be one day. I actually had the chance and funds to get DD Hatsune Miku when she was first released but alas I decided it was better to save for an upcoming move - it didn't go well and a part of me still is kicking myself for not getting her. Then they came out with Snow Miku...and I'll tell ya I'm torn between the two.

@karrigankat *chuckles* Torpedo tits... I don't think I've heard of that one before. But she looks great in her picture (I'm assuming that's the modded bust). What is "Jungle"?

You can tell just from this photo how close and loving the two must be. Their wigs are amazing! If you don't mind me asking, but where did you find them? I'm having a difficult time finding beautiful red wigs.

 

@karrigankat Congratulations! Alisa is so beautiful and makes a great redhead~ I'm not a fan of the DDdy boobs either, so I did the same mod for my Suiren's body. The DDdy body has such lovely wide hips and thighs~

Speaking of Suiren, I've had her in Sheryl cosplay because I visited an anime convention last month and had her with me there. I don't cosplay myself so I thought I can have my doll do it for me, lol~ I had to make a new waistband for her skirt because it didn't fit the DDdy lower body very well.



In other news, I took part in the Rin & Len lottery so I'll be rolling around anxiously waiting for the results now, ahah. I'm trying not to lose all hope until the results are out, but after losing out on DD Takane and MDD Arle, I don't feel very confident... But I wish luck to everyone who entered in the lottery! I hope that we see lots of Rin & Len around, they are so cute!!

 

I would still be careful with any metal jewelry. Definitely keep him away from excessive warmth and sunlight, as it will speed up the aging process. Also, check out Twin Pines. They make cleaners especially designed for vinyl. Remove-Zit It can help remove metal stains, although it may take a few treatments.

 

Thank you for the advice, @Audrina Mystique =) my dolls are never in the sun or in warm places but they get easily stained even though I'm very careful with them. I will look into Twin pines!

The 2 wigs are from Leekeworld, unfortunately they are a limited color avaible for a short time during a couple of events ago, but if I remember well ForMyDoll has also some wigs in this color on their selection.

So I'm perhaps a little too laid back about my DD collection, but my girls spent the last 3+ years on full display in a room with a very large patio door that meant they got both intense sunlight *and* intense heat, and among my first-hand girls, I honestly I can't tell any difference between my oldest girl (Marisa, Feb 2011) and my newest girl (Alisa, Sept 2015). So, to each their own, but I personally do not worry very much about heat/sunlight when it comes to the vinyl girls (and now, boy!).

Among my second-hand girls, only two have any sign of aging: the Rin Ts, which not only came from different sellers but also from different countries entirely (one from a cold/dry northern climate and one from a warm/wet southern climate) and, curiously, they are both aged to the same degree and in the same places, which suggests to me environment has very little impact.

As for metal: If it's cheap jewelry that would probably stain your skin, then it probably shouldn't be on your dolls either. I've left metal jewelry on my dolls for 6+ months at a time with no staining, but I'm also not using copper or nickel jewelry. I'm suspecting the staining issues are less "metal + vinyl" specifically and more "metal that will stain anything it gets on regardless of material."

Obviously, to each their own and many people may wish to be faaar more cautious than me, but my level of "laid-backness" has let me enjoy my dolls way and hasn't had any negative consequences.

I'm not sure if this would work, but I had a similar problem with my wedding ring. I'm terrible at wearing rings, I ended up scuffing up my band and it kinda stained my finger. The ring was a cheap/costume jewelry piece that I picked out; I liked how simple it was and I never liked expensive jewelry...I'd rather spend it on dolls. *laughs* Well anyways, when I scuffed it up I decided to wear it as a pendant instead. Unfortunately, it caused me to breakout. So I decided to try an idea I had, I used Aleene's Paper Glaze to cover it - it took a few layers to encase the entire ring but it worked. You can barely tell that it's been glossed, and the crystals and metal are still as shiny as ever!

 

I got the necklace that stained my boy from a BJD company. I have used it on my bjds with no problem so I thought it was going to be the same for vinyl dolls. I can't test them on myself because I can only wear gold and other type of jewelry, even silver, will give me allergies and I believe you have to leave them on your skin for a certain amount of time to see if they will stain.

I do enjoy my dolls a lot and I play with them a lot in spite of the way I take care of them. I think everyone is different with the way they enjoy their dolls. In my case, I enjoy them when I'm careful with them and I freak out if I leave them in humid/very warm places. When I play with them I use gloves.... yeah, I'm that type of crazy doll owner. But I'm this way with everything in my life, I should also mention that I'm a germophobe none of this has tampered my enjoyment, in fact, it has made me enjoy it more since my oldest doll looks in great condition because of the way I take care of him.

Sometimes I coat small piercings with clear nail polish and I think this is the reason why they haven't stained my other boy...

Mine is scheduled for Thursday~!!! I won't be able to open her until sometime Friday, as I want to record a box opening and I need good daylight for my camera to look even halfway decent.

Volks USA is also restocking a lot of body parts on September 2nd, so I'll go ahead and order Miku's new bust and maybe some hands. Not sure if I should finish getting Mariko's hands I want, or start on Miku's (they're different skin tones).

 

Hi there...newb DD owner here. I also got my Snow Miku shipping notice. I'm super excited to have her and been amassing outfits for her. I don' think I'll display her default full-set too often. I'm so curious to handle a DD in person. I'm also hoping to get my hands on the Miku carrying case that was posted on Twitter. And congrats to all of the other Snow Miku owners getting their shipping notices.
