Mar 27, 2014

    1. Thanks for the info, Innocentsake! I'm happy about Saber Extra and Nero! It would have been nice if they did something more creative, yes, but this is nice too. :) I'm guessing they'll be available by lottery?

    2. Oh, that is sweet! Definately gonna enter the lottery or whatever for a chance at the Sabers.

    3. I am so confused now :o There is so much Happening at the moment o_O

    4. Pastels will be my next step in bravery hehe :D

    5. Great news about the Sabers! I'll definitely give it a shot- I've missed every single Saber! Maybe I'll have some luck this time around. One off DD would be pretty cool, too. Maybe they'll do that for another event.

    6. Innocentsake, thank you for posting this! Saber is one of my dream DDs!!!

I'm almost glad I didn't win one of the recent resin SD lottery dolls. LOL!!

    7. Oh!, I want to have Sasara too, why need to be a lottery :pout:

Just some picture of Picarin :D

    8. She's so cute! I love her bonnet :)

    9. Hey guys, I made this a while ago but forgot to post here-
It's a spreadsheet full of the DD release info, including original sale date and price, sculptor, mold #, etc.
Volks doesn't always maintain the old webpages so it's a handy resource, and all the info is in one place ^_^
      Here's the link:
      https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fxI9JEzGZSkCo6hkDwO2pHTdOvTWFt6s3QnrKBRTLak/edit?usp=sharing

I just updated it to include the Macross Frontier pre-order and what we know so far for the Dolpa 32 releases. Hope it's helpful!

    10. jadepixel-Thank you so much, you did an outstanding job on the spreadsheet, what an excellent resource! :thumbup

I'm so excited about the Macross Frontier pre-order, I want everything they are offering! :dance

    11. Ok, guys. I am now really considering taking the jump over to these vinyl beauties.
So I would like to ask about the optional parts.

I am not sure which body I should get. My choice is only between DDII and DDIII.
I like having the choice of getting multiple hand parts... So could someone inform me of how the bodies differ in that regard?
Is it just the interior that is different? Or am I safe to buy just about any DD hand parts (or other parts) and it will fit either body?

As for heads - I think I will stick to the unlimited ones - anyone have any suggestions of a good place to purchase them, that ships to the eu?

    12. For those of you who missed the Saber Pre-Order I'm really happy that you'll have another chance at them :) I have my Seraphina (Saber Nero) and I love her to bits <3 To be honest I can't remember if Hide-san said they would be lottery or first-come/first-serve purchase. But the latest newsletter said they would put more details out about the DD Holiday event soon so best to just wait for them to announce it so I don't misinform anyone on that end of things~

@Yumeiro: All hands work with both DDII & DDIII (Also DDS & DDdy II & III). You need to make sure to buy hands that are either all normal size such as this one:
      https://www.volks.co.jp/page_ex.jsp...ESSID=InitDisp&jancd=4518992351537&version=en

Or to buy all large hands such as this one:
      https://www.volks.co.jp/page_ex.jsp...ESSID=InitDisp&jancd=4518992395654&version=en

Normal hands are more petite, but don't have as much detailing to them. Whereas the large hands are of course bigger and have nicer details sculpted on them. Which one you should get is hard to say as it is up to personal preference. Some prefer to use the normal hands because they feel the large hands look too big. And others like the bigger hands because they photograph better than the normal ones. Once you decide on which ones you like better just make sure all the hands are that specific size otherwise you'll have one hand that is bigger than the other. And also depending on what skin tone you want your girl to be make sure to get the right color (Normal, Semi-White, White). The price is the same for both normal and large hands. Even though they are in a separate section make sure not to purchase MDD hands :)

The DDII base body was sold as one whole body put together. Unlike the DDIII which you can buy replacement parts for the DDII the only parts you could buy for it were things like the outer vinyl parts, busts, hands, and of course different heads. If the internal skeleton in the DDII breaks you cannot buy replacement parts for it. Also Volks International & Volks USA have stopped stocking the DDII Base Body so if you want one you'll have to find one second hand. The only listing on Volks International is for the DDII Base Body in White Skin with it saying "Will Be Restocked" but I don't believe it has ever been restocked since they have been putting out the DDIII, DDdyIII & DDS bodies. But the DDIII has greater posing capabilities than the DDII and they sell all replacement parts for it. You can buy a DDIII base body that has already been put together (which is a little cheaper) or buy the pieces separately and put them together yourself. The DDIII Base Body comes with a M-Bust so if that's the size bust you want great and if not you can always buy another bust along with the Base Body or just buy all the parts separately so you can get the bust size you want.

For everything you need your best bet is waiting for everything to come in-stock on Volks International. Anywhere else that offers the parts for sale will have them at a higher cost. Volks International as the name implies will ship to EU via EMS as that is all they offer. They take credit card & PayPal :)

I think I covered everything, but if not I'm sure more people will chime in with more info. It's almost 6:30am and I haven't gone to bed yet so I'm getting pretty tired haha.

    13. Awesome reply Innocentsake!

I must of course then ask if anyone could post some pictures of the hands! I would like to see how the larger and normal hands compare on the dolls.
But I am glad that there seem to be no doubt about the optional parts then. Especially if they are abandoning the II body.

I have never been sure on which volks-store dealt with eu, if at all (even if it says international), so I am glad to be informed of that too.

    14. Hello friends, sorry if this is not the place to ask but I need a little help, my DD Hatsune Miku is hostage of the evil brazilian customs, since she is so expensive (more than $500) she needs a special importing permission to enter the country (very expensive importing fees), to get this permission I need some information like the size of the box she was shipped in, the mass of the package, the adress of the sender etc, anyone that already have her in hands can help me with this please? If I do not give this data to the post in 5 days they will send her back to japan and if I ask Volks for help the answer may not arrive in time, please if someone can help send me a PM, thanks, and again sorry.

    15. I sent you a PM with my box info, I hope it helps...

    16. I wanted to post here, because I am very excited and also very inexperience with DD's! I just purchased a Miku second-hand, and the seller said she is shipping tomorrow. I've never had a DD, and never really considered buying one until Miku was announced (I'm a huge Vocaloid fan). This will also be my first female doll! So now I am scrambling to find something for her to wear when she arrives. Can anyone give tips on what size clothing will fit her? And what size wigs will I need? @_@ I'm really clueless when it comes to DD!

    17. I just want to say going through this thread that everyone of your DD dolls are so cute and beautiful. :3

    18. Yay congrats! She is such a pretty doll! :D You can find clothing specifically for DD's on Volks, Dollheart, Coolcat, and Etsy (to name a few). Also in addition many of my SD10/13 clothing fits my girl, except it is big in the waist and chest. My Miku fits every 8-9inch wig that I have on hand :)

      Hope this helps!

      Some Miku spam :D

    19. Oh, she's beautiful! :DI know it's impolite to ask a lady's weight, but how much does she weigh?

      Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cuteness overload!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Vocaloid, too! You're soooo lucky to get Miku! Anyway, a DD is made of vinyl and can stain easily, so you should buy a white body stocking. Also, if Miku has her original eyes, they may be hot-glued in by Volks. If you want to change her eyes, pop her head in the freezer for about 6 hours and the eyes will come out easily.:cake:

    20. My DDDy weighs 906gm, fully clothed. Miku might be a bit lighter.

    21. Thank you for the info! I'm glad her head is the right size for 8-9; that's most of what I have already. I'm stalking ebay for some things, but thank you for the store suggestions. Your girl is super super cute! :D spam away!

    22. Hello ^^ I hope nobody minds me popping in here. After years of admiring from afar, I recently finally went through with my 1st DD purchase via a Marketplace layaway courtesy of moment here on DOA, a DDdy Miko who I love to bits. Now that I have her, I don't know why it took me so long to finally take the plunge and finally get my 1st DD, she definitely won't be my last, too! She's currently waiting for me to have a chance to sew for her, which may not be until next year at this rate (especially as I am currently undertaking Steampunk / Neo Victorian-style sewing projects for other dolls and I am about to go travelling in mid December), but this is Aislinn :XD:

Aislinn is currently also waiting on more suitable eyes that will be a better match for her intended character. She will be my Dragon Keeper (Newt, my Aileendoll Seed, will be her little baby dragon charge, and I have plans to make a large soft-sculpted dragon in a size suitable enough to be her dragon mount - something I have wanted to do for a long time but not had the suitable doll to sculpt one for) and sword maiden :XD: I am hoping early to mid next year she will also be joined by Ainsleigh - a planned custom DDH-08 head on a medium bust DDS body who will be her best friend and Dragon Keep stable maid.

    23. JenKat, congratulations!! You can't go wrong with DDdy Miko, in my opinion! Your Aislinn is lovely.

    24. She is so adorable! :o did you sew the clothes And plush yourself?! I want both! :D congratulations ;)

    25. Hihi everyone =o
Last year I missed my chance at getting Miku I really wanted a Dolfie/ my first doll in general. I passed up the chance and regret it since I am a big Miku fan. This new Macross pre order peaked my interest again with another favorite character of mine (I know Volks wont be doing an Aikatsu dollfie ever so I should'ent wait till the end of time to order one) I opted to pre-order Sheryl O_O she's just so pretty loved her even in the anime. I don't have a character for her I just want her for her as herself. However I'm still new in the hobby and dollfies I know zilch about. o_o I know they stain easy i might have to maneuver around without a body suit since she has clothes that might look funny with it. Do they stain badly with clothing? How sturdy are they? can the internal frame break from handling them wrongly? or just roughly? I appreciate any answers to my bazillions of questions. Thanks in advance :3

    26. Thank you kindly, galatia9 :kitty1 Yes, as a choice for a first DD, Miko is definitely perfect :kitty2 So happy to have her home! :aheartbea

Thank you too, elektroeule! No, sadly not me but her slip is the gorgeous default one from Volks that Miko comes with, The suspender set is one I already had from King's Shop on Taobao (http://jinzhuan.taobao.com) - Jeeryama / Doll's Singing on Ebay also usually carry them (http://stores.ebay.com/DollsSinging/Kings-shop-). The little plush bun was a gorgeous free gift with a Tata's Paradise order a few years back when they first opened their English store in 2010, so not one of mine either but very very very cute <3

I also have pics with her in another Licht wig which will be going to my DDH-08 headed girl when I get her. I wanted to try out my C
'est la Seduction Ash Powder boots on her for fit and they are absolutely perfect :D Now I have the perfect excuse to order more boots from CLS :sweat

    27. Staining is a forever issue with DD. Just make sure you cloth her in non-staining things... If you are afraid then you should check first whether a clothing or part of it can stain before putting it on your DD. ^^ Metal can also stain in the long run, so beware of zippers.

Handling DD has the same rule as handling BJD : DO NOT BREAK THEM. ^^ Handle them with care, no roughness ever needed. Don't sit on them, and don't throw them around. Don't use sharp objects on them, and certainly not heavy objects as well. Then it's going to be fine. Haha...

    28. Ah ok then. I've heard people say it was different to handle them due to the internal frame so I was unsure. Yay I never handle my dolls roughly knowing that dollfies arnt that fragile I can relax abit. I guess staining is the real issue I guess I will look into various slips and covers for her then since I plan on her using her default outfits often and they are colorful. Thank you very much for responding ^^

    29. You're welcome, Kimmichi, and congrats on your first DD! ^^ To avoid staining, I always cover the body with clingwraps (transparent plastic food wraps). Just wrap the parts of the body that are in contact with the clothes. One layer is enough, and it is so much thinner than body stocking. ^^ It's easy to use it to cover the head, too, so you can put different hair colors on your DD.

    30. Oh cling wrap eh? I've never heard that idea, but I think I like the sounds of it! I keep my girl in a body stocking and loose/light coloured clothes when I'm not posing her for photos. Cling wrap would be nice because you can just cover the bits that need it instead of the whole doll :D

    31. They are a little different. As pointed out a lot of the "Do's and Don'ts" of handling large vinyl dolls (Dollfie Dreams and Obitsus) are similar to that of other BJDs, but there are some differences. Most of the joints of their internal skeletons have more than one axis of movement and it's best to move each axis of every joint separately, unlike being able to just pull a limb of a strung doll into position. They are pretty robust so you shouldn't have to shy away from normal handling. Once you get your hands on one of these girls you will see how different and yet similar they are to any other doll. When posing, just go slowly at first till you get to know how and where they bend.

    32. Thanks for all the advice guys. Cling wrap hmm I'll try it we always have a box of that handy since we bake alot here.
Thanks K-2 I wont get my hands on her till this time next year >.< but I know it will be worth the wait. I'm excited to finally get one I've only seen them but never held one was to scared to at Dollism even as the girl offered to let me hold hers.

    33. She wanted you to hold her girl to see how shocked and amazed you would be when you discovered how light weight DDs are compared to an equivalent size resin.

    34. JenKat, your photos are beautiful and very deadly to someone who is still considering whether or not to take the DD plunge...

I am super SUPER tempted by Sheryl since she's my fave Macross F character, but I don't yet have the funds... Are pre-orders like this truly time limited or am I going to have to hope she hasn't been over ordered by January (Or whenever I save up enough)?

      Thanks heaps in advance and I hope you don't mind me just hopping in here ^^;

    35. Aoibhe, the pre-orders are really time-limited. They'll fill all the orders made before it closes. So you have until January 18th make an order. :)
And about saving up. . . . This is posted on the Schedule page of the preorder website:

So you have until next year to save up the funds if you decide to preorder her.

    36. I have a question, if Makoto kikuchi have blue eyes and in the volks photos too, why my makoto have Brown eyes? its a volks mistake? its only me or the other makotos have too?

    37. Yup... DD preorder is time limited, but they give us lots of time to save up! ^^ You don't even need to pay a down payment.

Clingwrap... yes. ^^ It's thin, and it's clingy, and it's stretchy, too. And you can always cut it the right size. ^^

    38. I'm not sure, but I think the eye colors can be a little different than you would expect. Like, I thought Miku's senbonzakura eyes were purple, but they are brown in person...

    39. Went missing for a while... thought I should drop by to say hi or something.

Anyway, the usual photo spam would be:

    40. Everytime I see your little fox, I have to admit: I looooooove the ears. Are they selfmade?

    41. Just popping in to share a pic of my girl who just arrived! I paid for her Sunday, she shipped Monday, and she arrived today!

      :aheartbea Miku :aheartbea

I've never handled a DD before...she's so squishy and light! Even though I knew it, I was still surprised. But I really adore her!

    42. A Miku *~* I really like her eyes And the teal green eyebrows :)

    43. Yep, my tailor customized it for me. Even for the earring, its self-made acrylic :)

    44. RiverR and Fransyung: Thank you so much! I appreciate all the info :D

Hera, I think I've stalked your flickr page a few times XD She's an absolute stunner! What kind of fabric did you use for her ears?

    45. Wow thats gorgeous.

The color scheme reminds me of Cirno

EDIT: Just looked on the page...disregard that x_x

    46. Oh, it's my tailor who did all the job after I gave her the image to follow. I didn't ask her which fabric to use, so I have no clue at all. I am sorry >__<

Hahah, she is not Cirno. She is actually Konpaku Youmu, the least popular DD among many. I used her to act as my Cirno's older sister ^__^

    47. My Mako~chan is here. ^^ She is cute, and looks a lot like Melty... ^^;;;

I don't like the hair on her... So I'll probably give her another wig soon. >>
      And I need more outfits... >< She's supposed to be a tomboy~

    48. :aheartbea Makoto!! :aheartbea

Congrats to all the new Miku owners!

Is anyone else entering the Volks USA holiday lottery for Saber Extra or Saber Alter 2nd? I am thrilled, Saber has been on my wishlist for a long time! I just can't decide which one to enter for! And I wonder if entering for both technically gives me two chances, though I can only win one?

      Linda S.
      galatia9

    49. If I were to enter, I'd enter for Alter myself. The Saber sculpt is one of the few I prefer in white skin, and her outfit set is :aheartbea. Unfortunately I won't be able to, so I'll send all my doll lottery luck your way instead :) I hope you win!

    50. Congrats on your Miku! I had the same experience as you with the squishy and lightness hehe. She is so adorable :D

    51. i'm not entering for the saber lotto because I already have a saber alter ver2, and I love her. Her outfit is great but its not lined in white so it might stain.

    52. Thanks, galatia9... :D And if I were you, I'd pick Saber Extra because of the red dress and the red saber! ^^ I'm not in USA but I envy those who get second chances!

    53. Umi ^^ having fun with my new phone camera [IMG]

    54. Thank you kindly, Aoibhe :kitty1, and sorry for the late reply. If it weren't for the fact that I really can't look at buying one at the moment, I'm really tempted by the Macross F girls too, both Sheryl & Ranka. Volks did such a brilliant job on both! Perhaps later on down the track on the after-market if I am lucky. Otherwise I will try to just concentrate on working on Aislinn (my Miko) and then later Ainsleigh (my planned DDH-08 DDS girl), and go from there!

So much gorgeous spam! Hera, such a gorgeous photo of your girl there <3

Insane-Chan, congrats on your Miku! :XD: Yes, the amazing weight difference is definitely one of those things of beauty in itself when it comes to DDs vs. resin bjds of the same size ^^ Your Miku is gorgeous, I'm definitely enjoying watching these girls arrive and hoping we see more Vocaloid releases down the track (especially Luka - I need Luka!)

Congrats on Makoto's arrival too, fransyung! :kitty2

Lovely pic of Umi there too, Bambi Darling!

    55. Bambi Darling, you make me want to dress my girlsup in fluffy winter clothes!

Thank you! I have to say, I slightly prefer the faceup on Saber Alter! And I like her sword better, too. Her dress set is beautiful.

I know, her outfit is gorgeous! Plus she is on the large bust body. Thank you!

      Linda S.

    56. Jenkat - thank you! Galatia9- fluffy winter clothes are the best ^-^

Sorry for the spam but in having too much fun with this girl ^-^ [IMG]

    58. I love Ia, Knibitz. :D I like those eyes very much. And congrats her for the little toy! xD
