Volks DearSD 43cm Discussion Part 2

Jul 28, 2017

    1. @SoapBubbles, your Sweet Dream girls look especially cute in those Volks outfits. And they have matching flocky bears; too darling!

@snowgray, thank you for posting the Mado display pics. It's nice to see that Volks is adding more sculpts and hands for the Dear SD, and I like the change-up of outfit colors. Bold red/white/black! Plus Tan resin :3nodding:

Some dolly tax here; my Yu Morisawa Dear SD got to wear an outfit I bought at Dolpa last December, and she's workin' it --

When I look at her, I think of Dainty June in "Gypsy" -- Let me entertain you/Let me make you smile...

    2. What shoe brand/size fit? Luts baby delf shoes are 6 cm long inside, but maybe not wide enough?

I’m sure it’s been discussed before but please point me in the right direction then, thank you!

    3. @beamlette Thank you! <3 Your Yu Morisawa looks so classy in that outfit - I really love how you styled her.

I usually stick to SD size shoes. At the very least, when I use the volks SD shoes they usually fit quite well.

    4. I really like the DSD, but it often looks weird to me, probably because it wears clothes and shoes that are too big.

      What are the feet measurements?

Maybe one can change to SD10 or MSD feet (or other brand) (and hands), can someone confirm it would fit?

Luts list their baby delf feet as 5,7 cm long.

    5. Volks lists the feet as 6cm long and 2.5cm wide.

      • x 1
    6. I believe DSD feet are slightly longer and wider than Baby Delf. I have both and can get comparison photos tomorrow if I'm reminded. My Baby Delfs wear Sasha doll shoes pretty easily but DSD can be more of a struggle to get them to fit.

      • x 1
    7. @Sweetiemi, I use Volks SD/SD13 girl shoes for my Dear SD, plus some non-Volks SD-sized shoes, with no problem. I find that they fit well when I have them wear socks and stockings.

    8. It seems like I'm not going to have time for proper photos any time soon, so apologies for the low quality, but! I was able to get Hana, and she's now the DearSD version of my SDGr Belle, Sofie!

    9. No pictures needed, thank you! Would be great to know the difference in width though?

Luts list their MSD/baby delf shoes as 6-6,5 cm long, no width. Some types probably more flexible than others.

    10. Weird request, but does anyone have a photo of an F-62 on a DSD body? I have a beautiful F-62 on the way and while I am super excited to get my first fully 1/3 resin, I am also very curious to see how she'd look as a member of my little DSD family lol.

She is BEAUTIFUL! I have been waiting to see more photos of the girls that were on display and I gasped when yours came up on my Instagram feed!

    11. @snowgray : OMGOSH. Hana is sooo cute ToT I can see a mini-Belle in her features and her faceup! WOW... I am just so impressed by how this round of DearSD's turned out. I want them all ;~; Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful new girl!

    12. @lunar-dream304, I think Kikakoneko on IG has an F-62 head and a DSD body, if you wanted to ask her for photos? I don’t have F-62! And thank you!

@Dybbuk, thank you! I’m so glad she came home to me. She’s sooooo cute! I already have big plans for her (as soon as I get done with some crappy work stuff). I’m hoping this whole bunch will come back around again at Dolpa, so more people have a chance at them!

    13. @beamlette HOW DARE YOU (just joking :XD:) Yu is such a grail of mine and a dear Sd version is just the best thing I can think of! Yours is so gorgeous as well :abow:

      • x 2
    14. Very belatedly @beamlette I love your Yu's pose! She looks like a little dancer!

Also bringing my Una, little Amandine! She's wearing a dress I made from one of Ancienne's patterns, Orietta (but without the collar). Apparently a few days ago Ancienne pulled down all her pattern sales, though! :o She said she'll bring them back but I guess she was debating updates or not? But this pattern is great, I really like it!

    15. There is this wig that looks like it’s blonde curly mohair, shorter style with bangs.
Does anyone know who’s default it is? (I want to buy it) (Pictures from Volks, Una, Nono, Kira SwD)
      Thank you!

I think it looks different from this pictured with Kira, but maybe it’s the same? Is it her default wig?

      • x 1
    16. @Sweetiemi I believe the blonde mohair wigs in the pictures above are all the same model, and if I'm not wrong it came with some of the first releases of Una, Nono and Kira. I have one, I got it off Mercari Japan via proxy. I think Yahoo Japan auctions would also be a good place to look. Later releases of Una come with a similar style but in "normal" synthetic fiber.

Here's a picture of the mohair wig on my Una:

    17. :DThank you for answering! Your Una is beautiful.
With your information as well as info I found on SD-F-01 – Kira-Megu-Nana-Sara-Una! (Angel’s Base) and other sites, seems like at least the BTSSB (2017) sets came with mohair. I find it hard to tell from photos.
I do hope there will be more blonde mohair wigs from Volks, they are lovely!
How does one go about shopping on Y!J these days?

    18. @Sweetiemi Thank you! And I'm glad I could help :)
The easiest way to shop from Y!J is through a proxy service, the one I use is called Buyee.jp but I think there are several others as well. They will bid on the item on your behalf, have it shipped to their warehouse and then let you choose the shipping method from the warehouse to your address. There are some added fees of course but you'll be able to get an estimate of the total before bidding.

    19. Thanks again @rakelnaomi :):D

I am also wondering about the length of the brown default shoes that came with the My Dear Garden set (looks like they’re about to be released in a new set in black as well).
If they are truly DSD special size, or regular SD10.

    20. Hello everyone. I was wondering how do one obtain the new Dear SD Leo? I can't seem to find info on it anywhere. Are they usually released with the Dolpa items on Volks USA site? Thanks!

      • x 1
    21. Dear SD dolls are usually released as lottery sales during events. Currently, I believe Leo has only been available in Japan so far.

      • x 2
    22. I get it! I want a Leo so bad too! I have seen a couple on yahoo Japan, but super expensive so far :/

      • x 3
    23. Oh wow. I haven't looked yet on yahoo Japan. I hope we both can find one at a reasonable price.

      • x 1
    24. Gosh, I've made the mistake of learning about DSD Leo. Another DSD to pine over...

      • x 2
    25. Haha more Leo pinning :D

Since it was last discussed, has anyone cracked the shoe question? I wondered if anyone had found shoes that feet DearSD other than the Volks full set ones (which I have never one seen appear anywhere for sale. At all. Clearly people treasure them!) ?

      • x 1
    26. With the shoes, I did get my Megu a pair of shoes from Luts, I believe they were in the Delf Girl size, and I've found they fit well. There might be some room for socks, but to my eye they weren't horribly oversized (like so many of my slim minis' shoes are) and some of the styles fit the sort of younger kid character I'm aiming for with her. I think I got either the Dorothy or the Janes Cross style.

Unfortunately if you want sneakers or anything that might be limited; I haven't looked at the Delf Boy offerings to see if there's anything that might work there.

      • x 2
    27. @lorka I don’t have my dream girl Lana yet, but I looked over my shoes and realised sizes differ a lot. But one thing I noticed was just like @JaxxCapta says, the Luts Delf girl shoes probably looks like the right size (maybe with socks?). But there are very few pairs for sale on their website.
I have ”pretty candies” and they don’t really fit SD10 feet. Yet Volks shoes in SD10/13 size are generally oversized on SD10 feet.

      • x 1
    28. @JaxxCapta that’s an excellent pointer actually! They do a have a small selection, I’ll look into it! I just want my dolls to have something to stand in to take pics outside! And some classic Mary-Jane’s or something would do the trick!

@Sweetiemi Good to know! And I hope you get Lana soon, she looks amazing! I just ordered a white skin Coco! I am so excited to get that ray of sunshine :D

    29. On page 33 of this thread i posted a photo of my girl in a disney animators dress, she is wearing luts mary janes in that picture if that helps. They are a little bit roomy but not to much (like 5 mm or so)

      @lorka

Here’s Leeke, Delf, Volks, ”MSD” BABYSSB, and Carol’s shoes compared. I think I might sell the bigger ones (they are a bit big on SD10 as well, but looks good). DearSD is perfect for me but I don’t like when they have shoes too big. The two smaller pairs pictured barely fit SD10, so I think they’d be good for DSD :kitty2. My experience is that shoes do stretch a little bit if you leave them on.

    31. So cute! That’s super helpful. And I agree we get chubby babies, we don’t want them to look like they have giant feet

      • x 2
    32. I realised I didn’t introduce my (still shoe-less ) baby : Thorn! He is a DearSd Coco! I just got a massive crush and now here he is! The most photogenic doll I’ve had I think, he just looks lovely no matter what :love

    33. He's gorgeous like a cherub! Coco is a really sweet-faced sculpt too :love

    34. Thank you! Yes I think that face is perfect for DearSd babies!

      • x 1
    35. He looks so sweet, like a cotton candy cloud! I really love the way these colors complement each other :D It's such a nice photo

    36. Hi guys! This question might have been answered in Part 1 of the discussion but that part is no longer accessible so I'm asking here. Are DearSD heads compatible with SD bodies? I'm thinking so as I've seen people hybrid them but is there a difference between DSD heads and regular SD heads at all? Thanks!

    37. @AnnoDomini, they’re the same heads! DearSD heads can go on SD bodies. So far the only heads sculpted exclusively for DearSD were the Frozen girls, and even those could probably look okay as SD.

      • x 1
    38. Ahh thank you! That's the answer I needed. Makes sense since they probably have the same neck circumference and all.

    39. They match the SD10 (and SD13 girl) necks in regards to circumference.

      • x 1
    40. Thats good to know! Thanks you guys!

    41. Most of the DearSDs we have/had have heads we've swapped onto them from SD10 - Lieselotte, Morisawa Yu, Young Cecile, Ushiwakamaru.
I put my Ushi on a DearSD body and then years later won a DearSD Megohime who is the same sculpt in white resin.

    42. Love these two!! I think their faces lend themselves perfectly to DearSD!

And the use of the outfit set looks amazing!

    43. I bought the Melody.C Ribbon Rabbit outfit in pink (the skirt version, plus separate blouse) a while back, and was crossing my fingers really tightly that it would fit on my DearSD Nayu. It arrived today, and I think it works pretty well.

The main things to note are that the skirt ends up calf-length, and that the blouse sleeves are (understandably) very long... but as long as you don't mind the bunched effect when you push them up, which I think looks nice in this fabric, it's fine. The skirt is snug over the hips but it's a good fit around the waist. (I had a good look at the photos of the skirt from the back before buying, and since the back is elasticated, I figured it would be safe.)

    44. Oh my god those are so incredibly perfect, such perfect twins!

I think she’s incredibly precious! I’ve been wondering about those dresses for DearSD for a while, it’s awesome to see it realised!

    45. Gosh that is cute, looks great!

    46. @St. James, those two look adorable... but also like troublemakers in those outfits! :sneaky

@Rhian, your girl looks adorable! Her hair and eyes really suit the colors in the outfit. So mad at myself for not getting it! I'm glad to know it works for DearSD!

Some drive-by spam of my midi-Sofie. She got literally booped on the nose by a stranger moments after this :o

    47. I'll be honest...

I'd boop her nose too. Super cutie!!

    48. The online members website says there will be new DearSD outfits at Kyoto Dolpa, as well as a social media campaign! The text says bonnets and flared girly dresses, and the teaser image includes either a tall teapot or a coffee pot and a mug. Maybe something kissaten themed?

      • x 6
    49. Aaaaaa the hype is real!

    50. Hello, may somebody know that any tan skin body(RL Holiday size/luts baby delf size) could be matched to Volks Sunlight(or Tan) Skin?
Since I hope to find a body match with my DSD head. Thank you so much!!!

      • x 1
    51. Which head is it? I find most Volks heads too large on the other big baby bodies. hopefully you can come across past releases of tan DSDs or the latest Maya to fit your baby’s head!

    52. Lana? Does anyone here have her?
When I first saw F97, I fell in love (she’s perfect!) and I knew I wanted to DSD her. Shortly thereafter I heard the news about Lana :D and have been waiting and trying to get her ever since.
Volks F97 one-offs show the sculpts incredible versatility. She reminds me of many dolls I adore, like MSD F18 and Kurumi.

I hope and think she’ll be released at LA dolpa.

    53. My doll mold is nayu/nao, which is ordered in tan skin during the special FCS ording.

    54. My friend and I took our Elsas out for photos! Her girl is in pink and mine is in yellow. It was fun to see how different they seem, even with the same default faceup!

    56. My WS Mai, Ivy, has come home from the spa looking extremely cute! I'm also really pleased with how this dress fits. It has elastic at the back, so while Volks shows it on MSDs, it still fits DearSD well. I hope they keep up this style of flexible tailoring!

    57. What a captivating face! Love the colours of this fabric, and your styling of Ivy, also. I find clothes for SDM that DSD can wear to be most adorably proportioned. The sleeves are nice and cute instead of oversized.

    58. edit 2: thanks to my husband I can link again :XD:

I got to welcome Nayu into the doll family yesterday at Doll's Party 5 in LA!

    59. I have a two questions about this line.
      1. Why does Volks limit the accessibility even though they bring them back for events or lotteries every so often? Wouldn’t they make more money if they make the dear sd as a normal/unlimited product? Follow-up. How sought out are they in general?
      2. What about them makes the resell value so high and so sparse on the second hand market?

      • x 2
    60. To give my two cents, Volks never really seem to care about trends or maximising profits. The only standard, ie readily available dolls they sell at the moment are SD10 girls (solid torso) and SDM girls.
Likewise, only SD10 girls and boys, SDGr boys and SDM girls and boys are available through year-round JP FCS, while popular lines like Yo-SD, Gr girls, SD16 and SD17 are not.

DearSDs were likely made as Volks making their very occasional response to the Big Baby trend, ala Rosen Lied Holiday's Child, etc.
The limited fullsets may be expensive on the secondhand market, but I see the bodies regularly go for about ¥45000, and because they use a regular SD sized head you can hybrid your own DearSD with any other head. The only real limiting factors I see are the hand parts, which were available on Volks's JP/International site for months.

Hope some of this info was helpful!
