Volks AllTenshis discussion (Yo-Tenshi, Sei-Tenshi,Rei-Tenshi)

Mar 18, 2012

    1. Ohh, those! Y'know, I keep forgetting to ask you to order me one in EID size. :XD: If they come in x-tiny size, so much the better.

    2. St. James I have that stand for the seis. Works great for meetups. The other alternative is the round chairs that are cellphone holders at sold at Claire's purplekaren posted a photo with them earlier in the thread. I like the pink wig on her.

      I love Potnia's style.

Berlin says aprons are for Blacksmiths. Had to find him a hammer.

      He's the twins precocious cousin.

      • x 2
    3. That hammer! :D Great, now Nava will want one.
Berlin is a little blue badass in that Volks apron. Oh jeez, and ittybitty Converses come in Sei size too??

Jimmy has a cellphone chair from Claire's, too. Of course it has skulls on it. ^^ It's a few years old. Do they actually still make cellphone chairs? I thought they went out after cellphones stopped being really small.

(And since nobody ever puts their phone down anymore-- what do they need phone-rests for? xD)

      • x 1
    4. I love Jimmy's chair it's so very him.

Blythe size converse work well they come with human size lace. I take them off and eventually, lace them with something of a more appropriate scale. The hammer was a keychain I ordered from amazon.

    5. Easter & bunny.

Easter was a rescue doll I found in Y!J and she arrived last Easter. It was interesting project to disassemble her and give her a faceup and blush her wings

    6. Easter and Bunny are so cute together!

Has anyone tried Yo hands on Sei-Tenshi? Is the wrist ball significantly larger? It occurred to me that it would be cute to get mine some other hands that could actually do things, and I was thinking that the Yo-SD hands from SQlabs could work since they come with wrist balls attached.

    7. Sei hands look to be way smaller than Yo hands, but then I've never seen the two in the same room before... You should bring the little squirt over to try on Nava's hand collection! I've got a pile of both SQLab & Volks Yo option-hands.

    8. I just wanted to show a comparison between Yo-SD Suzuna and Sei-Tenshi B's heads. I've always thought they had very similar sculpts, but there are definitely some noticeable differences!

    9. St. James: the wrists of a sei tenshi are so much slimmer than yos. They are almost half as wide. I wish they did offer hand options for them. From the dolls I have the dollzone( I have DongDong), the Imda 2.1, and 21 cm dd- Anne have the closest wrist ball size to fit the wrist socket but the resin match and hand scale are a bit off.

Does Potnia have screw eye or really long almost paperclip like hook in her wrist? I noticed depending on when the Sei was made they have different ways for the hand to attach. The latter allows for only rotational. Ot bending movement of wrist :(

My two yos have SQLab hands and Volks hands mix.

Bunnywink: nice to see comparison of the two similar family mold. I love their faceups the look like sisters

      • x 2
    10. Ah, thanks for that! I realized after asking that the Yo hands from SQLabs don't have wrist balls, so I wouldn't be able to use them anyway. Potnia has hooks that are cast into the wrist, so there is only rotational movement, but not much because the hook is too broad for the oval shape of the channel in the arm. :/ I keep thinking about squeezing the hook into a smaller loop, but I haven't tried it out of fear of either breaking it off or cracking the resin. Not having the option to replace a broken part is tough!

    11. "Come on, Komame, let's go play..."

Virtue was an ebay rescue a few months ago. I am so happy I was able to bring her home!

    12. Good thing you "rescued" Virtue, hello lolita -- that is such a darn cute pic, down to her outfit and just-her-size Komame :3nodding::aangel:

    13. Thanks, beamlette!! I shared the photo really quick last night because I had just taken it, but I also wanted to share some information I have found out on sizing for rei tenshi.

Wigs: Every 3/4 "puki puki" wig I have tried has been too small. The Volks Dollfie Plus wigs for their 27cm line fit perfectly.
Clothes: This is of course variable based on maker, but in my experience puki puki items are too small. Lati White SP items fit very well, so do Pipos Enfant or Mini Cheese Mouse.
Shoes: Barbie Kelly shoes fit perfectly, as do puki puki sized shoes.

Hope this helps in the search for rei tenshi answers!! :)

    14. In the new house!

    15. Wow! She's adorable!
I have to say that I'm really grateful that I have the capacity to resist having more than one Tenshi. I am usually satisfied with one or two dolls from any given company except Volks, but so far one tiny from them has been sufficient.

    16. charming kids

    17. Oh, looks like this thread wasn't updated for quite a while... But I'm finally ready to show you my two latest Rei-Tenshies! Here are Dianthus and Delphinium and since there are two of them for more close-up pictures please visit my blog (link in my signature) :)

    18. I finally uploaded some pictures of my Sei Tenshi, Grace.

She has hands with a wire bent into a long loop. Looks like 14 gauge brass maybe. I've been thinking maybe the wire could just be cut off and a higher gauge wire soldered in place.

    19. Sorry to revive this thread, but I have a sei-tenshi on his or her way home, and I had a few questions that I haven't been able to find the answers for.

Mainly, do sei-tenshi's share the same wig size as YoSD, or do they wear a size smaller (is around 7~7.5 too big?)? I'm also wondering about eyes. I assume 16mm are too big for them?

    20. Congrats on your Sei, @revien !
I have 16mm eyes in mine, but it might depend on the head mold you have. C has very wide eyes. Yo wigs are too large. I ended up using a 5-6in natural mohair, I think? I bought it at a BJD swap meet so I don't know by whom it was made.

    21. @St. James Thank you! C is the one that looks like Yo Suzuna, correct? Good to know that 16mm will most likely work out. I'll have to check into wigs for sure, then.

I have to admit, I'm not very familiar with all the molds and sizing. I would have thought there'd be a bit more English information about them by this point. I'll have to actually put the effort into looking at Japanese sources later. But this is the guy I bought: Which as far as I can tell is a pretty common sei sculpt.

    22. I forget where I found info on which mold letter was which, I may have just pieced it together from DoA discussion and the Sei-Tenshi database. They all have a letter inside the head A-G. C is this one, which is not the droopy-eyed Suzuna, but I don't know if another doll is considered a direct equivalent. Potnia is wearing 16mm Oscar eyes.

    23. My little guy came in today. I wasn't expecting it to be so much cuter in person than online. I haven't been able to keep my eyes off him!

I'll need to at least change his eyes later when I'm not feeling so lazy about pulling out glue from his head. He's apparently the F sculpt.

    24. Good evening everyone! I'm reviving this thread because myself and a few others working on Another Heaven are looking for more information on on Sei and Rei Tenshi sculpts.

What we're looking for is the sculpt names (the letter inside the Sei/Rei Tenshi's head) and clear facial photographs.

I've already had a ton of help from the Japanese community, but we're still missing a few sculpts. If you think you'd be interested in providing the above information we'd love to hear from you!

    25. I only have the one, but I'm happy to help! :)

      • x 1
    26. That would be fantastic!

I forgot to mention it in my first post, but for anyone concerned, we won't use your photos in the site unless you give us express permission to do so. Otherwise we only use it as a visual guide to cross reference the sculpts. ♥

    27. Hey, y'all :D Is there a doll that shares clothes with Sei Tenshi? I think I had seen somewhere that Realfee are similar size.

    28. They're pretty close, but RF has slightly different measurements for the upper torso depending on gender. Hips are pretty much the same, waist is 1cm smaller for girl, 0.5cm smaller for the boy, and around 0.5cm smaller in the chest for both girl/boy body. The biggest difference is 4cm in height with the Sei being taller, but that wouldn't matter much for a dress. If you're looking to fit the Sei Tenshi using RF clothing, one obstacle is the wings...the outfit has to be designed to work around them, because they're not removable.

      Hope this helps.

    29. I think the tenshi dolls are so cute! Would love to win one someday

    30. Interesting! How woud hybriding look like on a realfee body? Do you think the neck would fit?

    31. In case anyone wonders this is how a sei looks on a YOSD body

    33. Your Sei looks like my Delaney! They must be the same head mould.

    34. Yeeeees!!! They are both the F letter :D (cutest sei ever, love your Delaney)

    35. Oh how fun! I wonder if the new Tenshi will have a chonkier DearSD style body or something. It would be nice if they could actually stand up on their own. :XD:

    36. Sad to see the old ones go (and I don’t want to see what it will do second hand prices) but I think these little guys deserve an update! Agree @St. James standing and maybe better posing. I wonder if they will change the name too?

    37. I'd love if the wings were retooled to be magnetic so they don't have the detachment issue I've seen on several. Definitely would be on board with any posing/standing improvements.

      • x 1
    38. Magnetic wings would be great just for the sake of dressing them!

A little Tenshi found his way to me yesterday.:chibi

Is there any reference or database or way to identify the sculpt? I looked inside and nothing! No letter or number to identify and nothing on the CoA. Too bad Volks doesn't have a book on all the different ones they've made over the years.

      • x 5
    40. @pris84 Sooo cute!! I don't recognize the face, but maybe it's just the much better face-up than they used to get? Mine has a letter C carved into the head, but perhaps they no longer letter them? Would love a wee guidebook to all the ones they've made, but I can't think why they'd ever want to publish one.

      • x 1
    41. Thanks @St. James !! :chibi Yes, the face up is definitely a 'rank up'. I'm going to check again but I can't see any sort of marking. Yeah ... it probably doesn't make sense for them to publish a book as I'm not sure they want that info out there? Does it matter anymore if the info is out there? I guess if someone is ambitious and a bit of a detective, they might be able to piece something together. The geek in me just wants to know and have a hard, official copy to enjoy! Actually, I would love to see a complete Volks book (series) of every mold, body, etc ... of every limited, fcs, and tenshi they ever made. Historical Volks! Now that would be something! :abambi:

    42. A catalogue raisonné for Volks would be pretty amazing.

    43. Hi everyone!

So I just recently had a Rei Tenshi find her way to my BJD family, but I have no clue what clothes fit her.:sweat
      [IMG]

I found these overalls I commissioned Spampi, I think, it was loooong ago, I don't remember if it was for a Pukifee either, and they're too big.

Lol at least they're kinda easy to adjust and she still look cute in them!:whee:

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    44. Hello All! Gosh, it's been such a long time since I cruised these hallowed pages. My interest in my BJD's started up this past weekend when I started taking my very dusty boys down from the shelves that were their homes for the last 15 + years. As I washed them and set them away safely except for a few treasured Volks Boys, my Sei Tenshi my Yo-Tenshi, My FCS Daeron and the first YO-SD Boy I ever got, Rengemaru. There was always a hole in my heart, and in my collection, and I had given up many years ago due to just unluck and RIDONKULOUS secondary prices of ever filling that hole. Fast forward to Sunday night late and I am wandering around Mandarake looking at Tamagotchis. I've played them non stop in one incarnation or another since my first Japanese one in 1996.

Anyway... after not finding anything I needed, I decided to search for Volks Super Doffies, and the one I found on the bottom of page one made my heart stop. I looked at the price, I did the conversion and gasped, aloud. I consulted my adult daughter who is my collecting and Mad Disney Princess Partner in "Treat Yourself!" She gave her blessing. So, a quick purchase was made, and 72 hour later, "he" is here. He is sitting in the palm of my hand and there are tears of joy in my eyes. He's perfect, absolutely perfect. Brown hair and purple eyes, and a little hand held out asking for a Cookie. I've named him "Kukkī" the Japanese word for cookie. Welcome to my Resin Family, and the hole in my heart that was held open until it was time for us to find each other....

      Kukki — Postimages

So.... yeah. I'm back into BJDs again, going to thin the Harem a bit, but gonna cruise the boards and get caught up. Thanks for reading, thanks for letting me share.

    47. Congrats, @CathyM !!

Kewpie is a total cutie!! :XD:

What clothes fit Rei Tenshis? I still have no clue how to dress her. :pout:

    48. The ears came with an Azone Pure Neemo doll I bought

I am still trying to find out. The net skirt is from a Lati Yellow dress set, and the leggings were for a Pukifee (I think. I've had them for a long time)
