hello all! I've seen a few new posts on ventilated wigs, but I couldn't find anything on actual wig cap material. Seems like it's wig season or something lol. I was going to start dying my wig fibres this weekend but realized I should probably wait until I have the wig cap assembled. I'm curious what everyone's favourite material is to use for wig caps? I've seen some amazing wigs using non-stretch tulle and some wig caps that use stretch swiss lace. I'm leaning towards the stretch swiss lace, just because the head I'm working on is so small,(15cm circumference) I think stretch lace would give a better fit and look less bulky, however, I'm not sure where to order it from. what's your favourite material for wig caps, and where do you order it from? thanks! ~Maud
I have a piece of ventilating fabric, it is non stretchy and similar to tulle. I got it from the makeup department at a local theatre so cannot tell you where to order from.
that's smart! I was looking at some of that but wasn't sure if the holes would be small enough. I ended up ordering some swiss net off of amazon (unfortunately, I try to not order from them as much as possible). I might see about getting some tulle as well if this stuff doesn't turn out.
The swiss netting you can get online IS great stuff. The tulle I use is kind of more diamond weave? It's not total squares as much as they're angled. Still in the tulle section. Just not that coarse netting that you can also find, but the stuff more meant to go against your skin.
