A day or two later. Previous chapter can be seen HERE... Trevor: Duncan, do you have Maura's phone number? Duke: *pauses*... What?! Trevor: You heard me. Do you have her number? Duke: Sure I do, but... *snort* Hahaha!! What do YOU want with it?? Trevor: Give it to me, would you? Duke: *laughs* You have GOT to be kidding me! What makes you think -- Trevor: Don't be an idiot. Just give me the number. Duke: Well, okay, but... if she gets mad at you, you didn't get it from me! *laughs again* *phone rings* Maura: ?? Maura: Hello? Trevor: Hello, Maura? Maura: Yes? Who is this? Trevor: It's Trevor. Do you have a minute? Maura: *thinks* Why in the world is he calling ME? Maura: Um, sure. What is it? Trevor: I was wondering if you were free a little later today. I'd like to see you about something. Nothing urgent, but it IS serious. Are you available? Maura: Er... sure, I guess. How about around 1:30 at the club? In the café? Trevor: Perfect. I'll see you then. Maura: I have NO idea what's going on here. Trevor: Maura. Thanks for meeting me. Maura: Of course. Trevor: Really, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I know I'm not your favorite person in the world. Maura: *blushes* That's not true! I -- I... Trevor: *smiles* It's all right, Maura. It's not about me, anyway. It's about Maxim. Maura: *nonchalantly* Why do you need to talk to me about Maxim? He's not my concern any more. Trevor: Maura... you don't have to play games with me. I plan on being direct with you about this, and I'd appreciate it if you did the same with me. Maura: *huff* Are you implying -- Trevor: No, I'm saying it outright. We both know how you feel about Maxim. And that's why I'm here. Trevor: Listen. He wants to move on. He's ready to end this phase of his life and make some progress, but he can't, because you keep going to him whenever you feel you need him. He's never going to be able to let you go if you keep doing that. Maura: I do no such thing! Trevor: Oh really? Then how did he know so quickly what happened between you and Duncan? You went right to him! Maura:.... Trevor: Maura... you divorced him because you didn't want him any more. That's true, right? So... let the poor guy go. Stop running to him whenever you have a problem, or for whatever other reasons you have. Simple as that. Let him GO. That's all I wanted to say. I'm sorry if I'm interfering, but... he's my friend. And I know he won't say it to you, so -- Maura: Trevor... you're right. Trevor: I... I'm what? Maura: *resignedly* You're right. I've been doing just what you said, and I didn't realize it. Thank you for pointing it out to me. And I appreciate your honesty. Trevor: I... well, you're welcome, Maura. You're very welcome.
Trevor: Okay... that was weird. Later that afternoon: Maxim: Trevor! Trevor: *looks up* Maxim? Is something wrong? Maxim: Thank you. Thank you so much. I don't know what you did, or how you did it... but I can't thank you enough. Trevor: Wh-what did I do? Maxim: I don't know what you said to Maura, but... she wants me back. Well... she wants to give us another try, to see if we should get back together. And I'm sure you had something to do with it. You're the best friend I've ever had in my life, and now I know why. Trevor: But Maxim...! Maxim: I can't stay, I have to get back to her. But let's catch up soon! And thank you again! Trevor: I do NOT know what just happened here! Trevor: But I'll be damned if I didn't do SOMETHING right!! *laughs* Linda S. galatia9
Just read the whole story in one go! Very nice storytelling and I'm feeling very invested in how everything will turn out for all of them. (And Marjorie let her hair down like in Dukes imagination - nice detail!)
@RenDremel, thank you so much for reading my stories! I'm reposting them this weekend because I'm updating the old dead Photobucket photo links. I want things to turn out well for all of them, but it's so enjoyable for their trip to be a little rocky. LOL! I especially love Maxim and Maura together, I think they are "meant to be".
