Unpopular/Unknown BJD Doll Company

Feb 7, 2014

    1. I've been loving MaskcatDoll lately. I have 2 of her tiny girls, and I have my eye on a couple of her bigger girls, too. <3

    2. cherry castle -- I wish I went for that adolescent tiny, pointed chin look. I would buy Stika. Be Yours -- I really like Be Yours Kikyou, Olive and Cathaya. The face-up artist have done stunning work on them.

I think they're both on SWDoll too. It seems like Legend Doll has dolls from Be Yours that SWDoll doesn't have and vice versa.

    3. I definitely have to second MaskcatDoll and Be With You/Dollsbe. They are two of my favorite companies. The sculpts are just wonderful and they are so nice too. ^__^

    4. Winterrain Studio?

I just preordered their Cheong and Jin heads a few days ago, prior to which I tried to look for owner photos of their dolls but couldn't find anything or any discussion about their dolls... which is such a shame. Their boys look really cute~

    5. Domadoll, for sure, is not well known. She makes some very interesting dolls. Like her Okja sculpt- a mature, chubby tiny. Her backstory is she's a super hero that makes skinny models gain weight. Very cute!

    6. I have to add AdaDan's (or L'amoire de Dandan) she only has two sculpts right now but she is very talented! Nightingale is an awesome sculpt, very cute and different, I love it!

    7. I only know of one person with a Grey Plumage doll! They're so cute too!

    8. Yas! I love Winterrrain Studioยดs sculpts <3

For me, I think Huajing doll and SC-doll are fairly unknown :3

    9. YIKES! This site has been HACKED. Beware. When I clicked on the page link for their featured doll I got some really nasty porn insead.

    10. VaniDoll! I stumbled upon them last year and I still haven't seen a single owner picture, even though I know some people have bought their heads since then.

    11. I fell in love with Nightingale when I saw Ada Dan's notice here on DoA and ordered her immediately. It's almost time for the heads to be completed. I can't wait!

    12. I love Leledoll!! I can't even remember how I found the site but they are really cute. I've never seen anyone who actually has one though!

I would also like to mention 2D dolls! They are anime style and NO ONE has them!! Or only a few people do! They are really cute though! http://www.acbjd.com/2d-doll-c-394.html?zenid=b8a985399b49c7dbf407d4db2fbff817

    13. Oh yes! MaskcatDoll have beautiful sculpts!

    14. So, the larger companies definitely have a huge following, but what about those lesser-known companies that just have the perfect face, body, or service?

This can be a thread to celebrate the smaller and lesser known companies.

What are your favorite small companies? On a similar vein, what are your favorite unpopular or underused sculpts?

    15. Roserin Doll, Kappa, Dearminedoll, Miracledoll, Clover Doll

    16. I really like MaskcatDoll, they're not such a big company, since it only has one sculptor, but still produce high-quality, beautiful sculpts with fantastic customer service.

If you want to find more lesser known companies though, there is also this thread:/threads/unpopular-unknown-bjd-doll-company.612680/

Theres a few pages of smaller/unknown companies there ^__^

    17. My favourite lesser known company is La Compagnie des Radis โ™ฅ

    18. My favorite "unkown" BJD companies are two that I discovered towards the late months of last year. The main reason I fell in love with the two studios (in both cases I believe they are both a one man studio) are some face-ups that made me really love their sculpt and got interested in their other dolls. Now I am going to keep an eye on both of these studios for any future releases!

    20. I've ended up with a pair of micros from Dream High (A small, one-person studio mentioned by another poster up-thread) as well as two girls from FectDoll, one of the smaller Chinese companies.

For sheer, flat-out unique quirkiness in a doll, though... the winner has to be my Bishonen House Steve. Donn's little dude has more attitude per cm than pretty much anyone else in my crew.

    21. Here's my little centaur by Joanne Callender. She is hand-flocked and painted by the artist, and came with the tiny flocked bunny. She's tiny, around 6" tall... All her dolls are pretty much ooak, sculpted and painted by her.

      Website:
      Callander Dolls
(many of her dolls are ot on doa because of joints and maybe wigs and eyes being fixed, I think, but some should be OK).

    22. Little Rebel. I currently own Aleksander and Hachi and my Andre shipped today! My sister owns Shinji. I think they're all very unique and interesting. One day, I might aim for a Jelle or Sarang. Awesome dolls with awesome customer service. The only downside is that they're released in small batches during limited times, but that also makes them more special.

Another is BlueBloodDoll. I used to own six of them, I've sort of moved away from that aesthetic, but they're beautiful dolls with nice resin and gorgeous bodies, and the service is very personal and fast.

I would highly recommend either of these companies, for both service and product quality.

    23. I adore Mushroom Peddler's work but a good handful of their sculpts are off-topic... There are also Mewie Fish's Creatures Dolls and Lillycat/cerisedolls who I've seen a few posts about here and there, but I really like the shapes of their sculpts and they aren't really popular as far as I can tell so I feel they are worth mentioning...
I suppose Aileendoll can get more love even though they have discussion threads already. And the only one I can think of that I've actually bought a doll from haha. My avatar is a special edition of one of their pet-sized dragons, Ashes. Most of their larger and more humanoid dolls are limited only though. (Maybe all? They have all been sold out for a while...)

    24. I love Lillycat's sculpts. <3

    25. I'm going to have to echo someone here and say ipopo is unrated. I fell in love with their Weichen sculpt. :D Miracle Doll as well are not seen a lot around here.

    26. SIO2

the artist is work at Dikadoll & 2DDOLL, too.

    27. Raccoondoll bjd are beautiful and it is a new company

    28. Harucasting is a resin casting company that is working on releasing their first dolls in a few weeks!! I got one of their heads as an event/giveaway prize, and the quality is absolutely amazing. They post a lot of photos on both Flickr and Tumblr if you want to check them out, since I don't know if they have an "official" website yet

    29. this unknown BJD company also have some beatuiful dolls:)

    30. I recommend only-doll and Mystic kids. My first resin doll was an only-doll Kexin and she was beautiful, she had a lovely skin tone and no seam lines. I also recommend Angel Fantasy. I once owned AF Betty and she was very pretty. Many people have never heard of them which is a shame. For lesser known Chinese BJD companies I recommend you check out the seller Jeeryama on ebay ;)who is an official agent for many of them.

    31. Flowerandjunior, i dont see many of their scuplt here but they are amazing, my Yabi and Kaka head has send out and i'm very impatient to got them.

    32. I just looked!!! So cute!

    33. Abio Angel isn't very popular anymore, considering the company no longer exists.

    34. Oasisdoll only has one sculptor and maybe five sculpts total, but their heads are absolutely beautiful, and so expressive.

    35. Dust of Dolls and Popovy Sisters :love

    36. Ash Plume aka Gray Plumage. They even spell their company name wrong, as "Gary Plumage" in their CoA, but I am thinking about getting their head.

    37. Xaga Doll is definitely underrated. Their sculpts are so sweet and some of their larger dolls are really handsome. The bodies look great and proportional as well, and their knees look so smooth/natural despite being double jointed. They even have an SD for an SD (1/6) :O

    38. I really like BeYours, I haven't gotten one yet but I'm going to order one soon hopefully ~

    39. I've never seen anyone mentioning Yukidoll by Yuliya Yuzhakova. Her website is in Russian only but she does sell her dolls overseas. So far she has five girls, both around 47cm, but she has been working on a male doll too. I especially love the 'Yuki' sculpt. :aheartbea

    40. I've recently fallen in love with the Myou dolls, they are completely beautiful and in a great price range. I also really like Maskcat's sculpt Evelyn, she's completely stunning.

    41. My first boy is from a company called Dream Realm that apparently folded quite a few years ago. It doesn't seem to have been open for very long or produced very many dolls.

    42. Dollpamm is a great example of a small company with big potential. I love the Loli and Shota bodies (great hybrid and modding potential and the body names are offputting too, let's face it). The problem I see are the faces of some of their dolls take away from the body's aesthetic. I think if the faces were less stylized and they changed the names of their bodies, popularity will soar.

I have two of their Loli bodies and I love the size for my Dollzone BB heads.

    43. Do you mean *less* stylized? Because the only ones I've seen are extremely stylized!

    44. I meant less. Stupid tablet!

    45. Oh, that's okay! I just thought - wow, have they changed a lot at some point? :)

    46. SiO2 and Echo Town are some really neat companies! I've never met anyone with an Echo Town doll, and just one with an SiO2 Bleater :)

    47. I don't see a lot of talk about DayDream Daydream - the world of Chloe Page
Same artist as Blue Fairy I believe and they have a section on LUTS but is empty lol I own a Sally and she's lovely <3
