Unoss Discussion Thread

Dec 8, 2009

    1. I haven't seen the cat ear set for sale pretty much ever. :/

    2. That's what I was afraid of. I think I read they were sold at a convention way back when? So they must be SURE limited in numbers... and I'd wager what few there are might still be mostly in Japan?

    3. Hello everybody!
Soon I will have a very joyful event - will appear the U-Noss Seina. I wanted her mad and the dream comes true! :D
I really look forward to seeing this beautiful girl! :love

Plus I would like to pre-sew a wardrobe for her ... but the network nowhere found the yardstick of her non-standard figure...:frownyblush:
      Can someone help out ???
      Interested here are these:

      Height :
      Girth of Head :
      Width of Shoulder :
      Girth of Chest :
The length from back-neck point to waist (back length):
The length from the bust point to waist line (front length) :
The length from the neck point to bust point :
      Girth of Heap :
The length of sleeves (to the wrist) :
Girth of Upper arm : thickest part
The length from the bottom to waist :
the Length of pants (from the waist line to the knee) :
      The length of leg :
The length of skirt (from the waist line to the knee) :
Toltal length (from the neck point to the tip of toe) :
      The length of foot :
      Width of Foot :

And another question, can someone tell me where now for the girl's shoes you can search for?
I read the topic with shoes, but those links have long been out of date ... all of a sudden who will share new and own experiences?
Or is it better for me to sew shoes for her myself? :sigh

In advance thanks to all responded! :)

    4. zombiemon, Oh! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :fangirl:
      Shoes are very cool!!! :love

    5. She's stunning @Bzika :D I finally got an Unoss this year too, after being a grail doll for years and years. They're such fantastic dolls. :love

    6. shinibun,
      Congratulations! :D
      When show it?? :wiggle
Naomi also appeared this year! :dance
I bought it to play with it myself ... but it was not there! One guy from our family suddenly decided to fall in love with her and now does not give! Like this! :sigh
Therefore I look forward to the second happiness, I very much hope that it will come! :shudder

Thank you for your delight in her address!:love

    7. @Bzika Hopefully soon! :) I'm waiting on some clothes from Alice's Collection to see if they fit. I also need to fix one of her soft eyelashes that I somehow managed to squish. :huh?: And oh no! He needs to give Naomi back to you. :x

    8. shinibun,
I think that your girl's things will certainly fit)) They have the same size as Volks SD10 /13! ;)
And with eyelashes, you also correct the situation)) Eyelashes are the most simple that you can fix! :3nodding:

      Ha ha! :XD:
He does't think so yet! :aninja:
He probably written on his face: "Mine - Not give!" :eusa_naug

    12. I worked on my Unoss, gave her a new faceup and modified her thigh joints so she can sit unaided. I love her more than ever!

    13. I'd love to see the mods you did to the thighs. Also I love your horns.

    14. @Edo Elric I just added small ledges on the back of the thigh joint similar to the ledges on some of the 1/4 scale Unoa dolls, for example 1.5 girls. I used Milliput.

    15. oh thats a great idea!

I went on vacation in july and took my Unoss with me. Didn't actually have time to take her out really though xD

    17. Where do you all get your Unoss shoes from? I'd like to get my girls some.

    18. Rinoa, Hi!
      1. My Unoss has boots with LUTS, these: Welcome to LUTS - Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) company
but if you study this line "Senior Delf Boy" carefully, you can find other options for yourself! (:

That's just on her these boots:

      2. And there are shoes with rRabit, these: SD13&17 *Tassel Shoes* RSH002 Black - 1/3 Boy (SD13/17) - rRabit Shoes
But other options there too can be chosen! In section 1/3 Boy (SD13/17)

    19. Thank you so much! May I also ask which shoes these are in this photo? Would love some winter boots!

    20. These are sd17 shoes i got off ebay.
They are a bit big but for the style of them, i think they can pass for fitting lol

    24. Hi, I have a question of conscience for people on this thread and you would help me out a great deal by answering it either here or in a pm i am fine with it.

A while ago i bought an Aika Unoss from dollyteria and i love her. She is in pristine condition and has her original face up (and thus the sculpted eyebrows and lashes)
Is it okay for me to remove the face-up and maybe even the sculpted lashes and eyebrows?
A part of me says no offcourse not you barbarian! But i would like her better with a different face up, i might be able to work around the sculpted eyebrows but the lashes are more difficult. What would you do?

    25. @allanieew I personally would say go for it, she's your doll. But if you want to assuage your conscience perhaps you could put out an offer to trade your original head w sculpted details for anyone's without, in case there is someone out there who just desperately wants that. If no one has offered to trade you even here in the Unoss thread, I think you're well within your rights to mod your own faceplate. Hope this helps and you end up with the doll you want <3

    26. @ allanieew ! I think T4124 have a good idea, trade your sculpted head for a modified one, I have a sanded unoss but I'm wondering if color ( a little yellowing) will fit with your head and yours with mine ^^ Pictures usually don't show the real color...
      How to do?

    27. I am afraid that it's to late for that....... She has been modified and i am in the process of deyellowing the rest of her (i tried it with oxi etc, but that didn't work so sanding it was, and i had to, since her upper thighs where discolorered by the outfit she was wearing) It took me months to decide if i would and should but in the end i just bit the bullet and did it (only last week) at first only the eyelashes but as i was sanding she became really pale in comparisson and i realised i could never keep te detail in her eyebrows so sadly they had to come off as well. Still tweaking it though.

Has anyone got pictures of the original maids outfit? She came wearing a maids outfit and had the elusive cat blouse and ears and tail and bell necklace. So i am gueswing the maids outfit is original as well but i am not sure.

    28. good luck with your restoration
I don't have any maids outfit, I got my doll with her original robot wear. All I've ever seen are black (Aika) or white (Sienna) outfits.

    29. She is an Aika and she came with her original box, horns and black eye (still sealed) but not her original clothing. She came dressed in a maids outfit and a few pages back or so i read about a maids outfit beeing offered at some time.
I allready knew about the cat outfit. ( which was also still sealed and was once offered for a specific dollpa .) So i was wondering if the cat outfit was a very limited one time offer, could it be that the maids outfit is also original, but i can't seem to find any photo's of it.

    30. I don't know well the history of these dolls but I had both and I received first Sienna with make up by "Illness Illusion" (sanded) with all original set then I bought Aika (sanded) in original outfit with lace scarf but without box. Then I sold Aika because I had to donwsize my collection and love the IllnessIllusion face-up ^^ here are pics of my both girls :

    31. This is my girl, without her sculpted eyebrows and lashes, i am pretty chuffed with her face up, it's not perfect, (the eyebrows are rather high on her forehead) but i think it looks good on her. She also has a full body Bush. For now she is still nameless, but i am shure that won't last long.

[IMG]20200128_141709 by floor wagemakers, on Flickr

She came with al her original stuff (box etc) except her black dress shoes and socks, but with the black cat ears etc, she also had the white blouse still in it's original packaging, with papers and a black maid outfit with a white heart shaped apron.

    32. I meant to post an update in my box opening thread from the summer, but I posted in the wrong thread, oopsies. Well, I do have a Unoss, so I don't wanna leave you guys hanging:

      Here's Ai!

I was able to get her and the Unoss book. It'd be pretty awesome to find the kitty set, but I won't hold my breath. I was actually thinking of making her some ears to 3D print since there really aren't any option parts for her.

    33. Hello!!
I came back to my family home where I had to leave my 1/3 girls (Volks Unoss & Madoka) behind when I moved away and was motivated to give them some love and care since they are SO old and have become slightly yellowed over time...

I wanted to get some new clothes for my girls and went through the threads here but have found alot of the links are no longer working since the companies have dissolved or changed their doll model names... Also before when I was into the hobby there weren't as many amazing resources and shops as there are now!

So, I was wondering what size shoes U-noss wears and where I may find them? I am seeing alot of SD13 boy shoes pop up in discussions but since there are new, larger dolls (ie. SD16, SD17, Iple HID/EID, etc), I'd really love to get her boots if anyone knows if that is possible...I know her calves are bigger than SD13 boys so I'm not sure if she can do that...

Also, I think I read that she wears 18mm eyes? What size eyes do you use for Unoss? And where do you purchase your eyes?

      Thank you so much! <3

      • x 1
    34. The only cute shoe I have had reliably fit my Unoss is this style from Rrabit. The difficulty in finding shoes for them lies not only in their calves being wide but in how wide their feet are at the toe too. I actually owned mine for over 10 years before I found a pair I liked for her that would also fit. I suspect this style may fit as well, but I've yet to receive it. For what it's worth, every other Rrabit heel for 65~ish cm boys that I've bought has been too narrow. I've bought one of most of their designs in hopes that they'll fit her lol :whee:
I have some old heeled knee-high boots from Luts (I think ssdf size?) that fit her too, but I think they're quite clunky looking. Honestly the best advice I can give you is to pay attention to the width of the shoe because even if it'll fit them length wise, it probably won't fit how wide their feet are.

Mine wears 16mm eyes (from Oscar Doll, whose eye designs are now manufactured by Swandoll), but you might need to bevel a little to get them to sit flush. I just noticed significant gapping on mine despite the eyes I use for her being fairly low-dome. I tried to put a pair of 18mms from (le jardin en mai, I personally would not recommend them in general) in and they wouldn't even fit in the socket.

    35. Thank you so much for the info!! Those shoes are so lovely! Her feet are so big but they're so lovely in sculpt...it's a shame it's still so hard to find her more feminine shoes! ToT

I kept seeing OscarDoll being mentioned in older posts but the links were broken and I could not seem to find them in Google! Thanks so much for the updated link!!

If you don't mind my asking- what clothes does Unoss fit these days? Particularly bottoms...

PS- your dolls are all so gorgeous!!

      • x 1
    36. Exactly! I love everything about her, she's just extremely difficult. Her hands have to come off for me to get her in certain outfits ;-;. I've given up on her ever wearing pants unless I make them myself or commission them too. I did just rearrange her eyes and I got one to sit fairly flush with the eye well, but her right eye has significant gapping so I will probably sand down in there to get it to fit better. I'd imagine it's a problem on any Unoss.

I just took a photo of how the shoes fit her. They also help her stand. She's not sueded or wired or anything (yet, I think that's today's project), and I think her elastic is probably close to as old as she is, so they're kind of a godsend for stabilizing her ankles right now.
(You can still kinda see just how wide her feet are in them lol)
I haven't received the second style of shoes that I linked yet, but based on the description I think they're roughly the same size as the pair she's in now. I have it in 3 colors and I keep being tempted to buy the remainder of the colors since I don't think I'll ever find her a better shoe:whee:. More and more companies have been starting to offer heels for big boys lately so I'm constantly on the lookout for them.

I currently have her in an outfit that's meant for DD/SD13 girls from JETRUNNER;D, but the skirt sits too high on her waist because of how wide her hips are. The shirt rides a little high on her waist too and makes her look a little chubby. I personally think it's cute, but it's definitely not an ideal fit. Before that I had her in an SD10 (and maybe 13?) girl outfit from Volks that also rode too high on the waist. I haven't specifically bought her many clothes recently, so I usually just do the trial and error method with things that look like they'll fit.

No problem! I was devastated when Oscar said they were shutting down, I'm so glad that someone licensed their designs and has kept them in production. I'm happy I could help, I adore Unosses and I'm really happy to see that someone else is wanting to give theirs a makeover! :D (and thank you so much!!)

    37. Thank you soso much again!! I may pick those shoes up myself!

And- YES. The waist thing...that's exactly what my problem with her has been... Cute skirts always ride up on her... ToT Your outfit for your Unoss looks so sweet! <3 On another note- looking at your girl and other peoples' Unoss these days, I really regret sanding my girl's eyelashes and brows off! They add such a charm!

      • x 1
    38. You're welcome!

I think if you can find something that has an elastic waistband or even partially elastic waistband that would help a lot? Though since they're hard dolls and not squishy like people, clothes still like to ride up. These might actually fit if you're in the market for shorts? I think they'd look better if the shorts were shorter (since Unoss are pretty short too), but the back of the waistband is elastic so it'd at least stretch to conform to her waist The little thigh strap is elastic too (though I had to take mine in for the doll I bought them for lol). I have a pair of their shorts for DD size that I can test on mine a little later for you if you'd like.

Edit: it looks like some of RRabit's skirts have elastic waistbands too.

    39. @Astro You wouldn't have to worry about clothing and shoes if you'd just make her the hot pink wrestler outfit I've been advocating for her for years now. hot pink metallic stirrup pants, no shoes, pink wrassle theme pedi :chibi

      • x 2
    40. Ahhh those shorts are cute!! I wonder if her thighs would be too large for them? ><;; They look very sexy and casual though- I love the little cross charm! I'm so afraid in general to get pants for her LOL. It really does seem like clothes with elasticity work best for her... I don't want to trouble you to have to change your girl's clothes! I really thank you again for helping me! <3

      • x 1
    41. It's not a problem! I just have to dig them out, I think they wound up in an unsorted box of doll clothes. I've been curious about it ever since I thought about it though, so I'll try them when I find them!

    42. [IMG]Dollmore loafers on Unoss by t4124, on Flickr

I bought these pink loafers from Dollmore hoping they would fit the Unoss feet. I wouldn't call this "fitting", but I forced them on with some tools. Unfortunately they appear to be faux leather so they don't stretch much and I assume they will deteriorate badly over time. But they are ON for now and they look SO cute!

    43. An older DoA post said Glamor Model shoes from Dollmore would fit Unoss.
They don't. They're at least 1 inch too long.
The shoes arrived yesterday. I have no use for them.

THANK YOU to DoA-ers who KNOW what shoes fit Unoss and post photos.
But to others: PLEASE don't post guesses on what might fit Unoss. I know you mean well but it's not helpful.

    44. I'm sorry that happened. What I always do is double-check sizes myself before I spend money. For instance, Dollmore gives the length of these loafers as 11.4 cm, and the Glamour Model boys these are made for have a foot length of 10cm. Unoss girl feet are about 7,6cm if I remember correctly, and people recommend using SD13boy sized shoes for them, which are a smaller size than Glamour Model boys. Hope you'll still find some use for the loafers, or maybe trade/ sell those?

      • x 1
    45. @Mandagore I selling the loafers and the boots from Dollmore on another website. (Am I allowed to mention other sites that sell stuff?) I'll try SD13 shoes soon.

Here's the next attempt: someone said "My Twinn" sandals work. They don't. LOL At least they were cheap.

    46. Here was another suggestion: "American Girl" sandals. These are the best fit so far in my shoe adventure although they're too short and too tight. These were cheap, too.
(Looks like Unoss needs a bath!)

One idea: a Unoss owner swapped out the Unoss feet for Iplehouse feet in order to have nice high heels. I love the Unoss feet, though.

    47. I totally understand that. I have odd sized girls with odd sized feet, too.^^
But I do not understand - why don't you buy shoes at BJD shops that give you the exact size of the shoes? Luts, Dollmore, Leeke I think?, and many, many more give the exact shoe measurements with every shoe they offer. You only have to compare to your girl's measurements, and hey presto!?^^

I did not find the old posts you refer to, but most likely they are from a time years ago when not much was known about different sizes and shopping for BJDs was very much guess work.

      • x 2
    48. @Answer42
When you finally find the right size you have to make a picture collage of all the botched shoes you bought...

    49. @Mandagore YAY! Finally some great ideas on where to shop! At your suggestion, I started with the Luts site and it looks promising! THANK YOU!

@lytits You made me laugh so hard, I almost snorted! :XD: A failed-shoe photo collage would be hilarious!

      • x 2
    50. Just a follow up: The shoes offered by Luts, Dollmore, etc. are all too narrow for Unoss.
I was very lucky to find a used custom pair of shoes for Unoss - originally from a unknown maker years ago!
Maybe there are some BJD shoemakers out there somewhere...

    51. Recently I went to mandarake Japan and found a unoss at a steal! $230! (Fullset with non-sanded eyes/lashes)

Bought it the moment I saw it!

Since I was in the kansai region and brought her to volks tenshi no Sato

Apparently they do not do any maintenance for U-noss despite it being released by them... Quite sad really

Thank god I read this thread before buying clothes for her as SD13Boy shoes fit perfectly

      • x 6
    52. Congratulations on your new girl!

Yeah, it's sad VOLKS won't maintenance oldskin dolls but you can take her there for some fun pictures:thumbup

    53. Apparently their "service time" for this gentaro unoss collaboration is over and isn't allowed inside tenshi no Sato. (Not considered as a volks doll) From what I was told by the staff. I was shocked.

U-noss wasn't even displayed at their museum

    54. That is curious.

    55. @1dec.beae
I never really realized that Unoss wasn't in the museum since each time I went to Sato there were some dolls down for maintenance and I assumed that I'd just missed them every time. I guess it makes sense to not display Unoss since Gentaro Araki does his own thing separate from VOLKS now but sad Unoss is not allowed at Sato.

I took my Ian to Tenshi no Sato last year and was also told they no longer service oldskin dolls (aside from the exchange campaigns they do from time to time though likely Unoss and Ian are not allowed for these campaigns) due to them being no longer produced and quite different from any current Super Dollfie so probably a long-standing but not well-known rule given how rare these older dolls are.
Sato doesn't even have records of most pre-2004 dolls which I thought was quite odd so if you go ask questions about them you'd have to get lucky to catch the one staff member that has memory of that particular doll.
The staff in general are usually surprised and excited to see owners still enjoying these old dolls though so always a good idea to ask!

      • x 3
    56. I’m not surprised they don’t service dolls that old anymore but I’m quite surprised she isn’t included at all. I’m really wondering why they would not even allow her in though - since she is a branded company product, and was distributed by them as well. But good to know that mine should just stay home, should we go.
