Unoss Discussion Thread

Hello everyone! My sister gifted me a Unoss, one of my grail dolls, recently. I think I'm okay on clothes since I can sew pretty decently, but I'm having trouble with shoes. Which of course brings me here. I've noticed all the links to appropriately sized shoes is outdated. Does anyone know where I can get cute girly shoes in Unoss size? I have boots but I'm more interested in flats or even heels if that's possible.

Unfortunately I can't think of any shoes right now that would fit Unoss, but I need to dress her too so I will try to find something hopefully. I do know they have HUGE feet!



My Bebe is finally back from the spa! I put her in the elusive cat outfit to pose today. I love her new makeup but she definitely looks more like an Aika now instead of a Siena close up, which is all right because my girl is an Aika to begin with. They are definitely expressive girls!

 

your best shot would be to check taobao or indie companies on yahoo for super girly shoes but if you can live with unisex shoes there are plenty of boyshoes that look cute on girls from many of the larger companies.

Personally I'm goin through a no-shoe-faze where I just want all of my dollies running around bare in the woods, but thats just me.

 

Oh, for the good old days when Leeke and Minoru World made girl shoes in Unoss size . . . but Dollheart does come through sometimes! Another source would be dollmakers' supply shops, like Monique and Kemper; they sell shoes by measurements, so measure the Unoss foot, add a few mm for ease, and see whether any of the styles close to that size are usable. A lot of them are either too babyish or too clownish for me, but I have found the occasional pair of simple low heels that I can live with.

 

Well I just went to Taobao and there seems to be some SD17 shoes that might fit. I also saw that ttya has some sneakers that would work too in many colors. I will be buying some later I think for my girl later on and tell ya if it works. I hope so because I learned early on that doll shoes are expensive!

 

I accidently ended up with my hands on the original Unoss artwork book by Araki! Depending on the condition of the book I'll possibly try to scan it to share it here!

I'm not sure if this is the style you're after, but I just found these cute boots on Taobao. 8cm does appear to be the foot length rather than outside shoe length. I'd be a little concerned about the boot width on Unoss calves, though. If you're looking for a more high-fashion style, Dollmore's Model shoes are appropriately sized for Unoss.

I think you did a wonderful job wally! Sometimes all one needs is a fresh face up to enjoy the same doll again.

 

Wow Wally! That faceup just brings her back to life. I think the smaller eyes really work well to give her a more open eyed look too! Well done!

 

I'm absolutely delighted, after ten years of trying/bidding/offering/failing, to have finally brought home my Ultimate Grail Doll, a Unoss Aika!!

The wonderful Enaibi fixed a botched eye mod done by a previous owner (apparently, her eyeholes were enormous!), and the result is uniquely sweet. Enaibi also did her face-up and body blushing

So, I can finally join the thread with my lovely girl, Ambre!

Cynthia, it seems like that first pair of Rococo shoes is (shockingly) still in stock, so I'm going to pick them up and will report back about the fit!

There are more, but a lot of them are sold out. Seems like it's a good idea to keep an eye on the boys' section on DollHeart, because they seem to fairly regularly release shoes that might look great on our hard-to-fit girls!

Congrats Ashbet! Gorgeous girls, you and Lisianthus both! I love seeing the same doll interpreted so many ways.

In regards to shoes, I've had some pretty good success with ones meant for SD13 boys - sometimes though. I get ones that aren't wide enough or too tight in the ankle/calf.

I've had my seina for over a year now and I still haven't settled on a face-up I like, she still has her default lashes and everything so it's a challenge.
I find it really difficult to settle for a lower lip shape

How do any of you do it?

I admit, I waited until I found a Unoss with a face-up that I adored, so I have no advice! I really do love the shape that Enaibi gave to her mouth

I recently got the opportunity to purchase the Unoss body and hope to hybrid it with a Volks doll head. I am looking at senior delf shoes and sd13 boy boots ... Does Dollfie dream DDY pants work for the Unoss body?

I received my Unoss body and have given to my Volk Michele... Plus point- resin match is wonderful.

The body is just simply a work of art. I am a huge fan of thighs and chunky calves.

I will be washing and restringing the body this afternoon... The previous owner put rubber disks on the arms and that allowed more poses. Has anyone tried wiring the legs? Or glue sueding will suffice? I put pics in my Flickr if anyone is curious

Feeling the actual eyebrows and lashes is pretty neat. I hope i can make them work with a new faceup.

This girl seems much more yellow than the last Unoss i had, But it seems pretty even so thats good. Maybe ill look into whitening techniques xD

I favor the sculpted lashes and brows, and it is rare to find Unoss still with them. I have one with sculpted lashes and a non-default face-up and feel it works well for her, and then one without the sculpted eyelashes , and that also seems to work for her face-up. - Barb in MA

 

Congratulations! So refreshing to see others loving the lashes and brows, I had to look for a long time before I found my girl.
I do wish they were a bit less... suprise shaped.

Has anyone tried using an S hook instead of that scary resin hook?

What resin hook might i ask? My girl arrived with a normal metal S-hook holding her head on.

 

Mine has her strings on the hook part in the head (forehead between the eyes)

 

My Kalla got a new faceup last year. *u* The sculpted eyelashes and eyebrows are haaaard to paint.

Her name is Cassiopeia and here she is in my poorly lit shelf in the middle of the night.
I dyed her false lashes myself. I think I'm going to add more in different shades of purple.

I recently took my girl to a craft meetup, and hotglue sueded, and then had help restringing her.
It's so nice being able to move her arms and legs and have them stay in place lol.

My Unoss is shipped and I am expected her delivery by end of this week

 

Joining the thread, and KalsUki in anxiously waiting. I've always held Unoss as a completely unattainable grail doll. I NEVER considered being able to get one... well, I've got one on a short layaway. I'm so nervous... I don't think I've been this nervous over a doll in a VERY long time. Got my deposit on her... and paying her off next week... then the worst of the waiting begins.... shipping .-. I have no idea what I want to make her... hopefully she'll tell me when she arrives.

 

My Unoss is finally here!!! Default make up and outfit. I got her out last night and did a video of her eye mechanism.

Remmah, I was nervous for mine to ship too, from London to Arkansas so I feel you. Congrats, U-noss is a beauty.

 

I have a few Volks boys- the old F-28, School A, Lucas (these are at my display)... a few are just floating heads in storage (Tsukasa, Heath, Swd School A).

Hey everyone, I have a bit of an odd question/request. Does anyone who has an Aika version still have their box? And if so, is there anyway you could take me some pictures of the stickers on it? I've found plenty of Siena's box, but no luck finding Aika's... and I'm getting an Aika version, and she doesn't have her original box so I'd like to make her a suitable replica.

 

She's out for delivery right now, and I'm so afraid she won't arrive before I have to go to work! Then I'll have to wait till Tuesday to collect her as Monday's a holiday! T_T I've been up since early this morning waiting, I had weird dreams about getting her in and now I'm so nervous.

Update: I missed her! T_T Acording to the tracking the mail ran 18 minutes after I had to leave for work. I won't be able to get her till Tuesday!

But I am loving how modern she can look.

 

I just purchased an Unoss Aika She is a fullset, but with sanded lashes/brows. She was such a steal though so I can't complain. And really I just love her hands and legs C:

@Remmah, I can't wait to see pictures of your girl! My Aika should be shipped in her original/official unoss red box so I'd be happy to post pictures of that.

Please excuse my stand-in DD. I've always wanted a bed for my dolls, and I wanted to treat the Unoss special so I built it for her. The bed frame is card board and eva mats wrapped in kraft paper to give it an even color and texture. And it's got a complete bed set made from fat quarters, pillow cases and the sham from my own set so it matches my room. I went nuts on the little details. The pillows are made proper and have pillow cases, the flat sheet has that little decorative edge on the top. And I'm spoiling her with keychain plushies.

 

Remmah, this is very well done! I love the fabrics, pillows and mostly that you have built/sewed this for your new Unoss.

 

So as much as I hated too the original faceup had to go. T_T and then once I had taken it off I was terrified to redo it, cause of those sculpted eyelashes... but I finally buckled down and got her repainted.

So everyone... I'd love to one day get my hands on a pair of the cat ears for these girls and Siena's outfit and headgear... but I'm wondering how often, or even ever do they come up for sale? And also how much do the various parts go for?
