UNON / U-noa Zero / Unoa 0 : Latea & Marion Discussion v. 2

Oct 1, 2008

    1. EDIT-finally found the body to un-hybrid my zero!

    2. I think the neck 'knob' is too wide and wondering that even if you find a body wide enough to fit it may not look good in proportions..But it looks like you can sand a large portion of the knob without having a problem.

    3. Thanks for the reply, sounds promising. I have made adjustments that are working perfectly with a zero faceplate, a handmade headback and a hybrid body, but I'll be interested in seeing what I can do with the zero headback when it arrives. I like the 58cm body with my Latea faceplate, so I may just set the original headback aside until I can find the original body for my girl, and can afford it!

EDIT: Ended up finding a zero body in the mp here and snagged it up. My girl is no longer a hybrid!

    4. she looks great wally! she deserved her own body:)

    5. She looked great before as a Hybrid but now she looks fantastic!

    6. Thanks luv*it and moggyuk! I just adore her, she's the sweetest girl!

luv*it, I buy new shoes and make new clothes for her non-stop, so she's getting plenty of attention around here. Thanks for re-homing this darling girl, she is the apple of my eye!

    7. I'm so happy you were able to put her together. :)

    8. is anyone else annoyed by the disc joints on Zero's elbows?!
not only have mine started to worn off the receivers but they might pop out if I try to give her a extended pose sometimes..I look at my u-noa 2nd and I wonder why Gentarou didn't do Zero's elbow joints exactly liker 2nd...yes I understand they camouflage the cord perfectly but they're not playtime durable....Wish they'd just sell new one-piece optional elbows...T______T

    9. YES!!!!!

It's a problem I was having with just one of the elbow joints of my Zero.
The left arm was OK but the right joint kept popping out. It was very annoying.
I'm hoping that the problem is fixed now as I sent my Zero for restringing recently. She hasn't arrived home yet ( I'm missing her! ) but I'm confident that it will have been worth being without her for a while as I've had reports that she is posing beautifully now and with no popping joints in sight!

    10. Yes, those dumb little tabs in the middle of the elbow joint kept popping out...once the little resin nub wears down, it will never stay in. I decided to just remove mine completely. I don't care if you can see the elastic. ;)

    11. oh,I also removed mine for a period also but the hands just became so loose(as you know 1.5, 2nd,resin light and chibi all have a small narrow place where the cord gets 'trapped' and it holds the position) they couldn't keep their poses so I placed them back on...atleast the leg tabs/disc joints seem to hold better without wearing out with the receivers much..

moggyuk,I'll try restringing her to see if it helps but I somehow don't see how this could help her sensitive little tabs not popping out.. >__<; (since they come off because of the tension the cord applies when you fold her arms..)

this is annoying cause it makes me not want to play with her much just by looking at the 'damage' every single move brings to her joints..

    12. If I remember right (it's been a while since I put her together)...the disc in her elbow is alot like the one in her knee...and to give that little nub more bulk I put a dab of glue around it and that seemed to help. It stayed in the groove better after that and kept it from popping out.

    13. so since having all the 'ingredients', made
a CGI representation of how a male 68cm
U-noa Quluts [ZER0] could possibly look like,
      [IMG]
the ingredients for this 'freak' doll are:
      [Face]: a 20% mixture of 60cm Marion faceplate and 80% of 43cm B-el faceplate
[Body]: a 80% mixture of 27cm boy Azurite body and a 20% 60cm Female Zero body.

what do you think?...would he be a good candidate
as the ken of our Latea / Marion or is he plain SCARY?!,lol...

    14. I kinda like him.... only the eyes are scary lol xD

    15. hahaha there are no eyes,I just haven't scraped the extra resin parts from my b-el faceplate.XDXD

    16. hahah! n66x's beast boy! He's kind of cool actually. I'd love to see Araki's interpretation of this doll. XD

    17. Christy, thank for the info it's true I used some glue in the past to dry and sort of 'recreate' the nubs and it did hold on for a couple of play sessions, lol.

      DaggerChan,call him frankunon...XPXP
yeah I'm quite intrigued to see to see if he'll ever make a 60cm male doll I'm wondering will his interpretation be like B-el / L-b growing up or something more mature looking same way the 2.0 and Zero look nothing alike the 1.5..The Light boy Azurite is a good example of a male body opposite to the Light girl Fluorite who looks really close to Zero constructively:
(If you can't afford a Zero you will probably love to get the pocket size Light,lol...)
I'm convinced that just like with chibi he will make more kits to come in the near future with fresh ideas!!^_^(wishful thinking!)

    18. you know Araki san has been keeping his "doll a year" schedule for the last 6 years! I think we can expect some more good things from him in the future. I love the comparison between your girls, the bodies are almost identical (beside the size, of course)! :D

    19. wuahh DaggerChan,I really wish you're right!^__^
oh well besides the size, joints and plasticcity...The new version of the U-noa quluts lights are made from a really weak plastic(that cringes,)much like 1/6 obitsu(if not weaker)..but their shape is lovely when you take a picture they feel just like the Unon feels..

    20. Looks like a rock star to me! I think he's totally brill!

    21. Just sharing a quick pic of my girl modeling a commission. :aheartbea

    22. Wow, gorgeous dress! I love the way it drapes around her body~

    23. The girl and her outfit are fabulous Lindsey! I love the colour of the fabric and the draping is gorgeous.

    24. Lindsay, that dress is gorgeous! Your topstitching is perfection!

    25. My Zero Latea faceplate has just returned from Cycy in France who's done a fabulous job on the faceup. I'm thrilled!

    26. Moggyyuk, your girl is Simply Stunning ! A Star is Born !! Love her nails, too !

    27. Thanks! :aheartbea

moggyuk: Your girl's face-up looks amazing! It gives the mold a totally different look.

    28. Thankyou Ivydoll! I managed to paint Zero's nails myself :)

Thankyou Lindsay. I think Cycy has done a fabulous job. I have another doll with a faceup by her and she's great too!

      Anne.

    29. moggyuk-she's just amazing!!!

    30. wuahh,so many gorgeous Zeros uploaded lately!^___^

I'm about to make a wig order and I have a question,do you think they can fit into 7-8 wigs or will they be too tight?.all the styles and colors I want are 7-8 and there's nothing in size 8-9>__<;; the wigs have elastic...

    31. n66x: I just tried a Luts size 7-8" wig on my Latea and it doesn't fit on her at all. :( The wig just isn't as stretchy. I've bought an SD wig from Marimone and it works on my Latea very well, even though I thought it might be too big for her, since the models were all 9-10".

    32. thank you yoake!^_____^
I'll have a look at the 9-10" sizes too,
and in the meantime I'll take precise measurements of her head ans ask the company if it'd fit the precise wigs.**crosses fingers**

    33. Please remember that general picture sharing (new photo shoots of your doll or showing off your doll's new look) should be done in the Gallery sub-forum and then linked to from here to share with the group. Photos in this thread should be illustrating points of conversation. Thank you for understanding! :pcupcake

    34. I was just looking at this more closely and am a bit confused....Leeke L girl shoes on their site have them sized at 6.7 cm...that's too small for Zero who's at 7.6 (unless they made a typo on their site)...or...did you mean these are boys boots?

I'm gathering a list of places to buy shoes for my girl...I do have some Dollheart shoes that fit her wonderfully as well, but just wanted a clarification on the Leeke shoes cos I like their styles.

    35. Christy: Mm, I'm not too sure either, because the seller whom I bought the Leeke boots from was saying it's for SD girls, and that they barely fit her SD13 boys. So I figured they ought to be size L, since if it's Boy L, they would have fitted the boys too.

There are some shoes made just for SD girls that sometimes run large. I have a pair of Volks SD/SD13 girl loafers that fit my SD10 girl's feet right, and could also fit my Unoa's feet, which was amazing!
Sometimes, SD13 boy shoes are still too big for my Unon, especially the boots. :(

    36. My Leeke boy's boots fit my zero easily, with socks. I have one pair of dollheart sd girl boots that fit well and one pair that will not come close to fitting. All the dollheart SD13 boy boots I have fit just fine.

    37. I redid my Marion's faceup to work for her new eyes!

      More in the gallery~

    38. Oh yoake she's lovely! Her eyes are reallt pretty too.

    39. just a note that the Horn set that comes with the Chibi kit
fit the Zero mechanism really well:
though you can notice that the real Zero horns would reach further out,
closer to the forehead however the unicorn horn is really nice in size.

    40. Wow great info! I love the boots think I will get one for my girls.... I want one myself too.....they are fab!

    41. it has been confirmed
      that AL and Gentaro Araki
will not re-create U-noa Quluts Zero
or make any changes to her resin parts
for as long as the doll is licensed
      under Hobby JAPAN CO.,Ltd
[any future releases of the kit are up to HJ)

here is a tutorial on how to repair
the elbow / knee slit cover problem
      some people may have encountered.

    42. n66x -Thanks a million for posting this Tutorial and Zero info - you're Zero's angel !

    43. its been quiet here! i got a zero head from the MP and had her faces painted, though they are just floating and i dont have a body so not sure what i will do, they need some nice eyes but they are gorgeous anyway.

    44. They are absolutely stunning! Who painted them?

    45. Meee* painted them:) thanks!

    46. WOW they are amazing

    47. They are gorgeous! :aheartbea

    48. there will be a new U-noa Feak#2 coming in March,
      http://www.hlj.com/product/HBJ60026
the u-noa freak#2 announces new optional preorder for U-noa quluts zero
including new faceplates, wigs, eyes and shoes for our 63cm ladies,

it also has patterns for all the Araki dolls,
and possibly something about limited lottery of the Sekiguchi lights(?)

    49. Thanks for the info! So you can only order the option parts through this magazine? X_X I'm guessing it's for Japanese only as well?

    50. yes i guess through the magazine just like what happened with the Zero kit too..>___<;;
we could ask Crescent and we'd have to buy the magazine through them and have them do the ordering,
I think this happened with an earlier Dollybird u-noa 2nd order but i'm not sure...

    51. Alright, I was hoping it would be possible to order through Crescent! My girls really need shoes, they each have 1 pair now (the default black resin ones ;3; )

    52. hmmm,I somewhat think these are the same one they mean by 'shoes' though,lol..but wouldn't mind having them in white or other colors!^__^
I wonder what type of faceplates we'll see!!^o^ I wonder if they'll make a yawning/"o" faceplate that would be very naughty, lol or smiling faceplates.
we got a peak of the sleeping faceplate prototype sometime ago it looks really elegant i hope it's part of this preorder!:

    53. YES! Unoa Zero Optional Parts!!!!

    54. n66x, you rock! Thanks for the info! I have bought all of my Unoa's second hand though, have never used crescent. I ordered Unoa Freak 2 just now. Is the only way to order a Zero through Crescent, or since I have the book coming, can I order with it?
Totally not hip to how that works...

    55. well up until now I don't think you could order if you didn't have a Japanese address or someone staying there to organize this for you, I think these orders are done by sending a cut-out from the magazine with your address information and order or something to this extend, either way if you want Crescent to handle this for you it's wise to wait and have them order the magazine so you won't have to order twice(they'll need the cut out from the magazine themselves) or organize this with another deputy and have them order the magazine for you,

I'll go send an email to them to let them know about it and see if they're willing to find out more/organize it for us..

    56. oh, the sleeping faceplate looks fabulous and I'd love to have the unicorn horn too and those ears.......wow! :aheartbea

    57. So far there has been 2 lottery for U-noa Zero. Both of them were run by Hobby Japan,coLtd.

The first was 50 unpainted assembled dolls in Hobby Japan Magazine to wrap up a reoccurring article on Araki creating the Zero. The second was a three tier lottery in Dollybird (this mook is published by Hobby Japan) . Hobby Japan currently holds the rights to sale, price and distribute the Zero.

You can only do a Hobby Japan mailorder if you live in Japan and can pay by postal transfer/bank transfer. Hobby Japan is notorious for long silent waits on mailorder and crescent does not deal with lottery (occasional AL lottery aside its against their policy) so if you are looking to pre-order the book in attempt to order parts you should find a deputy that will pre-order the book then send the card in for you... that is much easier said than done.

    58. I just found the new too, that's great news.
Pity I can't buy Zero, so won't try the lotery, one day maybe.

But so happy about the book, my favorite one so far.

    59. good news from Crescent!^_______________^
