UNON / U-noa Zero / Unoa 0 : Latea & Marion Discussion v. 2

Oct 1, 2008

    1. I like the proportions of the classydoll but the body is so pink lol xD

I snagged an awesome blazer and a pair of boots that actually fit her! (Dont know the maker though :( ) from a recent doll meet~

Need to take some photos~ So excited she finally has shoes!

    2. A lot of people seem to have trouble with shoes for zeros, but I can't wait to see more of your girls captainKiyo!

    3. This thread had died down in a bit :( There are lots of Unoa Zeros for sale in Yahoo Japan and other places. Maybe we would get a new girl to join us?

In the meantime, here is my Marion Didi's sleeping plate back from the spa! Shhh... she is sleeping.

    4. Aww, sorry I haven't been sharing my girls' photos here! My Unon girls are definitely still the most loved girls in my collection. :aheartbea

      ;_; And I missed Ashbet's reply! Thank you!! Loulou tends to look most photogenic in anything. You can put her in a gunny sack and she'll still rock it. ;o;

Here is Rodart, my Fairy Skin Marion on a Volks SD16 white skin body.
Her sister Loulou gets the original body as it's more girlish for her personality.

    5. Does anyone know if a Unoa zero would look good with an iplehouse yid? I really liked their sculpts, but I'm afraid the boy might be too short to look good with an unon! Pictures would be nice too!

    6. mmm iplehouse has really small heads :< So i don't dont think the fit would be a perfect proportion, but it might work?

I took my Latea (Freyja) to a meet today~

Ended up find a nice pair of crobi pants that fit her perfectly, heres the link to see those https://www.flickr.com/photos/captainkyo/19981000486 So im happy she has a pair of jeans now xD

    7. IpleHouse EID or SID men tend to have heads that I'd consider proportionate with a Unon.

I have two nYID boys (Chris and Vampire Chris), and their heads are quite small and narrow (they look a bit too small next to some of my *IpleHouse* dolls!)

Not sure if a different headsculpt with a wider jaw might work well with a Unon, but I wouldn't suggest Chris with one. You'd probably be best-off with at least an SID sculpt.

My Unons are hard to get to right now (I need a small stepstool and to move several other dolls off the top of a cabinet), which is why they haven't been photographed lately -- otherwise, I'd offer comparison shots :/

    8. Hi folks! I know shoes/clothes can be a bit of a problem for the Unoa Zero gals so I figured I'd stop by with some info. I don't own any of the girls myself (yet), but a friend of mine does. Details, details. I sadly don't have any pics to show off. Sorry. o n o;;;

Angellstudio's 1/3 Sweety Loli Girl shoes fits and comes in both white and pale pink. The Zeros stand like a rock in them, and you should be able to also wear sheer/thin stockings in them too, but I from what I understand it's a tight fit. http://en.angell-studio.com/?product-2376.html
Angellstudio's 1/3 Mori Girl shoes are slightly bigger than the Loli shoes. They look absolutely amazing and are super easy to put on. * u * <3 They're also available in brown. http://en.angell-studio.com/?product-2302.html
Both pairs of shoes have this super cute detail under the sole and have a slight heel.
Angellstudio's 1/3 Girl's Summer dress fits like a glove. It almost looks tailored. http://en.angell-studio.com/?product-2156.html
Angellstudio's 1/3 Sweet Winter coat fits, but the arms are a little short in my opinion. Super feminine and full of great detail. Comes in both khaki and pink. http://en.angell-studio.com/?product-2839.html

Hopefully this helps! I'll come back and report on shoes and clothes if I get a better look at my friend's wardrobe. Gotta wait till she comes back from vacation though.

    9. Oh, wow! That is really helpful -- thanks! :D

    10. Miracle happened; my friend who promised she wouldn't get online during her vacation got on and we got talking about dolls again. Hope you guys won't mind another mini report.

I didn't get much more shoe info out of her that hasn't already been posted in this thread, but I learned that Kaleidoll shoes absolutely don't fit. Which is a shame 'cause they carry soooo many pretty ones. :...( Guess I'll have to look elsewhere when I finally get around to purchasing a Latea.

Greentime on Taobao's Big Bat sleeve set fits, and the pants are especially good on. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1-c.w8735253-9016850964.1.ftYAOu&id=38764659328
Greentime's Romantic Petal set was iffy for her. The top is alright, but the skirt was oversized and ended up so low that the stomach showed. I think this can be solved with some safety pins though, but I'm not sure if that's an option for the perfectionists. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c.w4002-8961883925.66.POw4c6&id=40306004219
This winter dress set from CLS is sold out, but my friend has nothing but praise for the outfit. Wearing everything together is a tight fit over the chest, but apparently looks super on and worth looking for on secondhand markets. Comes in both beige and brown. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.0.r1DvDx&id=41751279053

Aaaaand that's it. She does have a few more things like Jesus Diamante inspired stuff from Etsy and an in-progress Elegant Chic one piece dress (AUC design I think, seen on the 2012 Unoa Zero version in black/light pink), but nothing else that the rest of us mortals/collectors may purchase or obtain from other places.

      If you can't tell my friend is obsessed with gyaru fashion, even more than myself, so if you guys know of any clothes, shoes or wigs that fit these gals I'd love to hear about it so I could do some Christmas/Birthday shopping for her. <3 or prep myself ahhahahahahaha shopping for dolls you don't have is a bad thing q u q;;;

    11. Hi thread!
Does anyone happen to have pictures of either of the girls with the original elf ear piece?
I've just snatched a pair from mandarake, it's my first ever purchase from there and I'm a bit nervous but at the same time very excited >.< - there's not many pictures of them apart from the original event photos, or maybe I'm just not very good at looking @_@?
      Thanks in advance!

    12. Hi! I'm not really sure if it's in the two forums or not but does anyone know of a comparison photo of the 14 eyes versus 16 eyes in a Latea? I tried some glass 16s I had already and they were too big for her.

    13. I'd suggest urethane 16mm from a company like Mako or Enchanted Doll. Glass eyes tend to have larger irises and high domes.

Can't share pics from my phone, but if you click the link in my signature and search for "Unon" or "Unoa Zero" in my photos (or just find the album entitled "Grace & Fortune), you can get a look at my girls in 16mm EDs :)

      • x 1
    14. Your dolls look so pretty! Mako eyes just look so amazing, they catch the light so well!

    15. I received my elf-ear parts (as well as devil and unicorn horn parts), but realised only upon trying them on that they were fairy skin ver. >.<
With a bit of blushing and tactical hair placement they're alright though, and I really like the pointyness. ^^

    16. very sorry to bother i am in love with the unoa zero body but i was wondering if i could use a feeple 60 head on it,...someone told me unoa zero body is incompatible with any head and modding wont help is it true?thanks

    17. angelos:) I've seen a couple of owners putting Volks heads on their Unoa Zero bodies. As the head works in a faceplate + headback style, you can connect an S-hook to the string at the neck and attach other heads with compatible resin tones. Hope this helps! Putting the Unoa Zero head on a Feeple body is much tougher because they have this neck system.

    18. oh so its doable?i am mostly interested in putting a feeple 60 chloe on a unoa zero body you think it will work?...btw ty for taking time to repply

    19. Hello, I dropped by to see if there are any updates on the beautiful Zero. Sad to see this thread so quiet. Any news on the recent lottery event?

    20. Hey! Yeah I recently entered and won the Unoalchemy lottery. Honestly though it doesn't feel quite real yet. The unoa zero is my total grail doll and I had given up on ever having a chance at her a long time ago. You can definitely expect to see some serious spam from me as soon as I get her set up!

    21. Joining the thread here now that it's been revived ;)
I was lucky enough to get a second hand Unoa Zero in January, the box opening link is in my signature for anyone interested.
She came as a fullset one-off from a Japanese event from 2013, so the Latea plate has a super cute faceup by a Japanese artist!
      Here's Citrine:

Marion has always been my favorite though, so I need to paint her and then get a body for Citrine - they're both too pretty to not have their own bodies! :doh

Also, big congrats to you @Cicada ! That's amazing! :whee:

      • x 6
    22. Congrats Cicada! It will be wonderful to see some new owner pics in this thread.

Thanks for sharing Citrine's pic, Motiko. I love how you have styled her with the brunette bob - very pretty.

    23. Motiko, your Citrine is so lovely. I never tire of seeing Unoa girls. :D

    24. Eeep, I have been offered a second chance at the lottery Unoa. Should I take the plunge? I'm nervous because it's a LOT of money and I haven't been able to sell any dolls on the secondhand marketplace to help fund the purchase. Plus, if I do order her and then decide she is not for me, would I be able to rehome such an expensive doll in the current secondary marketplace conditions?

    25. @sugarlump Well, I am a bit of an enabler sooooo my vote is to go for it! These dolls really don't come up very often and I think if you don't end up bonding, so long as you don't list her for a ridiculously high price you should be able to find a home for her. But that's just my opinion. Latea was my grail so there really was no question for me - I had to do it!

      • x 1
    26. Thank you @Cicada and @sugarlump :) Zeros are pretty amazing I have to say, so I think you should go for it sugarlump! The problem with these girls are it's going to be a plunge pretty much regardless of when you get them (at least I know it would be for me), but I sincerely don't regret getting mine! :aheartbea

    27. @Cicada and @Motiko :) Well, your enabling was successful. I have taken the plunge. Slightly terrifying - but I have loved the Zero sculpt from afar for a long time, and my absolute favourite girl in my current collection is my Unoa Lusis.

@Cicada Can't wait until we receive our girls and we can post pics :dance

    28. I just got my shipping notice!!! :cheer I am over the moon right now! Poor girl won't have much more than a wig to come home to though lol. Oh I just cannot wait for the weather up here to warm up a bit so I can start working on faceups. :XD:

      Edit:
Wow, I can't believe she already arrived! I started a thread for her box opening. She is just beautiful and I am blown away. I can't wait to see some more Zero girls bouncing around here!

    29. Can Zeros be put on sdgr girl bodies? I think it might look nice, but that's only theoretically.

Also, why do people tend to hybrid their faceplates with other companies' bodies? Is it because they don't like the original bodies? Or because the original bodies are difficult to obtain?

And how well does the original body pose? Is it good? I heard some parts cracks because it's thin, is it really the case?

    30. Reviving this thread with some Q&A + spam.

@Misoup. IDK if you got answers elsewhere, but here goes.
      1. You could put a faceplate + a buff headback on an SDGr body.
      2. There's a lot more faceplates than Unoa Zero bodies. I'm sure some people actually prefer the hybrid, but the baseline reason is just math. It's easier to get a plate than the body.
      3. The body is great. It's gorgeous and well-engineered, but you have to know what you're doing. It's long and heavy, so you can't just expect it to pose well without effort. I recommend sueding the knees and neck. And yes, the neck especially can crack. A bit of moleskin will reduce friction, but the rest is luck.

Ok, now for the question! Sorry if this has been asked/answered, but how is the fit for luts senior delf heels? The measurements seem right (7.5cm internal) but I figure asking can't hurt.

Spam time: Meet Ophelia, my modded Marion. :3 She's from 2010 and a bit of a rescue. I've spent the last week cleaning, restringing, and painting her.

    31. Sorry if this question has already been asked, but could the Marion FP (with a headback) look proportional on either the Dollstown 17 or 18yrs bodies? I think they may be too slender, but if anyone could tell me about these hybrids, or show pictures, I would appreciate it very much ^^

@rianne I have been stalking your flickr lately because of this new girl, she is so amazing! <3 She has rekindled my love for this sculpt, so I am hoping to make Marion work for one of my doll characters.

    32. @zomjirate thank you! I've always had a soft spot for marion, and I'm super thrilled with this girl. Now to figure out shoes. ^^;

    33. Has anyone had luck wiring this girl? Even after tightening all her elastic mine is still very floppy. I can't get her to stand at all.

    34. Wow, has it really been over a year since anyone has been on the Unoa Zero thread? Would love to see new girls! I've been sleeping for a couple of years, dolls tucked away...just woke up and my Unoa Zero is still gorgeous!

I really need to get my Latea painted someday @.@

    36. I recently adopted a unoa-zero but the previous owner lost the guidebook. I wonder if anyone could kindly share scans of the assemble guide with me? Thank you so much!!

    37. Hi, I was just about to reply to you on Flickr about the perfect guide scans: 「U-noa・0」 Latea/Marion
Basically photobucket’s new aggressive policies have take hostage of all my pics, blurring out and watermarking years of work, but I think I’ve recently did a full backup somewhere, I’ll try to find the scans and send them some other way, in the meantime if anyone else can help it would be nice.

Edit: re-uploaded all the files here: UnonPerfectGuide
hope that helps, good luck with your assembly and enjoy your new doll!^__^

    39. I am shooting a video on how to assemble Unoa Zeros, hoping someone might still be insterested by it :)

I will put the link to my (future) YT channel in my signature when it's done (probably 2 weeks).

      • x 3
    40. I know this is quite a bit later than you posted this comment, but I would definitely be interested in seeing this! I'd love to know how much work it is to accomplish assembly.

I am debating purchasing a Unoa Zero from Mandarake, but the difference in price between strung and unstrung is quite a bit! Trying to decide what is the $$ value of choosing an assembled one.

If anyone has any input I'm all ears open... the one thing I really worry about is that with the unassembled kit, it might be challenging to determine whether all the parts are really there. With a built doll, at least all the parts are there... I'd hope!

    41. I would recommend getting the unstrung kit, if you have any experience with restringing dolls. Unoa Zero easily get cracks on the bust if shipped and happen to be stringed tight, one of mine needed to be fixed due to this.

    42. Oh, huh! That's good to know.. definitely changes how I was thinking about the value in either option! Thank you for sharing that information with me!

    43. I got my first Unoa (Sist) as a kit, and stringing her turned out to be a fun bonding experience. In fact, I just don't have the same connection with my current Unoa girls, who both arrived strung.... and still remain faceup-less. So I totally recommend going with the unstrung kit option :) The instructions were pretty straightforward.

    44. Thank you for sharing! There's another thread ongoing where I was chatting with people who were lamenting the lack of kits available, and I realized in that discussion that I do really like the idea of kits! It's nice to know that you feel getting a doll that way added to your experience.

I think my main concern when I was looking through options is that being secondhand (Mandarake), I can kind of take a best guess at whether all the pieces are there, and hope they are! But in my mind in this case, I'm getting a better price on one that has the slight chance I may be stalled by having to make or macgyver a missing kit piece. I'm probably thinking about it too hard .. lol .. but it is a good chunk of change to put down, so I figure I'll try to think it through and at least be well prepared for what I could be getting into :)
