UNON / U-noa Zero / Unoa 0 : Latea & Marion Discussion v. 2

Oct 1, 2008

1. Thanx' for the info... I'll look up for Buff at the MP then ;)

2. No problem! They're all NS, so I hope that isn't a problem for you.

3. Sorry for double post, and I hope I'm not bothering you, but did you manage to try out this hybrid?

4. Hi, I would like to know if feeple60 fits well with Unoas Zero. I like very mucho feeple 65, but I think is too big for me.

5. I have a Buff headback for my Marion face :) I just messaged her and she told me she had in stock~ I believe the headback didn't quite fit well on one of the faceplates, I think it was Latea...but I might be wrong XD; Or perhaps Buff already fixed them. It fits just fine with my Marion.

I have mine on a white skin April Story body temporarily. The match is, of course, terrible, as my head is NS XD; Buuuut otherwise, proportions seem okay~

[IMG]April Story body arrived~ by Shailara ~Sweet Dreams~, on Flickr

6. It fits fine on Marion and I modify them for Latea on a case by case basis. I keep a Latea plate around so that the fit is good.

7. I have a question! Anyone knows a store I can find shoes that really fits Unoa Zero foot? Im looking for low heel pumps (nothing too high but not flat either). I have already bought a SD16 shoe -because I thought it would fit but it doesn't :/ she does have a really big shoe size and the nails don't help much either... What shoes do your Unoas wear? -Beside the resin one that come in the kit.

If there is a thread about this please post me a link because I tried to search it and didn't find any.

8. My Unoa Zero has Ipelhouse shoes, these ones: http://iplehouse.com/home/shop/item.php?it_id=1540266519&nhn1=en. They fit nicely, and she is able to stand in them without support. I've tried an IH boot also, but that was too small.
I hope it helps:)

9. Oh yes! this one is perfect! but you said the boots don't fit, you tried the boy boots as well? Such a shame because I loved the ankle boots D:

10. I put these boots (but in black) on my girl and they fit.. i was so shocked lol
http://iplehouse.com/home/shop/item.php?it_id=1320363266&nhn1=en

I did find a hair of sd16 sandals, that had open back heel and the top strap over the toes was stretchy lace... managed to fanagle those over her toes and the heel sticks off a bit, but she could stand in them.
I got them from taobao but i believe they are being sold in the marketplace right now and on etsy by flowerzero? or something like that.

11. Oh but maybe then the other EID girl boots should fit as well! EID girl's foot length is 7,5cm while unoa's is 7,6cm but they should make the shoes a tiny bit bigger to make them easier to wear I think.
I found FlowerZero on Etsy! she is selling the exact SD16 shoe I bought for my unoa that didn't fit hahahaha, but maybe the peep-toe shoes will, since the nails are what make it harder to fit standard sizer shoes in my opinion.

12. There is an Asian eBay brand, Dark Blue, that makes "ribbon boots" (scrunched knee boots with low heels and a removable bow strap), and they fit Unon -- they also make low-heeled pumps on the same heel/last, and those *should* fit.

Mine is currently in a pair of Dollmore Model wedge shoes with a bunch of buckle straps.

-- A <3

13. Do you know the store's user name on ebay? searching "dark blue bjd ribbon boots" didn't work for me lol
I will check the dollmore shoes too :D

14. Here's one seller that carries them: http://stores.ebay.com/dollmansion-BJD/BJD-Shoes-/_i.html?_fsub=8422755013

(I agree, it's hard to look them up by brand -- I've learned to recognize the shape of the shoe and the logo on the bottom, which the listings sometimes include. It's kind of a lily-shaped flower. Here's the MSD-sized version of the ribbon boots, so you can see what they look like. And here's another seller who has the shoes in various colors. Note that I don't own the shoes in 1/3 size, but they look to be the same shape as the boots, which I do own.)

A lot of eBay sellers seem to carry them -- the shape of the mid-heeled shoe/boot is kind of distinctive.

I also found that a pair of Volks ruched suede boots (similar in style to the Ribbon Boots) fit my Zero without a problem, although I doubt all Volks shoes are made on the same last.

Good luck!

-- A :)

15. Thank you all for the tips and links ^^ Ordered her new shoes already ;) (I dont dare to go outdoor with her only in those resin shoes >__>'')

16. i tried this one http://iplehouse.com/home/shop/item.php?it_id=1533421029&nhn1=en, and it's too small - i couldn't force her feet in, but other boots may work:)

17. For IpleHouse, anything with a heel is meant for the Iple high-heeled foot, which is smaller than the Iple flat foot. The flat foot is similar in size to Unoa Zero -- the heeled feet are closer to SD16, but wider.

I can stuff my Iple girls into some SD16 shoes when they're wearing their HH feet, although it's a crapshoot as to whether or not they'll fit, since they are wider -- depends on whether the shoe material stretches a little.

So, if you buy any *flat* female shoes from Iple, they should fit Unon.

(nYID boy shoes would probably also fit, although they're undoubtedly a little bit big. I only have one pair of actual nYID male shoes from Iple -- my nYID boy mostly wears SD13 boy-sized shoes from other companies -- but I can check at some point and see how the size of the sole compares with the size of Unon feet. They may be slightly oversized, but at least they're not too SMALL.)

-- A <3

18. I ordered the peep-toed pumps and a flat boot, I thought that maybe because they are open her feet would fit (lets see when it arrives) If it doesn't it will be one more pair for my soom girls, the shoes that don't fit my unoa akways fit the soom HH feet.

Comparison pics would be great too! I haven't really found any of unoa feet.

19. I've been working on my Latea hybrid - she's on an Ariadoll 14yrs body. A little petite but cute, and the resin match is almost perfect :)

It's the sleeping faceplate, so I'm modifying the eyes before starting on the faceup!

20. It is nice to see all these wonderful girls and hybrid ideas. :3 Loving it!

So... after getting Didi apparently Didi wants a best friend too, so here she is: a Latea. Didi is a Marion so she is super thrilled to have a best friend! I just won her off Yahoo Auctions. She is going to be my Christmas present!

21. Oh! Topic about shoes...

I just found this shoe company off ebay called Sweettigger. They said the inside measurement of the shoes are 7.5cm. I wonder it would work for us girls, because their shoes are so darling otherwise! Anyone tried? Their shoes are quite pricey though but if it fits I think it is worth it!

Here is a link to them:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tii-High-he.../131301650282?pt=US_Dolls&hash=item1e92302f6a

22. I feel like I am spamming the board, BUT OMG next year according to Unoa Freak 3 Araki will have another preorder for Unoa Zero for Fresh skin! It is 95000 yen + 750 delivery fee. It also comes with a special Leekeworld wig made especially for her, along with the usual shoes + eyes, etc... It seems like this is only available in Japan :'(

The link to Hobby Japan's Japanese website is here: http://www.hobbyjapan.co.jp/unoafreak/

* Edit * Pics are available here: http://www.hobbyjapan.co.jp/unoafreak/pdf/unoa3-tuhan1.pdf

Also, they are selling 3 different pair of hands just for our girls! * Squeee * I am totally excited! They will have both fairy skin and fresh skin. Darn though. The page did not mention normal skin for the hands, which is a shame because their fresh skin tone definitely does not match with the normal skin.

23. If they're only available in Japan, is there any way for international people to order?

24. zomjirate: I don't know... ask a Japanese friend? It requires a Japanese address. Unfortunately, one doll per address. Noppin will NOT do this service for us and I don't see them announcing anything for it.

I already see scalpers/opportunists on the Internet who would sell it for like 135000 yen if you order through them :/ How sad...

25. Well not gonna get my hopes up, but i asked nopping if they will be holding orders for this at all. /shrugs
Would love to have a fresh skin girl with those new hands xD

Wonder if he will ever make heeled feet for them :3

26. I have the Unoa Freak 3 book, I bought it from Japan last month. A friend said that it's a preorder for those who own the book. I remember a similar one happening with book number 2. I'm not sure if you can buy the doll even if you're outside of Japan but still have bought the book. I'm hoping to get more information. :)

27. Well I know that it did say 1 doll per address BUT it did not say 1 pair of hands PER ORDER. :D There is some glimmer of hope at least about the hands! Unfortunately there are no heeled feet, but in Unoa Freak 3 apparently Araki tested what kind of shoes would fit Unoa Zero (lucky for us eh?) and it said that Leekeworld SD shoes and Dollmore SD 13 shoes fit Unoa Zero's feet. Yay at least there are some brand leads we can go on officially.

There are 2 order periods according to the book. The first preorder ends on 12/12/14 and the other one ends at 1/14/15.

As for ordering the doll overseas, ya... the post card only lets you fill in a Japanese address. It would be great though.

28. That Leekeworld wig is breath taking.... It reminds me of sailor moon >< although I am terrible at maintaining wigs with braids. TERRIBLE. One careless swipe of a comb and it's game over LOL. Those optional hands are interesting. I like how they can be posed together but I do not like the "C&D" pair at all. It looks so out of character for such an elegant doll. I was hoping for a peace sign or pointing hand though. I didn't realize fresh skin was different than normal skin? I can't seem to find that much info, and would glady appreciate someone pointing out the difference between the two :D My girl gets lots of playtime, but she needs a new faceup. As far as shoes, I was able to fit tata's paradise, the SD female beige oxfords(soldout), but it took a lot of work. Maybe Araki meant the flat leekeworld shoes because mine for sure cannot fit the heels. I have the resin shoes too.. but i wish they were magnetic! They hardly stay on the foot at all. I'm thinking iplehouse or dollmore is the way to go. Measure the foot in cm and compare with what they list for a certain style <3

29. About wig: This is the wig that the new Unoa Zero is going to take. It is available on Leekeworld's website now (on sale currently btw):

http://www.leekeworld.com/En/Product/p_view.asp?it_code=4348&B_catalog_num=21

For skin tones: It just so happen that I got one of each Unoa skin tones (Unoas, but nevertheless Alchemic Labo)

Going clockwise here the very top is a more mellow Regular skin release, then Fairy Skin release, * Brand new regular skin hands on the center bottom*, and Fresh skin 2012 release.

Fresh skin and normal skin does not go together at all :'( It is sad but true.

Also, the C and D hands are supposed to be able to be heat treated so that you can bend their fingers to do whatever they want. They can also wear rings, which is a nice pace of change for Araki since all the hands never have separate fingers.

The shoes that he brought up mostly are men's shoes, but I am sure we can find some that would be more feminine other than the heels. (hopefully)

30. Gamekitty: My goodness! I was not expecting such a quick an generous response! Thank you so much for the pictures! That is very kind of you and I appreciate it immensely! I do see the difference between the two, one being more warm and pinky! Previously I only thought there were two skin tones.

Seeing how the C&D hands can be heated and posed definitely changes my opinion completely! That's quite innovative of him! I wonder if it's as simple as using a blow dryer or if they have to be boiled? I'm a fan now <3 I did think it was odd to have such widely spaced fingers but I'm glad there was a purpose for it. I'm used to Unoa hands being really dainty and piano playing. And thank you for the wig link! I didn't know it was for sale separately :D I really like it and may order one myself!

31. Burpieez: I just happen to be on the computer, so glad I can help you. :)

I am a fan of the bendable fingers too! In Unoa Freak 3 there is a tutorial on how you boil it in hot water and then bend it carefully so you don't burn yourself.

Also, the new hands are also available in fairy skin. He only released the fairy skin version once in 2013. :'( I wonder if that means he would do more fairy skin dolls or he is just doing it because he offers fairy skin dolls for all the other dolls out there.

32. I would really love to have another Unoa Zero. I have the NS version from 2011 that had all the faceplates but I've only been using the Marion one. I'm soooo tempted of Fairy Skin Latea right now to hang out with my Marion. By any means I don't have the funds for her even if I could somehow order her, it would mean tremendous savings and faceup work to have the money for her. (I'm currently on a invalidy retirement) So yeah, I want her. T___T Ohmigosh, such need.

And the new bendable hands are a super exciting invention!

Oh and LOL! I have that wig purchased from Leeke (could even be the exact same color), I used it for a while on my Marion but I'm not a fan of it. XD

33. The bendable hands are fabulous -- I want 4 pairs to mess around with, since I'd be afraid of spoiling them... really interesting development, though! Araki is so often at the far edge of the doll-development curve -- I love his inventive ideas!

Too bad they're not available in old-NS -- my one full Zero is from the original release. They could be blushed or airbrushed after shaping, though -- SO intrigued by those hands!!

If anyone finds a service that is willing to make an order, please share? I have a couple of friends in Japan that I can poke, but it might be easier to get several pairs of hands if someone is ordering a doll. I really wish that Noppin was allowed to carry every AL release!

Also, do we need to have a copy of UF3 to get the hands? (I'm never 100% sure about how the limited orders work.)

-- A <3

34. Ashbet: In the book (and on the website) you can only order one doll, BUT they did not limit on how many extra parts you can order. Then again, the only extra parts he let you order are extra fresh skin faceplates (and the doll does come with all of them) and the hands.

I don't know anyone to order from, but I would love another one! I already have 1 Latea and 1 Marion in NS that I totally adore but I would love a fairy skin and a fresh skin one of course! I am not going to complain though and just think maybe I should get jointed hands or something. :/ Does anyone have jointed hands for their zeros? If you guys do, what do you guys think?

35. Oh man, thank you sooooo much for this picture!!! I had no idea fresh skin and normal skin were so different. I was going to order a fresh skin Unoa on the current order period (not Zero.... 1.5 girl ^^; wish I had the funds for Zero! but if I did I'd get a fairy skin girl) and thought I wouldn't need to order extra parts for her as I already have them from my other Unoa but they're in normal skin so I guess they won't match *_*. You just saved me a lot of disappointment and double shipping fee <3. Does anyone know how close fresh skin is to Volks resin color? And is "normal" skin basically the same skin color that has always been used up until the introduction of fresh/fairy skin?

The bendable hands thing seems really amazing. I hope they'll be released for the smaller girls sometime ^^...

36. [IMG]

So my Didi (Unoa Zero 2010 release) is once again is home from spaland, looking much better than the last time. I need to start clothing my girls! Any recommendations? I saw that some SD13 girl clothes fit and some SD16 girl clothes fit. I think I remember someone posting about how shoes inside should be 7.5cm. Any other clothing fits you guys know? It never ends!

37. Ohh I love her nude lip! It looks so luscious :D If i can add to the clothing, she can also fit SD13B clothing. Sometimes they have really nice jackets that are great for a street-wear look. My girl was able to wear SD13g and SD16G clothes too, so i like the versatility! Nine9style is a good standard option for casual. For bottoms, I would stick to SD16G unless they're free form like a high waist-ed skirt <3

38. Thanks for the links Rudy! I will check them out!

So Fifi my Unoa Zero Latea (2010 release) is here! She came with all kinds of wigs, eyes, shoes and, even a stand! I got her the limited Volks Bear outfit before they ran out and the fit is perfect, even to the slippers! Now I am kicking myself for not getting the rabbit one because these outfits make her look whimsical and cute at the same time.

39. Hey all!~ So I saw the hybrid talk a few pages back and was wondering if anyone had anymore recomendations...I didn't really like the proportions of the Unoa body (she was really tall and her feet were huge! haha) so I ended up seling mine and now my poor Latea is a floating faceplate. I'd really like to get her a shorter body, around 60cm ideally but a little shorter or taller is fine too. So far I've heard that AriaDoll/Switch and Sadol are good matches but do you guys know of any others? As beautiful as the FL F65 and VOlks SD16 bodies are they are just way too tall for me.

40. Have you tried one of your F60 bodies?

Mine is an Ariadoll hybrid (Ariadoll doesn't exist anymore, but their dolls went to Switch/Hummingdolly, so you can get them there.) A shorter alternative might be one of the options from SQLabs, but I don't know about a resin match. Their "Realskin" is meant to match Volks pureskin.

-- A <3

41. Now that I don't have her Unoa body she no longer has a headback so I'm going to have to buy a Buff headback before I can try it! If I can remember correctly though, I think the resin match would be pretty far off. :/

I absolutely adore the Switch body but I heard its terrible at posing, do you know if the posing between Aria and Switch are the same? If so, what has been you experience posing her?

I was also looking into the Sadol Love60 and LittleMonica Harmony. I'm not sure if LM would be a match or not and I know almost nothing about Sadol doll.

42. I'd say that the Ariadoll posing is about the same as Zero posing, with less-bendy knees -- it's a pretty body, but not super-poseable. (FWIW, I know that Switch did something to improve the leg posing when they bought the body from Ariadoll, so the current version may be better.) It *does* come with an option for heel feet and SD16-style high-heeled lower legs, which made me happy -- she can wear SD16-sized heels, whereas the Zero body has hard-to-fit feet.

I don't have direct experience with either of the other bodies you're considering. If F60 doesn't match, F65 probably wouldn't, either -- don't they use the same skin color for both?

Sadol certainly looks very pretty in the owner photos I've seen, FWIW!

-- A <3

43. Thank you so much for all your help I really appreciate it<3

I have to admit I don't spend a lot of time putting my dolls into super complex poses so I feel like I could be safe going with the Switch body even if it isn't the best. I have a friend who owns one who doesn't like it which is what made me nervous. She says it's very hard to make the body stand up and that the arms sometimes go in funny positions. I'm not crazy about her not being able to stand, but like I said, I don't feel as though posing is actual one of the first things on my list of criteria for dolls! And as you said, the Switch and Aria bodies are simply gorgeouss!!!! And I like the feet options too.

Oh!~ Silly me, the person I was thinking of who has an F65 hybrid has Fairyskin Unoas on a white skin FL body. So even though hers work, I don't think the normal skin dolls would match. I can tell you 100% by Tuesday. I currently don't have my dolls with me but when I get home I can check.

My same friend also said Sadol has been improving greatly and that people really like their dolls. I like the look of the Love60 body but I'm afraid to try a new company that I know little about. I don't know anything about Sadol resin, but I once bought an SQLabs body and while it was stunningly sculpted, the resin felt very fragile and lightweight and almost - well, cheap! - and she came with a broken finger! I hate using "cheap" as an excuse because I know there are cheap dolls out there with amazing quality, but the SQLabs just did not feel the same as my other dollies and I didn't end up keeping it. I'm not Sadol is cheap by any means, just that I am now a bit more wary of buying from companies I have no experience with. ANYWAY, hahaha that was long-winded. I *do* love the look of the Sadol body, and I watched a video review where the owner said she was very impressed. The posing for Sadol isn't incredible either, but I do think it's better than Switch.

The other thing I *adore* about Sadol is their hands! They have a bunch of different positions too....I'm wondering if I ended up buying the Switch body could I hybrid some Sadol hands onto it?? hmmm!

44. If they have S-hook hands, you probably could -- I've had pretty good success mixing and matching as long as there's a reasonable resin-color similarity.

For posing, I usually use 18g copper wire in the arms and legs of my big dolls -- means they can hold poses much more stably. I don't think Ariadoll has any better or worse arm posing than many other similar dolls, and if you wire them, you won't have to worry about it.

I look forward to seeing your girl in one piece, however you choose to complete her! :)

-- A <3

45. Me too! Hahahah thank you for your help..

i have aver one more question though! The switch body has a slightly thicker neck than the Aria, do you think this would be a problem? Since I currwntly only have a faceplate I can't remember how big Unoa heads typically are. Are they usually considered big headed SDs like Volks and FL or are they on the smaller side? I have a LM Sarubia who has the tiniest little head, she would never look right on a big neck like Switch! Hahaha

46. They're an 8/9 wig size -- I'd say they're a fairly average face size, but a smaller cranium than a Volks doll. I don't see it looking bad -- the Ariadoll neck is SUPER long.

47. The part of hybrids interest me!

I don't own any hybrid dolls myself, but I saw an Unoa girl on an Aquarius Doll body, which looks remarkably similar to an Unoa Zero body. The owner photos looks like the doll would pose great and has separate fingers to bend as well. The price seems reasonable enough. Has anyone tried that combo for an Unoa Zero?

48. Thanks again everyone for all your help! I think I am currently stuck between Switch, Aria and Sadol! I will post here when eventually she is put together ^^

49. I have my Unoa Zero faceplate on Sadol Honey 63 body. The body is really cute but its posability is terrible. The neck is too different in size, there's a big gap between head and neck, and the resin doesnt' match at all. Here you can see here before the face up (now with blush the resin matches perfectly!):

[IMG]Cora by christinopia, on Flickr

On the fridge you can see her profile better and notice the big gap between head and neck!

50. QueenObvious hee, I think the F65 hybrid you were referring to was mine. ;) I sold the body away in the end because it was a great stander but a terrible sitter. :(

I actually got a Sadol Love60 body for one of my Volks heads and I did try my Unoa Marion on it and the neck was too short for her. The proportion would not be great with the Sadol Love60.

51. Oh thank you everyone so much for your help!! I didn't think I'd actually find people who tried a Sadol/Unoa hybrid and I'm so glad I know now!

yoake I was referring to your girls! They're absolutely gorgeous, some of my fave Unoa Zeros out there ^^ and I really love the look of the F65 bodies but I really want something shorter for my girls.

Now I just have to decide between Aria or Switch! Switch seems to have a shorter slightly thicker neck while Aria's is very long but slightly slimmer...

52. QueenObvious Thank you! Ah indeed the F65 is pretty amazonian, lol. Her body is pretty stout and not kitty limp like the unoa zero body. u_u I hope I can find the right body soon.. April Story seems too busty and stout as well, but maybe Aquarius and Switch may work. I'm just worried about shoulder to neck to head proportions!

53. I have an Aquarius 59 but I never tried to put Unoa head on (mostly because of all those elastics I had to put to keep Unoa head in place!), and I have a Calssy body on the way... I think I'll try with the Classy body and see if the neck fits better!

54. OH christnopia! If you do ever put your girl on a Aquarius 59 I would love to see the results of that!

55. That's what I was supposed to try when I received my Aquarius girl, but if you want to take her head off you have to take off the O ring, so I gave it up (too lazy :doh )

56. christinopia Gamekitty Gosh, I totally understand the pain of removing the unoa headback from the unoa body itself. I could play the heads around different bodies because I got a separate Buff headback for hybridising. I've seen the msd version of this hybrid on Flickr and the proportion match looks perfect.

57. Thought I'd revive the thread with some fairy skin girls this new year!
My Marion has happily took on a Volks SD16 white skin body from the recent FCS order and I must say the proportion is perfect. :aheartbea
The resin match is not bad, either! :D Best hybrid body for me (other than the Feeple F65 I got previously who was stiff and couldn't sit).

59. For reference, when I sculpted the Zero headback, I used the Volks SD16 body. I know this is not the cheapest, but the proportion is lovely. She also fits very well on the Super Gem body, though the resin match isn't as great without blushing. So if you know the circumference and length of the Volks SD16 and the Super Gem female body, you can guess what other bodies might fit well without ordering blind. I hope this helps!
