Uncanny Dreams 2012 Discussion

Yay, so excited that this event can happen again this year! The Vera Project will be a fantastic venue for it (its much bigger, roomier, and should be able to fit everything nicely, while still having a quirky vibe.) I don't know if I'll have the time to participate yet, but I'll definitely be attending (and I designed the logo too ).

I'd love to see some Doll Chateau too... last year my favorite part was seeing such a huge range of amazing dolls all at the same time. Its great for getting ideas

 

I've already started working on a "project doll" for this year's event!

 

Ohh I am very much looking forward to this event!
I already know I want to bring more than I can possibly carry. (What a shame!)

I can't waaaait for this! Can't say for sure who I'll bring, my crew seems to be needing/swapping bodies an awful lot, so we'll see who has a body to come on closer to the date, haha~ xD

 

I'm so glad this is coming around again, and in a bigger place too! My crew has gotten a little bigger since then, so I'm wondering who to bring as well. Hopefully there's alot of seating; I'll probably will still be relearning to walk in Aug. I loved last year as well.

 

Any more information on this show yet? Especially for us who are interested in being vendors?

 

Word on this, I was at the PNW BJD show yesterday and it was amazing, it's truly whet my appetite for this show in August!

Just to be clear, PNW BJD Expo is not hosted by the same group as Uncanny Dreams.

This sounds really cool, I wish I knew about it earlier. I will definitely have to budget to get there next year. I love the whole idea, and wish I could see what everyone comes up with. ^_^

 

Well. Poop. I'm going to be in Indianapolis for GenCon that weekend. **stomps feet and pouts** I"m going to have to live vicariously through all of you.

 

we will be sure to post up lots of picts for you LilDedLenore! there was so much to look at last year, that even looking at picts, i was like "i don't remember that???" definitely a great exhibition of our dolls as art

 

Oh I'm excited, it's looking like yes, I can come, and my Lu-wen will be coming with me. :3 There's a new outfit in the works!

 

I have a question - "Into the Labyrinth" is the theme, so really we could interpret that in any way we like? It's not specific to the 80's movie? I'm trying to come up with a costume for myself and my doll and I'm having a hard time with the theme.

 

Syrill, yes! The theme is open to interpretation! I for one am hoping to see many beautiful creations (and as few codpieces as possible XD)

 

I'll look at the 'get involved' later, but the vendor list...I am already saving my money, woo-hoo-hoo!

I have a question regarding the location of the event. The map on your page shows the locale as about ten blocks north of Seattle Center. However, I thought it was just outside of Seattle Center. Am I correct in that? I just need to know because it makes a big difference transportation-wise (taxi versus monorail). Thanks!

 

I sent an email regarding a preregistration payment I made but haven't heard back... Should I email again? Any suggestions?

 

From the Monorail, you have to hoof it to the northwest corner, past the Key Arena. Near the SIFF Cinema/Seattle Center, or, about two blocks from the Queen Anne Post Office. Warren Ave and W Republican St.

I am getting really excited about this event. I loved last year...

 

Yay! I'm getting pretty excited for this coming up so soon! Sadly I was too busy with life stuff and other art to be able to make a display this year, but it will be so great to see everyone again and actually have time to look at all the pretty dolls.

 

I heard some people wanted to see Doll Chateau?? I have two of their MSDs, a Colin and a Hugh, that I would totally allow to be manhandled and played with ;3 they're super friendly and I don't bite, I promise~

Also, I am so excited!

Damnnnn, it's actually ON my birthday and during the con Anime Revolution in B.C., so there's no way I or my friends can make it... :C

Trying to figure out my costume for one of my boys. Probably one of the Fire Gang from the Movie, since it is my fav of all time :-)

 

I've already preregistered and I'm working on a faceup just for the event!

 

I am so looking forward to this! I went last year and it was amazing to see so many dolls, the artist displays, and shop the vendors! It sounds like this year is going to be even bigger and better

 

I'm so excited for this! I planned a vacation around this time, so that I would be able to go. I'll be bringing my School C girl and I'm looking forward to seeing the vendors section. I've never been to an event like this, involving BJDs, so it will be fun!

 

Alas, because of hassles with PayPal, we missed the deadline for registration (next time I'll stick $20 in a international envelope and trust you guys!), but we will be still coming from France in time to get there. What's lolling around a French beach with a chilled glass of wine compared to Uncanny Dreams anyway?

 

I've been without internet due to moving, so I spaced on the registry deadline as well. But I'll be there for sure with some friends in tow, and hopefully a super awesome last minute surprise project too

 

I'm so excited for this year's Uncanny Dreams that I'm joining in the contest fun with a themed face-up and costume for one of my crew.

I'm so excited for this! I actually don't think I'm going to bring my dolls though...is that lame? Mine are very minimally dressed or customized and I really just want to wander around and get some ideas. Are there any meetups planned?

Lol, I'm still trying to decide which doll/dolls to bring (I always try to take too much and end up spending the last half of a meet or event packing up, ughh). I thiiiink I've got it narrowed down to four sofar. X'D;;
