~~|Uncanny Dream Discussion - Seattle Doll Expo May 29th|~~

Mar 21, 2011

1. yay that's good my bus has a stop in the Pioneer Square station now directions from there would be helpful

2. You walk straight down Yesler towards the waterfront - 619 Western is the large building at the corner of Western and Yesler.

3. Ooopps...I'm a little slow, ignore this post...

4. wow now I don't even know if I can go I asked for it off a month ago and have been reminding everyone about it since and they still put me on the schedule

5. that sucks Nekomode13! I hope you still get to come to the show....

Speaking of the show.... how did doing my MNF Scar Lightening arm turn into removing all his seams, full body blushing, manicure, pedicure....? /love being OCD over this stuff. lol

6. I can't wait to go!! I'm so excited :D

I just realized that I'm going to need a 2nd suitcase >_< I've tried putting everything into one, but it's just not gonna work lol. *sigh* Oh well :D

7. only a few more days!!!:D I think I'm all set. my friend who doesn't own a doll might borrow my little fee for the day hahaha.

8. Woooooo three days more.

It is ok for my dolly to be partially naked? I have to buy clothes for him still, so he'll just be borrowing one of my shirts for now.

9. I think this is the perfect time to bring dollies that don't have enough clothes, or you're searching for the perfect fit for. Then you can try things on in person. :D

10. I agree I'm sure some one has something for sale that would fit oh and I might be able to come now just don't know how long I will be able to stay

11. So excited for this Sunday! :D

12. I think I will embark on a last minute sewing adventure (with involves attempting to decipher Japanese sewing instructions).

13. I just put all the bits and bobs I've been working on all setup together... for a test and man I'm excited to show everyone! =)

14. Kurohitori- Good luck! ^^

I think I'll pack my dolls tonight, just so I won't have to do it later. Man, my room will look odd with half of them gone. I'm going with a convoy down from BC, so we're excited! :D

15. Oooh! I'll be there..! Doll-less due to the fact that I don't yet own one! (So hard to choose..)
See you all there! :D

16. Looking forward to meeting you all! I've gotten a suitcase built for my two tinies and a couple of outfits sewn and stolen from SSC dolls ;)
glory

17. OGM! packed and time to crash! I leave in 8 hours!

So excited to meet you all! See you Sunday~

18. can't wait to see everyone! :)

19. I am so excited!!! I just finished my guy's outfit. I look at him and I can't believe I made it, let alone finished in time for the event and with time to spare in case he needs a touch up. I am so proud and I can't wait to share him with everybody on Sunday.

Thank you for all the parking tips! :)

20. just popping in to say, i hope this continues in the future!! i'm moving to seattle after i graduate from college, but that's not for another three years or so...hope everyone has a spectacular time!

21. I'm all packed and psyched!!! Looking forward to seeing all the eye candy and meeting like minded souls ;0)

22. I'm just about to head out the door to the Clipper. C'ya all on Sunday!!!

23. have a great time everyone! :) all of us who could not make it are thinking of you all day ♥

please say hello to Bramble and Clyde; they are part of the big dollie "reveal" and "show".

24. OMG Cat, seriously?! :o I'm so stoked to see them, I will miss seeing you terribly--if this becomes an annual event, I can only hope you can make it next year, but I shall settle for dolls for now. ;) You will be in my thoughts tomorrow! :D

.hlp

25. So exciting! I've only ever been to Innocente Seraphim, so this will be my first full on BJD event! :D

26. OMG Tomorrow c: c: c:
See you guys there!
-excited-

I also managed to get some build-a-bear clothes that kinda work temporarily. A little short xD and no undies~

27. oh I'm hoping to go to this tomorrow! It'll be my first BJD meet/convention. :D

28. Take lots of pictures all of you that get to go! I have been going back and forth about it and in the end won't be able to make it.

29. heidipay: *hugs* i would have loved to have been there to see you, too :) we had been right up to the point of train/plane tickets, when we decided we just could not go.

new york is just too far from seattle to travel for a one day show. we opted to stay behind and send 'bits of ourselves' to cheer everyone. please look for mysticaldolldreams behind her black velvet and *hug* her for me. also see if you canKnot find Fenris and Baby Knot. Baby Knot may just have slipped into the crowd somewhere. she is very special and is well worth playing a bit of hide and seek to see. actually, i do Knot know if she is hiding ♥ just sayin' "try to find her" ; she is very cool.

candygears, none of you will be able to miss. she deserves all of your thanks for this great event. please help her make it be really special and a big success.

30. *_* Still working on my display. The dolls are all ready to go, but I've run into some problems with the repairs to the furniture my cat tried to eat. Darned cat. :|

31. :o Poor furtiture! Hopefully it'll all work out still.

I'm so excited to finally meet all the Seattle people! Khasel will have to stay at home this year (I'll bring him if there's a next though ^^) 70cm is too heavy for my doll bag, it won't zip up with him in it, lol.

32. Okay, it's as done as it's gonna' get. I totally ran out of paint on one part, and nothing is open now so I can't go get more. :doh It'll still work, it's just not as good as I would like it to be.

I'm gonna' go pass out now - have to be up at six o'clock this morning to get on the road for the show. See everyone there!

33. Lirin and I will be coming up from Olympia - hopefully arriving by 2:30.
Excitement is building!
Waves to the rest of the Olympia Crew!!!

34. I hope everyone has a great time...I know Candygears is really looking forward to it too, and has put in a lot of hard work, so I for one can't wait to see photo's. Please take lots and have fun!

35. I am looking forward to the pictures. I am sure everyone will have a blast!

36. Me too... hoping to see some pictures soon

..... stuck at work LOL (story of my life now"

37. OMG, we just got back a little while ago, and honestly, I had a blast! :D Sissy is charging up her camera now, I hope to have pics shortly, I suspect we shall post them in the Gallery, or at least post a link to them...amazing day, I'm 100% hopeful this will be an annual event! :D

.hlp

38. Seconded Heidipay! It was fun and the art and sets were amazing! Great vendors too! Thanks so much to the people who organized and made the fantastic art. It was very much appreciated :)

39. My husband and I just got back and we had a great time! I got a couch and a sweater for the girls :D I loved all the displays and dolls on display! Here is a picture of Yoko next to the reception area:

40. Had a great time! There were so many gorgeous dolls and great outfits (human that is)!
glory

41. Mr. polyhymnia (tall, butt-length dreadlocks) and I (tall, Angelsdoll Hyang in arms) ambled through each of the rooms, enjoyed everything we saw, had pleasant conversations with devoutdolls, miss mabel, and others whose names we didn't catch, and bought a swell hat for Maud from Kristine Ann's. (Though Voodoo Child Fortune has now claimed the hat as her own ...)

I recognized candygears' diorama, but was unable to i.d. the others.

Thanks to candygears for hosting the event, and to everybody who worked so hard to put it together! And thanks to all the cool doll-owners who answered my nosy questions!

42. what fun! I was thrilled how well attended this was. I met so many great people. It will be a bit til we get our photos up - pretty tired from the trip up and back. A huge thank you to all who created and supported this event! Such creativity lives here!

43. That was great. I got a nice hat at a great price, but I didn't really get around to mingling :c

I made a gallery thread, so please post some pictures!!

Here

44. Hey everyone, if you want to share photos you took at the event, head over to this Gallery thread. As much as we all love seeing the photos, this is not the appropriate place the post them.

I just got back, and am TOTALLY beat. I hope everyone had a great time. It certainly seemed like people were enjoying themselves!

45. I forgot to write down the address and got lost. Mabe next time :(

46. I had a great time! I hope that there is a larger venue next year. :)

47. Had an awesome time and the dioramas were just amazing, the one with the naga made me want to run home and start sewing my girls tails. X3

I hope there's going to be a 'next year' because this was allot of fun! Can't wait to see some pictures.

48. To everybody who hauled their display stuff up those flippin' stairs: you have my utmost admiration and respect.

Had lots of fun ~<3 Wish I could have stayed longer and talked to more people D: Darn my compatriots and their lack of stamina!

49. :sumomo: waiting for pictures everybody ! :aheartbea i am so glad that everyone had a great day ♥

50. Haha. Those stairs reminded me of fatal frame :o
I was really scared I was gonna fall, since I was wearing heel xD

And yeah, that corridor was a bit cramped.

51. Thanks for organizing this! I couldn't stay long but I managed to swing by and check out all the cuties. There were a lot of nice dolls, too ;)
Seriously though, glad somebody else remembered to take photos, the dioramas were awesome!

52. So sad I couldn't make it :(, maybe next time?! Looking forward to seeing pictures:fangirl:

53. I am having doll expo hang-over. I had the best time--sold some stuff, bought some stuff, visited with loads of awesome people and drooled over all the dolls (I was very careful not to get it on them LOL). Limwha to You Sara, Issabeau enjoyed getting around--her first meet. Spiritdoll Abies, Boaz and Dollstown Yeondu, Lula were just to much to carry--argh. Must rethink on who I bring for these types of things--Oh and a chair!!!! Why did I think I wouldn't nee a chair?????? DUH!

Totaly enjoyed talking to you Mrs. Polyhymnia AND Kiyakotari and all who else I talked to. I am very bad on names but did recognize these to. I did manage to give Candygears a hug and a BIG thanks on the way out. I am up for another one and am totaly willing to doll all I need to do to make another one happen. It was GREAT!

THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN!

54. Thank you so much to everyone who came out! It was fantastically over-the-top and I didn't expect so many people to show up. I had optimistically made 80 name tags (with separate nametags for the artists and vendors) and we ran out in the first hour of the show. Our final guesstimate was that we were close to 200 people, and a tally of how many dolls were there is pretty much impossible. The artists and vendors and everyone worked so hard to put this on, so I'm really glad a lot of people came out and made it fun.

Hopefully a bigger venue for this can be found for next year, since there's clearly demand for this kind of thing.

(I have tons of pictures, but today I need to crash and decompress before I post anything...)

55. Oh my gosh! Thank you everybody!!!! Thank you to Candygears and the folks that organized and ran this. Thank you to the amazing artists that put together displays! Thank you to all the vendors that came with all their really cool stuff. Thank you Jpop dolls for the very generous gift certificate prizes for the costume/customization contest. Thank you attendees for being awesome!! And lastly, thank you Ivars for providing all the chowder. :XD:

And thank you everybody for voting for Zornon!!!! I am so very very proud of him. :aheartbea

56. wow! thanks to everyone who came for making this show such a success! to all of my fellow display artists: you all did a wonderful job and it was worth all of the hard work! to cg: thank you so much for kicking this thing off and having us into your art space for it! <3

57. Everybody ~ wow, is all I can say....

Candygears for organizing an amazing event and doing all the running around to keep it going, keeping it organized, all the little tidbits...the prizes, the food, the band...the hospitality & venue...and on top of that you managed to throw a display in there too (how did you do that? ;) ) PHENOMENAL!

Fellow artists.....for all your hard work, time and effort transporting everything....you looked amazing, your displays looked AMAZING....it all paid off in the end (a couple of you even survived the mangling cats!!) you all did awesome!!!!! :thumbup I'll be adding pix soooooon!

58. Oh, it was a blast, and I got to meet so many really fun and sweet dolly-people! Also, I got to see dolls from Houses I'd long considered buying from, and that really does help. (Want a Kaye Wiggs so bad! And Soom Vesuvia is a goddess!) Candygears, you looked like a little pink BJD yourself, bopping around the artist's loft. What a great job you did! A good time was had by all!

59. Oh yeah, I was standing by these dolls for a while, and they were both stunning, Slytherin13!
