      Chat here about Uncanny Dream - Articulated Fantasy 2011. I'm super excited to put this event together for the Pacific Northwest region - it'll be unlike anything we've had before!

      So join us, and plan and scheme!

      *Update 5.9.2011* I've updated the Uncanny Dream Website with a "Frequently Asked Questions." Many people seem to be unsure of the same things, so please read this over and see if it helps.

    21. It sounds super, but I have never been to a trunk show, so I don't know exactly what it is! I understand we get together to buy, sell, and trade doll items, but is it also a doll party?

    22. Its going to basically be a mini convention.

      So far we've planned having Vendors there (for you to buy things), Artists setup (so you can see our work and have pretties to look at), There will also be photo areas for you to be able to take pictures of your own dolls.

      On a separate note - Keekster and I may also be planning some tutorials or a presentation of sorts for the event as well. We've been asked too.. but gotta plan it and coordinate with my partner on it XD

    23. Do you think you'll have the basics like hot glue sueding and restringing? LOL! I would love one on eyelash application... my weakness! :sweat And I'm no fiend with the hot glue gun either, though restringing, I am well-versed in by now. I hope there will be some faceup demos...I am loving this mini-con already! :D

      I'd really like to see a Loongsoul or Ringdoll in person too! Or other CROBIDOLLs!

      Is food and drink allowed during the event? Just checking.

      Is there going to be a trading area? More for, say, swaps than selling.

    26. Are the dolls limited to the same criteria as on DoA? It would be gross to have women pushing oversize strollers around full of reborn (or unborn or newborn) babies and organizing diapering contests, like a certain local doll show I won't name!

      Sorry, that was sexist. It would be gross to see people of either sex, etc...

    27. @ranma - this is a ball jointed doll expo, so no, there will not be any reborns. there may be some dolls that are off-topic for doa because they are artist dolls that have not been submitted for approval, or because they do not meet doa requirements. for example: i know of a few people who may attend who have yet to get a resin bjd, but do have smaller obitsu and who's that girl? dolls, plus i may be bringing along an artist doll that has not been submitted for approval here as of this time.

      can't wait to see everyone at the show! please tell your friends and come if you can! ^_^

    29. Yep, food will be allowed - we'll have some snacks and people are welcome to bring more. Of course trading is fine as well - most swap meets/trunkshows work like that (where people buy, sell and trade with each other.)

      Fenris is spot on - this is a "Ball Jointed Doll" event, put people are allowed to bring BJD's that are off topic for DoA (I know we will have a few brand new artist dolls present...)

      I'll announce more of the special events in the news thread as it gets closer to the date, but we will probably have a panel, and maybe live music too!

    37. At the risk of sounding dorky, I was wondering about name tags? I know people by their screen names on DoA and ZoZ but not their "real names" and faces. Is that too weird and old lady-ish to do?

      And also, if there is anything that I could do I would love to chip in and help (set up, bring munchies etc).

      Annnnnnnd I just ordered flyers! We'll be handing them out at SakuraCon and the next few local meets (to get the word out a bit more...) :dance

    44. haruko_0 not sure if you've been to any of the Oasis meets, but there will be at least that much space to setup any dollies you bring with you. So especially if you have a friend to help you keep an eye on them, there would be plenty of room for all your girls, and you wouldn't have to lug them the whole time :)

      (I wanna see Finn! I adore the tan Bambicronies... :aheartbea)

    45. I think for sure I will bring Finn. There's a Alexander McQueen style dress I want to make for her. I have not been to the Oasis meet, I did go to the innosera meet though. I guess I might as well bring all of them since there is only 3 to bring haha.

    47. I am currently hand-stitching wefts onto a wig cap. It is not actually made of awesome sauce. In fact, it is quite tedious.

    48. ya thats hard work. i sewed wefts onto a skull cap for a blythe. I did waaaay too much hair. it was super thick and looked wrong so i took it off and just rerooted the whole thing. took FOREVER but it looks really nice now. totally worth the work

Once I tried a mini latch-hooking method to apply hair to boat netting material that I made into a wig pattern....I think it could eventually work, but I used way too much hair and it ended up too *thick*. But man, was that tedious....so I can only imagine hand stitching. It's amazing what we'll go through, isn't it? :?

    53. Isn't it, though? We must be crazy. I've tried doing the mini-latch and French lace wig method before. I gave up in disgust after I had just under a square inch done. It took about 10 hours to do that much. @_@

      On the plus side, the wefts are all in place and I can get down to styling this thing. =D

    60. Yay! Its awesome that so many out-of-towners are considering coming up for this! I think it will be a really fun event :)
      If you're in the Pacific NW, do spread the word at your local meets so people know this is going on and can consider driving in for it (or carpooling, etc.)

      dhawktx - I don't know, but it would be wonderful if you can make it out for this!
