[UK - London] Pygmalion Society Midwinter Mêlée - Saturday 12th November 2011

Jul 12, 2011

    1. YAAY AWESOME! I'm so looking forward to seeing all you guys again! And you Moley :P god, the first weeks of unni have gone so fast, I'm halfway through term already! I'm dressing up (providd I can still fit into it... >.>) but my uni stuff has left me no time for dolly sewing DX

    2. I'm hoping to but being able to fit into it will be the decider for me too.

      Teddy

    3. Hey Mau did you get the monies for Moley's ticket?

    4. {sigh!} Still frantically sewing....

      Mau, Jay/Jane's ticket says "Sunday".....

      Teddy

    5. indeed...I seem to have gotten more of this costume done in the last 3 days than in the whole 3 months since I conceived the idea of it XD

    6. I do my best work in a last minute rush - unfortunately it's hell on my nerves!!!

      Teddy

    7. I'm hoping I can make it as it will be my first time meeting a group of doll lovers like myself

    8. Whaaaat? Now I am wondering if all the tix do. LOL (but I shouldn't really). It is SATURDAY peeps. SATURDAY!

      ANP, Got it!

    9. having just checked, mine also says Sunday, lol. Since I bought mine waaaay ages ago, I'd assume that all the tickets say the same...but we all know it's on Saturday so no worries ^w^

    10. Tickets are Mean and Lie To Us but we are Wise To Their Obvious Ploy.

      Teddy

    11. I haven't even looked at the date/day/time on the ticket XD

Krowbar had an idea, she shared said idea with me today, so expect Chase...as a real manry male *snickers*

    12. I have a request for peoples at the ball if at all possible.

Could everyone who will be attending take some time to come over to wherever I'm cabbaging and help me with some market research stuff? This should be the last of the face to face things I need to do before I can move on to creating "proper" visual concepts for you lovely people and the bank to see.

Things are moving ahead nicely on the company front I just need to get this last hurdle sorted before I can full steam ahead on getting everything signed and sorted. There may also be a small future incentive for everyone that helps out with the research.

      Thanks in advance.

      Moley

    13. Yay! Now to keep my fingers crossed that my inbox dosen't decide to eat it ¬_¬

    14. Mau: looked at my ticket this morning an it also says 'Sunday' XD

Moley: glad to hear good news on the business front!

My wings n tutu have been posted, hopefully they'll be here on time!

    15. Excuse my ignorance, but any chance you could elaborate? You're starting a bjd business but it's not clear. Is it a shop? A service? I've not met anyone 'dolly' from the south yet so I'm not really in the loop of information. Plus, don't be surprised if there are other new visitors who mistake me for you, lol.
      I really am moley :p

Oh and just in case, I'll be going by my name, Sioux, on Saturday. I didn't really know about meets and cons when I joined DoA (and made my user name...).
It's not gonna sound that good out loud :p

    16. Mau - are we gonna have name badges?

It may have come up already, but I can't remember.

The badges I use for my meets (Name, and User-names for whatever groups you're a member of) seem to work. I'm awful at remembering names, let alone connecting up faces with online names, so having badges helps peopel liek me keep track of who I'm talking to.

As you know, I go with the clear plastic ones with a card that you slip into it and resported to handing them to each person who arrives with a pack of felt-tips so they can write their own badge details and avoid the necessity of one person being stuck ith producing them (and gettign spellings and other details right/wrong etc).

      Teddy

    17. Teddy, can we take this one over to the committee over on you-know-where.

Oh bugger about the typo! That is just so me. OK. I will do a round robin, just to make sure people aren't overly confused.

Moley/dim-wit, please can we keep any discussions about shops/companies/sales etc out of this thread as it goes against DoA rules and will land you in the doo-doo. You are welcome to start a thread on the Pygmalion Society forum for it, though.

    18. Certainly

      Teddy

    19. oops sorry. Thanks for the reminder. I'm just a sucker for a mystery.
My curiosity will hold 'til Saturday I'm sure. ;)

    20. Oh Lord Mayor's firework's is on at 5'oClock on the Thames and the whole day starts from 11am so tubes etc might be busy!

    21. thanks for the warning Suvi

    22. Possible chaos on the tube? On a weekend? Never :O

    23. 0.o
I might invest in more bubble wrap then!

It's also the 'Britain in one day' Ridley Scott docu-experiment-thing day, so there might be a few people out and about with phone/video cameras in hand.
I might even have a go myself. :p

    24. Bum!

Oh well, I was expecting busyish tubs and trains on a Saturday anyway. Good luck everyone!

      Teddy

    25. Does anyone have a stuffed wolf I can borrrow? They are apparently harder to find than I thought ^^;

    26. i will be putting up the details for all regarding the bring and buy sale later today

    27. Mau I still haven't got Moley's ticket

    28. Coming, ANP.

And have you tried Build a Bear? Nice stuffed wolves there. And you can put his little fabric heart in yourself and make a wish. What more do you need?

    29. Yay! =D

And I didn't think of Build A Bear I'll give them a try

    30. Tutu arrived today!
Oh I'll be in on the BOB stuffs Linny!
ANP build a bear has ickle wolves too!

    31. Only problem with Build A Bear is there isn't one all that near me ^^;

    32. Our local branch closed down at some point over the summer.

      Teddy

    33. ok antendees! with reference to the Bring & Buy table
this is how we did it last year and it was very effective

      2) People write two CLEAR lists,( one for them, and one for us) numbered with price.
      E.G
      1) SD Girl Pink top and skirt. £10.
      2) SD Boy Jacket. £10
      3) 8-9 Wig.£5

      3) They put individual items in a clear plastic bag, with a label stating item, price, number of item as on thelist.

      4) When they arrive, they give us one list and will be given a number,( so we can know who's list belongs
to whom). we write their number on their list and on our list.

      5) They then add their special number to their labels, and give in their bags for the table.

      6) When an item sells, we see the special number( so know who's list it is,and cross the sold item of the
list). At the end of the two hours people come back with their list and we compare to see what they have sold, and give them their money, and they take back anything that hasn't sold.

You can hand in grab bags or individual items, the choice is yours but please keep it to a sensible amount...

      i hope this makes sense!

    34. And I knew I'd forgotten to do something ^^; hopefully I'll have time to go through all my stuff tomorrow evening

    35. If anyone wants to bring stuff to sell, i think i should allocate numbers to go on your bags now....at least it
gives you 2 days to sort through your treasures!

ok number allocated by attendee list

Don't forget this is an optional bring and buy sale. just because there is a number next to your name please do not feel obligated to bring stuff if you feel you don't want to or haven't got anything to sell

    36. ANP: Gahhh if I'd seen your post earlier I could've had a look. I went in my local one after work >.<

Linny: I shall get stuff sorted!

    37. No worries Suvi =D I may just mod a bunny if I can't find one

    38. Finally erm... finalising my travel. I'll be the one getting lost and delayed on the way. My train gets into Victoria which apparently has building works and the tfl website even suggests avoiding it! Then I somehow have to get over the other side with the Mayor stuff going on? By Boris, this might prove challenging... any locals suggest a tube route?
1: From Victoria up Victoria line to Euston, across Northern line to Old Street.
2: From Victoria along Circle/District to Monument/Bank change up Northern to either Moorgate or Old Street. Or even walk from Monument since it's only a couple stops or so?
3: From Victoria along Circle, stay on it until Moorgate or Barbican?

I remember changes at some stations can take forever so would #3 be best? Any idea what sort of travel time that would be?

    39. Everybody should look at the TFL website to check the tube closures, there are quite a few that will affect how easy it is to get to the meet.

Popo, since the northern line is closed, your only real choice is option 3, there may be engineering works affecting that as well, but I think it should take you about 30 minutes at most.

    40. Darn tube closures are messing with my route! D:

    41. Bank branch of the Northern line will be closed from Camden Town to Kennington, so Old Street is inaccessible via tube on the day.

I aim to be at the Barbican for 11.30 or so... will anyone be around at that time to walk with me so I don't get hopelessly lost? (Certain people will recall a walk from the NH Museum to the Science museum that took longer than it should have...:sweat)

    42. Oh yes I remember that walk DP XD

Stupid tubes, I'll be taking the bus then XD

    43. I should be getting into Kings Cross around 11 so I should be able to meet you and I'll use my TERROR BRAIN to remember the route. I don't tend to get lost that often.

    44. Sorry to be a nag Mau buthave you an ETA on that ticket?

    45. :3 I shall be attending with reliablekat! Whee~

    46. All tickets are sent out. Don't forget that any last minute merchants need to get their ticket orders to me by 2pm tomorrow.

And there are engineering works on the South Coast line, for any coming up that way. Give yourself PLENTY of time.

    47. Thanks Mau =D

    48. yay ^w^ thanks moley. just keep an eye out for a young woman with dark hair, glasses and an msd carry case hanging around aimlessly near the ticket barriers XD

    49. And you need to look out for a skinny guy with glasses and a beige/green hat who'll hopefully be lugging a black dollie bag =D

    50. Ooh... my friend and I will probably be finding our way from the Barbican as well. I'll look out for you all.
I have stupid amounts of wavy brown hair and glasses and he has shoulder length hair with a beard. I'll have an overstuffed black msd/sd bag and I (or he) may also be carrying a holdall or wheely case too (given my last minute dioramarising).

    51. I'll be wearing a brown leather trenchcoat with a suit on underneath. Oh and the aforementioned kacki hat with badges pinned to the back of it. I'll also have some games with me.

    52. Khaki! That was the word I was wanting :)

    53. I shall be wearing a slightly panicked look. I'll be easy to spot.

    54. I'll be in new rock boots and a red tutu XD

      EEEEE EXCITED!

    55. Awww!... Don't panic. Delegate someone to panic for you.

      Teddy

    56. Thanks for volunteering, Teddy. :chocoberry

    57. Managed to get the earlier express train from cambridge thanks to a quick bus so I will be cabbaged at barbican station for people to find. If anyone wants my mobile number just pm me.

    58. had s much fun yesterday cant wait to see everyone pictures ^_^

    59. Thank you so much, all of you, for making yesterday an amazing event. I will tot up the total money raised from the raffle and any profit on the tickets and let you know how much we will be sending to Cancer Research UK on your behalf, but it is certainly over £250. Whoo!

I am just sorting pictures, which I did take enough of, what with running around and stealing Krowbar's Claude, and will start a gallery thread in a little while. Please, please share you photos of our wonderful, wonderful annual event.

*blows extravagant kisses to all Pygmalion Society members*

    60. It was such a great turn out Mau!
Thank you to all those that handed over their monies to me an Dollfaced-lunchboxx for their raffle tickets. The monies couldn't be raised without you!

I have pix but i'm still around Twirl's so they will be uploaded within the next few days XD
