Twigling Doll Discussion ~ Part 3

One year before covid? I thought it was way later than that. Thank you for explaning a little what happened between the scenes!

For me the most difficult thing during the pre-order was to pick the right option for each category XD
It took me a month to ideally come up with the final doll, almost missed the pre-order XD

 

Yup, the first picture that DCS tagged me in on Instagram, of recently cast dolls is from December 2018, though it would have been early 2019 before anything actually arrived.

Would you like to tell me something about what gave you difficulty with choosing between the options, how you managed to resolve it and perhaps your perspective on how that could be improved on the website? If so, please shoot me an email about it

 

My first dye job. I love how she turned out. I tried to find one of the original Ingenue’s in raw umber but couldn’t. (I would still like one more) but I digress, I bought this girl second hand, dyed her and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

I am so excited my mint Elbe has shipped!! Is it wrong all I want to do is make her a necklace? I am not sure what else she will wear

 

That’s not wrong at all! My purple gamine shipped today, and my only plan for her is that I’m braiding flowers into her hair, so she might end up wearing flowers and a wig till I learn more about her style, haha

being unsure of new dolls' style is exactly why I try to only get dolls within the same general measurements, that way they can just borrow from existing clothes while I decide what works and then I know exactly what size to get stuff in

 

Oops due to shipping mixup have a bit more time to work on things for incoming Elbe! These are the parts of her necklace thus far

Thanks for the support @Demiurgo - I would happily leave all my dolls half dressed and wigless at times however my partner is already a little weirded out... I try and make them look as 'normal' as possible hehe.

I seem to have dolls all the way from 15cm - 65cm @Girrl - but I have found that clothes I have bought/made for a particular size work even better for an unintended victim sometimes!

 

Oh hi!! I'm the other side of that shipping mixup! If you want a pic of your Elbe, I can totally unwrap her a little and send pics (I didn't unwrap once I saw she was green!) that beading for the necklace is looking incredible as well!

 

Oh exciting @Chameleon! I thought it must be your doll thats coming to me. And than you I am not sure how long it would have taken me to realise I had the wrong doll - must have been a surreal feeling! I think I will have to see her colour in person to get a better idea of what will suit her. I am still waiting for customs here to hand over your girl so I can send her your way

 

fingers crossed for a speedy release! It was definitely a relief to see you in here though! I feel like when mine arrived in purple, you'd have known she wasn't quite right!

I had to drop part of my obsidian order for vet bills, but I’m still bringing home a head I can hybrid. I’m so excited to see the colour in person!

 

Hello there (reposting this from IG and Facebook)

I had said I would make an announcement this week about where we are at, but I am still waiting to confirm some things and until then everything is still a bit up in the air.

In the event that it becomes impossible to cast my dolls in Russia with DCS, I am working on alternative solutions. But whichever it will be, I think we have to assume there are going to be some more delays, which makes me hella uncomfortable when I have customers waiting since September 2020 for their dolls.

Not to mention that I have closed orders for now, and until I can confirm that I have a viable production option up and running, which means I'm skating the edge of precarity myself as well. Several options are being prepared, but nothing is fully confirmed yet.

I will continue to update as/when I have information...

 

My Elbe "Nemain" got an outfit, face and wig change - this is a smartdoll wig, and Angell Studio clothes. The bra-top I beaded myself.

because of the war with Ukraine I have a long waiting time with unclear prospects for delivery... I really hope that there is a foundry in the EU that can work with resin...

 

The first batch of Obsidian dolls are on their way from DCS now. The next batch should be the rest of the Obsidian orders and will contain dolls that include the new Eloy and Ingenue heads.

We don't know how long the shipping will take, or what fees or punitive sanctions customs might slap me with for trading with Russia.

Still working on finalising with a new casting company, I am not at liberty to give more details about it yet.

It's still unclear whether DCS will be the ones casting the remaining back order for me or whether the new company will be able to do it. Depends how long things take with the next batch, among other things. Perhaps they will, and I can start taking orders again to be cast by a new company as soon as they are ready.

I hope we will know something more through the summer...

The preview in my email notification comes in Cyrillic?! So I have to check straight away to see what is being said. I make most updates recently just very quickly in Instagram, but long text and picture not always related.

So these pokes and notifications are helpful reminders

 

No, I'm in Germany and I'm translating into Russian because it's easier for me that way. I'm surprised myself that the quote from the translation is displayed the same way... Risi, if I may ask, are you planning any more orders?

 

I am hoping to open a new preorder as soon as I can confirm new manufacturers will be able to produce to the required quality standards.

I am also considering getting some Minigenue and Minipieta produced for sale, and then take a preorder for them. When the worst of the current heatwave is passed I will get back to working on the master parts.

 

I will explain my question. I understand that right now nothing is clear at all, because this whole situation is very complicated. But I really want to buy at least one more doll of yours. it's like a drug addiction

I definitely want to be able to open preorders again and not continue to have the problems of the last few years, so as soon as I can confirm a stable production capacity, sales can resume.

My Obsidian Elbe arrived yesterday, and words do not do her justice any more than pictures.

 

Just hopping in with a quick question: is there any news on when there will be another preorder for the large girls? I keep getting confused on who will be available next, so I apologize if this is a silly question. Is Twigling still working to find a new caster?

 

Hey @zomjirate - Reese has been posting regular updates on insta (insta name twigling); she is still working on getting the existing preorders done so no date yet on when new orders will open again. She is almost ready to send the dolls to the new caster so orders can get moving along.

 

You are correct, she is still working on developing a working relationship with a new caster.
After that , there is the backlog of previous large dolls that needs to be fulfilled before Twigling will consider opening another order for large dolls.

It’s been a really long time since I was last active here, so I haven’t been paying attention to Twigling news.
I have old Eloy myself (love that doll so much) and I thought the other day; I remember Eloy was made in a smaller version and I wonder if anyone has smaller Eloy? I saw pictures on Twigling’s site of old and new Eloy next to each other but I’d really love to see owner pictures of new Eloy, but I don’t find it. Maybe I just can’t find it or maybe he hasn’t been casted yet?

so... Twigling is once again opening preorders, while acknowledging that the backlog still hasn't been cleared. When was that last preorder? 2+ years ago? I desperately want at least 1 body (realistically 2) but the preorder announcement gave me some serious DollShe vibes, and she won't say who the casting company is and can't show the proposed colors this feels like a hard pass to me

 

I agree. It’s been so long, and without combing through random Instagram posts I have no idea where her resin colors land. Looking on the site I see one that’s just called “vivid”

Someday I still hope to own an onyx Ingenue elf, but I know this is just a fantasy

Ordered a SA Ingene full doll and Eloy head on 7-15-21. Received them on 11-1-23. (There's no waiting room thread so I thought I'd record this information here.)

 

Yay!! Glad to see orders are starting to go out again! What colour did you order them in?

 

I ordered the full doll in teal. I ordered the head in vivid, but there was a miscommunication and he was cast in teal. I chose to receive the teal head rather than wait for a new head to be cast. The character had changed enough since ordering that the teal head works better than the tan anyway.
